Hi Dan,
I am curious about how you are using the ImageData graphics. If you are
using them as static, graphical window elements, then ImageData is probably
appropriate. However, if your intention is to read in, display, or
manipulate various images, then we may have a better solution for you. I
try not to use this forum to blatantly advertise our product, so I will
send you more detail privately. However, anyone else who wants to know
more about our Imaging Developer products can contact me directly, or check
out our web site at http://www.msfw.com
I am also happy to answer questions about imaging solutions in general.
Regards,
Jeanne

Russ,
To clarify... FORTify Beacon, Brahma's business graphics library, is not
an OCX. It is a TOOL-based library supported on all Forte-supported
platforms. Thus, it resides in the development repository, is treated as any
other supplier plan, and may be deployed using Forte's built-in
capabilities.
FORTify Activate, another product in the FORTify suite, is a pre-wrappered
set of ActiveX controls. This may have been the source of the confusion.
Thanks,
-Bob

Dale,
One thing you need to know about OCX's and Forte. To work properly they
should not have nested interfaces, i.e. OCX's imbedded within
themselves, and they need to follow Microsoft's apartment model
threading. Version 4.0 of Forte might loosen these requirements but for
now, they apply. I was not aware that Brahma's Business graphics
implementation was via an OCX, that stinks.
Thanks,

    Hello,
I have a question that maybe someone can answer. Are there any
commercial graphics libraries available for Forte?
I know that in theory you can use OCXs, but the ones that we
    have do
not work reliably with forte. I would be interested in hearing
    about
OCXs that are known to work with Forte.
Specifically we are looking for scheduling related widgets,
calendars, gantt charts and bar charts.
I already know about Brahma Software's OCX library and the
    calendar
shareware file under the forte tech support pages.
    Thanks,

  • Having a problem saving the graphics on a canvas.

I'm having a problem saving graphics on a canvas. It draws on the canvas but when another window comes up the graphics disappear. I put in a method to take the graphics on the canvas and repaint it with the graphics. But this comes up blank. So I don't know why this is happening. It is probably the paint method but I don't know why. If anyone has any ideas could you please respond because I have had this problem for ages now and it's driving me mad and I have to get this finished or I'm going to be a lot of trouble. I'll show you the code for the class I am concerned with. It is long but most of it can be disregarded. The only parts which are relevent are the paint method and where the drawline e.t.c are called which is in the mouse release

  • Saving compound graphics in structured documents OR how to create a link in a graphic

    Hi all,
    Frame 9 structured.
We need to make a graphic icon into a link.  In nonstructured documents (we have a different product that is not in structure), we just create a text frame on top of the graphic in the anchored frame, and add a hypertext marker to it.
But in the structured docs, when you do that, Frame generates a .cgm file since the graphic is compound.  Is there either:
    1. Another way to make a graphic into a link
    2. A way to persist the compound graphic into a file that does not get overwritten with a different name each time and that is also in a .png format.
We have tried tweaking the R/W rules to have Frame write out a PNG, and so far, this is not working.  Here's the code block we tried:
    element "graphic" {
      is fm Graphic element;
      writer anchored frame  {
        export to file "$(docname).png" as "PNG";
I can see no verifiable effect from this.  Frame continues to generate a new .cgm file.  And even if it did generate a .png, I assume it would increment the number in the filename.  We have an images directory that contains all the images and we cannot support a bunch of loose images in the document directory, especially ones whose filename change all the time.
Anyone know if there are workarounds for this?  We are budgeted to move to Frame 11 in 2013, so if there's a fix in that version, it would expedite our migration.
Thanks very much for any help,
    Shelley Hoose
    Rogue Wave Software

    Shelley,
If there is more than one item in the anchored frame, I don't think there is any way to change the default behavior, that is, the generation of a CGM composite. Maybe you could through with an import/export API client, but that sounds like an extreme option.
I would suggest that this is not a bug, though. The possible layout variations in a document are endless and at some point FM just needs to make an assumption. So, I think this behavior is reasonable and not in need of a "fix." Maybe it would be nice if you could control the file format (which is always CGM), but otherwise it makes sense to me.
In short, if you must embed these hyperlink markers in the anchored frames, I think you'll need to do some programming to roundtrip XML. Even if you could get a PNG generated, you would lose the hyperlinks on the way back in. This begs the question... is it absolutely necessary to have these links? Is it because you need them in a PDF?

  • Saving business graphics into XL

    Hi,
Is there a possibility to save the Business graphics , images , Business Charts into an XL file from a WebDynPro ABAP Application?
    Thanks,
    Prasath N

    Hi Prasath,
as this class is totally independent from Web Dynpro it belongs to you where to use it in your application. Create an instance of this class, provide data and customizing and let the IGS render the chart. Finally you ask the instance for the image and e.g. save it.
A good starting point is the SAP Chart Designer that you can download from the SDN downloads page. As part of the package you will find documenation about the data XML. Create the customizing XML by interactively designing your chart and save the settings as XML.

  • Need help saving layer styles Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac (Mountain Lion)

I have been trying to learn Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended on a Macbook Pro (Mountain Lion). My Adobe software has been updated. I have been doing tutorials using a lot of layer styles. In one of these tutorials, it was suggested that if I would possibly want to use the style again that I should save it. At this point I had entered all my layer styles info and was still in the window with the list of layer styles on the left (bevel and emboss, drop shadow, etc., and the "New Style" button on the right. I clicked on the "New Style" button and when another window popped up asking me to name the style, I named it. When I looked at my styles in the styles panel, I saw the little button for the new style. I saved my graphic and closed it. Later I wanted to apply this style to text in another graphic. The style was used on text originally. When I clicked on it though the style didn't look the same. Upon investigation, a couple of setting under Bevel and Emboss had reverted to defaults. They were different numbers when I saved the style. I could go back in and change these two numbers and get the same results, but I don't understand why these numbers changed on their own -- why the style didn't completely "save." Is there something I have done wrong, or is this some kind of bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, both documents were at 72 resolution. This morning I tried to save yet another style (same resolution document). It worked when I used it the first time. Then I switched to the other style I had saved. That one took some of the bevel and emboss settings from this morning's style. The numbers which will not save are the angle and altitude under the shading section. Just now I made another document (text at 72 resolution) and both styles had changed these numbers to 120 and 30. Is this something I am doing wrong? I am trying to use text of a similar font and size. I updated my software last night in the hopes that that would help. This morning I reset preferences. Don't know what to do! Thanks for helping me!

  • Fonts in linked eps-graphics show INCORRECTLY in InDesign, but show CORRECTLY in Illustrator

    Hi,
I'm using Creative Suite CS4 on pc.
When I open an InDesign CS4 file, the fonts in the the linked .eps graphics, in this case numbers,
are shown as tall rectangles. If I open the source eps-graphic in Illustrator CS4,
all numbers are shown correctly. Resaving the eps-file and updating the link doesn't help, neither does
exporting to PDF. Fonts are still shown incorrectly in InDesign.
Both the InDesign-file and the eps-graphics were originally created with CS2.
Opening the InDesign-file in CS2 results in the fonts showing correctly.
Does anyone know what is causing this and how to solve the problem?
    Quite perplexed!

    Hi again,
Unfortunately, I am still stumped with this problem. I've taken a test document with 8 graphics and done the following:
    1. saved all .EPS graphics to .AI > relinked in ID to .AI
    2. used distiller with PDF/X1-a > relinked in ID to PDF
    3. used distiller with PDF/X1-b > relinked in ID to PDF
    4. used distiller with PDF/X3 > relinked in ID to PDF
    5. saved .EPS graphics to .AI > resaved .AI to PDF/X-4 in Illustrator > relinked in ID to PDF
Results in all cases were "consistent" i.e. identical:
6 out of the 8 graphics were resized AND repositioned in ID!!
WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? Any more ideas, anyone?

  • Using Intel graphics in Windows on Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 ?

I own a Macbook Pro Retina 15" Late 2013 with Nvidia GT750M graphics.
On Windows, the power consumption and heat production is noticeable higher than on OSX.
People said this is due the Nvidia GT750M being constantly used, because there is officially no way to switch to the more power saving Intel Graphics on Windows.
I have found a extremely tricky way to switch the graphics, but unfortunately I have no idea how I do this:

Does someone know a easier way to do it or can explain it step-by-step ?
I'd appreciate this very much if I could have a longer battery life on Windows

    Hi cdwyer,
In your second example's block diagram, you need to have the save button terminal and the associated case structure within your main loop, otherwise the button/case structure is only read/executed the one time.
An additional tip: When saving "computer graphics", like LabVIEW panels or diagrams, it's nearly always better to save them using the PNG format. PNG format is both compressed (small file sizes) and yet also "lossless compression" (no image degradation) - also it's usually preferable to use true colour (24 bit colour depth).
JPEG file type is a "lossy" type of compression that is designed for photographics - it will cause blurring and colour distortions when used with computer graphics.
    Mark.
P.S. Worth a few star ratings?

  • I cannot save the graphical settings permanantly

In one of the  DP planning book, I cannot see the graphical view beyond year2009.
When he changes the maximum date to 2010  and apply those settings it shows view
till 2010. But these changes in the settings doesn't get saved permanantly. When he goes
to tabular form and again on graphics the saved settings go away.
    Is it related to authorization?
Is it that I am not authorized to change the settings.
    Need your suggestion on this

    Hi,
It looks like you have authorisation issue only.
I tried your scenario by saving my graphical settings and then
tried opening again, the earlier saved setting was
    restored.
Check & maintain the related authorisation object whether exists
for your user id and then retry the same

  • Save an Illustrator graphic for MS-Word

    Hello,
I have saved a graphic in illustrator in different ways, but can't get something razor-sharp in MS-Word.
Doe someone know a sure technique - that will produce a graphic in MS-Word that prints as sharp as in Illustrator?
    Many thanks
    Guy

Doe someone know a sure technique....
There is no "sure technique" for this. It's not a matter of technique; it's a matter of technical differences between the capabilities of the programs. So the success of having Word (and most all "office" or "works" programs like it) accurately replicate the vector paths you create in Illustrator (and most all programs like it) is highly dependent upon the nature of the specific paths you are creating. That's why:
You can try your luck by exporting your Illustrator-created artwork in Enhanced MetaFile (EMF) format and import that into Word, but don't expect perfectly accurate results in the translation.
The default "lowest common denominator" conventional-wisdom approach to the problem is to resort to exporting your Illustrator-created artwork in a raster format. PNG is the primarily suggested raster format for that.

  • Grainy text when saved for web

Why do graphics with text and/or images in Fireworks CS5 become more grainy or blury when saved/exported for web use?  Compared to results in Photoshop, text, image and graphic rendering when saved for web in Fireworks is lower quality or poor (grainy and blurry).  Why?! Should I not use Fireworks and only use Photoshop CS5?  Isn't Fireworks designed for creating web graphics?  If so, what am I missing?  Any help would be appreciated.
    Brian

Yeah, I'd encourage you to use whatever works for your situation.
I should have asked you to include a screenshot of your original for comparison. I do see obvious JPEG artifacting around the letters as well as the images; this graphic has a lot of flat color, which would prompt me to try saving it as a GIF or PNG-8 (or even a PNG) instead of a JPEG.
The cover images do look quite blurry, but I suspect they must look blurry in your original as well. Incidentally, if you saved these graphics as symbols, you could resize them multiple times in your layout without losing any quality—kind of like Smart Objects in Photoshop. (I'm assuming they might have been larger initially?) Also, you could check your Preferences to see what Interpolation method is being used when resizing. This could impact the appearance of the cover images, if they are being resized.
Text rendering is tricky at small sizes. Making a seemingly minor adjustment to the pixel size can have an impact on how the text is rendered at this small of a size, depending on the font. As far as anti-aliasing goes, System Anti-Alias can be a good choice, sometimes; you might also explore the Custom Anti-Alias option. You might also have smoother results if you create the layout at twice the size (or more) initially—a display font will look better when rendered with more pixels—and then output it at half size.
An interesting thing about Photoshop: If you zoom in to the highest setting, you can use the arrow keys to create subtle adjustments to the text rendering, depending on what kind of aliasing you've applied.

  • Graphic graining after converting to pdf from Powerpoint 2007

I have a user, using Windows XP, Office 2007, Acrobat 8.1 Standard & Distiller 8. When she is in Powerpoint working on a slide her graphic looks fine. Once she hits Acrobat on her toolbar, then Create a PDF, it converts over to a pdf and her graphic looks grainy. Like some of the color is gone-not completely filled in like it was before in the lettering. Can someone please help with this, I've been researching for a while now and can't find a solution.

Sorry, all out of ideas. She may just have to live with it. The only think I can think of is a compatibility between the resolutions selected in the WORD doc and the storage to PDF. Generally PDFs do not change the resolution of a graphic unless you ask for the compression (that is part of the graphics management in the settings file with Std have a lot of compression). It may be that properly adjusting the resolution of the graphic in the PPT doc would change the issue. A lot of folks have a habit of just copying a graphic into PPT without changing the resolution to an appropriate dpi. You might try saving any graphics to a different format and insert in PPT again. Also, be aware that OFFICE 2007 does some conversions to imported images that may also be an issue (at least with DOCX and related files, not the DOC versions). I am not sure that might be an affect. You might going to a PPT 2003 compatible format and try the graphics again - I have gotten some differences (I have no clue why).
The only other thing that you might do would be to post the copies somewhere, both of a sample PPT or PPTX and a sample PDF. You may have to post a new topic since this one is so far back in the queue. I was just drifting back over old posts and noted your item. Bill
