Read several lvm files into VI

Hello all,
I have a question about how to load several files into a VI. I have done a long measerement with a high samplerate so LabVIEW has made approximatelly 900 lvm files. I want to do two things. The first thing that I want to do, is to see chart/graph of the data with a scroll bar so I can look trough the data. The second thing that I want to do is write the same data (approximatelly 900 files) to lets say 20 files. So the samplerate is from 100 Hz to 0.2 Hz. Is that possible?
In the attachment I have put the VI that I currently have + one of the 900 files that I want to load.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Mark,
I'm a bit confused about the situation:
- Although you're talking about 900 files I only see 1 file in your attachment (as you also mentioned in the post).
Do they all have the same format/sample rate (and amount of samples) in each column?
If not, then please provide the necessary examples, because I don't see your variation of 0.2 Hz to 100 Hz sample rate based on this file.
That left aside, merging files should always be possible (up to a certain point)
- Can you also provide the code you used to generate the lvm-files?
This will give some background information.
Especially beccause I don't see any metadata available in your lvm-files.
- Graph/Chart choice:
If you only want to see all data at once, then a graph would be the solution seeing that you are not interested in the data sets while they're loading and only in the full set of data. Please do also keep in mind the size of the data set you're loading.
If you want to plot all colums in the same graphg with different sample rates per channel/column, then a good idea would be a multiplot XY Graph.
However, here you will also have to keep the data set size in mind.

If someone helped you, let them know. Mark as solved and/or give a kudo.

    As TSN has indicated we have no idea what program you are using, other than you posted in the Acrobat forum. In Acrobat you go to File > Create > Combine (varies with version of Acrobat). You can also open one and then use the pages>Insert to add the others.

  • Read & write lvm files

    Hi All,
    I am plotting one parameter against two parameters on XY Graph. I need to send this graph along with 4 numerics & 1 string data captured during the testing for printing. So I just thought of saving this as LVM file into a location & filename of my choice & read back for printing after the testing is over.
    XY Graph requires cluster of 2 elements(one is X array, one is Y array) for plotting. I tried writing only graph part alone to lvm file by builiding an array. But when I tried to read back this, it is not either reporting any error or showing the graph on the indicator.
    Hope someone can suggest me how to do.
    Thanks

    Hey
    I have now tried for hours, but now I give up!
    MY WISH -
    Create a Table of Contents (TOC) automatically after I have combined several pdf.files into a single pdf.file.
    I have already bookmarks, shown on the screen (see screenshot below) but I want those bookmark to be visualised in a separate TOC in the top of the combined files.
    This new TOC (which I have inserted) shall be printable and serve as a cover page in a binder.
    I have seen other cheap pdf.programs in the market (e.g. PDF Converter Professional 7.3) which are able to make the above things, easy, fast and nice.

  • Read an XML file into an ABAP program and manipulate it.

    I would like to know if it is possible to do the following in an ABAP program:
    1) Read an XML file into an ABAP internal table
    2) Call an XSLT transformation on the source file and store the results in an ABAP table.
    Is this possible to do? I have used ABAP XSLT in PI, but never in an ABAP program. I see you can use the CALL TRANSFORMATION command, but I have never used it in an ABAP program.

  • How can I read several avi files in single DVD with FRONT ROW?

    Hi!
    Is it possible to make Front Row read several movie files in a single DVD?
    I burned 6/7 avi files in each DVD, but Front Row can't even read the DVD itself!
    Thanks!

    Hi Imcaet
    It sounds as though you have made a Data DVD rather than a Movie DVD. Front Row can only read Movie DVDs. All Data must be in iTunes, or in on of the directories it looks in, such as "Movies" in your home directory.
    If you need to combine the movies, you will need something like QuickTime Pro 7, which can be purchased from the Apple website. You need to Select All the movie you wish to Append, Copy, go to the End of the movie you wish to Append to, and Paste. You can then save/export the movie in full.

  • Reading a text File into a JTextArea

    I know this is really basic question, but what is the best and/or simplest way to read text from a .txt file into a JTextArea? I'm new to Java and any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    it should be in quotes only if it is a string repersentation of a String class.
    FileReader reader = new FileReader("readme.txt");
    quotes are not needed if you write it this way
    String filename = "readme.txt";
    FileReader reader = new FileReader(filename);
    ...remember that String is a class and not a data type, it is also a special case in java where the class can act like a datatype in declarations.
    I don't think anything else can behave like this in java
    String text = "sometext";
    "sometext".equals(text);
    this returns true.

  • How do I read directly from file into byte array

    I am reading an image from a file into a BuffertedImage then writing it out again into an array of bytes which I store and use later on in the program. Currently Im doing this in two stages is there a way to do it it one go to speed things up.
    try

                BufferedImage bi = null;
                ImageReader ir = null;
                ImageInputStream stream =  ImageIO.createImageInputStream(new File(path));
                final Iterator i = ImageIO.getImageReaders(stream);
                if (i.hasNext())
                    ir = (ImageReader) i.next();
                    ir.setInput(stream);
                    ImageReadParam param = ir.getDefaultReadParam();
                    ImageTypeSpecifier typeToUse = null;
                    for (Iterator i2 = ir.getImageTypes(0); i2.hasNext();)
                        ImageTypeSpecifier type = (ImageTypeSpecifier) i2.next();
                        if (type.getColorModel().getColorSpace().isCS_sRGB())
                            typeToUse = type;
                    if (typeToUse != null)
                        param.setDestinationType(typeToUse);
                    bi = ir.read(0, param);
                    //ir.dispose(); seem to reference this in write
                    //stream.close();
                //Write Buffered Image to Byte ArrayOutput Stream
                if (bi != null)
                    //Convert to byte array
                    final ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                    //Try and find corresponding writer for reader but if not possible
                    //we use JPG (which is always installed) instead.
                    final ImageWriter iw = ImageIO.getImageWriter(ir);
                    if (iw != null)
                        if (ImageIO.write(bi, ir.getFormatName(), new DataOutputStream(output)) == false)
                            MainWindow.logger.warning("Unable to Write Image");
                    else
                        if (ImageIO.write(bi, "JPG", new DataOutputStream(output)) == false)
                            MainWindow.logger.warning("Warning Unable to Write Image as JPEG");
                    //Add to image list
                    final byte[] imageData = output.toByteArray();
                    Images.addImage(imageData);

    If you don't need to manipulate the image in any way I would suggest you just read the image file directly into a byte array (without ImageReader) and then create the BufferedImage from that byte array.

  • How to read/write .CSV file into CLOB column in a table of Oracle 10g

    I have a requirement which is nothing but a table has two column
    create table emp_data (empid number, report clob)
    Here REPORT column is CLOB data type which used to load the data from the .csv file.
    The requirement here is
    1) How to load data from .CSV file into CLOB column along with empid using DBMS_lob utility
    2) How to read report columns which should return all the columns present in the .CSV file (dynamically because every csv file may have different number of columns) along with the primariy key empid).
    eg: empid report_field1 report_field2
    1 x y
    Any help would be appreciated.

    If I understand you right, you want each row in your table to contain an emp_id and the complete text of a multi-record .csv file.
    It's not clear how you relate emp_id to the appropriate file to be read. Is the emp_id stored in the csv file?
    To read the file, you can use functions from [UTL_FILE|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/u_file.htm#BABGGEDF] (as long as the file is in a directory accessible to the Oracle server):
    declare
        lt_report_clob CLOB;
        l_max_line_length integer := 1024;   -- set as high as the longest line in your file
        l_infile UTL_FILE.file_type;
        l_buffer varchar2(1024);
        l_emp_id report_table.emp_id%type := 123; -- not clear where emp_id comes from
        l_filename varchar2(200) := 'my_file_name.csv';   -- get this from somewhere
    begin
       -- open the file; we assume an Oracle directory has already been created
        l_infile := utl_file.fopen('CSV_DIRECTORY', l_filename, 'r', l_max_line_length);
        -- initialise the empty clob
        dbms_lob.createtemporary(lt_report_clob, TRUE, DBMS_LOB.session);
        loop
          begin
             utl_file.get_line(l_infile, l_buffer);
             dbms_lob.append(lt_report_clob, l_buffer);
          exception
             when no_data_found then
                 exit;
          end;
        end loop;
        insert into report_table (emp_id, report)
        values (l_emp_id, lt_report_clob);
        -- free the temporary lob
        dbms_lob.freetemporary(lt_report_clob);
       -- close the file
       UTL_FILE.fclose(l_infile);
    end;This simple line-by-line approach is easy to understand, and gives you an opportunity (if you want) to take each line in the file and transform it (for example, you could transform it into a nested table, or into XML). However it can be rather slow if there are many records in the csv file - the lob_append operation is not particularly efficient. I was able to improve the efficiency by caching the lines in a VARCHAR2 up to a maximum cache size, and only then appending to the LOB - see [three posts on my blog|http://preferisco.blogspot.com/search/label/lob].
    There is at least one other possibility:
    - you could use [DBMS_LOB.loadclobfromfile|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/d_lob.htm#i998978]. I've not tried this before myself, but I think the procedure is described [here in the 9i docs|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96591/adl12bfl.htm#879711]. This is likely to be faster than UTL_FILE (because it is all happening in the underlying DBMS_LOB package, possibly in a native way).
    That's all for now. I haven't yet answered your question on how to report data back out of the CLOB. I would like to know how you associate employees with files; what happens if there is > 1 file per employee, etc.
