RE: debug during partitioning

From personal experience you probably have some type of circularreferencing between objects during the Init() method processing. I've
run across this when the Init() method of a containing object
instantiates the contained objects and the contained objects have a
reference to the containing object. These classes begin a tight circle
of instantiating each other's objects until memory is exhausted.
Offhand I can't remember which, but running from the running man or the
debugger will eventually give you the out of memory message along with
responsible class.

Subject: debug during partitioning
I need a way to see what Forte is doing when it is returning my
application
to the client during a distributed run. What is happening is after
all the
server partitions start I get the message returning windows partition
to
the client. My client then runs out of memory. I have allocated 80MG
of
memory on the client and my app. only has 2 windows so I assume there
is
something else that I have partitioned poorly.
My question is how can I figure out what Forte is doing when it runs
out of
memory so I have a place to start looking ?

when i try to use boot camp assistant to partition the disk....it shows a message after some time that "an error has occured during partition"

    Hi Cam-Fox22,
I have had this problem and tried everything suggested without success until last night. I took the plunge and did a Factory reset which cured the problem. Of course you must do a back up to iTunes first. I connected the iPad to my PC via a cable and then loaded iTunes. Log in to the account associated with your iPad and then carry out a backup of your iPad including apps and purchases. Then hit reset option near the top of the page and hit again when asked if sure. It takes a while to download the software but eventually it wiped the iPad and loaded it with fresh software. Keep your iPad connected and then restore from back-up when given that option. When it is all finished you will have your iPad back just as it was before you started but with iMessage and Facetime both working again.

  • During partition Boot camp crashed!

While partioning it appeared the message to restart the computer, and when rebooted my HD had lost the space I decided to divide for windows.
    The new partition is hidden.
If I try to restart boot camp it don't see the former partition, and can't start because my HD is now of only 9 Gb left!
If I use the utility of disk, It says there is an error because the disk has only... (number of cluster) while should have ... (number of cluster) .
    Please help! Thank you.

The crash during partitioning is a known issue with the current version of Boot Camp Assistant. For me, the way to recover the missing space was to boot using the Leopard CD and then simply use Disk Utility to repair my hard disk... I didn't have to change the partitions in Disk Utility, because I don't think it got that far in the process before it crashed.
You will continue having the same crash every time you try to create a Boot Camp partition, until either Apple fixes the bug, or you defragment your hard disk with a program like TechTool, which can literally take several days to complete.

  • Maximum availability during partition move

I understand that the Assistant will be able to run on 9iR2 as well as 10g.
Will the Assistant then be using dbms_redefinition in order to have maximum availability during partition moves (plus any depending index builds and MV refreshes)?

    Martin,
In its initial release we will be using standard partition maintenance commands to move data, however we will be looking at whether we can take advantage of DBMS_REDEFINITION.

  • Disk Utility crashed during partition and DOUBLED partition use - now it's full?

    This one has me stumped.
1TB Disk - NON-start-up - had about 450GB of data files on it.
Split it with disk partition so I could reclaim free space.
Disk Utility crashed during the partition.
    Relaunched Disk Utility.
Now shows 900GB of the disk are used.
Tried to repair disk with Disk Utility, "Can't Unmount Disk"
Have rebooted now and am trying to find out WHAT that other 450GB of space taken up actually is. (using WhatSize).
Anyone have any clues what the heck is going on? I now no longer have any space to duplicate the partiion files to (though on another drive completely). I can still access the files but not sure what that other space hog could be....?
    Thanks anyone.

Techtool Pro was able to determine the directory structure was fubarred - repairing it corrected the structure to report the size correctly.

  • Mac os crash during partitioning

My mac get crashed / rebooted during bootcamp partitioning step. I have mac without DVD/CD drive. How I can reset SSD configuration back to original?
My main disk have size of 120Gb, and after unsuccessful bootcamp re-partition I see it as 100Gb and I do not see extra volumes / partitions, so nothing to remove and merge
disk list utility show that I have 1 partition with size 120Gb and 1 volume on it with size 100Gb
Disk Unit after repair think that I have Macintosh HDD 100Gb and that is.

  • Boot Camp Assistant / Disk Utility Stuck during Partitioning

    Hello Apple / Apple customers,
I have a 15" MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) with a 320GB hard drive. I recently partitioned my hard drive to install Windows 7 in order to install and play a Windows game. Everything installed fine, but I discovered that I didn't have enough space partitioned to fit the game (I did not anticipate it taking 14 GB to install). So I deleted the partition. Now I'm attempting to make a larger partition and restore a Winclone image that I made of the previous partition on that new partition. The problem I am receiving occurs when I attempt to make a new partition in both Boot Camp Assistant and Disk Utility. During the partitioning process, Boot Camp Assistant stalls at about 30% and stays that way for hours, and Disk Utility also stalls during the "shrinking disk" part at about 30% as well. Is there anyway that I can fix this? I already tried repairing my hard drive by running Disk Utility via the Installation Disc, and it says that my hard drive is fine. Thanks in advance for the help.

Reinstall Leopard, but first use the Leopard install DVD Disk Utility to reformat the HD to one partition. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh14.html
It's for Tiger, but applies for Leopard as well.

  • Mac Book Crash During Partition

I recently went to install Windows XP on my MAC, and during the Partition portion of Boot Camp my MAC Book Pro crashed. Once back up, I see that the partition size I had set is no longer visible to the MAC Software, and when I run boot camp again it asks me to partition again. Any suggests on how to complete the install or how to get that partition accessible through OSX. I am currently running the most recent version of Leopard.
    Thanks

I suspect it is a 10.5.2 issue, rather than a Bootcamp-specific one. Here's why I think that FWIW...
Earlier this evening I was trying to shrink an existing partition on an external Firewire 800 disk, so I could make room for a new just-for-Time-Machine partition (equivalent to what you'all are doing to make room for a Windows partition on your Macs). I get a repeatable kernel panic as follows. Is the "hfs_lock: locking against myself!" error message the same as you are getting when partitioning for Bootcamp with 10.5.2?

  • BootCamp crashed during partitioning

Today, when i was trying to instal windows in my Mac, the software crashed during the partitioning.
I had set the partitioning for 400GB for windows, and 350 for Mac, but after it crashed and logged back in, my partition did not gave me the option to delete the partition, and when i tried to create a new one, i had lost my 400GB, I have tried using disk utility, but only the mac partition shows(capacity: 750GB, Available: 200GB), I also tried repairing it, but when i verified, it said that there was no problem.
Can someone please help me, I bought my mac less than 2 months ago

With all the damage you have done, you might as well boot with Command + R depressed
Then start up disk utility and erase the disk and reinstall Lion again.
Once you done with that you can start over again on Boot Camp.

  • Crashed during partitioning - lost 30GB of space??

    Hello all,
I was installing Bootcamp for the first time on my main internal HD. I set Windows to be a 30GB partition. During the partitioning I got the dimmed screen of death that told me to hold the power key down to restart. It restarted fine (thank you!) but I lost 30GB of HD space. When I went back to the BC assistant it didn't see a Windows partition. I'm worried that if I try again I may loose another 30GB of space. Is there a way for me to get that 30GB of space back before I try again? Obviously, if I can do this without a complete re-format and re-installation of every piece of software that would be the better way for me.
    Thanks!
    Jeff
    MacPro 2.66 / 10.5.2 / 4GB ram / 250GB internal HD / ATIX1900

    Thanks again, Axel.
I might try that, but I need to get a new external HD anyway, so I just might wait until I get it and just install Bootcamp/Windows on that HD. If that doesn't work I might try to go back any fix the fragmentation on the internal HD. It would be nice if the disk utility had a defrag on it though. I would think that would be something apple would have added to it by now.

  • Bootcamp assistant locks up during partitioning

I have tried running Boot Camp assistant twice now, and both times it has locked up during the partitioning process. After the first lock up I booted into the recovery disk and ran disk utility. I repaired the disk and repaired permissions on the disk to see if that would help. But it still locked up when it got to the partitioning part of Boot Camp assistant. I was wondering if any one had any advice on why this may be happening.

You would be better suited posting in the BC forum, if you don't know of it, please click Boot Camp

  • How to Debug During Event Linkage( Reciever Function Module )

    Hi all,
If anybody knows how to debug a reciever function module in event linkage method then please respond. The scenario is that whenever service order is changed the change event will fire the custom business object which has a supertype BUS2088.

    Hi Nishanth,
You can debug event linkage using the transaction SWUE.
Here you can raise an event and specify an object key (using an already created service order).
Just flag the trigger receiver FM synchr. checkbox and your break point will be hit.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,
    Brad
