Recommended Books to learn Labview?

I want to write a Labview program that controls an HP 4277A LCZ
meter over an HPIB from a PC. It is a simple program, and I'd like
to put off the NI Labview classes because I'm just too busy right
now.
The program should be very simple. It will let the user enter a
voltage range, then tell the HP4277A to output each voltage
looping through the voltage range. At each voltage point it will
wait for things to settle, take capacitance and conductance
readings of the DUT, store these values in arrays. When the loop
is completed, it will graph the C vs V, Cond. vs. V, and so ther
result of some math on the C vs. V curve, and store the array data
to a disk file.
Can anyone recommend books that would help me pick up Labvie

programming? I have 5 yrs. VB experience.

How well do these books apply to LabView 5.1? That is the version I have
.... I am an experienced programmer (C++, VB) but a LabView 'newbie', and
have a few 'version specific' books on my shelf that become obsolete as the
next language revision comes out.

Recommended book for learning Illy?

I could tell some things about the most famous (or most sold) Illustrator "schoolbooks" on the US American and European market (don't know the Asian or Australian market, or other markets).
But as the authors might be aggrieved about it, I'd only do one non-committal suggestion: Don't use those schoolbooks. Instead, dive into the programme and play and experiment like a girl with her toy blocks.
Almost always better than reading the schoolbooks. Some people, however, do need the schoolbooks. I do know and respect it.

As for specific book, sorry I can't help you. I personally learned a lot more Java by browsing through the API reference than I did by checking out coding examples. But that might only be because I already had a decent background in programming when I started. If you start Java as your first programming language, then an example and explanation filled book would be really useful. Like I said, sorry about not being able to provide any solid recommendations.

I have had LabVIEW Basics 1 and 2 what do I do next?

I always recommend the course of action that I took when I learned LabVIEW (in one week).
Go get "LabVIEW for Everyone" and "Power Programming". They are readily available through NI's website, or through a good technical bookstore, or even a college bookstore. From there, just go through the example programs.
I strongly recommend also learning good style. LabVIEW comes with a style guidelines book (which, apparently, only 6 people have ever read...) This will get you started on the road to good practices. LTR is also a good resource.

Oh, also, when you have gotten some experience, I recommend taking Advanced. I took it (three years after I learned LabVIEW) and was very happy with the course.

Learning labview in proper way

I have started learning LabVIEW since 2009; I even studied the LabVIEW 8.2 book student edition; however, I have not reached to a proper level in solving my problems in LabVIEW although I am the best student in my university. can you please guide me how I can improve my skills in this software because I really need it & I am spending lots of time but I don't know why I can not find the right way to learn this software.

Unless he meant that you should look at the examples to see what badly written codelooks like.
We wanted to get a few people to participate in re-writing the examples using proper style, but no-one had the spare time to handle that huge task. So you may want to reconsider giving the first reply the accepted solution. A suggestion is AFTER you learn proper coding style and architecture, that you review the examples in the example finder and you'll see what I mean. The examples are oftenfull of Stacked Sequences and Local Variables. Two items that you should try to avoid (especially Stacked Sequences).
What I suggest (and I didn't yet read the rest of the posts) is to write some code and post itin this forum for people to review it. People will gladly provide suggestions and recommendations on coding style and architecture.
I would also recommend that you read the Rube Goldberg Code thread.
You may also find out why I recommend not using Local Variables.

The "CLassroom in a Book" is a pretty good start. Also be sure to download the PDF of the User Guide (not sure if it's up for CS6 yet).
A lot depends on what your background is, and what you mainly want to use Photoshop for - design, retouching, animation, etc.

LabVIEW for Everyone is supposed to be a really good book to get started with. I haven't read it myself, so I don't have a true opinion on it.
Other than that, hit the examples.
LabVIEW Basics,LabVIEW 101 for a couple of tutorials.
And ask questions. Learning any program language is a process. So don't be afraid to try things and ask how things work.

Suggest a good book for learning?

Hey, all.
Trying to get into the automating/scripting thing as I've started a new job that has to do a lot of versions of similar animations/illustrations. I'm no programmer, but have had some success with simple AppleScripts in Illustrator and Photoshop, but After Effects doesn't like to play nice with AS. So I figure I may as well focus my efforts on ExtendScript/JavaScript to work with all the apps, be cross-platform, plus help with my limited Expressions knowledge.
So can anyone suggest some good books for learning the JavaScript language? I've done online tutorials, which have helped a little, but just a big ol' consolidated JavaScript book, teaching the structure and syntax from the beginning (again, not a programmer by trade) would be best for me. Thing is, 95% of the books I've looked at are focused on web design, which I'm not that interested in. I'll use one if the core JavaScript teachings are well-presented and I can just ignore the web stuff; just don't want to buy a book that I'm only going to read half of and not learn everything I need to.
All suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance.

That is not a function of the book. That is a function of your ability to learn and understand new concepts. No book can make you learn "faster".
