Re: Microphone Function with respect to Satellite A665- 6050 – Laptop Innovation - 25th Anniversary

Dear Sir or Madam:
    I purchased the above identified product because of an unsatisfactory experience I had with my former laptop when I needed to SKYPE my children while they were abroad.  Because of your product literature underlining your superior audio capabilities, I thought I had solved my problems.  Unfortunately, this is not the case.
My daughter is preparing to leave for South Africa in 2 days and we sought to enable my SKYPE.  All was well until we realized that the microphone does not work.  Then, by googling this issue, I found that I was not alone.  It was not an issue of personal computer literacy, but one of Toshiba product failure.
Many user of the customer forum pages have opined about their uncertainty as to whether the corporate entity ever accesses the forum page to address customer concerns, because Toshiba has failed to fix the problem and/or post that fix on the customer forum pages.  What a creative and sure-fire way to discourage brand loyalty!
    Please advise me as to how you will address this issue and how you will make me whole.  Your apparent lack of interest in addressing this product failure issue can only have a deleterious impact on my desire to purchase any Toshiba product in the future.  From this experience, I have also learned that I should google the customer forum pages of any company from which I contemplating making a purchase so that I can gauge the corporation’s commitment to customer service and standing behind its products.
While the lesson is important going forward, that is now what I purchased from Toshiba.  I purchased a laptop with superior audio capabilities and a built-in, working microphone.  Please make it happen.

I respond to the majority of unanswered forum posts. Toshiba definitely monitors the forum, although this is a peer support forum. Customer support is reached via telephone.
Try reinstalling these drivers.
Realtek Audio Driver(v6.0.1.6069; 03-30-2010; 88.19M)
Toshiba Web Camera Application(vV2.0.3.37; 05-30-2012; 86.43M)
If it worked recently, you could try using System Restore to restore a previous restore point from before this became an issue.

    I have restarted the phone and reset it - Siri still not working. It does not pick up any voice - just lists some options.

    I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
    As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
    I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
    As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

  • I can't install the drivers on Satellite A665

    Hi every body,
    I have a problem with my new Satellite A665 laptop.
    I downloaded TV tuner driver but I can't install it on my computer but every time when Im trying to install it the computer ask me the security question and I agree on that.
    After that the extraction for the installation file happened and suddenly something like owl pic appear for a moment and disappear after that without install anything.
    The same thing happened when I tried to install the 3D staff that I downloaded from Toshiba site on my computer.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

    > I paied my new laptop and open its cartoon, and switch it on, and just click on next...next, after that the windows 7 start to work.
    Exactly. Every new Toshiba notebook is preinstalled with Toshiba recovery image and this recovery image contains all necessary drivers, tools and utilities so it is not necessary to install anything.
    >... I did't pay any CD and install the windows from it.
    I dont understand this sentence. Fact is that new notebooks are delivered without any installations CD/DVD discs. You must create recovery DVD alone. How to do this is described in users manuals document. Check it out.
    Sorry but I must ask you now: what is your problem now?

    My Satellite A665-S6086 Laptop uses Intel HD Graphics, and I wish to increase the dedicated video RAM.
    Through dxdiag, it says I have 1696MB of Approximate Total Memory, but I only use 64Mb according to: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/analysis.aspx?name=The-Elder-Scrolls-V:-Skyrim&id=11231&se...
    I went into the BIOS Setup -> Advanced, but was unable to find anything to alter the amount of Video RAM.
    If anybody has a solution to this, please share it.
    Thanks,

  • Satellite A665-S6080 Shuts Down During Flash Videos

    I have a Satellite A665-S6080 laptop with Windows 7 64x which I've had for 3 years now. For a year now it will shut down when I am using a video converter program ie: Leavino Video Converter, Win AVI All In One. I would take a video I have on my computer and try to convert it to another format and about 10 minutes in the converting stage, my laptop will just shut down. It doesn't matter what converting software I use, It will shut down. If the video is small (under 500 MB) I might not shut down. I've tried to convert 1.5 GB video and my laptop would shut down.  If I play flash videos online it might shut down as well. Also when I play Candy Crush online it has shut down as well.
    I've heard people mention that the problem could be a bad power switch, however, my problem seems to be video related. Has anyone had this problem like mine? Any suggestions on fixing the problem? Thanks.
    If any other info is needed please let me know.

    See this post for flash player issue : http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Video-Display/Youtube-question-Try-to-run-full-screen-and-just-get-a-bl...
    Video converting is very hardware intensive and your laptop can get to hot and shut down.
    Do you use a cooling pad and does your vents and fan need cleaned? I ask that because you stated that it has only shut down for the last year and mainly when converting video files.(flash issue already noted above)

  • Satellite A665-S6094 BIOS Instability with 4GB of RAM

    I recently upgraded the RAM in my Sattelite A665-S6094 laptop to 8GB, and I was cheerfully greeted with frequent memory-related bluescreens and an inability to use the sleep function.
    The laptop works perfectly with the original 2x 2Gb modules installed, but problems show up if I add any more.
    When trying to wake the computer from sleep, it gets to the login screen and promptly shuts down as if I pulled the power. This crash is not logged in the system anywhere.
    While in Windows, I periodically get a stop error classified as "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" with no apparent direct cause.
    These problems only exist when the installed RAM exceeds the original 4GB size.
    I am running the most recent BIOS revision; version 2.20.

    Hi sanremo,
    I saw the document you suggest and I think it was quite useful. I realized that my processor, my chipset and the system supports 64-bit edition of Windows, so I think I will try to install it. I would like to try Windows XP Pro 64-bit and not Vista, but Toshiba do not supply drivers for XP 64-bit. They have available XP 32-bit and Vista 32-bit & 64-bit. So I will try the Vista Business 64-bit.
    Thanks a lot both for your replies.

    Hello!
    Well I have problem with my Laptop, recently the led on my Keyboard (like eco utility, pause/play media, etc... and the mouse pad led) don't function well... the only way to set on them, is going to the BIOS and setup the LEDS ON...
    I wait for your help
    cheers!

    Sometimes resetting the motherboard helps.
    With the battery and AC adapter removed, close the Power switch for ten seconds.
    Re-attach those, press the Power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press the F2 key while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Press F9 to restore the BIOS default settings, press F10, and then select Yes (Exit Saving Changes). The computer will restart.

  • Re: Satellite A665-13V - Cannot enable WLAN Funktion

    Good morning,
    I have the Toshiba Satellite A665-13V without the 3D function when I bought it was installed there on it Windows Vista operating system, I do not think much of Vista, I have the hard drive formatted immediately partitioned and Windows 7 Pro x64, including all new driver installed!
    After about two days I have accidentally pressed any key and thus the internal wireless adapter disabled,
    Now I am faced with the problem that I can not enable the feature!
    The Toshiba Value Added Package, I had already installed in two different versions to get the function of the FN keys, but nothing happens when I press the FN + F8 key, all other FN commands remain untouched!
    Does anyone of you how do you activate again specifically for this model, the internal wireless adapter?

    Hi
    Please check if Wlan card is visible in the device manager as suggested by Keany.
    In case its visible, the Wlan driver was installed properly and the lack of FN+F8 functionality seem to be related to missing Toshiba software
    You have installed only VAP (value added package)??
    In this case you are missing the [Flash Cards Support Utility.|http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=153&selProduct=5383&selSh ortMod=987&language=13&selOS=30&selType=all&yearup load=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=al lMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=all &selectedLanguage=13&type=all&page=2&ID=75049&OSID =30&driverLanguage=42]
    The Flash Cards Support Utility controls the FN buttons and needs to be installed next to the VAP.

  • Relative path for Download directory folder.I created a firefox profile and i wanted to use this profile in multiple machines.I wanted to use a relative path for download directory with respect to the profile folder.I need this on Linux machines

    I have a use case where I need to use different download directories with different firefox profiles.I need to use this profiles in multiple linux machines.
    I need to have a relative path to my download directory with respect to the profile folder.
    Ex: I have a selenium test which opens a website and downloads it to my machine.I want this downloaded file to go into some specific folder relative to this profile folder.How do I do this??

    That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM.  Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
    Is slim involved?  Probably.  That is the source of many problems.  But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
    1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
    2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx".  Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit.  That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult.  So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
    3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc.  This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic.  Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them.  Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
    Edit: adding one more:
    4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox.  I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

  • How to generate a pulse waveform 90 deg phas shifted with respect to a pulse generated using a counter in PXI 6070E daq card ?

    Hi
    I ma using 6070E daq. I am generating a infinite pulse train using one of the counters. I want to generate another pulse train which should 90 degress phase shifted with respect to the previsously generated pulse. How to implement this using the counters in the DAQ card.

    Hi Gopal,
    1) yes the frequency generator is programmable. You have 2 timbebases (10MHz and 100kHz) and you can divide down by any integer between 1-16. Those are the only frequencies you can use.
    2) The way counters work is that you can apply a gate signal to the counter which will cutoff the output. Therefore, you can have a second counter generating a pulse train of an equivalent frequency to the frequency generator (fout) but you don't want it to start immediately. You want it to start only after a short delay (equivalent to a 90d phase). Therefore, you need to "gate" or prevent the output on this counter for that small delay period of time. The way you can do this is by using a second counter to create a delayed pulse. You would
    connect the output of that counter to the gate of your pulse train function. That way, during the delay period of the pulse, you won't be outputing your pulse train yet. When the pulse (high-time) of your pulse reaches the gate, then your pulse train will start generating its pulse train (which is consequently delayed by the amount of delay used in the single delayed pulse counter). Since you don't want your pulse to go back low, you will have to turn off or clear your pulse counter while it is high. That way the signal on the gate will remain high forever.
    Your better solution is to use a PCI-660x card to perform this action. You will have more counters which will give you a greater range of frequencies to choose from and you will have more accurate timing of the signals.
    Anyway, hope that clears things up. Have a good day.

  • How do you integrate a column with respect to another column

    I have two columns of data, one is time and the other is velocity. I want to be able to integrate velocity with respect to time, but I can not find a function which will let me do this. Preferably, I'd like to do a cumulative trapezoidal integration, such as the one in Matlab. The function "cumtrapz" does not work the same in mathscript as it does in matlab. The "trapz" function did not seem to integrate the columns in the way that I wanted it to, leaving me with just a number.
    Is there any way I can recreate the "cumtrapz" function from Matlab in Mathscript?
    Thanks.

    The cumtrapz in MathScript can not accept a time array as input. Then, you have to write your own script to calculate the cumulative trapezoid integration. For example, the following script generates a sin wave and calculates the cumulative trapezoidal integration.
    t = 0:0.1:pi;
    x = sin(t);
    y = 0.5*(x(1:(end-1))+x(2:end)).*(t(2:end)-t(1:(end-1))); %trapizoidal integration
    y = cumsum(y); %cumulative sum

  • Csv file reading and voltage and current plotting with respect to time samples XY plotting

    Hallo,
             I've been struggling with reading  a comma separated value (csv) file from another instrument (attached). I need to plot this data for analysis. I have 5 column of data with numbers of rows, the first three row is the information of the measurement. I want to read 4th row as string and rest of the row as numbers. I want to plot 2nd column (i1)  with respect to TIMESTAMP; 4th column(u2) wrt TIMESTAMP. And finally plotting i1 (x-axis) vs.. u2 (y-axis) in labview. Could anyone help me.
    In excel its so easy to plot  but I don't know how its done in labview.

    Start by opening the file.  Then use the Read Text File function.  You can right-click on it and configure it to read lines.  First make it read 3 lines (this is your extra header data).  Then make it read a single line.  That will give you your channel names.  Then read the rest of the file (disable the read by line and wire a -1 into the number of bytes to read).  Then use the Spreadsheet String to Array function to give you your data.
    I would recommend going through the LabVIEW tutorials if you are really new at this.

  • Finding Angle with respect to X axis in VB?

    In my VB program, I used the FindStraightEdge function to get a line for a particular edge. I would like to know what is the angle with respect to X axis. In the Measurement Studio, I use the "Caliper" to find this angle; however, in VB the Caliper function doesn't seems to have an option of measuring angle. Am I missing something here???
    I found the "FindAngleBetweenLines" function. Is this the only method to measure angle?
    Thanks,
    Simon Teng

    Simon,
    Probably the easiest way to do it is to create a variable that contains a line going from 0,0 to 1,0 and use the "FindAngleBetweenLines".
    Another way is to use the endpoints of the line to calculate its angle relative to horizontal. You can use atan(dy/dx).

  • External Function with a Pointer to a Callback Function Inside a DLL

    Hi.
    I'm loading a DLL and trying to call a function with the following prototype:
    Func1(HANDLE, hHandle, LPVOID (*pCallback)(UINT, UINT LPVOID), CHAR* sPath)
    Now, I have no problem with the variable types, because CVI 9.0.1 recognizes all of them and I have no problem with LoadLibrary() nor with GetProcAddress().
    But, how do I pass a pointer to a callback that is inside the DLL I'm trying to use.
    I've tried to declare the callback like this:
    LPVOID (CALLBACK Callback)(UINT iDevNo, UINT evEvent, LPVOID pData);
    and call the function Func1 like this:
    (Func1)(hHandle, &Callback, NULL);
    but this gets me:
     Undefined symbol '_Callback@12' referenced in "source.c".
    Hope I can get some help.
    I appreciate your time on this issue.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Daniel,
    First, you have to make sure that the callback function is exported by the DLL, so that the program that uses the DLL can access the function name identifier. Then, you have to make sure that you call GetProcAddress not just on Func1, but also on the exported callback function. You need to store both function address values in their respective function pointers. You then can pass the callback function pointer as an argument to the Func1 call.
    It's probably cleaner if you define typedefs for all your function pointers, in the calling program:
    typedef LPVOID (__stdcall *CallbackType) (UINT , UINT, LPVOID);
    typedef ??? (__stdcall *Func1Type) (HANDLE, hHandle, CallbackType, CHAR*);
    CallbackType     CallbackPtr;
    Func1Type        Func1Ptr;
    dllHandle = LoadLibrary ("...");
    CallbackPtr = (CallbackType)GetProcAddress (dllHandle, "Callback");
    Func1Ptr = (Func1Type)GetProcAddress (dllHandle, "Func1");
    Func1Ptr (..., hHandle, CallbackPtr, NULL);
    Boa Sorte!
