Re: Variant tables usuage for variant configuration.

Dear All.
I have variant configuration and I need variant tables for the dependencies. Can any body guide me how to use the variant tables.

Hi.
I have used them mostly as a repository of technical data unknown to sales department (guys who create and configure sales order).
In a Packaging Industry they used variants for folding cartons and all technical data was maintained by a Techical Area in variant tables. Data was retrieved from configuration using procedures.
Variant table data is maintained in transaction CU60. This is not a very friendly interface and can't deal with multi-user updation. This is why one year after go-live this company started to use a Z-tables and LINKED them to variant tables (CU62). Using this  you can work with same procedures but with much more easier data maintenance. I recommend to take this in account.

  • Changing Table maintenance settings for CIN configuration

    Hi,
The delivery and Maintenance of certain tables required for CIN configuration are set as - Display/Maintenace allowed with restrictions.  Hence these tables could not be maintained using SM30 / SE54.
When checked in the SDN forums, certain people have asked to use &SAP_EDIT in SE16N, but it is not a right approach to do, as it is not accepted during audit.  As again, writing a small ABAP program is not acceptable.
Please let me know, is there any other way to change the maintenance setting for the tables - E.g. J_1IEWTECESS.
This is an urgent issue, as the deliverable is pending because of this and points are assured.

  • BAPI for creating variant table

    Hi,
Cu61 and Cu60 are two transactions in SAP (comes under Variant Configuration) to create a variant table and fill its contents respectively.
Now, I am trying to create a transaction in SAP such that on the screen it takes the name of the variant table to be created and an excel file as input from the user and thus create a variant table and fill its contents in the background. Now, ofcourse I have to do this through ABAP coding. I know how to upload the excel file into the internal table but I am not able to figure out that how should i create the variant table and transfer the contents of that internal table to the variant table? That is, how should i transfer the contents to the variant table?
I have been able to find out the tables involved in the process viz, CUVTAB, CUVTAB_FLD, CUVTAB_VALC.
Does there exist any BAPI for doing the same?
    Please Help.

    Hi Reema,
Thanks for replying but this is not what I am looking for. I do not want to create a cluster table rather I want to create a variant table (it is a table used in variant configuration to store the combinations of a material whose characteristics can take varying values at the time of configuration). A table that we create through the transaction Cu61 and populate its contents through the transaction Cu60.
However, I still tried your suggestion but it did not result in what I want.
    My problem still exists.

  • Steps for Variant Configuration

    Hi Gurus,
Can any body tell me step by step procedure for variant configuration.
    My e-mail id. <REMOVED>
    Regds.......
    Sumit

    Hi Sumit,
Variant configuration is for manufacturing complex products. The manufacturer always has to offer new variants of its products. Often, new variants are created by modifying existing product designs as you process the order. The important thing is to react quickly to customers' requirements.
The customer determines the features of the product. A customer buying a car, for example, can choose the features of the car and combine these features as required.
The product configurator improves information exchange between sales, engineering, and production. Variant configuration helps the customer or salesperson to put together specifications for the product and ensure that the product can be produced from these specifications. It also ensures that production costs do not overstep the mark.
    Procedure -
Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
Create Characteristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)
Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass (Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment i.e. assign Zbikclass.
Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition) (For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.

    Integration
Variant configuration is integrated in the following applications:
    a.. CA Classification
    b.. LO Material Master
    c.. PP Bill of Material
    d.. PP Routings
    e.. PP-PI Master Recipes
    f.. SD Sales
    g.. SD Conditions
    h.. MM Purchasing
    i.. CO Costing
j.. PP Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
    k.. PP Production Orders
You can configure the following objects:
    a.. Materials
b.. Standard networks in the Project System.
c.. PM General maintenance task lists
    d.. Model service specifications
    Features
You do not need to create a separate material for each variant of a product in your
company. You can use one configurable material to cover all variants. You create a
super BOM and a super routing for this material, containing all the components and
operations for producing all variants of the product.
To define the features of a configurable material, you use characteristics. To
enable you to use characteristics to configure a material, you assign the material
to a class of class type 300. Possible characteristics of a car, for example, are
model, country, color, and engine. The customer can choose from among different
    options for each characteristic (values).
The only limitations are combinations of features that are not possible for either
technical or marketing reasons. You cannot combine all types of car engine with all
types of transmission, for example, or certain types of upholstery are only
available for more expensive models. In Variant Configuration, you use dependencies
to control this. This prevents combinations of options that are not allowed.
Dependencies also select exactly the right BOM components and operations to produce
    a variant.
Each configurable object must have a configuration profile. The configuration
profile for a material controls the configuration process in the sales order.
You can make the price of a variant dependent on the characteristic values assigned
(Pricing). You can use variant conditions to define surcharges and discounts for a
    variant.
For variants that are required frequently, you can create material variants, which
can be produced without a sales order and kept in stock. When you receive a sales
order, you can check whether the variant required is in stock, so that you can
    deliver immediately.

  • Stock Report for Variant configuration

    Hi Experts,
Request your help to get the following information.
We have a material which are packed in to multiple packing modes. Inorder to ease the selection of packing mode in sales order, we are thinking of introducing variant configuration. I.e all the packed materials will be created as variants in SAP and the sales order will be created for the configurable material. When the proper characteristic is selected the material will be automatically replaced by the variant.
But the requirement is to see the stocks of all the varaints along with the configurable materials as the header. For eg. Material A is having variants A1, A2 & A3. The sales quantites are 25, 30 and 35 respectively.
In any of the standard report, can I see the sales of these along with the total sales of config mtl A as 90
    Please guide.
    Thanks & Regards
    Prathib

    Hi Prathib,
On my last project, we define material code with the same code at the beginning like you do A1 A2 A3 (for variants) and AC for example for configurable material. Then for stock report you can use MB52, in material field just write A* it will show you stock from material start with code A. But make sure you define material type and material group for selection wisely. It works for me. Now depends on how well you define your structure.

Well, we're using the BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2) which creates the sales order successfully but without the characteristic values in line items.
We're passing data to the following parameters - ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_VALUE to create the variant config but not able to see it getting created.
Pls find attached BAPI coding document for your reference.
If you could throw any light on this issue will be of great help for us.
    Thank You in Advance!!!
    Reg,
    Jagan-SD.

    Jagan nath
    Try below.
you would need miimum of 3 segments to pass variant config data using this bapi
    ORDER_CFGS_REF for each configurable item
    POSEX = ITEM #
CONFIG_id , root_id - Start with 1 and increment it for each configurable line item
    ORDER_CFGS_INST
    CONFIG_ID - from above
INST_ID - Start with 1 and increment it for each configurable line item
    OBJ_TYPE = "MARA'
    CLASS_TYPE = '300'
    OBJ_KEY = material #
    ORDER_CFGS_VALUE
CONFIG_ID for the item, INST_ID for the item
    charc for characteristic value
    VALUE for characteristic value

  • For Variant BOM & Variant configuration

    Dear All,
Is there any tool to upload Variant BOM & Routing in standard SAP. Is it complete manual ?
    Regards
    Aniruddha

    1. Since youare using class item you will hvae one more characteristics called Plastic type in the Class
    2. You can maintian one variant table, in which you can maintain Plastic Type and specific Gravity
    3. Now using this you can try to infer the value and using a procedure you should be able to calculate the weight for the BOM item.
Kindly let me know for feedback

  • Tables, function modules for variant config data

    Hi all,
I need to extract characteristics and values for variant material from sales order and production orders. Could you please tell me the relevant tables and function modules?
    Regards,
    Sachin M

    Hi
    Try the following;
Function module to find values of characteristics - CLAF_CLASSIFICATION_OF_OBJECTS .
Table # AUSP also holds values of characteristics, you can link to it via table INOB,which should also linked to table KONDH if you are using the same.

  • How Forecast Release and Consumption for Variant Configuration

    Hi experts,
we are planning in our project how to Forecast Release and Consumption for Variant Configuration
    can you explain me
    Regards,
    babu

    Hi Sivaramakrishna,
We tried the same but what is complicating is having "market" attribute of customer in R/3 and planning forecast in DP at the "market" level. There is no customer as such in DP. THere is only market. We could release forecast at market leve using "consumption group". But I am trying to figure out how to have the sales orders consume forecast at the location, product and market level in SNP.
Today we have our sales orders to consume forecast in SNP at location-product level. we are trying to take this to "location-product-market" level in SNP.
I think we need to use some settings for characteristic based or variable consumption I think...but not clear.
    Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to reply.

  • Change Log For CU60 ( Variant Table )

    Hi All,
It has been found that if any entry is added/deleted/modified from a Variant Table (Transaction CU60), no
change log is found through any standard transaction.
We even tried using Transaction AUT10,Table CDHDR/CDPOS but  requirement not met.
    Kindly advise on the solution.
    Thanks
    Stuti

    Hi Stuti,
Why dont you try using change number, as i remember when we go to CU60 there is option to key in change number.
and i hope using change number it will capture history.
    try out and come back.
    Thanks

  • BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 is not carrying out pricing for variant config materials

    Hi Guys
I need to create a BAPI to create sales orders coming in through a web service from an external system, for normal materials all works well, but for variant config materials the pricing is not happening, like the way it does when I manually create an order, I don't want to manually pass the pricing condition in BAPICOND as I want the BAPI to dynamically determine the conditions from the access sequence.
While debugging VA01 I found that the control goes to the 'PRICING' function module twice, ones for the main material , and next for all its config materials, the second time it calls the 'PRICING' fm with pricing type 'O'. Here it selects the price for all the variant materials and loads into an internal table vkomv and displays in VA01 the variant materials that we select while creating the order, but in the case of the BAPI call, the control is going only to the 'PRICING' fm call for the header.
I have passed 'V'  in the application parameter and the variant material in the varcond parameter of the BAPICOND structure.
Any idea what I might be missing ??
    Thanks
