Re: Complaining to Ofcom and demanding compensatio...

I'm not sure that there is anything ANYONE can do about the appalling installation service that BT/BT Openreach have provided in this instancce.
We moved into a new property, having ordered a new line from BT and BT accepting the order.
They seem answerable to no-one - but here's my story - which is still unresolved.
The following is an extract from the log I've been keeping:
Phoned BT and ordered line on 8th August, Pre-paid 12 months’ rental with the intention of ordering BT Infinity 2.
Was told couldn’t get an engineer out until 26th August but he was scheduled to come between 0800 and 1300.
Received many texts and emails to make sure I would be there on 26th – even night before. Checked with BT early on morning to make sure he was coming and was told yes.
Waited in for engineer and when didn’t turn up phoned BT and was told the installation would be delayed because BT Openreach needed to do some work on the site. Was told this would happen tomorrow (27th) and BT promised to phone me by 20:00 on that day to confirm and to arrange the BT engineer visit 48 hours later.
On 27th BT did NOT phone so I phoned on 28th and was told that BT Openreach hadn’t performed their work on the site and they were now scheduled to do this on 15 September! Again I was promised a contact once this was done to arrange the BT engineer visit.
At around 11:30 on 15th September, I received a text saying that BT would contact me on 16 OCTOBER with an update!
Phoned BT and was told they were still waiting for BT Openreach to install the line and this was now scheduled for 15th October.
Received a text on 15th October saying that there was a further delay in BT Openreach installation but that this was due to be completed by 20th October and there would be a further update then.
No work was done on 20th October and we were then promised a further update from BT on 27th October.
We phoned BT on 27th and was told the work was to be completed on 29th October at which time we would be contacted again.
Needless to say, no work was done on 29th!
BT phoned me on 30th to say that BT Openreach still hadn’t completed the work but that they had the engineer’s number and email address and would keep trying to contact him. They would phone me on 31st with an update. Meanwhile, my wife had also spoken to BT who had already spoken to the engineer who said that he was in the “last stages” of the work and it would definitely be finished by the end of the day (30th).
Phoned BT on 31st and was told that, due to a “broken cable”, BT Openreach hadn’t managed to complete the work as expected but was finishing it that day and had been on site from 09.37. I had the day off so went to see a workman who was working nearby who confirmed that BT openreach had indeed been working on the cabinet both on the 30th and 31st and had left around 12:30 ish.
Furthermore, a BT engineer turned up in the afternoon of the the 31st to install the line! I rather foolishly thought that there was light at the end of the tunnel.
However, when he inspected the site, there were a couple of issues, the major one being that there was nowhere to connect the line into the cabinet! He could see where the draw ropes were to install the line(s) into the site and to my house but there was no distribution point or ducting into the cabinet for connecting them. The other issue was that he wouldn’t have had enough cable on his van anyway because the run was too long.
He took copious notes to report the position back to his superiors.
BT phoned Monday 3rd November to say that they had been in touch with a BT Openreach Manager who was now dealing with the situation and who had admitted that BT Openreach had not in fact done what they were supposed to do but he was going to chase the matter and report back to BT by the following afternoon (4th November).
BT said that they would contact me with any further progress once they had an update.
BT phoned 5th November to say that they had been in touch with BT Openreach and were told that there was “cabling work” still to do and the latest estimate for this was 12th November and BT would update me then. I was warned that this was only an estimate and not a guarantee of completion!
I fully expect no-one to have read all that but I fail to understand how what should be a straight-forward installation has taken nearly three months and is still no-where near completion. In the meantime, we are relying on dongles for internet access and mobile phone for calls - slow and not cheap.
BT say they have escalated the situation internally and within BT Openreach but that doesn't seem to have had any effect! There seems little point complaining to BT since they are a customer of BT Openreach but surely someone should take responsibility!
I await the next call on 12th November!

By Christmas? Are you kidding?!!! lol
You'd have a better chance of winning Euromillions.
We moved on 26th September having attempted to arrange our Home Move some 8 weeks earlier. We are now being (badly) looked after by High Level Complaints. Ages trying to get Openreach to even recognise our existence then numerous bull about huge amounts of work needing to be done. Meanwhile, our next door neighbours had a phone line (Openreach / Sky) about 7 weeks ago.
We are both Disabled ....... maybe that's the difference. Make the buggers suffer eh ...... let's really screw up their New Home Experience!
BT (and Openreach - one and the same) have to have the most disgraceful Customer Service known to man. You'd think we were trying to get an inter-planetary link set up!
One can only deduce that BT Openreach continue to abuse their monopolistic position!
All we want is a phone line ....... where else do we go?

Where to begin with this catalogue of incompetence from BT?
I placed an order for a new telephone line and broadband for the new house I was moving in to. The order was placed on May 17 with a wait for connection until June 1. The new house had an existing line (actual physical line from the exchange but no live connection). Upon placing my order, BT notified my neighbour they would be disconnecting their line in order to connect mine. Somehow BT got our addresses mixed up. When I informed BT of their error, I was told the only way to fix the error was to cancel my order and start again. I did this on the phone under the advice and guidance of an advisor on May 23, and was then given a new activation date of June 15. Not overly happy I had to wait 4 weeks from the date of my original order to get connected, I repeatedly called BT asking if any earlier slots for the engineer to visit my house were available.....I was told no.
However, 4 days before my appointment with the engineer, another engineer arrived at my house to extend the physical line that came in to my house over to a new neighbours house (a derelict barn still under construction with no inhabitants). I called BT to ask what was going on and was assured there was no problem, and my line would still be activated on June 15 (today). My new neighbour told me he called BT and got a late appointment slot at short notice.
On Wednesday June 13 I was called by BT and told there was a problem because there were no available lines for my house as the only two available ones in the area had now been used by my two neighbours. I would now have to wait indefinitely for the engineers to dig up the roads to install a new line.
On Thursday June 14 I was told by 3 different people at BT that actually all was ok and the engineers had confirmed all was well and they would indeed install and activate my line today, June 15. I questioned this strongly after what I had been told the day before, and one advisor even apparently called the OpenReach engineers while I was on hold to double check, and it was all confirmed.
So I took the day off to await the engineer......who unsurprisingly did not turn up!
This is the watered down version of the 4 weeK debacle I've had with BT. In total I have spent 9 hours on the phone (very expensive mobile) being passed from one person to the next being told completely different things from each. Apparently my account is in my wifes name even though she has never once spoken with BT and did not make this order (we used to be joint customers in the past). No one can rectify this problem. Apparently my order is a business line although it is really a residential line, and no one can recitfy this error. Apparently there is an existing active phone line and number at my address, but in reality there isn't. No one can recitify this error. Apparently part of the delay is because the engineers can't identify if I live on the first or second floor........I live on the gorund and first floor of a normal house just like 99% of the rest of the population! BT sent me a internet dongle so I could at least access the internet....the one they sent is not activated or registered at their end so they've asked me to send it back and they'll send another next week.
What's more, my 7 year old daughter has severe anaphylaxis, and if she eats any food with a trace of nuts, or is stung by something like a wasp, she will go in to shock and die if she doesn't get immediate emergency medical help. We carry epipens of adrenaline for this, but an injection of that will only buy her several minutes until an ambulance arrives. As we live in a very rural area with only one neighbour, I do not have the luxury of being able to use a neighbours phone to call the ambulance, and if my mobile signal drops out, I have no way of dialling 999. Even under these conditions, BT thought it more appropriate to divert my land line in to a neighbouring derelict barn instead of connecting me. I have now been without a phone for 4 weeks.
Every time I phone for assistance I am passed to someone presumably from India who can only function with the aid of the script on his desk, and the script does not account for unusual situations like this, therefore I get no where. I've asked repeatedly to speak with a senior manager but it seems they do not exist and my only choice is to speak to the supervisor who uses a slightly different script but still cannot deviate from it.
Who can I speak to?
I now want to complain to Ofcom and anyone else I can, and also demand compensation for the extreme mobile phone bill I've incurred being on hold for 9 hours plus the day I took off work to wait for an engineer who didn't turn up.
I do feel BT had a monopoly on this market for so long that customer service was never and is not a priority for them.
Very, very frustrated and annoyed.

It's sort of comforting but sad to see that I am not alone in my frustration with what purports to be a telephone SERVICE provider. A customer of BT for 45 years, I went for a short break in London last week Monday to Thursday. I came home to find our village flooded, and photos on national newspapers and film on TV of kayaks going down the village street. Our house was safe and dry but many neighbours were in trouble. As I came in the front door, I went straight to the phone to access 1571 - realising that concerned friends and relatives might have left messages. “You do not have access to this service” said a prissy voiced lady. At first I thought the local telephone exchange might be out of order - but realised the prissy voiced lady was Mrs BT herself. Phoning my home from my mobile I discovered that my number was not recognized. BT had cut me off.
I phoned the so called helpline and was told I had cancelled my BT account. I hadn't. The stupid woman on the other end told me I could start a new non-cancellable for a year contract and they would re-connect me. I told her I didn't want a new contract, just my old one back with my existing (now non-existing) phone number rental for which I had paid in advance to July.
She told that BT (even women who work for BT) can't multitask and all she could do was reconnect me with a new contract. But once I was reconnected I could go though a long procedure of punching numbers in on the 150 system and then ask somebody else to change the new number they were going to give me and that I didn't want, back to my old number that I did want. My wife, who tells me it is only men who can't multi-task, thought this was a strange response from a woman.
Anyway next morning (Friday) I went through the process of ordering the right number - it would be magicked back in 24 hours I was told. It wasn't.
30 hours after ordering I rang 150. What I hadn't realized was that 30 hours from 9am on Thursday in the strange timezone occupied by British (Indian) Telecom works out at 9am on the following Monday as BT engineers knock off on Friday evening. I was also told that the person who ordered the number change on Friday hadn't done it right and it hadn't gone through. So it would be re-ordered on Saturday at 4.10 pm (that's BST). It would be absolutely guaranteed that I would get my number back - it takes 24 hours. That worked out in case you have the same difficulties as me at being done by and here i quote “9am on Monday - or to be on the safe side say 10am”. I was also promised that I wouldn't be billed for the days when my service wasn't set up correctly.
By Monday nothing had changed - well it had - they had changed my phone number to yet a different one - not the one that they first gave me - not the one I wanted - just another number. A man rang up asking if I had his cardigan and briefcase in the Lost Property office. I told him I hadn't had it handed in and didn't even know who I was supposed to be. I rang 150 again. Another Asian sounding gentleman told me that the person who ordered the number change on Saturday hadn't done it right and it hadn't gone through. So it would be re-ordered on Monday at 10.30 (that's BST). It would be absolutely guaranteed that I would get my number back - it takes 24 hours. That worked out in case you have the same difficulties as me at being done by “Tuesday”. I said that I found it difficult to believe he was telling me the truth as I had been led such a merry dance by BT. He got his supervisor Nina to ring me back which she did instantly.
However Nina didn't have any of my details so said would I hold the line. I did for a while till my bladder got the better of me, so she had to ring me again when she had the details. She said she understood how frustrated I was - people from BT are good at that line - they also all kept telling they knew where I was coming from - - which is more than I knew about them (probably India?). Nina said they would ABSOLUTELY give me my requested number. “Good” I said. Then she dropped the bombshell. “But can I just check? Would you mind awfully if we gave you a different number from the one you are asking for?” - thus confirming that nobody in the BT system actually really understands English or what being a telephone SERVICE provider is all about. I said I really REALLY wanted the number I had had for 13 years until BT made a mistake and switched me off. She promised etc. etc. etc
BT promise that any money they owe me from “your cancelled contract” will be refunded in 40 days (I don't know if those are working days or actual days). On the other hand they don't allow 40 days for a customer to pay a bill.
I had a cancellable contract before BT cut me off. They just cut me off and broke the contract and I get rubbish treatment. On the other hand, if I can't get this all sorted out satisfactorily, they will bill me a cancellation fee for cancelling the rubbish so-called service they are giving.
You can't speak to an intelligent person who understands English like a native. The 150 system takes you round in circles. And woe betide anyone who tries to untangle the mess by using the BT website: when you try to log in to see what's going on with the new account, it tells you that you can't use your e-mail address as that belongs to a previous customer who cancelled (actually didn't cancel) his account while he was on a 4 day London break.
I think I've just gone round in another circle!
I think I'll try writing to my new friend Warren Buckley - he sounds a lovely chap - he keeps sending me e-mails reassuring me they've got my orders and are cracking on with them - and keep completing them - and putting me in the telephone directory and if I want I can get TV down my telephone line (Sky if you are reading this, and Freeview likewise please note that I don't want to cancel getting TV from competent providers).
Or I might try Ofcom.
Or I could try taking BT to the County Court - I suspect there's some way of doing that.
Or I could just slag them off very loudly on trains - or by writing to the newspapers - or BBC Watchdog. Any other suggestions please post on this blog. Thanks for reading!!!

• Regarding production order closing and demand closing

Hi Gurus,
I am new to pp module..
I have the requirement on production order closing and demand order closing.
The requirement needs plant, reuirement plan no ,basic finish date and percentage in selection screen.
In the output display plant, requirement plan no,PIR No,order, order finish dat ,***.order qty,***.delivered qty,qty difference, percentage%,order status as in alv grid display.
And in the output it has 2 buttons named technically complete and demend close .whener user click on first button system should take all the orders which r selected to the program with the same reuirement plan as for the selected order and then technically close all the orders with the same reuirement plan number.
when user clicks on demand close button, system should take the respetcive requirement plan number, order finish date and material and it has to take the pir no which match the above and deactivate the pir and save.
I need the help about this.
Thankx in advance.

Dear Chandu,
First settle the production order using the T Code CO88,and then close the production order.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for setting the CLSD status are:
The order must have the status Released (REL) or Technically completed (TECO)
The order balance must be 0
There can be no open purchase requisitions, purchase orders or commitments
There can be no future change records from confirmation processes

• Translucent impromptu possible "hacker" message interrupts current session, locks MacBook Pro screen and demands that I restart by holding down the power button of my LapTop to turn it off first. Any thought? Could this be another way to mess with us?

I was listening to a YouTube video on the history of X15 rocket airplanes. All of sudden, out of the blue a translucent back message drops top down, stops the video, locks up my MacBook Pro screen and demands that I restart my lapTop by first holding down my power switch, then turn the lapTop back on. This has never happened to me before. The message was in black & white, and in about 6 languages: English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese. Does any one recognize what this might be?
The Computer turned back on just fine as if nothing had Now I am freeking out that they could be reading my key strokes or something. Could they have used this tactic to install malicious software on my computer by first taking away my ability to do anything about it being that I am not a software engineer? Can any one think of anything simillar? I reported this as a bug to APPLE the regular way, then cleared my Safari cookies, then run software update which returned nothing new as in " your software is up to date at this time."
Can any one please help?
A-NmN.

Hi stedman1,
Thank you so much. This seems to make sense to me now. I was freaking out a bit that some hacker could be messing with my MacBook Pro. I will be monitoring this issue from now on as it has never happened before.

• I have an iPad mini and a 2nd gen Apple tv -which works fine with Airplay--and whilst i can get BBC Iplayer and 4OD , it only works with audio for ITV player and Demand 5. What am I doing wrong

I have a new iPad mini and can successfully use airplay with my 2nd generation Apple tv . BBC Iplayer is fine --as is 4OD, but ITV player only works in audio format--and Demand 5 does not work at all. I am pretty sure both the latter are compatible--so what can i do to fix this and what am i currently doing wrong?

Someone recently noted a problem staying logged on the Huffington Post since it became connected with AOL. The workaround for that is to change your connection setting here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network
Click the "Settings" button and choose either "No Proxy" or "Use System Settings" option, and OK the change.
Not sure whether Washington Post could be affected by that same setting.
In reviewing your extensions, I'm puzzled that you have both DoNotTrackMe and SavvyConnect. The first one seems to aggressively block certain communications with websites (potentially affecting functionality) while the second one seems to report on your browsing habits (they better pay well is all I can say). Have you tried disabling both of those to see whether that has any effect?

• Help with supply and demand query using monthly buckets

I'm working on a query bound for Discoverer which pulls the aggregated supply and demand for an item and buckets it into months. So for any given item, I need to show the item, onhand, cost, aggregated supply (planned orders, requisitions, pos), and aggregated demand (planned order demand, jobs) - all bucketed by months.
The code below works okay to find all of the data for July, but I also need to show August and September. I'm thinking I could use a union but am reluctant because the query already runs kind of slow and I'm not sure if I'm on the right track.

Hi,
Six things:
(1) Where are the one-to-many relationships between your tables? If a single row in mtl can match two (or more) rows in mrp, and can also match two (or more) rows in wip, then it looks like, when you join both of them them, you'll have a chasm trap, that is, you'll get all the matching rows from mrp paired with all matching rows from wip. Are you sure your existing query is producing the right results?
Are there one-to-many relationships with the other tables in your original query?
(2) Are your DATEs always at midnight? If not, avoid using BETWEEN and LAST_DAY for DATE comparisons: otherwise you'll miss everything between 00:00:01 and 23:59:59 on the last day.
That is, instead of
and mrp.new_due_date(+) BETWEEN :Month AND LAST_DAY(ADD_MONTHS(:Month,2))ypou should say
and       mrp.new_due_date (+)     >= :Month
and mrp.new_due_date (+) < ADD_MONTHS (:Month, 3)(3) The basic way to pivot the months of mrp_due_date is:
SELECT ...
, NVL ( SUM ( CASE
WHEN  mrp.new_due_date >= :month
AND mrp.new_due_date < ADD_MONTHS (:month, 1)
THEN mrp.quantity_rate
END
, 0
) AS mrp_qty_0
, NVL ( SUM ( CASE
WHEN  mrp.new_due_date >= ADD_MONTHS (:month, 1)
AND mrp.new_due_date < ADD_MONTHS (:month, 2)
THEN mrp.quantity_rate
END
, 0
) AS mrp_qty_1When you do this, do not GROUP BY TRUNC (mrp.new_due_date, 'MM').
The code above does two months: I'm sure you get the idea for how to do more.
To get dynamic column headings (such as Jun_2009 or "2009-06" instead of the generic mrp_qty_o) requires dynamic SQL. The best way to do dynamic SQL depends on the tool that is producing the query (e.g. SQL*Plus). What are you using? Are you willing to change, if it helps?
(4) Displaying separate columns from one row as a single column on multiple rows is called unpivoting. How badly do you want to do that? Your query would be simpler and faster if the output had only one row per group (rather than one row for mrp_qty and another row for wip_wty). That one row could have six columns (e.q. June_mrp, June_wip, July_mrp, July_wip, August_mrp and August_wip) instead of three. Depending on your front-end tool, you might even be able to wrap the single row of output so that it always appeared as two rows, each with three columns.
(5) Sorry I told you to do
and mrp.order_type_text(+) in (...)I never use the + outer-join notation any more, so I forgot about the ORA-01719 error. There's no problem having an outer-join condition like that using ANSI notation. (One more reason to switch.)
(6) As you noticed, this site doesn't like to print the <> inequality operator, even inside tags.
Use the equivalent != operator instead, when posting on this site. • Business Objects and Demand Planning Book

Has anyone combined the functionality of Business Objects and Demand Planning into a single view? The requirement is to provide enhanced analytics (near real-time) within DP. We are on version 5.0. Ideally, it will a single view (table and graph -similar to standard layout) where both DP and BO are called with the same selection. I have a method to access the data near real time. What are the options to acheive this? Any ideas will be helpful.
Regards,
James

Thanks Dave. I created a virtual cube in APO to connect BO. I can retrieve the data fine. I was wondering if there is a way to integrate BO and the planning book so that I will have one view to see both applications. For example, I called /zsapapo/sdp94 and get the planning book and BO analytics. Essentially, I want the BO to replace the standard graphics in the planning book. So, I would have a table at the top and BO dashboard at the bottom of the planning view. Any ideas how to achieve this?
The other question is around using a function module or BAPI to connect a virtual cube to LC to retrieve real time information. Are you aware of any drawbacks to using a function module or BAPI to retrieve data instead of the DataSource?

• Supply and Demand Propagation not working in SCM5.0

Just curious if anyone is using S&OP (Supply and Demand Propagation) in APO?
I am using SCM v5.0 and Planning Area 9ASNP01 can not be initialized.
OSS 832393 states: The SNP propagation planning (planning area SNP 9ASNP01, transaction /SAPAPO/SNPSOP) can only be used with times series live Cache. In productive systems, this functionality should be used only after consultation of SAP.
I am trying to use the standard default SAP Planning area 9ASNP01 and am curious what needs to be done to use it?
I am submitting on OSS message for this, but am curious to see if anyone is using S&OP currently in APO?

Ken,
I have just posted a similar question to your regarding S&OP, have you in the meantime managed to obtain some information regarding anyone using propagation (S&OP), and any advantages/disdvantages?
