Recommended way to implement external resources

Hi ,
We have some static data that we need to update once a day. The data is coming from another Oracle DB. I understand there are two options to implement this:
1) To define this when defining a data object. Oracle BAM is responsible for keeping this up to date (How ? , what frequency ?).
2) Use base views and run a plan that will update the data objects according to our requirements.
Wanted to know the pros and cons of each method and what you would recommend.
TX in advance ,
Alon

You can use either approach.
1. Use External Data Objects - These accessed when the report is launched, and not every time there is an update to it. If you need the views that are based on External Data Objects to refresh more frequently you can embed them in External Content views and set a refresh rate the External Content view.
2. Running a plan may allow you to have more control if needed.

  • Recommended way to format external drive?

    Hi
    I just bought a Lacie external drive because I want to start recording on an external drive instead on the internal drive of my iMac (running Tiger). However, the question of formatting and partitioning has arisen. My thinking is that it would be handy to use the drive to also back up my windows files, which relatively speaking, wouldn't take up much space on the (1 Terabite) drive.
    So my question is: would it be best to format the whole drive space in FAT 32 (to enable Mac and Windows use for the whole drive) or would it be better to devote a small partition to FAT 32? That said, my disc utility window on the Mac doesn't appear to offer the FAT 32 option. There is, however, a "free space" option, which I assume is the option of leaving one partition open to future formatting as needed?
    Alternatively, given my priority is recording, would it be best just to leave the whole drive in the MAC OS Extended format that it is currently in?

    Some info on "journaling", why you need it, why you might not.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2355
    It's good to remember that journaling can only help avoid corruption to the static file system. If your system crashes while recording there's no help for any files that were being written, if anything, the extra disk writing caused by journaling an audio drive could possibly cause wear & tear on the drive with no appreciable benefits. Personally, I leave it off on the audio drive.
    On one system I have journaling off on the system drive, makes for a smoother OSX ride.
    I gather that journaling (like MS indexing) was designed for servers that were continually accessing/writing many small files, it was a time saver if the system crashed as the drive didn't have to go through as long a verify process.

  • Is LDAP or AD as a external identity store recommended in ISE implementation for machine authentication

    Hi Experts,
    I have question about External identity store integration in ISE . I had chance to go through the cisco doc for ISE configuration especially for external identity store .
    there are two ways to configure external identity store.
    1) AD
    2) LDAP
    Which one is actually recommended ? technically which one would be convinient to configure to set-up machine authentication. do we have any limitation in terms of functionality in either of one ?

    Hi Leo,
    its not duplicate post , I have created one more post where you have linked that is for client policy enforcement . I want to understand how certificates will be pushed to client.
    This post is to understand the LDAP & AD intergration with ISE .
    I have requirement where client is asking to intergrate machine database using LDAP.
    I am quite new for LDAP intergration that is the reason I have created this discussion.

  • Different ways to implement OM Module

    Hi All,
    I am new to this, Please let me know all the 5 different ways to implement OM and PA module in HCM

    Basics of OM
    OM is mainly used to perform numerous business and human resources processes. As the first step an organizational plan is created. The organizational plan is a functional structure representing the enterprise. In OM, the current organizational plan can be created and additional organizational plans are created as archives (this provides a clear picture of the organization at any point in time:past, present or future). Organizational Management is the basis for additional Human Resources components and functions as well as for SAP Business Workflow.
    OM is installed before Personnel Development(PD), Recruitment, Compensation Management (CM/ECM), Workflow, Time Management, Security, ESS/MSS etc. OM structure provides the foundation for these modules and streamlines business processes. For example MSS setup can be such that the manager will be able to view only the details of those working under him/her - the details of persons working under the manager are picked up from OM. Similarly data from OM is used when WF has to route the work of approving the leave of an employee to his/her manager.
    OM is based on the objects and their relationships. Jobs, tasks, positions, etc are the objects. These objects are created in OM. The relationship between various objects is also stored in OM.

  • Recommended way to add "EULA" screen to DMG generated by JavaFX Packager

    Hello,
    What's the recommended way to add a "EULA" screen to the DMG generated by the JavaFXPackager?
    Does JavaFXPackager support addition of a "EULA" screen or I need to post process the DMG some how?
    What's the recommended solution(s)?
    Thanks.

    It is mentioned in the docs but may be example will help.
    Search http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/deployment/self-contained-packaging.htm#BCGIBBCI for license.
    Basically you need to add resource of type "license" to your fx:deploy and then it should be injected as long as it is plain text file.
    Use of RTF is possible if you customize .plist but this area is poorly documented by Apple and customization may be tricky (you need to know how to inject RTF styles into plist.
    One workable approach is to use external tool to create DMG once, then extract .plist from it and merge it into template to build your package.

  • Best way to implement an EULA popup (imprint) in RH 9

    Hello there ,
    I have a question about RoboHelp 9. The fact is my help page is divided into 2 iframes.
    A left sidebar iframe containing a navigation menu, and a right sided iframe, the main one, containing the data. (index, content, ...)
    The fact is I want, when the user load my helpdesk, to pop up a message, asking him if he agree to the legal terms of our society (EULA).
    If he answer Yes, the popup is closed, and he can navigate freely in the menu, but if he answer No, I want him being redirected on our official website.
    Is there a simple way to implement this kind of popup, with the following features :
    focus locked on the popup (the user cannot naviguate until he didn't agreed)
    the redirection have to take over the whole window, including the iframes (because if he is redirected only on the main iframe, he still can load pages from the left sidebar menu)
    I tried :
    to use BSSCPopup(), but it loses focus as I click outside the popup, and it cannot be closed properly.
    I tried to use jQuery, but RoboHelp don't appreciate the library, and reformat the code (impossible to make it works).
    I tried to use simply javascript, was the best results, as I could keep the focus, close the popup, but the redirection was always made on the main iframe, whatever I tried.
    Thus, that leads me to begging for help, 'cause I just don't get why it's that hard to implement this in RH.
    Thank you for any suggestions or help

    Actually, it is a bit more complex than you think. For example, when the user leaves the page and returns an hour later, you don't want to show the popup (overlay, because you can close a popup) again. This means that you need to save the acceptance in a cookie. The content files should also check whether the terms are accepted and whether the navigation frame is not shown. If the navigation is not shown, the content must show the EULA acceptance overlay as well.
    Note that there will be a way to circumvent this with web development tools if you are using JavaScript (just disable the overlay with the tool). Or even the possibility that JavaScript is turned off. The only reliable way would be server side scripting (PHP etc.) and RH doesn't support that. So make sure that your EULA contains some information on this possibility as well, such as a link in your topics stating that using the pages means that you accept the EULA. This may even be easier to implement, but I have no idea of the legal implications.
    You can use jQuery for RoboHelp (I've used it quite a bit.) In my experience, RoboHelp doesn't reformat the code when it is in an external script file. I use a lot of script files and I have never seen this behaviour before (though that doesn't mean it doesn't of course).
    Such a requirement is a lot of work and the best I can do on the forum is point you in the right direction.

    I have External resource(a JAR file) in my BPM Studio. This External JAR calls some web service and gets data. Everything is working fine when I run from BPM Studio with its in bulit Derby engine and all.

    Hi,
    You could either try marking the External Resource(s) with the Jar files as versionable or copy the Jar files to these directories:
    <Enterprise Home Directory>/enterprise/webapps/webconsole/WEB-INF/lib
    <Enterprise Home Directory>/enterprise/ext

  • Recommended way of getting entity manager from pojo class

    Hi,
    In our application we have the need or retrieving entity manager from 'pojo' classes.
    More specifically we have singleton classes which act as 'data' repositories and are accessed from both servlets and ejb.
    I'm aware that the repositories classes might be problematic, but in the current stage we can't perform significant change in application structure so I am looking for a 'fast' solution as possible.
    The best way will be to lookup entityt manager in JNDI, but as I undestand this feature is not avaialabe in weblogic.
    I understand that the preffered way for getting entity manager in such situation is by using @PersistenceUnit annotion on the calling location and lookup entityManager by that name in the pojo. This is however problematic for us since since we access the repositories from variouse locations (many different classes).
    Possible additional solutions we thought of:
    - creating an 'entity manager factory' locator ejb. This is an ejb with no transaction attribute, which has one method getEntityManagerFactory. It injects entityManagerFactory and returns it. This is the fastest soltion to implement. Is this a valid one?
    - using application managed entity manager in such situations. We have a problem doing so now because the creation seems to fail for variouse reasons.
    What is the recommended way?
    Thanks.

    To obtain an EntityManager instance, first must obtain an EntityManagerFactory instance by injecting it into the application component by means of the javax.persistence.PersistenceUnit annotation:
    @PersistenceUnit
    EntityManagerFactory emf;
    Then, obtain an EntityManager from the EntityManagerFactory instance:
    EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager();

  • Use of Remote JDBC  SQL Database External Resource

    Does anybody here uses a Remote JDBC External Resource to connect to a database? If so, can you tell me if had any impediment with this approach?
    I'm asking this because our company has a lot of tools to monitor a lot of weblogic assets (such as jdbc connection pools and datasources) and We'd like to monitor all BPM-to-database connections usage and pool health. Other feature that we'd like to give to BPM application is the weblogic's capability to use an Multi-DataSource (one logical DS that represents more than one phisical DS).
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Luiz Rocha

    Hi,
    We are facing connection leak in our application .We have defined External resouce as Remote JDBC which is defined in weblogic config.Xml. If any body could explain is there is anyway to handle closing connections manually as we do in J2ee conn.close() in ALBPM ??? . I found runtime configuration in oracle implementation type when defining external resource (i.e supported type:oracle database) an attribute
    "*Connection idle time* (mins): The connection is closed after the defined time"
    But i dont find any equivalent entry in my config.xml as we do our implementation of type Remote JDBC.....
    Any advice on this and how connection closing happens in Normal scenarios within ALBPM will be very useful.
    Our connection pool attributes reads like.....(Note *the values of few attributes deleted)
    <JDBCConnectionPool AddOracleFlagToXAResource="true"
    CountOfTestFailuresTillFlush="1"
    DriverName=""
    InitialCapacity="150" KeepXAConnTillTxComplete="true"
    MaxCapacity="200" Name=""
    PasswordEncrypted=""
    Properties="user=" ShrinkingEnabled="false"
    SupportsLocalTransaction="true" Targets=""
    TestConnectionsOnCreate="false" TestConnectionsOnRelease="false"

    TestTableName="SQL SELECT 1 FROM DUAL"
    URL=""
    XARetryDurationSeconds="300" XASetTransactionTimeout="true" XATransactionTimeout="420"/>
    .Advice us can the below attribute can be added in Connection pool properties or anything else......
    **{[(*Inactive Connection Timeout The number of inactive seconds on a reserved connection before WebLogic Server reclaims the connection and releases it back into the connection pool.***
    ***You can use the Inactive Connection Timeout feature to reclaim leaked connections - connections that were not explicitly closed by the application. Note that this feature is not intended to be used in place of properly closing connections.***
    ***When set to 0, the feature is disabled*.)}]**

  • Best way to implement service in 3-tier webarchitecture

    Hi,
    What would be the best way to implement a service in the following 3-tier TopLink architecture: no ejb and a webclient (jsp/servlets)?
    Currently I have a server session type and a service pojo using a singleton SessionFactory. The service pojo is used by the jsp/servlets.
    Should the service pojo be a singleton? Should a SessionManager be used?
    In the examples on OTN a clientsession is directly acquired in the jsp/servlets.
    Thanks,
    Ronald

    Ronald,
    There are numerous ways to do this. I would recommend using the SessionFactory. The SessionFactory makes use of the SessionManager, which holds onto the singleton Server session. You can then acquire client sessions using the oracle.toplink.sessions.Session interface from the SessionFactory. There is no need to hold the SessionFactory in a singleton yourself and you do not need to reference the ClientSession directly either.
    We have introduced this latest approach to simplify coding. It will work in both the web architecture with JSP/Servlets accessing the sessions as well as within an EJB tier (Session/Message Driven beans).

  • Best way to Implement Internationalization

    Hi All,
    I went through many forums to find out which is the recommended way to Internationalize a WDJ application. As far as I know there are 3 ways of achieving Internationalization:
    1. using .xlf files
    2. .properties file
    3. Adding the language specific text in the Message Pool.
    But I have used the .xlf approach. Is there any document which says the best approach for Internationalization or the pro's and cons of each method.
    Regards,
    Poojith MV

    Hi Poojith,
    I am not sure about the availability of the document describing the best way;however, I have used all the 3 ways for the same project.
    I'd say, .xlf files and texts in the messagepools should not be considered two different approaches. The texts for the UI elements get stored in the view specific .xlf files and there are separate message pool specific .xlf files. We can utilize the message pools along with the dynamic parameters for the messages using the .xlf files for any language. Hence I'd say for a WD applications, .xlf file is the best approach. Properties/resourcebundles can be used for the other Java applications. also if you add your properties files under the Configuration node of your WD application, you'l be able to maintain it via NWA.
    Also, there is a way to externalize the hardcoded texts in your WD application. After externalizing them, you can make use of the .xlf files and use them conveniently.

  • Best way to implement Aperture on a shared Mac

    I'm looking for some suggestions on the best way to implement Aperture on my work computer.  It's a 15" MacBook Pro Retina.  Since I don't own the laptop, can I just run Aperture from an external drive in case I have to give the computer up on short notice?  I have a 1 TB Lacie drive (USB 3.0) that currently holds a copy of all of my images.  I don't currently have Aperture, so this would be a completely new install.
    I know I can keep the images on the external drive as Referenced files, but what about the Library?  Can (or should) it be stored on the external drive?  If not, would a backup copy on the external drive (perhaps using Vault) be sufficient for portability?  For example, if I have to give the laptop back could I simply hook the Lacie up to a new MacBook, install Aperture, restore the latest Vault backup and be up and running?
    Any thoughts (pro & con) would be appreciated.

    If you use a fast drive with a relatively fast port (Thunderbolt, USB 3) you can keep your Aperture library on the external volume. But I would keep the Aperture application on the internal drive. If you buy Aperture from the AppStore, your licence would entitle you to install Aperture on any Mac you own or control - for private purposes. So while you have the work computer and control it, you can use Aperture there - for private purposes. Simply delete the app when you return it and unplug your external drive.
    For example, if I have to give the laptop back could I simply hook the Lacie up to a new MacBook, install Aperture, restore the latest Vault backup and be up and running?
    That would work.
    Make sure, your Lacie drive is formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled), and set the "Ignore Ownership on this volume" flag. I assume, you are using different account names on the two macs.
    You should be able to download Aperture again to your new MacBook, if you use the same AppleID.
