  • The type of the database table and work area (or internal table)...

    Hello
    I am trying to use a database and select all records from it and store them into an internal table.
    My code:
    Select * from xixi_dbcurrency into table gt_currency.
    The error:
    "The type of the database table and work area (or internal table) "GT_CURRENCY" are not Unicode-convertible . . . . . . . . . .     "
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you

    Hi Thomas,
    Thank you for your inputs above.
    But as you suggested is we use INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE then it resolve the error.
    But I have below piece of code:
    DATA:    it_new_source TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF _ty_s_sc_1,
                  wa_source TYPE _ty_s_sc_1,
                  wa_new_source TYPE _ty_s_sc_1,
                  ls_target_key TYPE t_target_key.
    SELECT * INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE it_new_source
           FROM /bic/afao06pa100
           FOR ALL ENTRIES IN SOURCE_PACKAGE
           where /bic/fcckjobno = SOURCE_PACKAGE-/bic/fcckjobno
           and /bic/fcckjitid = SOURCE_PACKAGE-/bic/fcckjitid.
    But since this is reading into corresponding fields of table the data load from one DSO to other DOS is running for long more that 15 hours and still not getting completed and giving dump.
    So if I switch the search to below:
    SELECT * FROM /bic/afao06pa100
       INTO TABLE it_new_source
           FOR ALL ENTRIES IN SOURCE_PACKAGE
           where /bic/fcckjobno = SOURCE_PACKAGE-/bic/fcckjobno
           and /bic/fcckjitid = SOURCE_PACKAGE-/bic/fcckjitid.
    Then I am getting below error:E:The type of the database table and work area (or internal table) "IT_NEW_SOURCE" are not Unicode convertible.
    Can you please advice on this, as performance need to improve in start routine code.
    Thank You.

  • Difference between Field symbols and work area for Internal tables

    Hi,
    In ECC versions we all know that we need to declare the internal tables without headerline, and for handling the internal tables we need to use exclusive work areas.
    Currently i have an issue that we have been asked to use field symbols instead of work areas...can any one help me how to use the field symbols and also let me know how it will improve the performance of the program..
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kathir

    Hi
    DATA: WA TYPE ITAB.
    LOOP AT ITAB INTO WA.
    IF WA-FIELD = .....
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.[(code]
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <WA> TYPE ANY.
    LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
    ENDLOOP.
    Now the problem is you can't know the name of the fields of the table at runtime, so you can't write:
    IF <WA>-FIELD = .....
    ENDIF.
    Anyway you can create a field-symbols strcturated like the table:
    [code]FIELD-SYMBOLS <WA> TYPE ITAB.
    LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
      IF <WA>-FIELD = .....
      ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    I don't know which are the differences for the performance between to use a field-symbol and to use a structure as work-area.
    The differnce between the field-symbols and work-area is the field-symbol is assigned directly to the record, so u don't need to do a MODIFY statament to change something:
    LOOP AT ITAB INTO WA.
      WA-FIELD =
      MODIFY ITAB FROM WA.
    ENDLOOP.
    LOOP AT ITAB ASSIGNING <WA>.
      <WA>-FIELD =
    ENDLOOP.
    These two pieces of abap code do the same action, so probably the field-symbol improve the performance because it do an access directly to the record without to use an external structure as workarea.

  • Read multiple files and write data on a single  file in java

    Hello,
    I am facing difficulty that I want to read multiple files in java and write their data to a single file. Means Write data in one file from multiple files in java
    Please help me out.
    Naveed.

    algorithm should be something like:

  • How to read from BLOB and Write to a file in user readable format.

    Hi,
         I am trying to read from a BLOB column and write the content to a file in user readable format. So far I was able to read the Blob column using dbms_lob, but not able to write to a file. Kindly let me know the method to do this.

    Hi, with this Java Code from Oracle Technet it's a easy thing:
    // classpath= /ORACLE/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0.3/jdbc/lib/ojdbc14.jar
    // Java SQL classes
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.sql.PreparedStatement;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    // Oracle JDBC driver class
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver;
    // Java IO classes
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
    import java.io.FileReader;
    //Java Util classes
    import java.util.Properties;
    * This class demonstrates the Oracle JDBC 10g enhanced features for inserting
    * and retrieving CLOB data from the database. Using the new features, large
    * data of more than 32765 bytes can be inserted into the database using the
    * existing PreparedStatement.setString() and PreparedStatement.getString()
    * methods.
    public class ClobMan {
    /* Database Connection object */
    private Connection conn = null;
    /* Variables to hold database details */
    private String url = null;
    private String user = null;

    // the new property 'SetBigStringTryClob' which is set to true. Setting
    // this property allows inserting of large data using the existing

    //clobMan.insertClob();
    clobMan.selectClob();

    * Oracle JDBC 10g has enhanced the existing PreparedStatement.setString()

  • How to read XML file and write into another XML file

    Hi all, I am new to JAVAXML.
    My problem is I have to read one XML file and take some Nodes from that and write these nodes into another XML file...
    I solved, how to read XML file
    But I don't know how to Write nodes into another XML.
    Can anyone help in this???
    Thanks in advance..

    This was answered a bit ago. There was a thread called "XML Mergine" that started on Sept 14th. It has a lot of information about what it takes to copy nodes from one XML Document object into another.

  • Read a bfile and write its contents in a file stored in my hard disk

    I will try to describe my problem as clearly as I can.
    I have created a table that includes a LOB column "BFILE"
    Then I'm trying to READ the BFILE stored in our database using the
    DBMS_LOB package.
    so far so good.
    Now I want to write these data that I have read in the step above in a file
    saved in my local disk. The problem is, since the file in databse is
    stored as binary and I read Raw Data , I cannot create an exact copy of this
    file. It seems that It doesn't write the RAW data in the binary format.
    I have used the DBMS_LOB.READ to read the data and it works fine.
    Now I want to create a file in my local disk and dump the data that I have
    read from the BFILE that has been initially stored in the database.
    Is there any solution to this problem?
    I hope to hear from you soon
    Thanks in advance

    for anyone who cares....
    I used CFHTTP to get the page and then used a cffile to write
    the #cfhttp.filecontent# into the new file!

  • Using cfhttp to read a page and write its contents to a file.

    Hi,
    I am trying to get a feed of my ebay store listings to load
    into froogle. Unfortunately, ebay provides the feed as a website
    not a file and froogle (via GoogleBase) needs the file to be
    submitted as an XML file.
    Is there a way to use something like cfhttp to load up the
    page where the feed is located, scan the page and write it's
    contents into an XML file that I can then load up to GoogleBase???
    thanks for the help.

  • Read the file and write the data into string or int

    Ok, here's another rookie question.
    I got to read the line from the file and store it in the memory as string or integer.
    I wrote this code:
    File inputFile = new File("c:/xxx.yyy");
    String outputString = new String();
    FileReader c1 = new FileReader(inputFile);
    StringWriter d1 = new StringWriter(outputString);
    int data;
             while((data = c1.read()) != -1)
                 d1.write(data);
                 System.out.println(data);
             c1.close();
             d1.close();This is how I see it, but it cannot be even compiled because there is no such thing as StringWriter(String) wich I find completely irrational. So tell me, am I retarded or what? No, but seriosly, please help the newbie to understand these streams, am I supposed to use some kind of buffer? Any help appreciated.

    A String is an immutable. You cannot update a String.
    A new String() is basically the same as an empty String ""
    An empty StringWriter can be created with new StringWriter().
    If you use a BufferedReader you can call readLine().
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(filename));
    String line;
    while((line = in.readLine()) != null) {
      System.out.println(line);
    }

  • Using the Borland Database Engine to read AND write SHARED Paradox Database Tables

    I need to read and write Paradox database tables with a C# AT THE SAME TIME AS people using the Paradox tables with legacy Paradox programs interactively.
    I think the only way to do that reliably without corrupting the tables is to use the BDE Borland Database Engine.
    Does anyone know how to do that? I found this c++ program... But I don't know how to integrate this into c#
    http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/bdedatabase.aspx
    Is there another way to do this? Again, most important, I don't want to corrupt the paradox database.
    I can read the paradox records all day long, that is no problem, it is updating at the same time as the legacy program users..
    I also know that the whole thing needs to be updated, but that can not be done overnight.
    Thanks in advance
    Dave

    Being pretty new to programming, I am trying just to read info from Paradox tables with C#. Info is actively being updated from another program at the same time. The program I am trying to write only needs to read data. The other program does use the BDE,
    so it is already present running on the computer.
    I've been looking at code but just haven't found quite the right combination.
    Thanks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • IBooks - PDF Files that a reader can highlight and write notes in?

    Hi,
    I would like to create a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat in Windows that a reader can highlight the text in and write notes. Is this possible? I can get it to show bookmarks and such, but the other two things would be great to be able to do.
    THANKS!

    The point is to be able to use the iBooks functionality.
    iBooks doesn't have the functionality you want. Here is a chart that may be useful.

  • Issue with WRITE statement from Internal Table

    Hi All,
    I have written the below code in a infoset query, the syntax check is ok & when i run the query in debugging mode, i find the internal table being filled with the values & the write statement outputing the values as well.
    But the problem is when i execute the query the output does not show all the lines, instead just displays the last record . What could be the mistake?
    Is it because i have defined Y_EBELN, Y_EBELP & Y_OPENQTY as nodes in the Extras Tab of the infoset & have chosen this for display in my query? How to display the output from my internal table in my query output?
    Hope my problem is clear, await clarification.

    endloop.
    Note:
    In place of the above select you insert your join select statement. It is working for me.
    You have declared your internal table wrongly. In the internal table instead of TYPE use LIKE, it will work.
