Re-set submit button values

I have a jsp with a form containing two submit buttons. The form action is to re-call the current jsp for some variable checks. Here is the problem:
the first thing the jsp page does is check a variable...if the variable is NOT set, it redirects to a different jsp (without showing the buttons or anything from the original jsp) which works...if the variable IS set, should just display this page (buttons and all). The problem is, when this happens, both button values are not null...which makes it impossible to redirect depending on which button the user then chooses...as both values are already set.
Man, I hope someone can make sense out of that :)
thanks for your time,
Jesse

i want to ask a couple of things that are not specified:
i) How can a button have a value???
ii) If you have 2 buttons in 1 form then one of the two is to submit the form. What does the other one do?
iii) I think the way you check it is wrong.
Store a variable. If the variable is not set (null) do as it works, redirect. If the value is set with the value of 1 redirect him to one page, if with the value of 2 to another. The buttons store 1 or 2 to the variable? I hope i understood what you want to do. Waiting for an answer if it worked!

  • Setting a buttons .value property(the text displayed on the button)

    I need a button's display to change based on a condition. I have this javascript code in my page html header:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function test()
    document.getElementById("CREATE").value="COPY";
    </script>
    In my page html body attribute I call it:
    onload="test()";
    Why doesn't this work in APEX? It works just fine when I opened notepad and created a quick html page.
    Since my button(named CREATE) is a region button(and tied to auto dml process item) does it not have an object id like the ones you can create in the items section? IE: If I create a button called P1_MYBUTTON then the javascript works since P1_MYBUTTON is the id. I thought since the region button is called CREATE that it was some anomoly on the part of oracle design of apex not to have it's name be P1_CREATE.
    Are we not allowed to access buttons that are region buttons?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Gib

    by the way, put this into notepad, save it as test.html and run it then click the button on the page. This is what I am trying to do in APEX:
    <html>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function replaceButtonText(buttonId, text)
    if (document.getElementById)
    var button=document.getElementById(buttonId);
    if (button)
    if (button.childNodes[0])
    button.childNodes[0].nodeValue=text;
    else if (button.value)
    button.value=text;
    else //if (button.innerHTML)
    button.innerHTML=text;
    </SCRIPT>
    <body>
    The content of the body element is displayed in your browser.<br><br>
    <input type="button" value="Button Text" id="myButton1" onClick="replaceButtonText('myButton1', 'Works!');">
    </body>
    </html>

  • Using submit button in jsp to set a boolean value

    Hello,
    any help would be much appreciated.
    I have put the following submit button in jsp:
    <TR>
    <TD ALIGN=CENTER><INPUT TYPE="SUBMIT" NAME="next" VALUE="Next"></TD>
    </TR>
    I have then put the following java code in:
    <%
    boolean next = (request.getParameter("next") != null);
    session.setAttribute("next", next);
    boolean previous = (request.getParameter("previous") != null);
    session.setAttribute("previous", previous);
    int row = 1;
    session.setAttribute("row", row);
    %>
    now I expected when user hit next button and jsp was forwarded to another jsp that when I did the following:
    //get session attributes for next/previous action from previous jsp
    boolean next = (Boolean) session.getAttribute("next");
    boolean previous = (Boolean) session.getAttribute("previous");
    int row = (Integer) session.getAttribute("row");
    that the boolean next would be set to true, but it is set to false and I do not understand why?
    Can somebody help please?
    Cheers Joe.

    One reason i see you are getting false is that the default value for a boolean type is false and your code doesn't set it to true . So whatever be the page Next or previous , It would be set to false.. Try doing something like
    boolean next=true;
    next=request.getParameter("next");
    if(next.equals(""))
    // Your Business Logic goes here.
    Hope this helps.

  • Submit button in cftextarea value

    Hello~
    I have a cftextarea whose value is being populated from a database. The problem is, some of the values contain form code, including submit buttons. Most of the form displays correctly inside the richtext cftextarea, but the Submit button is always displayed outside of the text box, rather than as part of the textbox value. I have html set to yes, and I am using the richtext option. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Esacpabe the HTML with either htmlCodeFormat() or htmlEditFormat().  One ads a set of ,<pre></pre> tags, but I can never keep them straight without looking at the documentation.
    Otherwise the Browser is going to see the HTML tags and parse them in order they find them.  Browsers are not strict about tags being closed before other tags opening so you can't put unescaped tag code inside something like another <textarea></textarea> HTML tag block.

  • Setting/Clearing Dynamic Radio Button values

    Hi, i have the following Radio buttons defined within an iteration
    <c:forEach items="${searchresults}" var="post" varStatus="status">
         <tr class = "text_results">
              <c:url value="/searchposts.do" var="url">

                   <c:param name="postcode" value="${post.postId.postTitle.code}"/>
                   <c:param name="unitcode" value="${post.postId.units.unitCode}"/>
                   <c:param name="auth" value="${post.postId.auth}"/>
              </c:url>
              <td>
                   <a href='<c:out value = "${url}" />'>
                   <c:out value="${post.postId.postTitle.title}"></c:out></a>
              </td>
              <td><c:out value = "${post.mustering}"/></td>
              <td><c:out value = "${post.rank}"/></td>
              <td>
                   <html:radio property="incmbt"
                        value='${post.postId.postTitle.title}'>
                   </html:radio>
                   <a href = "javascript:unCheckRadio(document.searchForm.incmbt)">
                        clear
                   </a>
              </td>
         </tr>
    </c:forEach>  The property "incmbt" is declared as a form property (String incmbt) with its getters and setters ... i plan to set each radio button with a value from database within an object called post. The actual value to set for each radio is a post title ... I seem to be getting a NULL value when i try to get the value in action class (form.getIncmbt() yields null) ... Am i assigning the value correctly?
    Further, here's is how i clear the values which seems to work
    Javascript
    function unCheckRadio(btngrp) {
         for(var i=0; i < btngrp.length; i++)
              if( btngrp.checked == true ) {
                   btngrp[i].checked = false;
                   document.write("Selected Radio is :" + btngrp[i].value);
    But the "Selected Radio is :" displays "${post.postId.postTitle.title}", not the actual post title... ???

    I just thought about this quickly, i think its because an href link does not submit form values ... If so, how can i submit the value of a radio button through the <c:param/> tag or any other way after clicking the href link to submit the form?

  • Submit button not setting request in translated application

    I have an application (id 103) with a primary language of en-gb, and application language derived from browser. This works OK (validations, page branches, etc).
    I then created a language mapping to app id 103001 (fr), seeded the translatable text, exported the xliff file, translated some of the strings (using Transolution - http://transolution.python-hosting.com/), uploaded the xliff, applied it and published the application.
    With the browser language set to en-gb, the application still works. When running with the browser set to fr, the correct translations appear, but the submit button does not work - the page refreshes but the fields are not validated. Switching on debug shows the request as SUBMIT when running in english, but it has no value when running in french.
    Any ideas? Using HTML DB version 2.0.0.00.49 on 10g R2 on linux.

    James,
    Thanks for your patience.
    It's a software defect. I verified this in the Application Express code. It only affects the following combination:
    1) Running a translated application
    2) You have an item button on the page
    3) You specify the item button in the declarative When Button Pressed select list condition on the validation.
    The evaluation of the condition is not properly accounting for the translated IDs in use. There are a number of workarounds:
    1) Use a normal button and not an item button
    2) Use a different method to specify the condition, either one of the declarative conditions or a PL/SQL expression (e.g., :REQUEST = ...)
    I hope you don't mind, but I changed the condition for the validation in your application. I removed it from When Button Pressed and changed it to Request = Expression1. After republishing your application, it works fine now.
    Thanks again for your persistence and helpfulness on this issue. I will log this as a bug and we will get this resolved.
    Joel

    I am trying to set up my newly purchased Apple TV but when I enter my network password while setting up, I am not able to enter the Submit button, any idea how to hit the visible submit button that is visible on screen but not responding?

    You need to use the right arrow on the remote to go all the way to the right. The submit button will be highlighted and you can then press select on the remote to proceed.

  • SUBMIT button and VALUE clause

    I have a jsp screen like below.It shows in a tabular form all the employee data.
    EMPLOYEE DETAILS
    EmpId_______ProcessEmpSalary_____ProcessEmpLeave
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    7
    8
    NEXT______PREV____LAST____FIRST
    Under ProcessEmpSalary ,ProcessEmpLeave of each employee I have a submit button and clicking on it the particular employee id has to be processed (for salary or leave).Now I want the employee id to be passed when the submit button of that particular employee is pressed.
    So what I am doing is I put the emp id in the value clause and achieve my purpose.But this results in the display of the emp id over each submit button.It looks ugly and so
    I dont want to use the VALUE clause of the SUBMIT button.........
    So friends please tell me how to achieve it.Someone suggested me to use IMAGE but it doesn't work.Some suggested I use hidden varaible ,but I just don;t understand how is that possible.Some suggested me use javascript to pass the value and throw the form...this make sense but problem is I don't have time to learn javascript now.So please help with some code example how to achieve this result.

    Here is my jsp as it is .Employee id was used for example.In my application it is Submission_Id
    which is used as the key.

  • Set a default value for a radio button populated with a List of value

    Hi,
    I am using jdeveloper 11.1.1.3.0. I need to set a default value for a radio button populated with a List of value(Yes/No). Here's the selectonechoice code.
    <af:selectOneRadio value="#{bindings.Code.inputValue}"
    label="#{bindings.Code.label}"
    required="#{bindings.Code.hints.mandatory}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.Code.hints.tooltip}"
    id="sor1" autoSubmit="true"
    valuePassThru="true" layout="horizontal">
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.Code.items}" id="si1"/>
    </af:selectOneRadio>
    I want to have the selectonechoice set to No by default. In the previous versions, I set the default value in the base attribute VO. But it is not working in the new version.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    this should work in JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 the same as in 11.1.1.2. If it doesn't then it is better to file a bug than to work around it

  • Submit Button never gets a Value in ReviewAbsenceCO

    Dear Experts,
    I have a requirement and have to extend ReviewAbsenceCO, my validation should only be fired when user clicks "Submit" button
    To achieve this task I am using the following code in my class , but the Submit button never gets a value it is always null..
    CODE
    (pageContext.getParameter("HrSubmit")!= null)
    I have substituted HrSumit with a few more options like "Submit","submit" and so on, but no effect.
    Please tell me how to get the name of the clicked button.

    Hi ,
    Please make sure that you 're passing the right ID ( HrSubmit ) ??
    to find the button ID , right click on OAF page - > view source - > search by prompt name , you will
    get the id associated to bean , copy it and replace it in the above line you 've mentioned .
    Note : Please make sure that its an submit button , for regular button normally Fire action will be attached , and approach for
    handling regular button would be different .

  • Add advanced action to submit button and setting different objectives score for the same course

    Hi, i would like to increase a counter in a quiz slide when the user press the submit button, using advanced actions.
    It's like if the submit button is somehow inhibited from certain options, and i cannot find how to add an advanced action to it.
    what i need, is to allow unlimited attempt until the user selects the right answer. each time the user click on submit, a counter increases by one. When user finally select the right answer, we read the counter value and assign a different score, depending on the attempt (for example: 1st attempt=20 points, 2nd attempt=10 points, 3rd attempt=0 points)
    After that, i need to save all score obtained for a certain group of quiz slide separately from the "main score" (i think the main score is stored in cmi.objectives.0.score)  to have partials scores for a course. I examined the "advanced interactions" panel and i noticed that for each quiz slide there is a specific interaction ID and each quiz slide is associated typically to the same Objective ID. What i need is to associate different groups of slides to different Objective ID's.
    In Storyline i was able to do this by passing to the lms a cmi.objectives.n.score (where "n" is the place in the objectives array) and i did it by executing a javascript on success for each question slide. (each javascript added the score of previous slides in the same group to obtain the total score of the group to be passed to lms with a specific function).
    examining captivate scorm functions in the published scormdriver.js i found the following function
    function SCORM_SetObjectiveScore(strObjectiveID,intScore,intMaxScore,intMinScore)
    so i think it can be done the same way in captivate executing javascript in the right way.
    Is there also an easier solution to write different scores to different obectives in the same course?
    many thanks for any help!

    Indeed, Submit button is part of the Question slide, not a normal button. You can add a custom shape button, but it will never replace what happens when the Submit button is clicked: validation of the answer, showing captions, adding to score etc. Making the score depending on the attempt is not possible with default functionality, it is possible with custom question slides, but then the reporting to LMS is another issue. You should try to do it by JS, or if you only need SWF-output you could use the Master widget by InfoSemantics.
