Realtime recording from microphone to network

Greetings,
I've been trying to figure out how I can record from the microphone and process it straight to network. For instance, I would like to stream or upload as I have the mic recording. I saw this capability mentioned in the Apple documentation but I haven't seen any example code in doing this.
This is the excerpt:
"When you record using Audio Queue Services, the destination can be just about anything—an on-disk file, a network connection, an object in memory, and so on.
From: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/MusicAudio/Conceptual/Au dioQueueProgrammingGuide/AQRecord/RecordingAudio.html
I could probably use parts of the "SpeakHere" example code but I'm lost to see how to connect the output to my server. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!
Pat

orangekay - thanks for the response! I guess that's what I would need help with as well. I'm not exactly sure the format that I would need. Ideally, something small... the recordings would only be about 20 seconds max. I'm not sure if I could do such a thing with HTTP requests or if I would have to have the client connect to a socket on my server to send the data too... any insight would be great.

  • Qosmio only records from Microphone

Has the problem ever been fixed that only restricts Qosmio X500's to record only from the microphone.  This is a very serious limiting problem built into Toshiba computers.  I am making movies and have to play my video on the computer and record the sound into Audigy audio editing program.  Toshiba does not give you a Stereo Mix or Record What You Hear feature in their laptops.  I have to move the file to my old HP desktop and record the audio for editing on that computer.  Very cumbersome.  I would love to know of a workaround that works!  I just bought a laptop for my wife and got an HP since I think they have the Stereo Mix feature!!

First, you should edit your last post and remove your serial number, this a public forum and not a place you should be putting up your serial number. We are all just other users and Toshiba owners. So, no Toshiba tech support or customer service staff offer advice or assistance here, so it's completely un-necessary.
Next, searching this site and Googling it, there would appear to be very few solutions. Apparently the stereo mix was not included as an option in the drivers for a (group of?) Conexant sound chip(s).
But, see this post/thread, and read the first and third posts carefully. It may offer you the solution you are looking for. If this doesn't work see these possible work-arounds.

  • Multiple programs recording from same sou

Hi, I have a audigy and I cant use the record function in multiple programs. Like, when im using the teamspeak and try to open skype, just the teamspeak can record from microphone and skype dont work.
    Any help, thank you.

You would have to close your DAQmx reference in one vi before another vi could open one on the same DAQ device.  You could have some sort of flag variable, maybe a LV style functional global, that would signal the need for DAQ use.  Some sort of arbitration scheme in a separate vi would determine who gets priority over DAQ use.  It would then send signals (more funtional globals) to each subvi telling them who should close and who should open.  The differenct vi's would have to coninually poll the functional globals to see if they should open or close their session.  This will be quite complex.

  • Webcam Video pauses when recording sound from microphone

I have a strange problem which i am encountering when recording and playing back webcam video.
I am developing a small application for recording webcam video and audio using FMS and playing it back later from FMS.
I am using AS 3.0, FMS 3.5 and flash CS 5.5
When i record only the video from webcam without sound from microphone the playback is fine. But when i record microphone sound also along with the video, and when i playback the video pauses right where the sound starts for 10 sec or more and then it starts playing. Towards the end the video pauses again and only the sound goes on till the end.
I tried setting the buffertime to 50 before ns.publish and ns.play but that didnt help either.
I tried using the flvplayback component and even their it pauses.
    Any help is appreciated.

Haha, that is such a genius use of common sense! Thank you, I didn't think of that. I certainly will!
However, does anyone know if there is a way of adjusting the program of garageband to fix this issue? Using headphones certainly fixes the symptoms of my problem, but it doesn't actually address the root cause: garageband should only be recording the input through the microphone. I shouldn't need to wear headphones. (And doing so inhibits my ability to clearly hear myself play, and stay in tune.)

  • T400 (2765/21G) Audio-Recording only from Microphone ?

    Hello Forum,
in my T400 works an Conexant Smart 221 Chip for Sound.
Vista x64 Ultimate is my System.
Now I try to record Sound from an avi File (During the File play).
The Problem is: In the Recording Settings, Microphone is the only Choice for Record Source.
I missed an entry like "Stereo-Mix" or "What you hear" (the Devicename is Different).
In every PC or Notebook System I ever had, I was able to record the Sound that actually plays on the System.
So what...? Do I need other Driver ? Doesn´t the Conexant Smart 221 support that ?
    Anyone an Idea ?
I hope the Post is readable for you, and my English is realy not perfect

unfortunately, the stereomix feature is disabled, by hardware, since T/ 61 series.
It seem there is no workaround to get to work. Please have a look at this extenisive thread

  • Feedback from microphone recording

how to eliminate excessive feedback when recording from the microphone in jack??

It's called "feedback". Just like your ears can hear the
speakers, the microphone also hears the speakers. Imagine this: The
mic picks up your voice, computer plays it out on the speakers,
which the mic also picks up and plays back along with the original
voice sound from your mouth; both sounds combined play back through
the speakers...which the mic picks up, and so on. It's called a
    feedback loop.
    Best solution: wear headphones.

  • Recording from mic, not sound card

Hi there. Relatively new to Audition so trying to get my head around it!
I'm using Adobe Audition 3.0 and i'm mucking about with it basically to get some experience for my uni project. I'm trying to compile and edit together a collection of audio clips from a number of web streams. I've done it before for a while on a different computer and it worked fine but i'm having trouble doing it right on this occasion.
Basically, it's recording from my microphone rather than what's being played on the computer. I have no idea how to change this. Any help guys?

I bet you've moved to a Vista or Windows 7 machine.
Under pressure from the record companies, the ability to record the Stereo Mix output of you computer has been disabled or removed from many new computers.
You may be lucky and find it's only been disabled on your machine.  If so, then do the following:
    To enable:
    ->> go to Control Panel
    ->> Hardware and Sound
    ->> Manage Audio devices
->> in the Recording tab window right click in the white area away from any devices and from the menu enable "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show disconnected devices"
->> right click on Stereo Mix to get the properties window and in Device usage "Use this device (enable)"
However, there have been many reports in here (you can do a search) that some computer manufacturers are actually removing this ability entirely, again under pressure from the record companies.
This being the case, you might try some software called Virtual Audio Cable:  http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm
You have to pay for it but at least there's a trial version so you can see if it works for you before laying out your money.

  • Recording from a stereo

How do I set up a voice memo recorder to record from my stereo? It should be possible (as the manual on the voice memo recorder briefly notes, and Apple confirms), by switching the button behind the microphone from "mic" to "line." But so far I've only succeeded in getting a message that no microphone is connected. Ordinarily I have an AV cable hooked up in a way that works for sending music from the ipod to the stereo -- connecting to the output jacks for a VCR, since all the others were in use by cd player, tape deck, and phonograph player). But when I try switching it to the input jacks and recording an old LP, I get only the error message, whether I plug it into the place where the microphone goes or instead where the earphones go (which I guess can't be right) on the ipod. Can anyone explain what configuration would work? Am I right in assuming I don't need any further wires?

    Dell Latitude D610   Windows XP

    Hi,
Are you trying to upload to your computer, the audio tracks on old LPs played on the stereo? If so, probably a better way to go is to get a second set of audio cables to go from the audio/line-out jack of either the phonograph or amplifier (depending upon your stereo's setup) to the audio-in jack at the back of your Dell (assuming you have a sound card installed).
I suspect if you use the iPod Voice Memo mic for recording the LP as it plays over-the-air so to speak, the quality won't be great. Better to input directly into the sound card the audio output produced by the stereo.
Depending upon what you want to do with the audio tracks once it's on the Dell, you can get other pieces of hardware, such as an M-box, or software to further clean up to sound, before you import it into iTunes (for example).

  • Recording from mic

how do i record from a microphone.

    windroid wrote:
Seems to work so I'm happy. Maybe its specific to my recording setup?Ummmm, the "one second" is probably specific to your recording setup... but I would imagine there is a delta_t associated with starting a recording and the recording starting.
I'd imagine the TDL drain should handle that, but if there's like a hardware buffer on the soundcard that Java just doesn't have permission to flush... then you'd have to handle that yourself as you have. If the soundcare or the OS is doing some real-time transcoding to give JavaSound data in the format it wants, for instance, there could be a hidden unflushable buffer...

  • Recording from external source

I am brand new to Mac / switched from pc a week ago. not able to figure out some things yet and havent found answers in support. mostly on the basic stuff. like I was able to record audio from a lp turntable on a pc. it looks like there is no recording program built in to the iMac, or am I wrong? will I have to purchase some type of software to record from external record or tape source?

Sorry some heavy-handed moderation has been going on here. I accidently duplicated my post when I edited it to say 'Welcome to Apple Discussions'. Then I asked the mods to remove the first post above and they've gone and deleted my second post and yours; I am sorry about that.
You posed a question about Real Instruments in the absent post. A Real Instrument can be a microphone input or any device that connects to the Audio-In port (or a USB/Firewire Audio device).
    Hope that helps.

can i record through usb input with phono to usb cable or do i need a analogue to digital converter?

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how you are looking to record from an analogue input using recording software. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Are you recording audio with an analogue device while your internal microphone is still enabled in the sound manager? Is a howl sound made when you are recording with only the built-in microphone? In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on Resolving microphone problems (Windows 8), which should help enable your system to record a better quality of audio.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Using ResultSet to read records from multiple tables

Im using a ResultSet object to read records from tables.
I have a database with 5 tables. Initially, I got it to work fine with one of those tables. What Im exactly trying to do is check if there is a record in a table which matches a given string, and if it does, display some text on some JTextFields. I got that to work fine with one table.
Problem is, how do I get it to work with all 5 tables at the same time?
i.e. instead of searching through one table, I want it to look through all 5 tables and look for the matches.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

After the first interaction with the first table, I
used a stmt.getMoreResults() followed by instructions
to get data from the second table, and so on.
Worked fine.Sounds remarkably inefficient. (Potential for lots of network traffic.)
is this another way of doing it?Sounds more like a document search type of thing than a database query. What about Lucene? Could it help here?

  • Zen Nano Plus: Line in recording from micropho

I've got a Creative Zen Nano Plus and was very happy about its ability to encode MP3s from the line in jack.
Since the integrated microphone is not very good for recording (especially loud music) I tried to connect a microphone to the line in jack. Unfortunately I had to recognise that it doesn't record anything no matter if "Sync Track" is on or off.
I'd be glad if someone can tell me what exactly the problem is. Do I need some kind of special microphone (I read somewhere that it has to be "pre-amped", whatever that may mean) or is the line in jack designed for just recording from devices like a CD player? Help is very much appreciated. :-)

    Big bump.
I did some research quite a while ago and thought that I should report the results for people also having that problem.
A line-in jack is not a microphone-in jack. The difference between them is that the former is not supplied with electricity, so it can't power simple external microphones on its own. Thus, a real microphone-in jack is needed, though none of the Creative products has one included. You will still need a pre-amped microphone to get recordings with proper volume, though. A good and cheap solution is the Archos Stereo Microphone that comes with a preamplifier including volume adjust (http://www.archos.com -> Accessories -> Audio accessories).
Microphone-in jacks can be found for example in the iri'ver iFP-7** and iFP-8** series. Since this players are discontinued and newer models don't have these jacks, it's kind of hard to still use that feature.

    Hi
Do you want to record the sound that will be played through the internal speakers?
Therefore you can use the Windows Sound Recorder or other tools like Audacity. Latter is a very nice freeware tool. :)
