Recommended development tools and ways to setup a dev env

I am also very new to javacard/smartcard development. So I was wondering if anyone out there can provide some guidance on what are the recommended tools that people use and how to set up a useful dev env.
I am very familiar with eclipse, and would like to know what tools are available with that IDE? Do I use JCOP or not? Open card framework vs using the api in jdk6.
It seems many of the tools mentioned in this forum are very dated and sometimes hard to obtain.

on which Operating system are your DEV, TST and PRD?
This sample is for UNIX/LINUX:
check that all of your DEV, TST and PRD have at least 3 Spool-Workprozesses
select a Spooling System which runs on UNIX/LINUX (in this sample I will use PRISMATnet from OCE which is also called Xprint within SIEMENS, you could also use Unispool from Hollandhouse or HP OutputManager former DAZEL from HP or ........or ......as well)
I suggest your PRD has the most powerfull Hardware, install here Xprint-Master / PRISMAnet-Master.
On DEV and TST install Xprint-Client / PRISMAnet-Client.
On PRISMAnet-Master, setup all your printers like networkprinters (IP-Address and Queuename) or BSD Printers on Windows-Printserver or..... or......, connect all your clients to Master and ALL your printers are available on all SAP Systemes like DEV, TST and PRD. You need to administer ALL your printers only on one machine (for details see the PRISMAnet/Xprint Documentation).
In SAP check in Transaktion "rz10" on each  DEV, TST and PRD to have the correct "rspo" parameters for "PRISMAnet", then implement all your printers with "HostSpoolAccessMethod" "L". You could implement your printers on DEV and afterwards use report "rspoxdev" to export all printers into an ASCII-File. Use this file and again ABAP-report "rspoxdev" to import all your printers to TST and PRD.
You could automate this printer "export/import" with a batch and a variant to be done every 24h or so, what means you have all printers on all DEV, TST and PRD within 24hours but need to maintain only on DEV.
You do NOT need to have your Master on PRD, you could also have a seperate Server for the Master, but do not forget to setup a Client then on PRD and cpnnetc to master.

  • Oracle Development Tools and TFS

    Hey there,
currently I'm struggeling with how to work with Visual Studio Oracle Development Tools and TFS.
I'm relatively new to Oracle-DBs, I'm known to MS SQL Server.
In General my colleagues and me work in the solution Explorer (SQL Server DB-Solution), upload and get the latest Version from TFS. If anything new comes in I can easily use the Schema compare from my solution to the database.
Now my question: How is this possible when working with Oracle DBs? Imagine I get some new tables and schemas from TFS. How do I Transfer this easily from solution Explorer to my Server Explorer / DBs?
Do I really have to deploy each and every script manually?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Matthaeus Woroch,
Since this issue is related to the Oracle tool, you know that it is the third party tool and it has own support site, like the following documents:

  • What's the difference between the Application Developer Tools and Server Applications CD

I have 2 questions about Sql Server 2005.
    1.  I have 2 sets of CDs, one is called Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition, Applications Developer Tools, and another one called Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition Servers Server Applications.
I installed the Applications Developer Tools on my development pc, and I was able to use create and populate a database, and use Sql Server Management Studio fine. I wonders what 's the Servers Server Applications set of cds for.
    2.  I just like to install Sql Server 2005 on a test pc also.  Can I use my Developer Edition Applications Developer Tools to install it ?
    Thanks.

    Bathoi,
    Is this still an issue?

  • DocFlex/Javadoc 1.5.6, a multi-format doclet development tool and more

DocFlex/Javadoc is both a multi-format Javadoc Doclet and a rapid doclet development tool, which allows easy creation of professional quality Java API documentation generated by Javadoc in various output formats.

    KEY FEATURES
    Template-driven doclet architecture
    - Actual doclets are created in the form of special templates interpreted by the DocFlex Doclet, which is the template interpreter / output generator wrapped in the form of a Javadoc Doclet.
    - The high quality graphic Template Designer allows you to visually design most of things, whose development was possible so far only by direct Java coding.
    - The templates are designed independently on a particular output format. All formatting is specified in some universal way using properties of template components. During the generation, it is rendered with the suitable features available in the selected output format.
    - The elaborated support of template parameters (including multivalued list parameters). The parameters are defined and accessed within templates to adjust dynamic properties of template components. Most of options previously used to control an ordinary doclet now simply become template parameters!
    - The possibility to call templates from one another. This feature (along with the template parameters) makes possible re-using the same templates for different tasks as well as organizing template libraries.
    Data processing
    - The entire Doclet API is represented in the form of a virtual XML document (called Doclet DSM), on which the designing and processing of all templates is based.
    - Sophisticated capabilities for data querying and sorting based on an extension of XPath.
    - Full support of new Java 5.0 language features: Generic Types, Enums, Annotations.
    - Simultaneous support of Java 1.4 and Java 5.
    Creating hyperlinks
    - Generation of an extensive network of hyperlinks interconnecting the whole documentation.
    - The hyperlinks can be generated in all output formats that support them (this currently includes HTML and RTF).
    - The universal way of defining documentation cross-links based on the link/target keys specified in templates.
    - In RTF, the cross-links can be generated in the form of page number references, which effectively makes them usable even in the printed documentation.
    - In HTML, the possibility of loading several frame windows from a single hyperlink at once.
Universal support of various formatting techniques
    - text formatting: fonts, colors, borders
    - paragraph formatting: margins, pagination control, borders, colors
    - border formatting: styles (solid, double, dashed, dotted), thickness, colors
    - tables: arbitrary cell layouts, borders, nested tables
    - lists: bulleted, numbered, delimited
    - document fields (RTF): page number, number of pages, TOC, etc.
    - page formatting: size, orientation, margins, headers/footers
    - formatting styles
    - rendering of embedded HTML, which means interpreting in non-HTML output formats (such as RTF) the HTML tags embedded in text data (e.g. documentation comments). Almost all HTML tags practically usable in doc-comments are supported.
    Inserting images
    - statically specified in templates
    - dynamically, obtained by <img> tags found in Java comments
    - supported image formats: GIF, PNG, JPG, WMF, EMF, BMP
    Output formats
    - HTML (both framed multi-file and single-file output)
    - RTF (version 1.6 - supported since Word 2000).
    - TXT (plain text), which may be particularly useful for various utilizations of the Java code information provided by the Doclet API generate XML files by it, or SQL files to import into a database).
    Standard Template Set
    - The ready-to-use Standard Template Set included in all editions of DocFlex/Javadoc allows you to immediately generate:
(*) The framed HTML Java API documentation similar to that generated by the standard Javadoc.
(*) The same documentation packed in a single HTML file.
(*) The unmatched quality RTF JavaDoc.
    - Special features supported by standard templates:
(*) Excluding classes/methods/fields by custom tags and annotations.
(*) Selective omitting of package qualifiers.
(*) Selective documenting of custom tags (similar to -tag option of Standard Doclet).
    - By modifying the standard templates, you can quickly customize the generated documentation according to your needs.
    Doclet GUI
    - Besides command line options, DocFlex Doclet supports an alternative user-friendly way to control the template-based doclets interactively -- the high quality Doclet GUI.
    - The Doclet GUI starts with the Generator Dialog, where you can specify all general settings (such as the main template, the output format and the output directory), start the generation, track its progress and stop at any moment you need.
    - The grid-tree-based Parameter Inspector invoked from the Generator Dialog for a selected template allows you to view the descriptions of all template parameters controlling the doclet and set their values according to the parameter data types.
    - The generator options specific for the selected output format can be set in the corresponding Format Option Inspector (also invoked from the Generator Dialog).
    - Once the generation is finished (or cancelled), you can start it again with different settings or a new main template without restarting the whole Javadoc.
    Integrations
    - With any system that runs Javadoc (in particular, see below)
    - Apache Ant
    - Apache Maven 2
    - Eclipse
For lots more information, see DocFlex/Javadoc homepage: [http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_javadoc/]
    AVAILABILITY
    DocFlex/Javadoc comes in two editions:
    (1) The full edition called "DocFlex/Javadoc" as it is. This is commercial software, which includes all the implemented functionality.
    (2) The reduced freeware edition called "DocFlex/Doclet". It includes only the output generator and can be used as an interpretor of any custom templates. It also includes the standard template set, which allows you to instantly use it as an HTML doclet (similar to the standard one, however with some special features) plus an excellent quality RTF doclet.
Both editions are available for downloads on the page: [http://www.filigris.com/downloads/]
    THIS VERSION
    New features:
    - The template interpretor works 15-20% faster
    - Improvement of RTF output
    - Multi-valued (list) template parameters
    - Custom elements
    - Standard Templates: Selective documenting of custom tags (similar to -tag option of standard doclet)

    WHAT IS DOCFLEX?
DocFlex is an innovative technology for development of high quality template-driven documentation/report generators by any kind of data obtained from various software applications via the Java APIs they provide.
    MAIN CONCEPTS
The whole DocFlex technology is based on four generalizations:
    (1) The mapping of an entire Java API onto a virtual XML-like representation made of some elements and attributes so as to process any such a representation in a universal way using techniques borrowed from the field of XML, like XPath (or more precisely, a conceptual analogue of XPath with some extensions not present in it).
    (2) The abstract formatting concept based on four layouts (flow of text, flow of paragraphs or paragraph-like objects, tables and lists), which can be rendered in most modern document formats (e.g. HTML, RTF, XSL-FO etc.)
    (3) The automatic generation of hyperlinks (or their page number reference equivalents) by matching the sets of keys produced from certain natural properties of the things (entities) being documented and hyper-linked.
    (4) The representation of the object controlling structure of the output generator (made on the first three principles) in the form of a plain-text template with a possibility to create and edit such templates using a graphic Template Designer, which visualizes the controlling objects (now becoming template components) in a form resembling the output they will produce.
    OTHER APPLICATIONS
In fact, DocFlex/Javadoc is not the only application of DocFlex technology. The following is a summary of other DocFlex software:
    DocFlex/XML
The SDK and runtime environment for rapid development and execution of template-driven automatic documentation/report generators by any data obtained from XML files.
This is currently the most complex and advanced application of DocFlex technology. Actually, this tool can be considered a powerful alternative to XSLT. At least, it is definitely able to do what XSLT apparently not (for example, see “XSDDoc” below). We will publish a more detailed comparison “DocFlex/XML versus XSLT” with the next DocFlex/XML release, which is coming very soon.
    DocFlex/XML home page: [http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_xml/]
    DocFlex/XML | XSDDoc
A template set for DocFlex/XML that implements a high quality W3C XML Schema documentation generator in HTML and RTF output formats.
For more details, please see: [http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_xml/xsddoc/]
    DocFlex/XML | WSDLDoc
A similar template set for DocFlex/XML that will implement a high-end WSDL documentation generator.
This product is not released yet.
    DocFlex/Together
A template-driven documentation generator for [Borland Together|http://www.borland.com/us/products/together/] (which is a UML modeling tool).
This is the earliest application of DocFlex technology and probably the most beautiful one. It works only with Together Architect 1.x, which is now obsolete. Unfortunately, since Together 2005, Borland eliminated any open APIs (for unknown reasons). Because of this, further development of DocFlex/Together was impossible.
    DocFlex/Together home page: [http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_together/]
See also examples of the UML documentation generated with it: [http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_together/examples/]
The future DocFlex/UML is going to generate something like this as well.
    DocFlex/UML
A template-driven UML documentation generator based on [Eclipse EMF|http://www.eclipse.org/emf/]. This tool is in early development stage yet. In a sense, it will continue DocFlex/Together with the focus on integration with other UML tools that use Eclipse EMF.

Now, DocFlex/Javadoc v1.4 has been released specifically dedicated to Linux (Mac OS X) support:
(*) Some early bugs have been fixed, which prevented it working properly under Linux.
(*) A special RTF option was introduced to generate OpenOffice.org friendly RTF (see below)
(*) Improved support for external document viewers.
(*) Now, DocFlex/Javadoc software includes the shell script files prepared to quickly install and launch it under Linux
    New RTF option
A new RTF output option "Tune output for MS Word has been introduced. This option, actually, allows switching off that very tuning (which until now was the default mode) to produce an RTF friendly to open with other non MS Word applications, e.g. OpenOffice.org Writer under Linux.

    Hi Prahal,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Since you are using Selenium WebDriver which is third-party product, the issue is out of support range of Visual Studio testing forum. I suggest that you can consult your issue on Selenium support:

  • Removing Developer Tools and Classic system from OS X

    Hello
I'm trying to free up space on my hard drive and I was wondering how I go about uninstalling the classic (OS 9) system and Developer Tools from my hard disk? Do I just drop to trash or should I do it another way?
Also, I was wondering if my mac mini install disks for V10.3.9 will only work on this Mac or if they could be theoretically used as install disks on another machine?

    Hi arbela:
Developer Tools can be dragged to the trash and
deleted. The OS 9 system generally has three folders
associated with it: Applications (Mac OS 9),
Documents, and System Folder. Applications (Mac OS 9)
can be dragged to the trash and deleted, and if
there's nothing in Documents, so can that.
The System Folder is trickier, because of its use for
Classic. Open the folder, then drag everything in the
folder to the trash. Delete. Then drag the System
Folder to the trash. You'll probably have to restart
before you can empty the trash.
As for your Mac Mini install disks, if they are the
grey discs that came with the Mac Mini, then they are
designed specifically for the Mac Mini. In other
words, they'll only have hardware drivers for the
components shipped with your Mac Mini. If you were to
    use the discs on an iMac, it probably wouldn't boot;
if it did boot, and the installer ran, the iMac
probably wouldn't boot afterwards because none of the
drivers for the specific hardware on the iMac would
    be installed.
    Hope that's clear.

    Hello
Thanks for your advice! All sorted

  • No Oracle Developer Tools and Datasources for VS2012 Update 3

    Hi all
I am using VS2012 Update 3 and I have installed Oracle 11.2.0.3.20 32 bit successfully. Unfortunately, the tools are not showing up in the VS About Dialog, nor do I have the Oracle Datasources in VS.
    Any help appreciated.
    Juerg

    Hi Christian
Thanks for reply. Yes I did install this exact version. The funny thing is that I can open a project in VS2012 (created in VS2010 with the 11.2.0.3 version on an other box) on my machine and the VS2012 EF designer opens correctly when double clicking on the .edmx file. The Oracle Client data providers however do not show up ( and therefore I cannot recreate the model from the database). Also the About dialog does not contain the VS Oracle tools. Build and run however works, as well deployment to an IIS/R2008 server where 11.2.0.3 is installed.
The ifile is a parameter in the tnsnames.ora file to reference other tnsnames.ora. That is the way we reference the company wide tnsnames.ora on a shared drive. This does not work in the 12.1 ODT version.
    http://oracleprofessional.blogspot.ch/2007/05/using-ifile-to-centralise-tnsnamesora.html
IMHO the uninstalling of the 12.1 and reinstalling 11.2.0.3 somehow screwed up the registry or whatever. I am quite familiar with VS and also the command line switches, I did all I could (/resetsettings, etc), but nothing helped. Also a repair of VS2012 did not help. After the not working 11.2.0.3 I tried to reinstall 12.1, but with no success. I always did an uninstall and a reboot in between each installation/uninstallation.
Another question, this installer looks a bit outdated, did Oracle ever think about using newer ways of providing such an installer ( NuGet, and/or vsix) ?
    Kind regards
    Juerg

  • Berkeley DB Development Tools and Aids

Are there any off-the-shelf tools that aid the developer in examining the contents of a Berkeley DB? I am looking for the equivalent of Quest’s Toad but for Berkeley DB.

    Hi,
There is no GUI for performing administrative tasks. You can use the Berkeley DB utilities in order to examine the content of a Berkeley DB.

  • I'm ready to drop Firefox because Scratchpad repeatedly opens anytime I have to Capitalize anything and at no time have I ever used the Web Developer tool

Have used Firefox for many years on multiple computers. On the home desktop, anytime you need to CAP a letter, Scratchpad opens instead. Every single time!
This is only having on this one computer, none of the others.
I have completely uninstalled, cleaned and purged Firefox from this computer multiple times. I have run multiple virus checks. I have done the Firefox reset multiple upon multiple times.
Yesterday I completely uninstalled every scrap related to Firefox I could find on the system, did a system clean to get rid of hidden and duplicate files, and with what I hoped was a clean system, reinstalled the latest version of FF. Same problem.
WHY is Scratchpad coming up anytime I hit the Shift key?
Somehow the developer tools and Scratchpad still show up and ultimately the problems start again.

    Hello Mark,
I can understand your frustration with this issue - especially after you are running into this issue after resetting your computer too.
Can you please check if the scratchpad comes up, if you disable the setting ''devtools.scratchpad.enabled'' by setting the value to false. You can do this by following the instructions in the Mozillazine about modifying the configuration of Mozilla [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config Editing About:Config]
    Thank you

  • Neptune for UI development Pros and Cons

    Hi ,
we are evaluating neptune for UI development for what are the pros and cons of using neptune.
i see only that webdynpro abap developer can be easily moved to neptune , some javascript knowledge is still required.
    some question
    1) can neptune make calls to odata services ? do that requires code in javascript or ABAP
    2) any accelerators provided by neptune  like for workflow scenarios , list and details .
    3) can sap standard fiori apps extensibility  or modification is possible through neptune
    4) security if its accessing business functionality directly
    regards
    Yashpal

    Hi Yashpal,
I will give you my view, but as Robbe says I work for the company and other SAP developers like DJ Adams has other development tool preferences than me ( I call his Sublime Text development spaghetti coding and he sees Neptune as a crutch that restricts a developer's freedom but this is just a friendly point-of-view discussion and I have promised him a beer in Walldorf next time our paths cross there)
So the important message is that SAP has opened up their platform for different development tools and it is now a choice for the individual developer or SAP customer. This is a fantastic move by SAP and I think a bit overlooked by the community, Look at the new Xamarin partnership as an example (and yes they are a competitor, but I did mention them )
Now the pros of Neptune are in my opinion:
ABAP developer friendly development (removed 90% of JavaScripting needed)
Connected to the SAP transport System (Software Logistics as is)
Drag Drop designer that gives structured code (easy for a new developer to take over code, compared to the spaghetti provided by DJ <-  I'll need to buy a few extra beers for that remark)
Native json communication provided by the Neptune Server (you can argue all you want about Odata, our solution is more flexible gives incredible performance and superb and easy to use offline capabilities)
Integration with Adobe build, use an SAP program to generate hybrid apps  (The average ABAP developer does not install cordova and build hybrid apps - with Neptune he/she does)
Integration with SMP. Automatic connection with the REST API's of SMP both on-premise and in the Cloud
Reduced time to market. One of the largest SAP implementation partners in the Nordics stated that Neptune reduced development time by 80%
Free templates (Advanced templates such as fully functional PM, HCM, SD templates are available Experience | Neptune Software  <- sorry for the marketing but you did ask)
UI5, all of the other third-party tools (Not SAP tools like App Builder, Eclipse etc) uses non UI5 frameworks. I personally believe that SAPUI5 (UI5) is the future of SAP UX and thus it only makes sense to keep a common and future-proof framework.
Network crunching. We optimize all networking. Which makes sense for mobility.
no extra infrastructure needed - it is a certified add-on and takes 15 mins to install.
Works with most versions of SAP. We even have alot of customers using 4.7 (we need the ICF so nothing lower). This is something the community often forgets. Yes it is cool to play with the latest Netweaver release, but do our customers have that installed?
    Cons (woot!)
Cost, even if Neptune is very affordable it still requires license for productive usage (free for developers though - and hey we need to live as well ) So custom coding  is cheaper in respect to license (but not in TCO in my opinion)
Generated code, even if we have added as much freedom to code custom JavaScript as possible there will always be restrictions in generated code compared to notepad. (But I haven't met an issue that couldn't be solved by custom coding in the Neptune Application Designer yet)
Other backend systems. Neptune is based on ABAP and as such it obviosly works best with an ABAP backend.
.... (Add stuff from other non Neptune ppl )
    Regarding your questions:
    1. Yes you can use Odata, best way is to consume it on the ABAP level, but you can of course consume it through JavaScript as well (Not recomended by me)
    2. Yes see above (free templates and also premium templates by our partners)
    3. No you can't modify a fiori app with Neptune, but the two solutions work perfectly together (You can add Neptune apps in the Fiori launchpad) One of our partners have created an RDS solution based on both Fiori and Neptune.
    4. Neptune is an add-on to Netweaver and as such has no extra security in itself beyond that (And we seek not to do that). But we support any security you wish to add on top. I strongly advice having a look at the SAP Secure offering (App protection and MDM)  as well as SMP (also the new Cloud edition which gives easy affordable protection for your backend)
So that was my very biased answer
    Njål

  • IE11 Developer tools missing menu

    Hi,
I'm trying to use developer tools in ie11 on my home pc.  I use it in ie9 every day at work.
Where are the options to clear the cookies, cache, etc.  I don't see any of that stuff.
    -Eric

I wasn't able to see the IE11 Developer guide link at the top and bottom of the forums like you said.  I searched around and found the IE 11 Developer Guide.  Here's a link to the IE11 Developer Tools part for anybody who reads this in the future:
    IE 11 Developer Tools
It doesn't look like there is any way to clear the cache, cookies, etc. with the IE11 Developer Tools the way there's been in every version of the IE11 Developer Tools that I've used since IE6, I think.

  • Can't Uninstall Developer Tools.

I know I need uninstall-devtools.pl, but it is not in Developer/Tools and I have no idea where to find it... My copy of X Code is quite screwy and I really want to uninstall then reinstall... does anyone know where I can download the script or could anyone upload it somewhere, I would be eternally grateful :-D.
    Cheers!

Guess things have changed. Look in /Developer/Library. I seem to have uninstaller-type things there.

  • Older versions of Developer Tools?

I am a Mac newbie. I'm also a newbie at Java (just getting ready to start teaching myself). I have a G3 Blue Clamshell laptop with 192 megs of RAM and I'm running 10.3.12. I can't run the latest version of OS X because it requires at least 256 RAM. I've tried installing Java142Update1Tools.dmg but it says it can't install because I don't have the Developer Tools installed. But I can't find the version of Developer Tools that will work on my computer. I haven't been able to find any links to the older versions of the Developer Tools and/or XCode.
Does anyone know where I can find these? Thanks in advance for any and all information you can give.

I'm fairly sure you want Xcode 1.5. It may be on your 10.3 disks already, or you can download it from here:
    http://connect.apple.com
Log in (get a free online membership if you don't have one) and go to Downloads, then Developer tools. Search for "v1.5" (no quotes) and you'll be in the right place. Warning, it is pretty huge (372 MB).

  • Safari scrolls to bottom when filling out form with developer tools in use

I love the Safari developer tools and use them all the time, but one behaviour is driving me up the wall. Whenever I have the developer tools open (whether for the error console, the web inspector, etc.) and I try to enter data in a form on the page, for every character I type or control I click, the page scrolls to the bottom. I end up having to close developer tools (not great if what I'm typing is to see the result in the tools) or typing blindly. Scrolling back to the form doesn't work, because it scrolls to the bottom again for the next character typed or control clicked.
I'm using Safari 4.0.5 on Snow Leopard, but this behaviour has been consistent for some time in earlier versions of Safari and on Leopard. Any tips for changing this would be greatly appreciated.

HI and Welome to Apple Discussions...
Make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
If you still have problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If you can use Safari / Dev tools, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.
