Recommended development workflow for Newbie

Hello to this forum.
I am a non-professional developer. I have a site for my
images and various dance quicktimes that I originally created with
Go-Live, photoshop and image ready - no flash, spare design. The
workflow should be obvious from the tools. photoshop for the page
layouts, image ready to create roll-overs using layer styles, and
go-live to generate-manage the web pages and links.
I know i have to dump go-live, it won't even install on my
mac. here is my question.
Can i use photoshop to create the page layouts and have
layers with styles applied for roll-overs that link seamlessly into
dreamweaver, or should i go with fireworks which I know nothing
about.
One thing that I would like... I have many quicktime
"gallery" pages and photo pages that I want to have the same header
and footer elements, links, etc.. They differ by the actual image
in the center of the page and a title. I would like to be able to
define the header and footer elements either in photoshop, or
fireworks or dreamweaver so i only need to change one thing if i
modify the header and or footer and leverage it as a template for
all the pages.

The good news: yes.
The bad news: if you do this I will find you and hurt you.
One should never use a graphics editor to write HTML just the
same as one
should never use an HTML authoring application to create
graphics (even if
you could). The HTML written by Photoshop, ImageReady,
Fireworks, you name
it, is suitable only for prototyping not production. Why?
It's not
'sturdy' - it's written to EXACTLY duplicate the layout
resident in the
graphic, and it does a good job at that, but as soon as you
begin to add
content to that 'hardwired' layout HTML, the shape of the
contents changed
to something unanticipated back when you exported the HTML
and the layout
will break apart in unexpected ways. Using such HTML accounts
for perhaps
30% of the posts and problems on this forum. Add to this the
well-documents
and easy to demonstrate problems associated with using
'layers' as a primary
layout tool, and you are in deep water without a life jacket.
What should you do? You don't have many good alternatives:
1. Hire someone to do the work for you and mentor you at the
same time
2. Learn enough HTML and CSS that you can effectively work
with Dreamweaver
(which will *expect* you to know this) and avoid the pitfalls
mentioned
above
3. Blast ahead and produce a site that breaks unexpectedly,
conveying an
undesirable impression to your visitors

This, too, is a problem. QT is not the best format for your
video since
there are MANY people who do not have it installed. Flash
video would be
the ideal choice here, due to its commanding install numbers.
Sorry to paint such a harsh reality for you.
The final bit of good news, though, is that your simple site
should be very
easy to do in Dreamweaver.

Recommend development environment for Adobe Drive 4

Looking at what is needed for Adobe Drive 4 and I wonder what the recommended development environment is.
Would this suffice:
Adobe Drive 4 SDK
OSX 10.7
Eclipse Juno 4.2 64Bit
JDK 1.6 64bit
Or should I be looking at 32bit versions?
And should I follow what was in the documentation which was older version, 3.6 of Eclipse for instance?

Please take 32 bit application to set up you dev environment, especially, make sure JDK 1.6 32 bit is used.
Regarding Eclipse, 3.6 is recommended

What is the recommended developer hardware for iPad and iPhone development?

My company is just starting to develop iPad and iPhone apps for internal use. We are looking for advice on the hardware needed for developers. What would current developers recommend?. Could we use a single MacMini where multiple developers use VNC to develop applications? What are the pros/cons?

Any current device is more than capable.
You need to decide how much screen, harddrive, ram and processor capability meets your needs beyond just running Xcode.
Remember, making apps means more than just text via an IDE - will you edit video; graphics; databases...? Branding? Code sharing? Edit more than one project at once? Use Safari for references?
Max the ram in any case.
Check the Apple Store for refurb'd Mac minis - those seem to be the sweet spot.
And don't forget devices to test with

It might be that this has nothing to do with workflow? You are supposed to archive the vendor invoices with transaction SARA, or? And for this you need ArchiveLink?

Hi I need to develop workflow for Grievances. For that we need to develop an application for interface (EP)from where the Grievances can be applied.
Can anybody please suggest me are there any RFCs for Grievance (Info Type 102).

Dont use any of the tables which you have mentioned. No use of those tables. Simple things you do not complicate the things. Already you have created a custom BOR ask the webdynpro developer to use trigger the workflow using the FM SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT and put the necessary values in the t-code SWE2 for event linkage. In the workflow you design only for determining the approver logic and how it should route. For the updation if your are using new webdynpro screen then updation will be taken care by WDA developer using the FM HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION and he will complete the workflow task manually by the Fm SAP_WAPI_WORKITEM_COMPLETE. If your are using user decision step then you have to do the updation with the same FM HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION. That it.

Recommend workflow for progressive HD footage

I have to edit down some footage shot on XDCAM EX 1080p30. The end result will be PAL SD on DVCAM. I have the workflow for getting to PAL SD using Compressor, but I am wondering where the best place to go from progressive to interlaced is. My instinct tells me to leave it to the very last stage when I output the video to tape via a DV timeline. I am converting the XDCAM to ProRes in the first instance and staying in ProRes to PAL SD.

that's what I'd do. Compressor works just fine for the conversions to PAL

Workflow for Document Approval

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to SolMan and is trying to figure out how to implement a workflow for document approval. A similar question has probably been posted in the past, but I can't find a definite solution, only some hints.
Basically, what we're trying to achieve is the following:
When a document is uploaded using SOLAR02, and the creator of the document changes the status to ready for sign-off, we would like to trigger a workflow which will send an email to a couple of persons who are responsible to approve the document. We already implement the digital signature, we just want to add an automatic email notification to be sent to the approvers.
Based on my research, it seems that this is not supported by SolMan and hence we have to do a custom development.
There's an object key called SOLMANDOC and we should raise an event (something like SIGNATURE_PROCESS_START) to send an email notification to the approvers. Can somebody confirm whether my understanding is right ? Does anybody know the name of the BADI that we can modify to achieve our goal ?
FYI, we're using SolMan Rel 7.01 SP 19.

I created two roles with object c_sign_bpr one with the value "EING"   and the other with the value "VERIF"
I assign this status scheme to a document type in my project.
I tried to release a document the first step was the author of the document move the status to "REVIEW" and I got a window that i need to enter my password and it worked ok.
The problem is in the second step that I need to release the document (now is in a REVIEW status) When I press on the icon in order to release I didn't get the option to release only to cancel there is no "V" option in the small window.
Can you please tell me if I did a correct customization? also can you tell me if my problem is maybe missing authorization? Can you direct me to reading material or to an example?

best workflow for creating games for pc and starling games in AIR.
I need to develop for tablets with starling and AIR as well as for pc without starling ie: downloading from a server.
In starling you have to
1. instantiate starling
2. use texture atlases for loading graphic assets - well its the recommended way
3. use juggler
etc...
ie: with all these differences is it best to:
1. create completely different projects
2. just create different classes for the starling specific parts
3. use a conditional compile constant
    eg: CONFIG::STARLING
            "then do this"
or      CONFIG::CPU
          "then do this"
I currently have the latter but it feels a little messy. I would prefer separate classes for each platform where the image loading is concerned.
There must be so many game developers out there but in large gaming companies that know exactly what to do. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction with a book or something.

The other thing is that I can't see the games being very different as you suggest. I have downloaded Lee Brimelows tut on creating a starling game on Lynda.com and the code is great for creating games using states for menu, play, gameover etc... The only difference is that he uses texture atlas and there is a great difference in loading them etc... so technically you would only need to handle them in a different class as collision and the rest of game play should be the same in both. I think!!!
Well, actually not exactly but near enough - maybe it might be easier to create separate projects and just cut and paste the new code introduced.

Development environment for SharePoint 2013

We have requirement for one of the project. Team size would be approximately 30 resources. Development would be entirely for SharePoint 2013 Intranet solution. this will be OOTB Intranet application. We will be developing InfoPath forms and Nintex Workflows.
For such requirement we would like to setup local development environment by using either Virtual Machines.
Can anyone help me to identify that how many VM's would be required for the same? How many simultaneous users can use and work at a time? What other things I need to consider for infrastructure? How can i suggest the best possible solution for this.

You can get step by step workflow for PO using standard workflow

And for two levels of approvals you have to configure in SPRO the path is
Purchase Order:
SPRO> Material Management->Purchasing->/Purchase order-->Release procedure ---> Procedure with classification ---> set up procedure with classification ---> double click on Release strategies and Workflow.
If you don't know about this configuration, you have to confirm with your MM consultant.

Workflow for PO Release Strategy

Hi all Workflow experts
We are on ECC 6.0. We have created a 3 level Rel strategy PO and are creating the workflow for this scenario.
The business object we are using is BUS2012 and WF Template is WS20000075.
Each time a PO is created/changed workitem will be sent order we have defined, ie. L1, L2,L3. Each time mail goes to the inbox of the concerned approver.
The problem is when the final approver cancels the release. Under activity 'Release of PO canceled, Task TS20000167 we have assigned the agent as Originator of PO. However at this instant mail does not go into the originator's mailbox.
Approver is cancelling the release in ME28 as it should be, I presume.
Are we missing something here? Is there any additional settings required to trigger the mail to the originator?
I would be happy if the responses from you all does not point to SAP .htm files! since I have already gone through them but it is very hard to understand some simple things!

All,
I gather that ver 4.7 onwards, SAP has supported the PO rejection/cancellation feature. Since I am working on client's server which is 4.6 c I am not able to implement this. Unfortunately, in the process of doing R&D within the sandbox I seem to have damaged the template WS000075. Now I am getting an error message at the first approval level saying "relase written to buffer".
Can anyone tell me what does this mean? Also is there a way to retrive the original template form the development clients?

whenever PO created one mail is sending to respective person.
but here i want to make it (or) ceate new workflow for below requirement.
whenever the PO released it has to go for approvals based on the condition(i.e., release strategy)
for that how can change (or) create new workflow ?
