  • I recently installed Lion OS and cannot retrieve any of my previous Microsoft Word documents.

I recently installed Lion OS and cannot retrieve any of my previous documents in Microsoft Word.

If they're still on the computer, use TextEdit, the Pages trial, OpenOffice, or similar software to open them.

  • I recently installed Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX--11.4.402.265 and when I open My Mozilla Firefox browser I keep getting this message flashing on my screen: '

I recently installed Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX--11.4.402.265 and when I open My Mozilla Firefox browser I keep getting this message flashing on my screen: 'Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working" and then "Windows is checking for a solution"
This flashes a few times then usually stops but not always.
It happens every time I try to open a new page.
I fixed this problem by uninstalling Adobe Flash Player 11 and installing Adobe Flash Player 10.3. However, now my IE browser wants me to install Adobe Flash Player 11 again. Although I don't use my IE browser frequently, I DO have to use it sometimes. Will there be an update to Firefox 15.0 to correct this issue?

  • Does OS installed through boot camp or in virtual machine has access and full control of the peripherals like native OS X Lion?

I am planning to buy new PC for my faculty needs and this time I am thinking to buy Apple laptop like Mac book Pro 13" or so ( I owe already IPhone and Ipad 2)
To make final decision I need few information . These are:
    1. May I use Boot Camp or similar utility software to install Windows 7 OS next to OS X Lion, or use some kind of virtual box software to create virtual machines with diverse guest OS in them like Windows , Linux etc.?
    2. Does OS installed through Boot camp or in virtual machine has access and full control of the peripherals like native OS X Lion?
    3. May I use the same disk partitions to access to the files regardless if I am using Windows 7 or OS X Lion operating system?
    4. Is there full compatibility between Microsoft Office under OS X Lion and Windows 7 M. Office?
    5. What is general user experience with OS X Lion operating system comparing to Windows 7?
Thanks for  sharing your experience with me.

    1. Yes. You can install Windows 7 natively using Boot Camp Assistant or you can install Windows 7 in a virtual machine using Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox
    2. If installed using Boot Camp Assistant Windows 7 uses all your computer's resources just as OSx does. If installed using a VM Windows 7 will share the computer's resources with OSx.
    3. A Boot Camp partition is separate from the OSx partition. The VMs allow sharing of files across partitions since both OS are running at the same time.
    4. No, not 100%.
    5. Too broad a question. Be specific about what feature you are asking about or search the Internet for comparisons. I use both and find they both work well.

I have had a new hard drive installed. On start up I transferred all my settings and documents from my time capsule. Once complete I have two user accounts. Mine and guest. I cannot access either. Mine says password incorrect even though its not. Any idea what is wrong here and how I can reset my password. I don't have a start up disc. Thanks very much

    From System Preferences/Help:
Reset your login password using your Apple ID
Before you can use your Apple ID to reset your login password, make sure that FileVault isn’t enabled on your computer.
Also make sure that an Apple ID is associated with your user account, and that an administrator has given you permission to reset your own password using an Apple ID. For more information, see this help topic:
Associate Apple IDs with your user account
Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
In the login window, click the question mark in the password field, and then click the arrow in the dialog that appears.
Enter an Apple ID and password, and then click Reset Password.
I don't know if it works.

  • How can I widen the vertical scroll bar width in Firefox and Thunderbird?

How can I widen the vertical scroll bar width in Firefox and Thunderbird?

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Myself and my partner had a iphones. Since the recent software update he now randomly receives texts from my contacts and also when im sending texts. Is this because we share the same apple id. This didnt happen before the software update.

You can both share the same Apple ID for purchases but i suggest one of you use another email for the use of iMessage, Facetime etc.
It is easy to do, the easiest way is to set up an iCloud email directly from your iPhone. Once set up one of you will use this for iCloud services but both still use the existing Apple ID to make purchases.

  • App Expose and Mission Control in Lion

Several people have posted, confused by how App Expose works. I hope to clarify the function of App Expose and Mission Control.
    APP EXPOSE
App Expose in Lion works differently than Expose did in Snow Leopard.
App Expose is intended to show all open windows from the same application.
Expose used to show all open windows from all applications.
To test App Expose in Lion, open two (or more) separate windows in Safari (or any application). Three-finger swipe down on your trackpad and App Expose will reveal your two (or more) open Safari windows.
    MISSION CONRTOL
In Lion, the most similar thing to the old Expose (from Snow Leopard) is the new Mission Control.
To test Mission Control, open several applications. Three-finger swipe up on your trackpad and Mission Control will reveal all open applications, dashboard and spaces. If you have multiple windows open in a single applications (like three separate Safari windows, for example), MIssion Control groups those same-app windows together.

Mission Control ended years of divergent attempts to manage windows and widgets, consolidating Expose, Dashboard, and Spaces into a new Mac interface.

  • Can't find recently installed Lion on hard drive!

I downloaded Lion for my MacBook Pro last week because my 2014 TurboTax disc needed at least 10.7.  The machine has been slowing down considerably and so I asked a friend who is an IT guy to help me.  He said defragging might be needed.  I had already installed Lion when he said to make a bootable version on a thumb drive.  I set about trying to do so but can't even find Lion on my computer!  Can I only make a bootable version on a thumb drive if it hasn't yet been installed?  I asked him via email but haven't heard back.   Should I download it again and this time save the Install OS X Lion to the thumb drive with Disc Utility?  Why can't I find it?  What if I wanted to uninstall it and go back to 10.6?

If you downloaded and installed Lion, Mac OS X 10.7.5, that should be what you see when you go to the apple, left side of the menu bar, About This Mac.  That should indicate that the Version is 10.7.5.
If you installed Lion, the final step of the installation is to delete the installer, if you did not install you should find the installer in your Applications folder.  Click on that to start the installation process.
If you want another copy of the installer, open the Mac App Store, click on Purchases and you should be able to download the installer for Lion again.  However, do not allow it to initiate the installation, copy the installer to a flash drive of at least 8 GB that has been formatted Mac OS X Extended (Journaled).
You can then allow the installer to proceed if you are in doubt about your installation.

I can't instal Lion. After restart my MBP try start and freeze on silver screen with apple sign. Nobody know how resolve this problem. I talk for 3 hours to Apple technical support, online support. I was at Apple Store on Genius Bar. NOTHING. If in Apple is somebody who know?

Do yo have more that one email account on the iPod?
Have you tried sending from another account?

  • Why is it that after installing Lion, touchpad will not scroll

I installed Lion yesterday with no apparent problem.  The only thing unexpected is that the scroll function does not work on the touchpad.  The outer functions seem to be fine.  The mouse scrolls with no problem.  I have restarted a couple times with no result.  I am trying to adjust to using the pad but have to go to the mouse everytime I need to scroll up or down.  How can this be corrected?

Check to see if Scrolling is turned on under universal access in system prefs. System Preferences>Universal Access. Click on trackpad options and turn on scrolling with or without inertia.
