Re:Nodemanager

Hi
i am upgrading the Sun Jdk1.5 -1.6 in weblogic9.2 i am getting the ssl handshake error so i choose plain instead of ssl in nodemanager and made securelistener=false in nodemanager does this create any problem when i use it in production can anyone help me please as it is working well in development
Thanks
Sandeep

Although the documentation recommends to use Node Manger over SSL in production, i believe its fine to use it over non-ssl as well.. even in production..
Mostly configuration data are passed over the network and when the communication happens b/w Node Manager and Admin Server.
Mostly the machines where NM or Admin Server runs are in a secured env i.e. behind a firewall.. DMZ.. so its OK to have the communication b/w the Node Manger and Admin Server over non-ssl...
But, if you need to resolve the handhskake error, which i think you should.. enanble ssl debug on the admin server and node manager and check the hanshake message.. u can paste the error here
add -Dssl.debug=true in startWeblogic.cmd and startNodeManager.cmg

  • Nodemanager does not restart managed server after Linux OS reboot

    Running Linux 2.6.18, Sun JDK 1.6.0_14, and WebLogic 10.3, we have a correctly functioning nodemanager watching a single managed server. If I kill -9 the managed server, the nodemanager fires up a new one immediately. If, however, we reboot the box, the nodemanager will start cleanly and will not start the managed server. It appears to believe the node should remain down and reports its status as UNKNOWN.
    I've seen where this is a known problem on Windows boxes, easily gotten around by supplying the -Xrs parameter to the startup parms for the managed server. (Section 5 of the general nodemanager config doc.) I don't see, however, where there's an equally clean solution for Linux.
    Things I've tried:
    + When I set the server to DEBUG, it shows zero sign of receiving a shutdown signal. It's dumping loads of cluster messages, etc, into the log and then suddenly the log just ends so it's dying via kill -9. If the nodemanager is still running at that time, it might try to restart the managed server and log it somewhere as permanently failed.
    + The nodemanager only logs to INFO level, and logs no evidence of deciding to leave the node down. (DEBUG is an invalid LogLevel, so that's all I've got.)
    + A restart signal sent from our AdminServer (on another Linux box) successfully starts the managed node through the nodemanager. Nothing unusual occurs or is logged.
    Things I'm curious about:
    + Is there some way to see in what state the nodemanager believes the managed server to be?
    + Is there some value in some doc somewhere that might say the server should not be restarted?
    + Is there not a log of NodeManager client actions? I don't see anything in domain.log or AdminServer.log except when the NM is down.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    can you set NativeVersionEnabled to true. We have faced this in windows which was fixed by changing this property. Some notes from that issue:
    Faced this interesting issue in Windows 2008 environment. Managed Servers were started by node manager and it was expected that on a system restart after a crash, the node manager will restore the state of the managed servers to the state it was before the crash. Node Manger was configured to run as a windows service. Hence it started after the server restart. But the individual managed servers were not getting started. Interestingly, for the managed servers started by the node manager there were no <Managed_Server_Name>.lck file in the <Server>/data/NodeManger folder.
    To fix this always set the following properties in the nodemanager.properties on the node maager home directory.
    CrashRecoveryEnabled=true /* This by default is set to false. This needs to be turned for auto restart after crash to work */
    NativeVersionEnabled=true /* This is by default set to true and it should be set as such. If you turn this off on platforms for which weblogic provide native JNI libraries ( e.g. as in Windows 2008) then this wont create the .lck file and hence node manager wont restart the managed server after the crash.
    Note: As per official documentation .lck files are required for weblogic node managers to do auto restart after system crash
    From Official documentation:
    After the system is restarted, Node Manager checks each managed domain specified in the nodemanager.domains file to determine if there are any server instances that were not cleanly shutdown. This is determined by the presence of any lock files which are created by Node Manager when a WebLogic Server process is created. This lock file contains the process identifier for WebLogic Server startup script. If the lock file exists, but the process ID is not running, Node Manager will attempt to automatically restart the server.
    If the process is running, Node Manager performs an additional check to access the management servlet running in the process to verify that the process corresponding to the process ID is a WebLogic Server instance.

  • How to configure Oracle WebLogic NodeManager as a MS service

    Hi Experts,
    I installed OBIEE 11.1.1.5, and i want to configure OBIEE start/stop as windows services.
    for that and after a successful configuration, Oracle configure by default two windows services: Weblogic Node Manager and FMW 11g Process Manager (OPMN).
    The problem is that Weblogic Node Manager is missing as a widows service.
    How can i do to create and configure it manually, please.
    Thank in advance.
    Best regards,

    Hi,
    i see it, but that is for install Admin and manage server, what i'm asking for is Oracle weblogic NodeManager.
    the windows service i need is named "oracle WebLogic NodeManager (e_obiee11_wlserver_10.3)" or somethiing like that, is the first in the page of your link:
    Weblogic Node Manager
    *(configured as a MS Windows Service if Custom Install route is chosen when installing Weblogic)*
    I'm asking how to create it.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with the NodeManager in Weblogic 10.0 MP1

    Hi,
    I have a problem starting the Nodemanager successfully. I have currently installed BEA Weblogic 10.0 MP1. The admin server is getting started successfully. When, I start the Nodemanager with the command:
    startnodemanager -machine <hostname>, it neither gives the success message nor the error message. It comes to a stand still. Please see the below text, which appears on the Command prompt, when I run the nodemanager command.

    It seems that node manager appends system PATH to the java.library.path of the server it is trying to start. The problem is spaces in the system PATH:
    -Djava.library.path=C:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\bin;.;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\native\win\32;C:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\bin;C:\bea\JROCKI~1\jre\bin;C:\bea\JROCKI~1\bin;C:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\native\win\32\oci920_8;c:\program files\imagemagick-6.2.8-q16;C:\Program Files\Support Tools\;C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\
    java expects another option after space.
    How do I make nodemanager not to append system path to server's java.library.path?
    Is there a way to make node manager start server nodes with java.library.path value in quotation marks?
    P.S. I'm running node manager as windows service. I saw a post that solves this problem by starting node manager from command line but this solution is not sufficient.

    This news group is about JRockit. People here tend not to know that
    much about non-JRockit products (like nodemanager). Try some WLx forum,
    they should be able to answer your question!

  • Facing error in starting managed server from nodemanager

    Hi All,
    I have installed WebLogic server 10.3.4 and installed OSB 11.1.1.4.0. I created domain with one admin server and one managed server for osb. My nodemanager is started and reachable. The error above says "Address already in use" but I am able to start my managed server through startManagedWebLogic.cmd command.
    Can anyone please tell me what could be the issue. It is really urgent. Please help!!

    Hi Roshni,
    It is likely that a configuration is missing or not set properly in the Node Manager properties file (nodemanager.properties) since the managed server can be started up using startManagedWebLogic.cmd but not with Node Manager. I would complete the following steps to fix the problem:
    1. Go to %WLS_HOME%\common\nodemanager and open up nodemanager.properties (Make a backup of the file first). NOTE: WLS_HOME is your WebLogic Server home.
    2. Look for the parameters "StartScriptEnabled" and "StopScriptEnabled". They should be set to true. If not, please set them to true.
    3. Save and close the file.
    4. Restart the Node Manager
    If you are still unable to start the manager server using Node Manager, you may need to update the DEBUG_PORT parameter in setDomainEnv.cmd located in %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%\user_projects\domains\%DOMAIN_HOME%\bin (always make a backup before changing a configuration file). You may refer to Oracle Support note 1272642.1 for more information about the nodemanager.properties file and how to configure the DEBUG_PORT parameter in setDomainEnv.cmd if needed.

  • ClassNotFoundException When Starting Managed Server with NodeManager

    Hi Experts,
    ENV:
    Weblogic Server 10.3.3
    Webcenter 11.1.1.3
    My managed server can be brought up correctly by stopManagedWebLogic.sh <ManagedServerName>. But when trying to start them up, app on that server can not run correctly, and node manager log complained that below classes are not found:
    oracle.jrf.wls.JRFStartup
    oracle.security.jps.wls.JpsWlsStartupClass
    oracle.core.ojdl.weblogic.ODLConfiguration
    oracle.jrf.AppContextStartup
    oracle.ias.cache.Startup
    oracle.dms.wls.DMSStartup
    My Nodemanager is setup following instructions in OBE.Administering Managed Servers by Using the Node Manager(http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/wls103/installconfig/admin_mngd_srvr/admin_ms_using_nm.htm#t4). Output javaclaspath of setWLSEnv.sh has been copy&pasted to admin console->server->..->Server start->classpath
    Thanks,
    Todd

    Trying setting the property StartScriptEnabled=true instead of false.
    You can change this in the nodemanager.properties file (usually located in the directory <middleware-home>/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager)
    The classes are set in the startscripts, such as setDomainEnv, which is called by startWebLogic.
    The latter script is set by default in the nodemanager.properties file, through the property StartScriptName=startWebLogic.cmd.

  • Error when starting NodeManager .. pls help

    When attempting to start node manager i recieve the following error:
    <Sep 30, 2004 1:30:47 PM EDT> <Error> <NodeManager> <Node manager could not find the required library, libNodeManager.so, in path - /usr/j2se/jre/lib/i386/client:/usr/j2se/jre/lib/i386:/usr/j2se/jre/../lib/i386:/export/home/bea/weblogic81/server/lib/solaris:/export/home/bea/weblogic81/server/lib/solaris/oci920_8:/usr/lib>
    i have copied the file, libnodemanager.so to every directory in the path above, spelling and case are correct, permissions set to rwxrwxrwx but still get error.
    wl 8.1 sp2 solaris 9.1.
    please help if you can.
    thanks.
    vb

    Windows 2000 is also technically NT 5.0 right? So in your case, upgrading from NT4.0 to NT5.0 solved the problem? Okay, i'll try that as a last alternative, but I'm still hoping that it can be solved by just doing some tinkering on the configuration. Anybody? :)

  • Nodemanager doesn't display the domain name

    Hi
    Iam new to wlst scripting and concepts of nodemanager. My aim is to start the server using nodemanager through wlst.
    First i invoked the wlst.sh shell script
    then i started the nodemanager by using startNodeManager command
    Then i tried to connect to nodemanager through nmconnect
    Now if i type the command nm() it displays the following
    Currently connected to Node Manager to monitor the domain {0}.
    It doesn't display my domain name , instead displays {0}. I guess because of the domain name not set properly , i am not able to view the status of the admin server. For this iam using the command nmserverstatus("AdminServer") , it displays the status as UNKNOWN.
    Can you please let me know what is that iam missing.

    To ask Apple to fix this, you need to repost it at
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
    If I remember right, display of such domains in the original script may depend on whether the domain officials have policies in place to safeguard against potential confusion between names that look the same in cyrillic and latin.  But it could also be a simple oversight.
    Each browser may be different:  Do Firefox and Chrome behave the same?

  • GC install fails on OMS Configuration step with NodeManager

    I'm trying to install OEM Grid Control and I'm having some problems getting past the OMS Configuration step in the installation. I'm not very familiar with Oracle products. I've completed all the configuration steps listed in the documentation and in order to resolve an earlier problem, I deleted the Keynectis and Telesec certificates from the cacerts java keystore. NodeManager is being run as a service, though I think the configuration process is launching a new instance because it can't connect to the service. I've also been unable to connect to the service through the WLST nmConnect function, though it's possible my parameters are incorrect. If the only problem is that GCDomain is not registered in the nodemanager.domains file, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, because I put it in the nodemanager.domains file located at C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\common\nodemanager:
    #Domains and directories created by Configuration Wizard
    #Fri Apr 22 15:23:16 EDT 2011
    wl_server=C\:\\Oracle\\Middleware\\wlserver_10.3\\samples\\domains\\wl_server
    medrec-spring=C\:\\Oracle\\Middleware\\wlserver_10.3\\samples\\domains\\medrec-spring
    GCDomain=C\:\\Oracle\\gc_inst\\user_projects\\domains\\GCDomain
    medrec=C\:\\Oracle\\Middleware\\wlserver_10.3\\samples\\domains\\medrec
    note - the file paths are correct and use escaped slashes where appropriate, but this message board system is turning the last double backslash into a line break. I can't find any html solution that works, so just take my word for it
    I restarted NodeManager after making the change as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I have a JDK already installed, but isn't JRockit being used by NodeManager in this case? Does NodeManager need to run on the JDK?
    Regardless, I tried changing JavaHome in the nodemanager.properties file to the JDK/jre directory, but the log file still has the original path. The log seems to indicate that the process thinks that NodeManager is down because it can't connect, so it launches a new instance and uses default configuration parameters, which naturally wouldn't have my changes to the nodemanager.domain or nodemanager.properties files.
    Also, the log says it can't connect to NodeManager at win2008x64-2:7,401. I'm not sure why there's a comma in there, but by the time this configuration step fails, there is a javaw.exe process listening on port 7401 and if I retry the step without killing it, the step will fail earlier because the port is already bound.

    SecureListener=falseYou have turned off secure listener for node manager, hence it will accepting 'plain' requests only and cant handle ssl handshakes
    nmConnect('weblogic','welcome1','x.x.x.x',5556,'MyOSBDomain')Here you have left the 6th parameter to nmConnect as blank. The default in this case will be ssl and nmConnect is excepting ssl handshake response back from nodemanager, but nm cant reply ssl because it is not enabled.
    Solution
    1) Turn on Secure Listener = true. Then you can use this exact syntax for nmConnect.
    2) Keep secure listener to false. use nmConnect() with all 6 parameters
    nmConnect([username, password], [host], [port], [domainName], [domainDir] [nmType])
    Pass 'plain' for the nmType attribute

  • Problems with config nodemanage SSL setings weblogic10.3

    Hi,
    I am new to build weblogic cluster. But I got some problems when I build it.
    I tried to build a simple architecture as a demo to understand the cluster.
    I have two PCs with XP
    PC1 and PC2
    I defined machine0 to PC1 and machine1 to PC2 in the weblogic.
    pc1 IP:192.168.1.102
    pc2 IP:192.168.1.103
    I created a domain on the PC1 testDomain
    I created a admin server and one node on the PC1(machine0):testAdmin, testNode1
    I created another node on the PC2(machine1):testNode2
    Cluter: testCluster, testNode1, testNode2 added
    Cluster Address:192.168.1.102
    I launch the nodeManager menully.
    I wanted to start testNode1 in the admin console(web page)
    It's seems working, I can see the status changed to "RUNNING". But I got the message in the console
    Invalid/unknown SSL header was received from peer localhost - 127.0.0.1 during SSL handshake
    It seems there is something wrong with the SSL handshanke, this message will appeared when I enter the
    testDomain->Environment->Server page in the admin console.
    I launched the nodeManager with the SecureListener=false
    and the setting in the testAdmin, testNode1, testNode2 is SSL Listen Port Enabled UNCHECKED
    keystores setting is "Dome identity and Demo Trust"
    In the machine0 the node manger tab Type is Plain.
    My question is:
    1. I didn't setting the SSL why the server will use SSL to communitate each othe.
    2. If I want to use Nodemanager to control the node server, is the SSL must be setting?
    3. What cause the message I got, is between nodemanager and testAdmin or testAdmin and testNode1? Is there any way to solve it?
    4. I found weblogic tool utils.CertGen can generate SSL certificates, how to use it to recreate the DemoIdentity.jks and DemoTrust.jks, is it possible?
    My operations are all focus on the PC1 I believe the SSL setting is the cause, please give me some advise.
    Thanks

    Make sure you restart the nodemanger service or script when you make changes to the nodemananger.properties file. They don't usually pick up on the fly. Previous post was correct in that the errors are probably within the cert. Turn off SSL and test and it will confirm. If still getting issues turn off the hostname verifier on the admin server (on keystore page or SSL under the admin server config).

  • Attempting to start NodeManager with WLST

    I have a WLST script that list all the configured nodemangers in a domain. I use that list to make a menu. In theory I am trying to have a user pick a nodemanager from the menu and start it without providing any other information. It's not working out well. Here is what I am doing:
    #Create Menu
    def display():
    nm = cmo.getMachines()
    menuItems = {}
    num = 1
    for nodeName in nm:
    print "%d. %-3s" % (num, nodeName.getName())
    menuItems[num] = nodeName.getName()
    num = num + 1
    try:
    selection = raw_input("Make a Selection: ")
    print ""
    print "You selected %s" % menuItems[int(selection)]
    choice = menuItems[int(selection)]
    return choice
    except KeyError, ValueError:
    print "%s is not a menu option!" %
    I make the following call: pick = display()
    This stores the nodemanager name in var pick to use later.
    I then run the following method: StartNodeManager(pick)
    The contents of the method:
    StartNodeManager(pick)
    serverRuntime()
    WLHome=cmo.getWeblogicHome()
    NODEManagerHome=WLHome+'/common/nodemanager'
    domainConfig()
    cd('/Machines/' pick '/NodeManager/' +pick)
    nodeIP = cmo.getListenAddress()
    nodePort = cmo.getListenPort()
    startNodeManager(verbose='true', NodeManagerHome=NODEManagerHome, ListenPort=nodePort, ListenAddress=nodeIP)
    When 'startNodeManager(verbose='true', NodeManagerHome=NODEManagerHome, ListenPort=nodePort, ListenAddress=nodeIP)' command is run I get the following error:
    Problem invoking WLST - Traceback (innermost last):
    File "/home/beaadmin/bin/scripts/wlst/nodemanager-v103.py", line 123, in ?

    File "<iostream>", line 1589, in startNodeManager
    TypeError: setProperty(): 2nd arg can't be coerced to String
    Is that saying the NodeManagerHome value is throwing the exception? When I set all the vars manually in WLST and run the startNodeManager command it runs fine.
    Any ideas?
    The code for the StartNodeManager method is as follows:
