  • How do I connect a mac cinema display to a dell laptop with VGA output?

I need to connect my coworkers Mac Cinema display to his Dell Laptop with VGA out, running Windows 7. We have a VGA to DVi adapter, but it doesn't work. Do we need a different adapter or a driver? Thanks.

DVI-I offered by most computers has support for up to a wider-than-1920 Digital display AND a complete set of VGA signals in it.
If you have an adapter from DVI [computer] to VGA [display] it has no conversion logic in it and should be called a VGA extractor. It will NOT work the other direction.
I think what you need is a better computer or a worser (VGA) display.

  • How to connect video output from laptop to a TV

    Hi All,
We are in a major quandry. My wife purchased a Mac Book and we are supposed to do the slide show for my sister's wedding which is tomorrow (July 13th). We just got home and the "genius's" at the Apple store gave her the wrong cables. We need to get the cables so that we can hook up her Mac Book to the TV. Does anyone know which cable we need to purchase.
    Thanks!
    KT

Oops, might be too late for an answer but the safest adapter to buy, not knowing anything about the TV, would be the Mini DVI to Video Adapter. Then you should also have on hand an S-Video cable, a Composite Video cable and a Stereo Mini Jack to RCA Audio cable. That should cover it.

  • Jaguar refuses to display on external VGA monitor

    Hi,
I have a PowerBook G3 that I would like to set up for printing. I installed OS 9 on it and it displays just fine on my external VGA monitor. I also tried installing OS 10.1 on it which seems to work fine but when I try to install OS 10.2 the monitor goes off after the disk loads up (after the Apple logo goes away). It will not display on my monitor and I cannot use the built in display since it's broken. What's wrong?
    Thanks

    Apple Rules,
Did you make sure to download the firmware update (if you PowerBook G3 is a firewire model) before upgrading.
    List of available firmware updates
What type of disk is the 10.2 Jaguar disk that you are trying to use to install? Is it a machine specific disk or a full retail install disk?

  • Satellite P300D - No picture through S-Video output

    Hi!
I can't get picture through my S-video output on TV. VGA and HDMI works ok, but my TV is older and I don't have that kind of inputs on TV.
The laptop recognizes TV over the cable, but I can't switch between primary and secondary display.
    (satellite P300D-12L)

    Hi
    Listen dude;
First of all you have to choose s-video channel on your TV.
    Check the TV settings!
Before you would start any video application, you have to choose TV output pressing FN + F5
If video playback software like WinDVD is already running, then you would not be abele toggle between TV and notebook display so firstly switch to TV and then start the software.

  • External VGA stopped working

    Hi,
Approximately week or more ago my external VGA port stopped working - Catalyst control center detects new monitor attached, but there is no output signal (at least monitor says so). Monitor itself & cable is tested and works fine.
It seems that either it is hardware defect or recent windows update caused it. I am not sure how to test it. (Radeon drivers are dated back in 2009)
    Config:
    Thinkpad T60 (2007-66G)
    WinXP Pro 32bit
    ATI Radeon Mobility X1400

    To raise the old topic...
I have exactly the same problem with my 8744-HCG model (T60 widescreen with ATI Radeon x1400). It seems to be a hardware fault (is not operating system or BIOS version dependent). I was however able to go around it by buying an "Advanced mini dock" docking station and using the DVI port. From DVI, the external display works fine. Therefore, my guess is that the video card has lost its capability to power up the analog VGA signal for the external port due to faulty in the circuits.

  • T61p S-Video Output?

    Hi,
I know the T61p doesn't have an S-Video output, but can a VGA to S-Video adapter be used with this laptop?  Such as what is shown here:  http://www.amazon.com/NEW-CONVERTER-S-VIDEO-CABLE-ADAPTER/dp/B000S675JU
    DaHunter

    From amazon reviews:
"The other reviewers did not read the first sentence in the description. Your computer MUST have TV-Out capability for this cable to work, which is rare. You cannot simply connect this cable between your computer and TV and expect to get a signal. It's unfortunate that this product got so many 1-stars due to customers not doing their homework.
This cable works great if your computer has the TV-Out capability but if it does not, then you must purchase a VGA to S-video converter in the $30-60 range"
Imho you'd better off with something like this:

  • Hetis 865GV video output to two monitors

Does anyone know how to set the Hetis 865GV to output simultaneously to the VGA port and to either DVI or S-Video to display the same output on two monitors?

well i dont have an 865 , but that is handled by my video card.
try reading up in the features of that, using a short alt f something key to turn on 2nd display. may have to set it up under video card propertes, an click a check box under tv.

  • No video output to ext monitor in rehearsal mode

(My whole presentation is made up of video and stills)
Hi, when I'm in rehearsal mode (Keynote 6.5.2) i cannot get full screen video output to my ext monitor.  It is only a black screen. In 'play mode' the presentation plays fine and it will give me full screen video but then i have no control of the presentation as it just plays out to the length of the clips used in each slide. I managed to save as a Powerpoint presentation which allowed me to use the play function and control it manually but i could not see the current slide playing in the presenter display. It also wiped all my trimming settings of the videos i am using.
Is there a way to run my presentation in rehearsal mode and have full screen video outputed to an external monitor and see my current slide playing on my presenter display.
My whole presentation is video and stills.
    I am using an iMac, 2.9GHz i5, 8GB Ram, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

if i use an iPad to control it gives me full control to advance on click
Please clarify;   you use the iPad remote control feature to advance manually a presentation on your Mac, or you are playing the presentation on your iPad.
Did you create the presentation on the Mac yourself and what version of Keynote did you use?
    Try this test:
create a new blank presentation then drag and drop (do not copy and paste) four slides on to the navigator panel in the blank presentation
the Navigator panel is the view of slides in a column on the left hand side of the canvas.
check the settings are set for manual play as I described before:
Inspector  > Document > Document > Presentation Type:     change to Normal
select all the slides in the navigator then;    Inspector > Animate > Start Transition:     change to On Click
click the video on the slide then;     Inspector > Animate > Build In > build order button > change drop down menu to:  on click
if the presentation plays manually, drag and drop the remaining slides over.

  • X100e External VGA Issue

    Hello,
We have a X100e that has developed a problem with the external VGA port no longer sending video to a monitor.  We have replaced the video drivers, updated the video driver, replaced cables and monitors, checked the BIOS and basically everything we can think of.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Have you found a resolution?  Thought we'd check here first before placing a support call.
    Thanks!

    Thanks both for you replies.
Still with no success. BIOS options change nothing, windows value added package already latest version. reinstalled anyway. But still nothing.
I already switch the monitors via Fn&F5, either extended or clone or individual. None work.
The fact it shows this symptoms in DOS I suspect points to hardware... doh!
Thanks for all you help though!

  • Connecting VGA port to CRT TV

    Hi,
I have HP elitebook 8440p. Specifications are :
    http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13520_na/13520_na.html
I might need to connect it to my CRT TV with RCA/S video/component available in TV . Laptop has  VGA port, does this VGA port support TV out to CRT TV thru RCA/S video/Component.Second,I also do have docking station with laptop.Docking station comes with DVI port. If I connect DVI output to CRT TV RGB using adapter would it work .
Do I need convertor to connect vga out/DVI out of this laptop to CRT TV or just an adapter would work.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Thanks,Vikas

    Hi,
Yeah, I got the mini-dvi to video adaptor as I found I already had a mini jack to red and white audio lead so it was the cheapest option... the audio quality is pretty great.. the video is a little softer than i thought it would be (but a crt is bound to soften a little) but pretty good... ive got a 16:9 crt and a widescreen 13" macbook but trying to get these widescreen QT files i have to play back in the right format with out losing too much off the edges was a bit tricky.. quite a lot of trial and error before i got the settings right...
i got it to playback QT movies and stuff directly from a slideshow or from imovie... if you want to watch dvd's id just get a cheap dvd player.. the scart input on a basic dvd player will give you better quality and much less fiddling than going via your mac to a CRT...

  • TV signal from T60p VGA port ?

    Hi !
I would like to connect my T60p laptop to a TV. I saw VGA to RCA/S-Video cables available, but they require to have support for TV (RCA/S-Video) output through VGA port.
This is the recommendation from the VGA to Svideo/RCA cable seller: "please be sure to check the manual of your system to make sure the Video Card of your system supports TV (RCA/S-Video) output through VGA port. Not every Video card will work with this adaptor. Only certain Video cards which have TV Output function built into VGA port will work through this adaptor "
Can someone tell me if the T60p ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 video adapter supports this ? so I would not need to buy a more expensive VGA to TV converter, but just get the VGA-to-Svvideo/RCA cable.
    Thanks,
    Laszlo

If your older TV has either component (seperate RGB inputs) or VGA input with separate left/right audio jacks, you should be able to use either Apple's component or composite video cables. I have an iPad1 and I output Netflix from my iPad using the composite video cable as iPad1 doesn't output HD video, but standard VGA. Works great!

  • How to get conferance video on both o/p HDMI ports simultaneously in sx20 telepresence codec ?

I had try to get video output in both HDMI out port in SX20 codec , but when i get on one device the other display is off  , so my question is that , can i get output on both monitors at same time ? if yes , than how ?

    Hello,
First of all you need to verify that the "Videos > Monitors : Role" is set to Dual and then you can configure the HDMI output mode to Primary, Secondary or Presentation only.
This can be done via the WEB GUI or via the CLI over SSH
    http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/endpoint/quick-set-sx20/tc7/administration-guide/sx20-quickset-administrator-guide-tc72.pdf
If your search "Video Monitors" in that document you will see the commands if needed.

  • How connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

how connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • MacBook Pro retina display goes black while outputting video through HDMI to external monitor??

I frequently connect my MacBook Pro to my 42inch Panasonic TV to watch movies/videos. I use VLC media player for all my playback. The problem I'm running into is that when I put VLC media player into fullscreen mode on my external display, my retina display goes black (I can still see the finder bar at the top and when I mouse down the dock appears but the rest of the display shows all black. If I click on Safari it will open but I can't see it on my MacBook display unless I take the external display out of fullscreen mode.
I would still like to be able to do things on my MacBook while video is playing. I've played around with the display settings but they're pretty limited and I can't figure out how to get it to work the way I'd like. I've seen people having up to 3 or 4 displays hooked up, I'm just trying to hookup one. I would consider this a severe limitation of OS X if I'm not able to separately manage the displays. Hopefully there is a setting or something I'm just not seeing. Thanks.

Yeah, fullscreen mode still doesn't play nice with multiple monitors. The common workaround is to stretch the window out to the edges of the screen instead of using actual fullscreen mode.
