Re Spam on ePrint server

Hi,
It seems like this issue is really a bit too much for some.
I'm having the same problem here. Even though the email I'm sending the message to my eprint mail, is on the whitelist of emails I've created.
I find it quite useless if even I can't decide from where I can get my own emails being sent. What work around is there? When will this issue be solved and how??
I don't see the use of ePrint if I have no control at all over what will come to me and what will not. I can't give this adress to anyone because if I can't print it out, what is the point in having the service active???
Greetings
Michael

Hello Michael, im sorry to hear that you are having this issue with eprint, but there are some things that can be done, and reasons why it is set up this way. The main reason for messages being marked as spam has to do with the quality of the photo being sent, or a small photo in the message such as a digital signature.
The default settings for printing out a photo from a pc is around 200-300dpi, which gives good results for printing, and can even be raised higher if needed. If eprint sees a photo sent that is below 100dpi, it will mark it as spam due to the quality of the image. If you print a photo off at that dpi the quality will not be satisfactory for almost any user, and at that point you have used quite a bit of ink on a photo that you do not want due to the quality.
If you are sending a photo from a cellphone or a smartphone, this is where the issue lies in most cases. On an iphone if you send a photo and you choose the small option instead of medium or large, it actually gets sent at 96 dpi, which is below the above threshold. If you have an older phone the cameras on them are generally fairly low quality and will save photos at a low resolution, and the dpi is once again below 100.
One thing you can do if you havent yet is actually set your account to allowed senders only, make sure the email you are sending from is on there, and send one of those photos again. You should get some more detailed information on why the job did not print this way, and if it is infact the DPI the email response will tell you this.

  • HP 8500 Printer and Connection to eprint server

Refurbished Printer: HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premium A910 n (Changes status from new to refurbished 02-17-2011)
    ISP: ATT DSL
Modem/Router: 2wire new from Best Buy. It is white with ATT logo on it. Is using latest firmware.
    Network: ethernet
The printer downloaded and installed a firmware update after initialization. So it is connected to the internet.
It then tried to register to the eprint server and said it cannot connect to eprint server.
The printer functions normally in every way except it will not register to eprint server.
Numerous calls and hours with HP Support rebooting, resetting and everything else under the sun have done nothing.
I tried setting IP and DSN addresses per all the suggestions in these forums and nothing works.
Could there be an issue with the HP Sever? Does it really exist? Are there compatibility issues with 2wire router.
ATT did remote session on my computer and could find nothing they could do. They were able to plot a test page remotely.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    NEW INFORMATION (02-11-2011):
I noticed today while looking at the EWS that the printer SSID is not the same as the router, but it was grayed out. Does this matter for ethernet? If so how do I change it? I do not think this matters for ethernet.
    NEW INFORMATION (02-12-2011):
The support team at 2wire have given me procedure to completely open all in and out traffice to the printer. They said if this does not work then the problem is with the eprint server. I will try this on Monday, but I expect there is a communication problem between the printer and the eprint server that has nothing to with anything at my location or my ISP. Is there any way to check the server this printer is trying to connect to? Where is it? Is it operational? If not, is it rerouting properly to an operational server? The printer must be trying to access a particlar IP address or DNS to establish communication.
    NEW INFORMATION (02-14-2011):
Per the instructions from 2wire support team I opened all ports and allowed all services then turned the printer off and on. It did not work. The printer will not connect to the HP eprint server. So the problem is with the HP eprint server. This printer is programmed to look somewhere for a server to connect to. Where is it? Is it operational? Why will not allow a connection? HP the ball is in your court. What can we do?
I have ATT DSL at work and Charter Cable service at home. The problem is the same for both locations and ISP's. Is there anyone out there has connected that has ATT DSL or Charter Cable? If so what are your settings?
    NEW COMMENT (02-15-2011)
Can anyone at HP tell me why the printer will connect to the HP Server and download the firmware update, but will not connect to the HP Server to register to eprint? It all seems to be on HP's side. When will we get a fix?
    NEW COMMENT (02-16-2011)
The model number is blank in the engineering menu and the printer diagnositc page. If this is an issue can it be added with a firmware update? Do I need to get money back for this one and buy a fully configure one in a local store? Maybe the blank model number is throwing all the other information out of place that is being sent to the server. Can the server be updated to accept blank model numbers?
POSSIBLE SOURCE OF PROBLEM - SOLUTION PENDING (02-16-2011)
I JUST LOOKED ON THE BACK OF MY PRINTER. IT HAS A REMANUFACTURED STICKER ON IT.
It appears that the missing model number on the remanufacturered units is the reason why it will not connect to the eprint server. Print out the printer diagnostic page and see if the model number is blank.
HP is working on a fix.
    SOLUTION- (02-22-2011)
I UPGRADED MY ORDER FROM REFURBISHED TO NEW REPLACEMENT. THE NEW REPLACEMENT CONNECTED THE FIRST TIME TO EMPRINT SERVER - NO PROBLEMS. I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW ONE AND THEY WILL CREDIT MY CARD WHEN THEY GET THE REFURBISHED ONE BACK.
LESSON LEARNED - IF YOU HAVE PRINTER WITH BLANK MODEL NUMBER YOU WILL NOT ABLE TO CONNECT TO EPRINT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!
    Thanks if anyone can help.

Try setting a fixed IP/DNS…hopefully you haven’t tried that yet.  (The problem is most likely w/how therouter and the printer are communicating…setting the fixed IP/Manua DNS should fix it. )          If previous steps didn’t help, you may need to set a fixed IP address/DNS Server on your printer.
Setting a fixed IP address/DNS Server for your printer may resolve web services connectivity issues that can occur on some networks with some routers.  Note:  This may be particularly helpful with networks using DSL/VIOS routers.
Please read the entire set of instructions through completely before trying them.  You should not attempt these on your own if you don't understand networking basics.  Most of us have a "techie" buddy/friend/family member...if you're not comfortable this might be a good time to call him/her, or contact HP support.
Before you begin, we recommend you first remove Web Services from your printer.  (See the previous section for where to find this on your printer.)   Removing web services will remove your printer from your HPePrintCenter.com account (if you have previously set up an account and added it).  When you re-enable web services after completing these steps you will have a new ePrint email address and need to add your printer to your ePC account again.
Setting a manual IP address/DNS Server on your web-connected printer:
Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer front panel.  On some printers this will be under Wireless>Wireless Settings, and on other models use the “Print Report” option from the Wireless status screen accessed from the wireless icon on the printer home screen.   Note the printer's IP address that is listed in the IPv4 section of the report.  On most printers you can also see the printer’s IP address from the Wireless menu, or on the Wireless status screen.
Type that IP address into your browser address bar (where you would normally type a web page URL) and hit enter - this will load the printer's internal settings page (also known as an Embedded Web Server, or EWS)
Select the “Network” or “Networking” tab (the label varies depending on printer model) from the tabs along the top of the screen in the EWS
Depending on your printer model, the next step(s) will vary:
Select the “IPv4” option from along the left side of the Networking screen
    or
Select the “Networking” option from the left side of the screen
Then select the “Network Address (IP)” option from the left side of the screen
The screen you end up on should be the “IP Address Configuration” screen.  That screen allows you to choose an Automatic or Manual (i.e., fixed) IP address for your printer, as well as Subnet Mask and Default Gateway values.   You will use this screen to set a Manual IP address for your printer.
    To continue:
Select the radio button next to “Manual IP”
Select the “Suggest a Manual IP Address” option below the IP address fields.  The Manual IP address fields will automatically populate with suggested values.
Select the “Manual DNS Server” radio button in the DNS Address Configuration section
Enter the address just entered in the “Manual Default Gateway” into the “Manual Preferred DNS Server” field.  Leave the “Manual Alternate DNS Server” entry blank.
Carefully double-check the values you entered to make sure they are all correct.
    Click 'Apply'
Save any open documents and close any web browsers on any computers
Turn off the printer and unplug the router.
Plug in the router, wait for it to start up and for status lights to settle down (approximately a minute at least), then turn on the printer.
If you removed web services from your printer before starting this process, after the printer has connected to your network, re-enable web services on your device and add your printer to your account on HPePrintCenter.
If you did not remove web services before setting a manual IP address and are still having connection issues, remove and re-add web services.
In some cases you might need to add the printer to your computer’s Printer/My Printers folder again, after you set the new fixed IP address.   If you have problems printing to your printer, simply use the option to add a printer, select the Networked printer type, and complete the add printer wizard.  You will not need to reinstall any printer software on your computer.

  • Are there any shortcuts to connecting the printer with web services and/or the eprint server?

(HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, IE, Windows 7)
As I am unable to execute the instructions given by
by Ryamond 1411, I'm looking for  other avenues to connect my printer to web services and/or
the eprint server so I can release 4 emails for printout now stuck in que.

    Hello MurrayJ,
The first thing I would do is follow step six in this document to set a static IP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02817031&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4023246&tmp...
When it askes for DNS information, enter in Google's DNS. Preferred DNS = 8.8.8.8 Alt DNS = 8.8.4.4
If that does not help, if you could provide me with the following information it would help me out. First, who is your ISP( Internet Service Provider, i.e. Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, ect.)? Second, who is the maker of your router? Lastly, what is the model number and firmware version of your router?

  • Officejet 6100 (H611a) eprinter won't re-connect to eprint server

My HP Officejet 6100 (H611a) eprinter has been connected to the eprint server for over a year.  A few days ago when I tried to print from my tablet, it told me that I was no longer connected to the server.
When I went to the embedded web server page it showed that I had lost the connection and their was an icon that said "fix it".  I tried reconnecting to the server by cliking on this icon for several days with no success.  It would say "cannot connect to server".
I finally tried unregistering the printer and tried starting over.  Now each time I try to register the printer it says "cannot connect to server".
I have been trying this for about two weeks with no success.  Any help would be greatly appricated.

    Hi scthom,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are getting a connection error message when trying to connect to HP’s web services to use ePrint.
My gut feeling is that there was a firmware update pushed out to your router and/or modem and that update is what is preventing the printer from communicating with HP.  Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer.  I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, of how to do this.  Don’t worry that the screen shots are for an Officejet 8600 the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

  • Phototsmart 5510 ePrint server connection error

    Hi,
I have a Photosmart 5510 with Windows 7.  I am trying to turn on the ePrint service, but it has to run an update before it will enable.  However, every time I try to enable it it gives me a "Server Connection Error" after trying to connect to the server for a minute or two.  The printer is connected to a network with internet and I have no problems accessing every other feature.  I have also tried to download the firmware update from the HP support but when I run it I am told there are no supported devices connected to the computer, regardless of usb or wireless connection to the printer and full drivers being installed.  Is there a way I can do a factory reset on the printer or manually install firmware?
    UPDATE:
I followed instructions to set Static IP and DNS addresses and the printer connected to the server.
    Issue resolved

    Hi @iliaunt,

  • Not downloading spam from the server

    Hi all,
Recently, we have been inundated with spam. I called my IP, and they told me they can mark each smap message with **(subject)**, so that I can make one simple rule telling Mail what to do with these messages.
They said that there should be a rule that tells Mail to not even download these messages from the server... which would be great because then we don't have to create rules on each separate machine on the network.
However, I can find no such option under rules. Am I overlooking something?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Arodbrod,
I'm sorry to hear you are having an issue getting your picture to print via ePrint.
I have included a link to the help screen for the ePrintCenter as well as a screen shot of the information. It details the file types that are supported and any size limitations.  I have also included a document that reviews the print history in HP Connected.  If a picture doesn't meet the minimum requirements it is flagged as spam.

  • Eprint server refuses email

While I can print from my gmail account, any attempt of printing from my employer's exchange server account is refused by the server at hpeprint.com:
Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:
    [email protected]
Your message wasn't delivered because of security policies. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.
The following organization rejected your message: hpeprint.com.
    Reporting-MTA: dns; gsb.columbia.edu
    Final-recipient: RFC822; [email protected]
    Action: failed
    Status: 5.7.1
    Remote-MTA: dns; hpeprint.com
    X-Supplementary-Info: <hpeprint.com #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Command rejected>
I use a whitelist, but the account is on the whitelist.   Any suggestions?
Have also tried with out the whitelist feature enabled, no joy.

    say_anything,
Hmm... it appears some security processing at HP ePrint is rejecting the messages sent from your employer's exchange account.
I see the "reporting MTA" (Mail Transfer Agent) in the error message was gsb.columbia.edu....   Does your "from" email address correspond to this same domain?  Ex. Does your email have the form [email protected]
I am able to successfully send emails directly from my corporate exchange server to my HP ePrint pinter... but have seen smtp 550 5.7.1 rejection codes in other cases when sending email indirectly via another service (where the to/from/etc. fields of the email header show domain miss-matches of some form...).
One example: Sending email from my Blackberry through Blackberry BIS service connected to a Comcast POP3 email account generate this 550 5.7.1 failure code, while using my Blackberry w/ Yahoo, Gmail, or my corporate Exchange SMTP accounts worked fine.   Do you know if you are using a POP3 or an SMTP connection to your Exchange account?   Speculation:  Its possible you would have more success with SMTP than POP3?
Speaking for myself, not my employer Hewlett Packard

  • HP8600 is not connecting to eprint server

    Hi,
    I have an HP8600 with E-print.
The printer is connected wireless and is working fine on the local network. But it is not connecting tot the e-print server.
I think the problem is the D-link router Dir 855. I do not know what to change on the router to get it working.
Thers is no clear error message. Just on the e-print webpage the message is "not connected" on the printer webpage there is a red cross in the picture displaying the eprint status.
    Bertjan

There is another option available of putting in a custom DNS server. The EWS for this model might differ slightly, but the same general steps apply for all HP printers.
What you want to do is gather the IP address off of the printer, you can do this by pushing the wireless icon on the display and you may have to go to view settings after. Take this ip and put it in the address bar of your web browser as if it were a webpage. From there go to the network tab along the top of that page, then you should have an ipv4 option along the left under wireless (or wired if you are using ethernet). In here you can set a manual IP, and a manual DNS server. Set the DNS server to manual, and put 8.8.8.8 as the primary, and 8.8.4.4 as the secondary.
These steps will have the printer go through googles DNS servers, which does seem to resolve this issue most of the time. The main cause is your ISPs DNS servers may not have the web services servers in their system, so when it goes to connect it times out, and gives you the proxy message.

  • EPrint Server Connection fix

For all those who are having issues getting ePrint to work try these two things.  Obviously, your issue is getting the "Printer Code".
First, the easy step is try to press "ePrint" and choose to "show email address".  The first part of the email before "@hpeprint.com" is the code you need to enter on the HP ePrint website to "add printer."  If you can see the Printer's email address, you already have the code.
However, if you cannot see the email address, then my best guess is that the issue is your router blocking traffic.  To fix this, then you need to go into your router's settings using it's IP address, then go into the Firewall settings and choose to open 4-new TCP Ports that are 80, 443, 5222, and 5223 for the Printer's IP.  Just open them for the Printer's IP only.
The steps above worked for me; GOOD LUCK.

    Hi @16-47,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I see that you are getting a connection error message when trying to access one of the apps found on the front panel of your Photosmart 5524 printer.
Please start by doing a printer reset.  The steps can be found in the 'Reset Power' Message Displays on the All-in-One document.  Please follow the instructions for Step One in the section titled “Solution two: Reset the product”.
If you are still getting the connection error message after resetting the printer, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS server for the printer.  I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, on how to do this.  Please only follow steps 1 – 6.  Also, don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
Please let me know the outcome.

  • Keep losing connection to ePrint Server

I have a Photosmart C410a printer which is connected via ethernet (wired) to my router.
I check the ePrintcenter site now and then and over the past few days, I've frequently found that the printer is listed as "Not Connected" even though my router shows that the printer has an outbound connection.  I have to turn the printer off and on to get ePrintcenter to show everything as green.
The latest time I had even powered off my printer and turned it on only a few hours earlier so I would have assumed it would be connected, but it wasn't.  I had to power it off again and turn it back on.
I don't know why it's doing this.  Any ideas?

i have the same problem - when someone else remote-prints on the network, my Mac loses connection. How do I get it back?
