Real offer or SPAM?

I received the following message today.  I'm not certain that it's real and don't want to click on any of it. The links all go back to an address http:my.email.skype.com...... (a lot of random stuff after) I would think that if it was real it would go to an https address. How do I confirm or report this as SPAM?  I'm very suspicious.

    VZW offers Internet Spam Blocking at http://www.verizonwireless.com/spamcontrols with options to block all Internet spam, email spam, or spam from specific email addresses.
    You can also reply to the sender with a request to stop sending messages.
    You can also register at https://text.vzw.com/customer_site/jsp/messaging_lo.jsp and use the > Preferences > Text Blocking and select from options to block all Internet, all email, specific domains, specific email addresses, or allow only messages using your [email protected]
    I'm sure one of these options will work.

  • Spam bots & e-mail links

    Hi,
    if I add an unprotected e-mail address to my pages, it's a real gift for spam bots.
    Is a "masked" address safer? I mean, +"My Name"+ with "[email protected]" added as invisible URL? Will this masked address be found by spam bots, too?
    And is the only solution to shredder the mail address to +"my.e.mail (at) me.com"+ ?

    I've done it by using the HTML font code to change the font and color. It's a hit or miss thing. This demo page shows a snippet that I've applied it to:
    The code is as follows as displayed here: 2 ways to encode an email address
    <xmp>
    <a id='contactMe'><font color="#0033FF" size="3" face="Georgia">Email Me</font></a>
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    Assemble Obfuscated email address and set div id='contactMe' href
    ObsArray = new Array();
    ObsArray.push('mai');
    ObsArray.push('lto');
    ObsArray.push(':');
    ObsArray.push('my'); // your break up email address starts here
    ObsArray.push('name');
    ObsArray.push('@');
    ObsArray.push('me');
    ObsArray.push('.');
    ObsArray.push('com'); // your break up email address ends here
    function setContactMe() {
    var ObfuscatedHref = '';
    for (ii=0; ii<ObsArray.length; ii++) {
    ObfuscatedHref += ObsArray[ii];
    document.getElementById('contactMe').href=ObfuscatedHref;
    chkEmail = setInterval('checkEmail()', 100);
    function checkEmail() {
    if (document.getElementById('contactMe') != null) {
    clearInterval(chkEmail);
    }}</script>
    </xmp>
    *(Ignore the <xmp></xmp> tags when using)*
    See the code around the Email Me at the top? That's how to change the font, size and color. You can apply that to the test in a snippet. It would look like this: Email Me

  • To spam or not to spam, that's the question

    Hi,
    just recevied an email from Another World Merchandising about some award stuff based on contributions made to SDN.
    I was wondering if this is for real or some spam mail. They are asking some personal details and I'm a bit reserved when it comes to sharing such details via the internet.
    They should be able to track my details via my business card @ SDN. Moreover I couldn't find anything about this on the contributors page which made me doubt even more.
    Does anyone know whether this is a 'SAP Certified' - partner to distribute awards?!?!
    Wilfred.

    I am not sure about this awards
    But one thing i can tell you that how to make sure mail is spam or Genuine

  • What are the different between Netflow protocols and Real Time Capture

    Hi Gurus,
    Let me know, if you have a link will be excelent, the different if we capture traffic in Real Time (using Spam Port) or export traffic by Netflow protocol.
    When I capture traffic and analysis it (using Wireashark or TCPDump) in Real Time I see in detail all data, but in Netflow I see statistic?
    Any other tip or link where could explian in detail, please?

    Capturing packets via a span port and inspecting with Wireshark or   any pcap analysis tools is looking at actual datagrams - the details are   much more indepth and detailed and you are not missing anything. You  see the actual IP conversations.
    NetFlow captures the  header information from each of the IP conversations  traversing your  networking device and allows for flow analysis tools to  decipher them  and display the results. With NetFlow, each IP  conversation is  represented in a flow with information about its source  and destination  IP Address, port numbers, protocol, ToS, etc. Now  remember, NetFlow is  not all sampled - It captures all the IP  conversation information.  There is also sampled NetFlow like Seb stated  in the previous reply,  but not all NetFlow is sampled. You can enable  sampling to capture 1 in  100 packets or 1 in x packets.
    A  simpler way to put it  is, consider a phone call. Packet capture is like  knowing who called  whom, how did they call, what did they use, when did  they call and also  get to know what did they talk about.
    NetFlow  is like your phone bill - you know who called  whom, when it happened,  how long they talked, etc., but you do not know  what did they talk  about.
    If you have a resource intensive network, capture NetFlow from all the nodes and do spanning from the most important interfaces.

    Don Thomas Jacob

  • Skype scam email?

    Hi I just recieved a suspecious email aparently from Skype saying my time to claim free calls for one month is about to expire, seeing this I immediatly showed an interest and clicked the link. which it then said i need to add my billing info as they need to take £1 from my account. obviously I was then a little bit suspucious so I went onto the skype website from a different path to see if it was on there, and the offer was not on the website,
    now my question is, is this a scam or is this a real offer ? I would be happy to show any skype employees the email I recieved

    About almost similar issue, I've contacted Skype's Customer Service department. I sent an email directly to Skype.
    Customer Service has responding with the following:
    "We understand your concerns regarding receiving spam calls claiming to be from Skype.
    If you receive an email or a call claiming to be from Skype under the name of "Online Notification" or "Skype alert system" or from the Skype usernames "drzabcalert11" and "drzabcaert4", do not answer it because it is a spam call that will tell you that you have a virus on your computer and will ask you to visit www.sosbl.com.
    Fraudulent emails and calls may ask you to provide your Skype password, Skype payment details, or other sensitive personal information. They may also advise you that your account is being cancelled, you have been reported for abuse, or that your payment or password has been refused or changed. If you receive an email or a call like this, please let us know immediately.
    These emails and calls are known as "spoof" or "phishing" emails or calls . The people who send them hope that you will:
    Open the attachment to the email (if provided) or answer the call. If you do so, the attachment file or the call itself could infect you computer with dangerous viruses.
    For more information on Skype security, please visit: http://www.skype.com/go/security/.
    To avoid receiving any calls like this, you can adjust your privacy to not receive any call from a person outside your contact list, to do this open Tools > Options > Privacy > Privacy Settings and adjust your settings accordingly.
    We hope you found this answer helpful. Should you need any further assistance or have additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us again.

  • Adobe and Sony Photoshop Elements Serial Number Ping Pong !

    Hi
    I wanted you all to know what is going on.
    See below my first 'ANGRY' support message I sent and their replies - actually this offer tipped me to buy this laptop instead of another one and I did contact SONY several times and they pretended not to understand and in their website is stated and listed as 'included programs'.
    It is a trick to make customers buy their product? Sometime ago offers were 'real' offers.
    IS THIS EVEN LEGAL ? A purchase is a contacrt the buyer/the sellers and its suppliers (Adobe!)
    Next time, it will be a Toshiba (again!) - it has lasted me 5 years or had labour and it still is going - it stillis working and on Linux this time!

    Hello
    I have just purchased a SONY VAIO with these programs bundled/installed/no doscs/no licence!
    I wish to:
    1. register them and I cannot since your program only show 5 groups of digits instead of the 6 needed!
    2. I wish to install Linux on this computer, but I cannot install PSE7 and Adobe Premiere E 7 without a licence!
    Which should have been part of my purchase.
    I feel I have been robbed.
    As soon as you run it, your programs connects and show us the 'called option' to purchase upgrade to version 8 - are you trying to make us pay twice for the same programs?
    What is the solution here? I spent hunfdreds of  £££ during the years 'macromedia too to get treated like this?

    Thank you for contacting Adobe Customer Service.
    The software you received is part of an Original Equipment Manufacturer

    This is what you get to have been a faithful customer that spent £££ in the last 6/7 years or more - before with Macromedia and then with ADOBE !
    What do you think?
    I feel robbed and I am now using GIMP - which better than PSE7 and competitive to PShop Professional.
    Sorry Adobe, but this case is not closed!
    Wrong person to play with.
    As soon as I have time a website will come out with all these stories - I will gather them all and them publish them.
    I am a honest person and democratic and I do not like to be treated like this and I do not trea any of my customers like this, even if some deserve it!

    Dear Barbara
    Thank you for your reply.
    Either Sony or Trade Standards, plus advertising on MoneySavingExpert and

    Just a few millions will see the way your partnership with Sony works, in

  • Feedback for new Email system - do you like it, or...

    Does anyone know whether it is possible to give feedback  on the new email system to anyone in BT who might listen (and preferably do something about it)?
    I am finding it much slower that the previous version; I don't like the pop up messages - email sent - do you really want to log out, etc; I don't like the fact that it times out constantly, even in the middle of an email.  I don't like the fact that it's greyed out every time you log back on, so you have to make the same decision about cookies half a dozen times every day - after telling it N times that I wanted "functional" only, I've now given up - it changes back every single time to the default system - so what's the point in asking.
    I've been using email for a good few years now, other systems as well as BT, and have not come across anything that is quite so annoying, difficult to operate and generally "nannyish"
    Is it just me, or is anyone else finding it a bitter pill to swallow?  Someone on the Forum suggested I use Thunderbird, but having looked into it, it seems to have very mixed reviews.  The only good thing about BT is the anti-virus software - would that still work if I went through another system?

    Hi AnneH,
    Umpire here from the other thread.
    I see you still haven't taken the plunge and tried an e-mail program. Not sure about mixed reviews of Thunderbird (are you sure they were recent reviews as it has been around for many years). I have used lots of different e-mail programs over the years and currently use Thunderbird on my home PC. Anyway, you can use any e-mail program you want to. Windows Live Mail will do the same job, as will many others.
    The reason why most people recommend either Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail is just because they are the ones in very common use. They are from the same people (Mozilla and Microsoft) that also provide the commonly used Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers respectively.
    You really need not worry about the security. In fact I would say that an e-mail program is always going to be a more secure way of accessing your e-mail accounts. A large proportion of computer malware is aimed at web browsers. Webmail is always going to be obvious target for those trying to steal your personal info. The virus checking that BT do on their mail servers will still be taking place in exactly the same way if you use an e-mail program. You will also still find things moved to the Spam folder by BT.
    The commonly used PC security software packages will also fully integrate with the common e-mail programs and check messages for viruses in the background. E-mail programs often also offer additional spam checking services (in addition to the BT spam checks) which you can turn on/off should you wish to. Personally I find the BT checks sufficient and keep things simple.
    Ask yourself this. If an e-mail program offered a lower, riskier level of security then why would so many people with more technical knowledge/experience use them? Also why would most large companies and corporations use them?
    I appreciate that what you would like is for BT to drastically improve the webmail interface and allow you to just carry on using that stress free, but is that really likely to happen in the near future?

  • Glassfish3 cluster queue browser

    Hi there,
    I have some web app running in a Gv3 cluster. I'd like to be able to query/browse messages for a given queue for each node in the cluster.
    I've read about [message pre-sending|http://openmessaging.blogspot.com/2009/03/consumer-flow-control-and-message.html] and my understanding is that if I just use a QueueBrowser I can only see the messages for the node that handles the current request. This is quite confusing, because each reload might result in a different node and different messages.
    It also makes it hard to delete messages from a queue, because with load balancing there is a good chance to pick a different node each request and then the referenced message does not exist (on the node handling the new request).
    Any ideas/pointers appreciated.

  • Photoshop CS6 trigger to Upgrade Graphics Card?

    Photoshop CS6 beta release "the first version to integrate the company's GPU-accelerating Mercury Graphics Engine (MGE)".  Does this mean that I could expect speed benefits in Photoshop if I upgrade the NVIDIA 8800GT card in my early 2008 Mac Pro?
    I have been wondering about whether I should upgrade my 8800GT for a while (my box is fine: new PSU, plenty of RAM) and thought if Photoshop will benefit that might be my prompt to act.

    I have read from couple people at different times that 1GB VRAM is not enough and the "special" MVC 2.5GB GTX's have lots of... punch.
    The 5770s is okay standard Mac Pro offering - two yrs ago = some had noisey fans but there have been 3 revisions since probably and they are and should be quiet.
    Quiet and high performance do not always go togehter. One of the downfalls of the 8800GT is... they fail, and they don't have the best fan and cooling, they aren't dual-slot width in desgin. There are copper coolers but I wouldn't - it has just 512MB unless you got a custom flashed version.
    OpenCL has improved but hard to develop, it needs too much work to optimize the code for one thing. And new compilers - great but will they get used to develop CUDA+OpenCL code?
    Hope the Nvidia GTX 670 becvomes a real offering. At $399 it is actually in the same cost as a 5870 was.
    A Quadro 4000 or whatever comes after it with 2GB is or should be considered as well. Yes?
    64-bit kernel mode and 24GB RAM or more. 16GB and not using 64-bit mode may help from where you are of course, but might want to have more to get the most out of your system.

  • Re: how to claim my 60 minutes which include by purchase office 365

    I have a different, but related problem with claiming my office 365 minutes as described here. The link for "claim your minutes" takes me to my Microsoft account at office.com.  But that account has no knowledge of my Office 365 purchase or related account (which has a different user ID and password). So the page says, "Office isn't associated with this account." How can I tell Skype about my office 365 account? I haven't seen any way to link my Microsoft ID with my Office 365 ID (and why they required both in the first place is another frustration--a subject for another time). I'm completely puzzled, having purchased Office 365 business, why there appears to be no way for me to tell it about Skype or Skype about it?

    I have same problem. Purchased office 365 home premium and have 60 free skype minutes. Linked to my skype account. But does not let me make calls!!!!! from Australia to India. everytime it asks me to buy skype credit.  Did you get a solution to your problem? Tried calling microsoft, calling skype but no matter where I call or chat online, the people who are at the other end toss me around from one to another. No solution but a utter waste of time. It is almost as if the free skype minutes is a hoax...not a real offer. make it so difficult people give up on redeeming but looks good when selling. Very frustrated....tried various times in the last 4 months to resolve this....

  • "An error occurred while verifying your email"

    This actually applies as much to iMessage on iOS as to FaceTime (on both Mac and iOS). I have both services set up and functioning, using my Apple ID as my email address, on my Mac, iPad 2, and iPhone 4.
    What I’d like to do is use a custom email address that I can give out to people without clogging my real email with spam. So I went into cpanel at my webhost and created a custom address each for iMessage and Facetime. I’ve tested them and they can send & receive email.
    But when I try to add these addresses to either app, on Mac (FaceTime) or iOS (both), I invariably get the “An error occurred while verifying your email" alert. And this is immediate, like it barely had time to ping the web before giving up.
    I've tried resetting my network settings on the iPad but it made no difference. I also tried making yet another new email address and it was the same. I also tried making addresses with .com and .jp with no change.
    What might be wrong?

    ever figure this out?  having a similar issue with a mac.com address...
    we have a central mac.com email address with several aliases attached to it...all but 1 of those aliases have been successfully setup on separate ipods or iphones except for my wife's.
    under "Messages," my wife has the central mac.com address and her phone number as eligible contacts.  when i try to add her mac.com alias it bugs out and gives me the "verifying your email" error...also immediate...no chance it's really pinged anything in the time it took to display the error.
