Reader 10.1.2 incorrectly assumes my printer is not duplex

I have a Canon ip4500 printer.  I'm running OSX  10.7.3 on my MacBook. The printer dialog box in Reader 10.1.2 doesn't
even give me the option of choosing duplex printing or not.  Does anyone know where the printer specification files are that
Reader uses to look up printer capabilities, or does it not work this way?

The print on both sides setting is present on the print dialog.

  • Adobe Reader displaying PDF's incorrectly

I have created a pdf file using Apple Pages. When this file is opened using Apple Preview is displays correctly. When I open it using a browers (Safari or Chrome) it displays correctly. If I open tye file using Adobe Reader on either a Mac or PC the fonts are all jaggie & incorrectly kerned. Printing the file from Adobe Reader results in a perfect print. Any thoughts?

Are you sure you aren't just seeing the preview of the PDF in the email body? If so, all you will see is the first page. You would have to open the PDF to see the rest of the pages.
Email the PDF to yourself, save it to your desktop, then open it. Are all the pages there?
If it actually IS turning in to a .jpg (offhand I can't think of any reason it would) then it's something your email client is doing.

  • Print PDF file in Adobe Reader from Galaxy Tab 2 to HP Printer?

Can someone please tell me an easy way to do this?  I've tried Cloud Print and Printer Share and neither one are very user friendly.  When I open my PDF in Adobe Reader on my tablet 2, the only printer listed is the Cloud Print.  This is a pain in the butt.  It really shouldn't be this hard.

did you get an answer to this one?  I am having the same problem.
I complete the form by the fields are highlighted in black w/white font type.  when I try to print, the form s
    hows blank.

  • Reader 9.3.3 Problem with Silent Printing (print but no preview)

I've posted this in Acrobat Scripting Forum but not one response since 07/02/10 (170 read it but no response).
Running Windows XP 2002 with Service Pack 3
After updating from Reader 9.3.2 to 9.3.3 our users a experiencing a fatal error when printing silently (the form prints but you don't see it.)
    Steps:
    1. The server produces a pdf and an associated xfdf.
    2. The xfdf is executed which launches Reader and populates the fields in the pdf. At the same time the xfdf print parameters pass into the pdf
    3. Java Script executes the print parameters and sends the form to the printer without the user needing to do anything.
    4. After the print completes, the next set of pdf / xfdf would normally be processed but Reader 9.3.3 throws the following errors
    * A message box pops up stating Expected a dict object. The user clicks OK
    * The Microsoft Error reporting dialog box pops up. User clicks Send or Don't send either way it goes away.
    * A message box pos up "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
         Runtime Error!
         C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
         R6025
         - pure virtual function call
         The user clicks OK
    5. Reader closes
I checked the Event Log and it states:
Faulting application acrord32.exe, version 9.3.3.177, faulting module acrord32.dll, version 9.3.3.177, fault address 0x000b271f
If the user opens the form in preview and prints using the print dialog or clicks the Print button I added (uses same Java Script mentioned above) it prints fine and the next set of pdf / xfdf are processed.
All users have rolled back to Reader 9.3.2 and the problem went away.
I hope some one from Adobe is aware of this because there are security patches in Reader 9.3.3 and our clients cannot use our product unless they stay on version 9.3.2. For now all users will have to see if the next Adobe Reader release will fix this.
By the way. I get the same issue in Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.3.3.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Abhigyan,
The Java Script hasn't changed in 2 years. It was developed by an Adobe Partner. Adobe Reader and Acrobat have changed.
I'll try to step through the script but haven't had much luck in past.
Here are the lines that Reader likely is throwing the error:
    oDoc.print(pp);
    if ( bCloseNoSave )  oDoc.closeDoc({bNoSave:true});
As I stated, it works in previous versions of Reader (9.0 through version 9.3.2). The issue began when Adobe released version 9.3.3.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that you cannot print wirelessly with your HP Photosmart Premium c310 on Mac OS X 10.9. I am happy to look into this connection issue for you! I am not sure which support pages you have been to, but here are some that I would suggest going through: 'Printer Offline' or 'Printer Not Responding' Message (OS X).Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal. Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router. If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals. Are you able to print to the printer with any other wireless devices? Hope this information is helpful, and hope to hear from you soon!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Reader 9.1 won't print Sticky Notes/Comments

I had recently updated my organization to version 9.1 of Adobe Acrobat Reader from 7. I had to perform the reg hack on 7 to be able to let my users print the Sticky notes, but that does not work in 9 and I don't see a setting. How do I get around this? We can view the notes just fine, via screen, but who would have thought, we actually need to print these comments on our proofs from our customers.
Anyway, hope someone has an answer so we can continue on 9 and don't have to roll back.
    Thanks.

I'm still getting emails relating to this issue, so I thought I would post an update here...
I've now created a tool for Reader that allows you to print the contents of sticky notes as a part of the original document, without needing the expensive File Attachment right. All you need are the standard Commenting rights, which can be added in Acrobat.

  • Adobe reader printer list not showing

while printing the PDF File, windows  printers are not showing in the printer list. Where as windows printers are working in Word/Wordpad/notepad.

    Same Problem, Adobe Reader 11.0.06
The printer I need is not in the list.
It works fine for everything else, It is directly plugged into my computer, it shows in the services box as a printer I have.
When I go to print, its not there.....
I have 3 others, they are there.  But I need a bigger 11x17 paper so I print to a different printer.
It will not let me make it my default ?  So cant try that.
I have used the Adobe removal tool and reinstalled with no luck
    Any thoughts ??
Where do I download an order working version of Adobe Reader ?
    Thanks

  • Mac OSX Reader 10.1.2 – Cannot Change Default Printer From "Any Printer"

With Mac Acrobat Reader 9.x it was possible to use Page Setup to set the default printer from “Any Printer” to one of our choice.  Once set it was possible to print many documents without having to go back and reset it every time.  In other words it would ‘remember’ the setting.
Mac Acrobat Reader 10.1.2 does not remember the setting of the printer in the Page Setup dialogue and keeps reverting to "Any Printer" between printing; either from the same document or multiple documents.  Thus on each occasion I need to print I need to go to Page setup and reselect the printer.  Irritating, and time wasting.
Now this would not matter if there were not a slight, but nevertheless significant, improvement in print quality between a document printed with the correct printer and “Any Printer” selected in Page Setup.
NOW, before you all jump in with suggestions read this:
1:  I do have the printer selected as the default printer in System Preferences (no difference anyway).
2:  Selecting printer in the Print dialogue makes no difference to the print quality.  It MUST be selected in Page Setup.
ADOBE, can you please get Mac Acrobat Reader X (10.x) to revert to the same behaviour as Reader 9.x ?
    Thank you.

The same problem exists in Reader 11.0 for Mac.  In my case, it defaults to our specialty photo printer instead of the workhorse laserprinter.

  • Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported.

    Hi Guys,
I upgrade from leopard to snow and now I don't have the possibility anymore to to print PDF as a PDF.
Before I was going to print and then choose save as a pdf and everything ok.
Now after the upgrade to snow every time that I am going to print a pdf from a pdf (acrobat 9 and X) I received this msg "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save "
Why that happened ? how can I fix it?
The thing is that I have a pdf form (contract) that I have to fill up and print it as a pdf.
Now I can't do that I can save only the form with the fields unlock.
thanks you in advance for your help.
    Xoxo
    Fotis

Ah.. this is so annoying filled in a long form.. which doesn't allow saving.. I assumed as normal with this type of form I could print to PDF and at least get a electronic copy.. but no, I made the mistake of installing Adobe Reader.. and it has screwed up the print options.. when I try to save as PDF from the print menu I get the helpful suggestion
"Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save."
When I do as suggested.. it helpfully tells me that it will only save a "blank form"..
Adobe has badly messed up their reader.. I now need to print out and then scan this document to get the electronic copy I need.. I will be uninstalling promptly after this fiasco..

  • HP Officejet 8600 Cannot install software because printer is not detected on the wireless network

    Hello,
recently I faced an issue with my new HP Officejet N911a: when trying to install software & drivers, I get an error "printer is not found on the network". Here is my setup and what I tried already:
    - printer is connected to home wireless network (there is solid blue light on the printer etc). It has an IP address 192.168.x.x
    - Windows 7 (64-bit) Lenovo laptop is connected to the same wireless network
    - I don't have any MAC filtering
    - I broadcast my SSID and have WPA-PSK
    - I have default Windows 7 firewall
I was installing the latest drivers from HP website, but when it comes to installation, software never "sees" my printer on the network. I'm able to ping it and access from Windows explorer (by typing printer's IP address \\192.168.x.x).
I can install the printer via "Add printer", and wireless printing works fine, but in this case I'm unable to scan (error message is "Scanner communication cannot be established"). So I assume, that for scanning, I definitely need HP software.
If I connect the printer via USB to my laptop, software installs and I can scan without any issue. However, I would like printer to work wirelessly...
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I don't have a similar printer to check but for few models the default scan to computer is Disabled, please don't ask me why. And we, users, have to enable this by:
Double click printer icon on desktop,
      Click Manage Scan to Computer,
      Click Enable
You may want to tick the last square too.
New software update may remove this option, please use HP Scan from All Programs > HP > HP [your printer] > HP Scan
    Hope this helps.

  • AcroPro9, snow leopard, "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported"

    Hi,
I have AcroPro9.1.3 (and 8 and 7 and Dreamweaver CS3, and probably other stuff too) on Snow Leopard (10.6.1).
I've read about de-installing the Acrobat printer and using "save as Adobe PDF" from the PDF button on the print menu.  However, when I try this, I'm told "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported".  Note that this is AcroPro9, not AcroReader.  I get the same message when I try any of the other options under the PDF menu on the printer menu in Acrobat.  In other applications, tho, (eg powerpoint), the PDF button works fine.
Before the upgrade, the PDF button on the print menu didn't work either (same message), so I used the Adobe printer, but now I can't.  I had always assumed that AcroPro was stopping me from using Apple's PDF generator in favour of the Adobe one.  But maybe some of my settings are wrong.
I now cannot print to PDF from Acrobat.  Help.  There are 120 fourth year software engineering students who will appreciate any help I get, as I can then post my recent lecture notes for them.
(What I really want to do is to take my powerpoint slides and print 4-up versions directly.  But the PPT idea of 4up wastes a lot of space, so I generate 1up PDF, and the 4up PDF from that using Acrobat.  At least, I used to.  It was so much easier in the old days with Latex and psnup ...)
    -- Mike G.

My current solution is to print from Preview instead (which will let me use the Adobe print facility, unlike Acrobat itself).
In fact, I pretty much have no need for Acrobat at the moment.
Adobe and Apple between them seem to have some real problems with Snow Leopard.  I can't get Dreamweaver to run anymore without immediately crashing (yes I looked through the help forums, deleted settings, etc etc).  So I'm now looking for a replacement tool for Dreamweaver and will likely use that from now on.
Adobe is not looking very good to me at the moment.  YMMV.

  • Print jobs not finishing

More often than not, when I try to print a document, the printer does not finish the print job. Usually I can get the document printed, if I print one page at a time!! thanks for your help

    Hello @LMM2,
I understand that you're experiencing issues when printing from your Windows 8.1 computer to your HP Officejet 6815 e-All-in-One Printer. I had previously worked with you on February 12th and we resolved this issue. I'm assuming that that the issue returned?
If the Microsoft  HotFix is no longer allowing you to print multi-page print jobs can I please have you follow the steps below to manually add your printer on the TCP/IP network port, rather than the WSD port as the WSD port tends to be what causing the multi-page print issue.
Step 1: Clear the Temp Files:
Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer, or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
When the Start screen opens type Run
Click on Run to launch the Run box
In the Run box type %temp% and select OK
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard.Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
    Step 2: Download Driver:
Please click here to download your driver. Once the website opens select the Download button. Once the download is complete, if the install window opens please close it.
    Step 3: Gather IP Address:
On the front panel of your printer please gather the IP Address.
On the printer control panel touch Setup
    Touch Reports
    Touch Network Configuration Report
When the Network Configuration Report opens please locate the IP Address. Keep this IP Address handy as we will need it for the next step.
    Step 4: Add Printer Manually:
    1. Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows icon on the bottom left of your Computer screen or by selecting the Windows key on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
    2. Type Run in the Start Screen. Click Run to launch the Run dialogue box.
    3. In the Run box type %temp% and select OK
    4. When the Temp folder opens, locate the 7z... folder. It will not show the same 7z number sequence as the one in the image below.
    5. Click on this folder once to open it. Make sure it show OJ6810 files in it.
    6. Once the correct 7z folder is opened, please copy the file path at the top. Left click once on the right side of the file path bar. Everything will now highlight in the file path. Right click and Copy the file path. Close the window
    7. Reopen your Start screen and type Devices and Printers. Click on Devices and Printers to open it.
    8. Click on Add a Printer at the top. Select Add a Local Printer. (The picture below may look slightly different than your computer as my PC is Windows 7)
    9. Select 'Create a New Port' and select the Standard TCP/IP Port.
    10. Select 'Next' and then type in your printers IP Address that we gathered from the Network Configuration Report. Select Next again.
    11. If you're brought to a list of manufacturers and printers, select the Have Disk button on the bottom right.
    12. In the file path bar right click and paste in the file path we just copied. Select OK.
    13. Select your HP Officejet. Select Next.
Now that your printer is added in you should be able to test printing. There will be 2 copies of your printer under Devices and Printers. The printer we just added should be your default. The older version of your printer will just stay there. If we delete the older copy of your printer than you will no longer be able to use your Printer Assistant Software or Scan. The older version will not interfere with printing.

I just upgraded my g4 to tiger and I am running quark 5 on it. I can no longer export pdfs. I get an error saying "acrobat distiller printer description not found." I am stumped and I NEED to get this working!!
Anybody who knows how to fix this please let me know!
    Thanks

You may need to re-install Adobe Acrobat Pro, assuming you need the functionality of Acrobat to create PDFs. To create simple PDF's there is a PDF menu on every print dialog box that does not require the Distiller printer description file.
