Recent changes to Fon policy rendering service not...

Hi all, before I go into my problem, I'm a web developer, have been for 10 years, I work from home a lot, I live
in a grade 1 annexe adjacent to my landlord, so I have to share his connection (no new sockets / wiring allowed), as a result of this I've been using FON for my primary access route, to the web.
I can tell from looking, over the last 3 / 4 days that the FON system has been going through some changes. This is fine, systems have to change and upgrade, I have absolutely no problem with this, however, since the service came back on line, I am being disconnected after 15 minutes browsing, consistantly. I found this out the hard way. After writing a long email that took 40 minutes, I pressed send to be faced with a timeout page (lost everything). My wireless is connected, my neighbour has no problems with his hub and the connection dialogue states 'Internet Access' (with 4 bars). I won't be fobbed off with; "Have you checked this?", "Have you changed that?", I've been doing excatly the same thing as I've been doing for the last year, yes!!! That's a lot of £15 purchases, in fact, I'd wager I'm one of Fonera's biggest customers.
I'm guessing that a decision has been taken recently to cap the session time for fon logins. There is also a 'cool off period' too, where I have to wait for another 15 minutes, before I can even connect to the fon login page again. If I switch over to an alternative PC, I can login straight away, but the original connection takes a long time to become available... If a decision has been taken to log out FON customers after a short time, then it's no longer fit for purpose. The hype on the FON page, states: 'Continuous and unlimited broadband', it's there for all to see... Especially the Department for Trade & Industry, and especially Fonera's local Trading Standards office.
Please tell me I'm wrong, and that there's some intermittant technical glitch that's being sorted out, I'd hate to have to use a dongle, but if I'm on a 15 minute connection cylce, it's adios FON (with a good four hours invested in the official complaints system).
In fact, it's 'gone' again whilst I'm writing this. If I didn't now take the precaution of copying everything before I hit send, I would've lost this too. Not good enough!

BTWifi/BTWfi-With-Fon (used to be called BT Fon) will automatically disconnect the user if there has been no data activity for 15 munites. This has always been the case.
Subject to a Fair Use Policy of 10,000 minutes per month. If you exceed this in any given month you will have to re-log in to the BT Wi-fi service every 30 minutes thereafter until the start of the next month. This again has always been the case.

    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
    If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

    Thanks for the question. You may need to configure the outgoing mail server for the account. The following resource will outline how to navigate to these settings, however instead of adding a server, you’ll then want to update the settings with your correct username and password:

    There are two main annoying problems with Flash Builder and swc's:
    1.  Flash Builder doesn't reflect changes made to swc files
    Solution : First of all - keep your swc files inside your project folder, you can also disable global swc cache: change as3api.cpp code,refresh swc in flashBuilder bug!
    2. Flash Builder breakes content inside swc files (and also popular problem "TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@1f21adc1 to...")
    Solution : locate the project .actionScriptProperties file and set useFlashSDK=”false” :  Flash Builder 4.7 – useFlashSDK | In Flagrante Delicto!

    Go to your Device Manager and uninstall the network device, including the wireless network card, then restart the computer. Let the system automatically reinstall the driver for you. You can also manually update the network card driver to the latest one.
    After that, check if you can connect to the internet.
    For the Diagnostics policy service issue. please click Start, input regedit in the search box, press Enter to open your Registry Editor, navigate to the key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS\Parameters.
    Right click this key, choose permission, click the user "Trustedinstaller", ensure the permission is set to "Full Control" and "Read". Then click OK to apply the change.
    Restart the computer to check if this service is working now.

    Try tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores on your devices (Settings > Store if they aren't on iOS 6+) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on them.

    Roger, thank you.  I wish I had sent out this question a month ago, when I committed the folly of creating another apple id with my alternate email address.  Since then, I had realized that I didn't seem to need it, hence today's post.
    So now what do I do?  Is there anyway to delete that unecessary apple id?
    And it is even worse than that...the secondary address listed currently in our apple id is a mobile me one that my husband created, but never uses, never checks, and probably doesn't even remember the password for.

    we created a custom WIM Image (Windows 8 Enterprise) with MDT 2012.
    Sysprept the Image, Deployed via SCCM 2012 SP1.
    Computers are Domainjoined. Error with standard Domain User.
    On some computers (not every computer) and not with every user on the first logon following error message arises:
    The Group Policy Client service failed the sign-in The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported
    It works, when you log in a second time but this error isn't very nice. 
    Is there a solution for that?

    Hi,
    The service is responsible for applying settings configured by administrators for the computer and users through the Group Policy component. This issue can be caused by various reasons based on the computer environment.
    Can you find any information in event log about this issue?

    I had this same issue and got it resolved very simply when I contacted Apple SUpport
    Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and sign into your infomation
    > Go to Manage apple id and primary email address
    > Change it to the old apple id that your device is asking for
    > Save changes
    > Go to Settings > iCloud and sign out of the infomation
    > Go back to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
    > Change it back to the correct apple id
    > Go to the email address adn reverify the apple id
    > Sign back into iCloud on your device
    > Smile

Note that the new email address shows when I log into my Apple account and shows it was verified. For some reason the system isn't updating to the new email in ALL places.

    You have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    It sounds like you might need to contact Yahoo! if you aren't able to setup your email account as a new account after deleting it.

  • Group Policy Client service does not start

    Hi,
    As soon as I (administrator on my PC) logon to Windows 7, I get a message saying that the Group Policy Client service failed to start. I'm not sure why I'm getting this error even though the dependencies are very much up and running..
    Below is the error message I get in the notification area as soon as I logon
    Failed to connect to a windows service
    Windows could not connect to the Group Policy Client service. This problem prevents stndard users from logging on to the system.
    As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond.

    I FOUND SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM!
    The crash of your computer caused that - you are absolutely right!
    I had this issue on my laptop since November, and it really bugged me.  I sifted through the event log and found the pattern of events that preceded the issue, and, probably, caused it.
    In short, the pattern is as follows: Windows updates run automatically as scheduled, and when reboot is initiated after the updates are finished, the computer crashes (probably during reboot sequence).  When it boots up, it reports that the last shutdown
    was unexpected, and the issue begins to occur.
    I spent 2 days trying to dig out a solution from the Internet, to no avail, until I came across
    this page.  It doesn't say anything about this particular problem, but it gives more information about SVCHOST process that starts many services, including Group Policy Client.  It looks like during reboot a vital registry settings were lost during
    crash and Group Policy Client "don't know" how to start.  Let me explain:
    There are two places to look in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services this path should contain
    gpsvc key (a folder), which is responsible for service parameters and configuration.  I found that the key was intact, so, you do not touch anything here - just check that the key exists.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SVCHOST This is the most important path you should look into, as it must contain the keys and values referred in the key #1.  Below are descriptions what must be present
    there.
    There must be Multi-String value called GPSvcGroup. My laptop was missing it.  So, you should create multi-string value named
    GPSvcGroup and assign it value GPSvc.
    Next, you must create a key (a folder) and name it GPSvcGroup - this key normally should be there, but, again, it was missin on my laptop.
    Then open newly-created GPSvcGroup folder and create 2 DWORD values:
    First called AuthenticationCapabilities and you must give it a value of 0x00003020 (or 12320 in decimal)
    Second is called CoInitializeSecurityParam and it must have value of 1.
    Once you complete all steps above, reboot the computer and the problem will be fixed.
