Reading/Writing BLOB more than 1000 KB

Hi There,
I do not get any error while writing a BLOB over 1000KB but it fails to read it. I can successfully write and read a BLOB less than 1000KB.
Is any body knows why this is happening? I am using Oracle10g2 ODBC driver on Windows.
Thanks in advance.
Milind

Hi Jonah,
Sorry for delay in reply as I got pulled out for someother work. Anyway I tired your suggestion and still does not work. Even it fails for smaller BLOBs too.
Do you want to take a pick at my code? Is there a way to upload it?
I am thinking of using PL/SQL stored procedure to read the BLOB. Is it true that one can read only 32KB at a time using DBMS package? Or can one manage the buffer in procedure and then return as a whole?
Thanks,
Milind

Thanks, it seems that it doesn't like to play games, which is a bit of a bummer as i bought this specifically because it was capable of doing that.  To be fair, it is capable... I just need to get used to a sound like sitting by a washing machine on spin cycle...  Wish they would make people aware of this in the Apple Store, its very misleading and not at all desireable.

  • More than 1000 columns

In which database i can create more than 1000 columns in a table

    Hi.
I can´t imagine a problem in the real life where you need such number of columns.
I can´t imagine how you will administer such object.
I think that you don´t know the database normalization concept.
There are a lot of documentation out there about this concept, search in the web "database normalization" and take a minute for reading.

  • Can columns be more than 1000 in a select query (oracle 11 g)

I am getting this error: "ORA-01792: maximum number of columns in a table or view is 1000"
I have a dynamic query where number of column can increase according to the user input.
They can expect more than 1000 columns. Is it possible to fetch more than 1000 rows in a query?
    I appreciate all your help.

    Then they are idiots. IMO.
Open challenge. Show me an entity with a 1000 attributes and I will show you a flawed data
model and a total lack of grasping fundamentals of implementing that into a relation database product like Oracle.I second that - as someone who once had to ETL a system which had a table with 35.000 fields - that's 35K.
It was a system which made extensive use of arrays - and arrays of arrays of arrays...

  • Any way to get more than 1000 characters in notes?

i was just wondering if there was any way to get more than 1000 characters in the notes section of the ipod. i have outlines for school and they are a lot longer than 1000 characters... i didnt know if there is a setting on itunes or the ipod or a hack or mod to make it more than 1000 character limit. thanks for the help

    No.
You can use the iPod in Disk mode and copy the outlines in their native format (Word?) and put them on your own computer.

  • I am running a strain gage test and can't get more than 1000 samples

A formor employee left a strain gage VI that I am attempting to reuse but no matter what I do I can,t get more than 1000 samples before needing to restart the loop. In the task timing (of NI-DAQmx) I have set the acquisition mode to N Samples and the clock settings to read 65000 samples at 25 Hz. There is a DAQmx timing(sample clock) VI that resets to finite samples and 1000 per channel when I close it but I have reset it to 65500 continious samples and left it open to no avail. There is a rate input to this sample clock on the front window that I have tried setting to several different rates to no avail. The Vi will run about 15 seconds, collect 1000 samples and then ask to verify the file location to save the data to. Upon verifying the file location the VI will run another 15 sec. loop before stopping for verification again.
If the loop is stopped rather thanhaving the file verified an error is listed:
Error-200278 occurred at DAQmx Read (Analog 1d WFm NChan NSamp).vi:1
The given possible reason given is: attempted to read a sample beyond the final sample acquired.
When I stop attempting to run the VI the block diagram opens with a dark block around file creation block. I need this VI to run for 10 min. collecting samples at about 25/sec. Can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?
I have made screen shots of the VI and the error code to assist finding the incorrect programing.

    Thank you,
I was just thinking about being able to increse the size of the doc.  for better visability. I have tried working with the rate input for the DaQmx for the sample clock and it does change the frequency of sampling, but I still get just the 1000 samples. I have included Jpegs this time. I have tried to exppand the two DAQ assistants that arn't expanded but am unable to, I also am unable to find a "propertys" command to open them up and see what exactly they do. The nested while loop for output also seems strange to me. Maybe I would be better to attempt a new program but being new to the language I thought using an existing program might be best.

please suggest how create more than 1000 table columnBy creating a proper relation between the "formulated function" and stored value.
    Simplistically put:
Do you model invoices as entities INVOICES_2010, INVOICES_2011 and so on?
Or do you model it as INVOICES that has a year (date) attribute?
It does not make sense to put attribute data into the name of entity. Nor does it make sense to put relationship data into the name of an attribute and create a 1000+ attributes as a result.

  • List with more than 1000 elements

I'm trying to use this query:
    select *
    from street
    where street_cod in ('street_code_list')
It working well when the 'street_code_list' has less than 1000 codes but it fails when it have more, with a message that says that a list can't have more than 1000 elements. How can I fix this problem? Can I use any other kind of object to store my list?
I'm querying the database in ColdFusion using ODBC.
    Thank you in advance,
    Rui

Another thing to consider doing is simply creating a "list table" which would contain your list elements and allow you to do a
    SELECT X
    FROM Y
    WHERE X IN (SELECT X
    FROM Z)
    type query.
I don't know where you are getting your list from, but if it is persistant (i.e, doesn't change with every program run) this is certainly a viable option (and may be usable even if the list does change every run).
If this is being executed in PL/SQL (or some other procedural language) you could also just loop through your list: execute the query with the first 1000 list elements and do your processing, then the next, and so on. Of course, to some extent this depends on your processing, but if you need the entire result set before you can process it, then you could store the individual result sets in a PL/SQL table or an array (if you are using Pro*C or whatever) and then process when the PL/SQL table/array was fully populated.

  • ORA-24335 - cannot support more than 1000 columns - How to solve this?

    Hi,
I got error message 'ORA-24335 - cannot support more than 1000 columns ' when i try to insert x no of rows for a table with following code:
    INSERT ALL
    INTO tableA Values ('A', 'B', 'C', 1, 2, 3)
    INTO tableA Values ('D', 'E', 'F', 4, 5, 6)
    INTO tableA Values ('G', 'H', 'I', 7, 8, 9)
    SELECT *
    FROM DUAL
    How to solve above?
What does it really mean? It's not as easy as if my table has 10 columns than I can't insert more than 100 rows (1000 columns divided with 10 columns = maximun 100 rows to insert), or?
Is there a better/more appropriate way to do insert many rows?
Should I do my inserts with an OracleTransaction (My application is developed with C# and asp.net), as ~follows
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO tableA Values ('A', 'B', 'C', 1, 2, 3)
    INSERT INTO tableA Values ('D', 'E', 'F', 4, 5, 6)
    INSERT INTO tableA Values ('G', 'H', 'I', 7, 8, 9)

    Hi,
So how did you solve the problem? Can you please give an example?
I have the same problem inserting over 1000 values into my Oracle DB. The table only has 51 columns but to speed up the insert command, I use bulk inserts via insert all command. I need to insert 100 rows at a time for a total of 5100 values.
    Example:
SQLCmd = INSERT ALL INTO MYTABLE (VAL_ID,VAL_NAME,VAL_NUM,VAL_TIME,VAL_CMM,VAL_TIME1,VAL_TRIP,VAL_REMAINING,VAL_AGE,VAL_COUNT,VAL_RSTS,VAL_VOLT,VAL_RF,VAL_DC,VAL_HOPS,VAL_STATUS,VAL_ELAPSED,MODIFY_TIME) VALUES (?,?,?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,SYSTIMESTAMP)
    INTO MYTABLE (VAL_ID,VAL_NAME,VAL_NUM,VAL_TIME,VAL_CMM,VAL_TIME1,VAL_TRIP,VAL_REMAINING,VAL_AGE,VAL_COUNT,VAL_RSTS,VAL_VOLT,VAL_RF,VAL_DC,VAL_HOPS,VAL_STATUS,VAL_ELAPSED,MODIFY_TIME) VALUES (?,?,?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,SYSTIMESTAMP)
    INTO MYTABLE (VAL_ID,VAL_NAME,VAL_NUM,VAL_TIME,VAL_CMM,VAL_TIME1,VAL_TRIP,VAL_REMAINING,VAL_AGE,VAL_COUNT,VAL_RSTS,VAL_VOLT,VAL_RF,VAL_DC,VAL_HOPS,VAL_STATUS,VAL_ELAPSED,MODIFY_TIME) VALUES (?,?,?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,SYSTIMESTAMP)
    INTO MYTABLE (VAL_ID,VAL_NAME,VAL_NUM,VAL_TIME,VAL_CMM,VAL_TIME1,VAL_TRIP,VAL_REMAINING,VAL_AGE,VAL_COUNT,VAL_RSTS,VAL_VOLT,VAL_RF,VAL_DC,VAL_HOPS,VAL_STATUS,VAL_ELAPSED,MODIFY_TIME) VALUES (?,?,?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,TO_DATE(?,?),?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,SYSTIMESTAMP)

    Then I call: &DBInsert($sqlCmd, @sqlVals);
This is the error I get: ORA-24335: cannot support more than 1000 columns.
I need to insert about 879,500 rows (51 cols per row). The values I read from a text file in sets of about 48,000 and put them into a hash. I tried inserting one row at a time, but it takes too long, about 28 hrs! Then, I tried the bulk update with only 6 rows and the total time was about 25 minutes. Which is acceptable to us.
    Thanks!

  • How to pass more than 1000 entries in 'IN' clause, Oracle 11g

    Hi All,
I know this is a very common question in Oracle discussion forum. But, Im in different zone.
I use C#, .NET and Oracle 11g. I have a situation where I will create a query statement using 'IN' clause in C# code based on my requirement and execute that statement from code itself with oracle connection object. I do not have any procedures. I must phrase my query statement and pass it on to OracleConnection object to execute it.
    My code looks like this....
    List<decimal> x_Ids = new List<decimal>();
    I will load my IDs into x_Ids here;
string whereInClause = ........I will prepare a 'IN' clause (All IDs separated by ',')
My query would looks like this....
string query = select * from MYTABLE where X_ID in [ whereInClause with more than 1000 entries]
    oraConn.ExecuteQuery(query);
I have a workaround with OR operator with 'IN' clause like below.
X_ID in [ Ids till 1000 entries] OR X_ID in [Next 1000 entries] OR X_ID in [Next 1000 entries] ....so on.....
It is working, but, I heard that this may slowdown the performance of the application. Is this really a performance hit to my application?
Can you please suggest any other workaround to overcome this situation?

    >

X_ID in [ Ids till 1000 entries] OR X_ID in [Next 1000 entries] OR X_ID in [Next 1000 entries] ....so on.....
It is working, but, I heard that this may slowdown the performance of the application. Is this really a performance hit to my application? There should be no performance difference between a statement like
    select * from myTab
    where ID in (1,2,3,4,5)
    OR ID in (6,7,8,10,12) and
    select * from myTab
where ID in (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,12) The execution plan should be identical.
However those values might better be send as a single object (collection or table of numbers type).
I think the ODP or OO4O connectivity allows to create and such oracle object types.
Another way could be to think about how all the values are created? Did any user enter them manually? Certainly not. Then maybe you can apply the same logic to the SQL statement that created those values in your .Net application.
    something like
    select * from myTab
where ID in (select t2.FK_ID from otherTab t2 where t2.Col1 = 100) This approach would probably beat all others performancewise. Since you avoid the overhead of constructing the in-lists.

  • More than 1000 record in IN clause

    RDBMS : Oracle 10.2
    OS : CentOS 5
    Hi,
I have a situation where I have to compare more than 1000 ids in my IN clause.
    I have used something like
    slect col,col2....
    from tble ......
    where .....
and id in (--first 1000 ids ---)
    or id in (--next 1000 ids ---);
the query is taking a lot time. If I omit second IN clause, it executes instantly .
Can you please suggest how to handle such situation ?

Take your full list of 2000 ids, paste them into a program like Notepad++ (or even regular notepad) then use the replace function to replace all commas with: " from dual union all select ". Add "with a as (select " to the front and " from dual)" to the end also add an alias like aid to the first item in the list. Paste that on the front of your query and change your "in" clause to say "id in (select aid from a)"
    Then instead of this:
    select col,col2
      from tble
where id in (1,2,3,4,5);you'll use this:
with a as (select 1 aid from dual union all
select 2 from dual union all
select 3 from dual union all
select 4 from dual union all
               select 5 from dual)
    select col,col2
      from tble
    where id in (select aid from a);

  • More than 1000 photos - iPhone naming bug???

I have more than 1000 pictures on my iPhone. When I tried to import them onto my Mac using iPhoto I realised that for some reason iPhone names the pictures incorrectly.
Instead of going from 0999 to 1000 Phone goes from 0999 back to 0000. It appends the file name with "_2".
    Is this a bug?
I keep all my iPhone pictures organised in a separate folder rather than use iPhoto.
This means that I have to rename all the new photos above 0999. Very annoying.

It doesn't make sense to provide 4 digits and then jump back to zero after using up three of them.
I don't see the problem in keeping 1000+ photos on the iPhone - however, I do back them up very regularly.

What i have thought of is to insert all the selected values in a global temporary table and then in my procedure use the subquery and use the values from the global temporary table.A better approach than using a massive IN list of values. But still problematic ito having a user interface deal with a 1000+ item/code selection. Still a performance problem shipping that amount of data across the network every single time from every single client running this app. And still a flawed ito data modelling and 3NF.
The correct approach would be permanent tables to deal with this. In its basic and simplest form:
    // defines a keyword for a 1000+ items/codes
    KEYWORDS = ( keyword_id, keyword_description )
// associates a keyword id with an item/code id
KEYWORD_MAP = ( keyword_id, code_id )The user interface displays the keyword description. The select clause uses the keyword_id to select from the KEYWORD_MAP the associated list of values as filter criteria for the main query (using a join or IN sub-select for example).
If the keyword is more complex than this basic approach (e.g. partially dynamic and specific per user), then this basic approach can be extended to serve as a "+favourites per user+" list (kind of like bookmarks, but per individual user). Or designed as to cater for the business requirements.
But as you have (very simplistic I realise) describe the problem so far, I do not see a problem as much as a basic flaw in your code and data model.
A user interface for entering and selecting 1000+ codes is clunky. And slow. Sending that data across to Oracle is slow. Inserting that each time around into a temp table for use, is slow.
There's a lot of moving parts here. And that always contributes in degrading performance and making stuff complex (and usually unnecessarily so).
