Reconciliation of Securities inventory with Depository bank statements

Hi gurus,
my Customer wants to reconcile inventory of bonds in their books vs Statements from Depository banks (Custodies):
--- what are positions at different Custodies (specified @ TRS_SEC_ACC in Bank information);

Thanks in advance for your advices.

Hi,
There are mainly two steps:
First upload external statement to sap system using RECON1 in newer version use RECON4. This will store the external data in system, you may need to write a automatic capturing program so that RECON1 can capture data directly from excel/notepad based on key matching items like ISIN code automatically. etc
Using RECON2/RECON5, you can match the already uploaded data and the actual position (Nominal amount for % quoted/ No of units for Unit Quoted) of each instruments and get a difference report.
Using RECON3/RECON6 we can delete unwanted external statements from system.
Hope this clarifies your doubt. I do not see any other standard tools where we can have the matching function for positions both external & from system position.

    Hi
I implemented the EBS in my company 4 month ago and here are some advises on the problems i experienced in the setup process. As for the setup process it is straightforward just read the manual at help.sap.com.
We used the MT940 format for importing bank statements from our bank.
The first thing i would advice you to do is make a list of all the possible transactions that are to be handled by the EBS application.
Then make estimation of how many payments that are recieved in constant structured way which the EBS can handle. (invoice number in the text)
The people in our accounting department complained alot about the output format in the EBS not being userfreindly compared to the advises they recieved in e-mail form from the bank so if not the bulk of your payments can be processed automatically it might not be worth the trouble to implement it. (i still think they uses the the email to postprocess the transactions that was not automatically cleraed)
Make sure you havent got any other applications handling some of the transactions that are contained in the bank statement because this wont work. eg. we had a program automatically placing fx trades on customer and bank account which meant that when we recieved the fx trade on the statement it was already placed and therefore had to be placed on a interims account for later reversal.
We get alot of bankcharges on our payments and we set up the EBS to place them automatically on a bankcharge account if the difference between the recieved amount on the invoice was less that 30 dollars.(we just assume that a difference is a bank charge) This means that a customer if he wants to always can pay x dollars under the invoice amount because it will be automatically processed and therefore go unnoticed.
Establish a contact in your bank who knows how their MT940 format has been structured.
Then contact your bank and get them to provide some test statements of old bank statements.
Make sure that you are not the first customer for using the MT940 format or else you will end up being ginny pig for the banks possible mistakes.
As i learned the way banks interpret the MT940 format guidelines can varry quite alot eg. the ocmt field our bank interpreted as the original payed amount in its original currency. SAP inprets this field as the recieved amount in its original currency and therefore it always try to clear the OCMT amount if availleble which meant it always tried to clear the original amount even though there had been taken som bankcharges underways.
I also found out that our bank didnt really bother to specify the type of transaction (interest, fx contract, bank charges, check and so on) which meant we only had two external transaction codes availleble s103 for incomming payments and ntrf for outgoing payments. This gave alot of trouble as i had to identify the type of transaction through seach algorithms.
Our bank also had trouble creating the MT940 file because it has a limited number of characters availleble which meant in the initial file that it only gave the first x characters of each line and then left out the rest. This meant that the text was broken into alot of pieces and you hardly ever had a complete invoice number to clear on. We had the bank altering their format so they now leave out text at the end of the transaction instead.
In the implementation process we experienced that the EBS application created a payment advice each time the amount of the payment didnt match the invoice in the system. We implemented a note from service.sap which disabled this and just assigned the difference to a bankcharge account.
I dont know if you can use these advices but just felt i would try to warn you about the potential problems that i experienced in the process. .
If you have concrete questions to the EBS setup feel free to contact me and i will see if i can help you.

  • GL account issue with Electronic Bank Statement

    Hi Gurus,
I need your help and advice with the following issue. We are using ECC 6.0 and have implemented electronic bank statement. It is working fine but we havea new requirements.
Presently all the incoming ACH (ACH in) are being posted to one GL account set- up for such payments +++++++++1. Going forward, we want to post customer incoming ACH payments to seperate GL account and all the other incoming ACH's should keep on posted to the old account +++++++++1. I do not have exposure to configuring EBS and not sure how should I configure this.
I would really apreciate if you can guide me with step by step details to do this set-up.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    Shalu

Usually ACH in or outgoing, the corresponding bank will send you a code.
so once you get into the config item for EBS
    1. you create account symbols( ACHPAY and ACHPAY2) and assign accounts (++++1 and a debit account ++++2) respectively
    2. Create posting keys, usually this is mimicked with a Z attached to the bank code for ACH payments (EX: 675 is the BAI code for ACH, create a posting key with Z675)
    3. create rules for the same posting keys like debit and credit account symbols, doc types, what kind of postings it should post( clearing entry or posting to GL)
    4. Create a transaction type and in the following step create external transaction types (usually bank BAI codes) and map them to posting rules and the processing types
    5. finally map bank accounts to transaction types

  • Without a receipt, but with a bank statement, will I be able to get a free replacement on my broken iPod headphones, bought only two months ago?

    Hi,
I bought a new pair of iPod headphones just over two months ago from an HMV store, and in the last few days, one of the headphones has stopped working altogether. Unfortunately, I no longer have the receipt for the headphones, but I do have the information booklet, the one year warranty statement and a bank statement showing the transaction of when I purchased the headphones. Am I still able to get a refund or replacement for my headphones, as the damage was not my fault, just a technical fault?
    Thanking you in advance,
    Natasha

Am I still able to get a refund or replacement for my headphones, as the damage was not my fault, just a technical fault?
Yes. Make a trip to your local Apple Store and show them what is going on. Since the headset is still under a year old, they should swap it out for you at no cost. Unless for some reason they deem the issue the result of misuse or abuse, but that doesn't sound like the case here.

  • Issue with electronic bank statement upload

    Hi All,
Presently I face an inssue in posting electronic bank statement upload (Tcode - ff_5).
    The scenario goes like this.
First we do payment to vendor using 'f110' transaction. Here the document currency is different from local currency.Let us say we paid 100 EBP i.e, approximately 177 USD.
After the payment we get statement from Bank (in this case BAI format). In the bank statement due to exchange rate difference the amount will not be exactly 177 USD but slightly different like 185 USD or may be 170 USD.
At this point we have to upload this statement using transaction 'FF_5' to system. Here obviously the differential amount goes to the system ( 185 USD or 170 USD).
Now the issue is we have to post this difference amount like USD 8 or USD 7 to a specific GL account ( 11800 or any other GL acc number ).
The 'FF_5' transaction updates the tables 'FEBKO,FEBEP' by using the programs 'RFEBBU00',
'RFEBBU10'.There is an exit also like 'FEB00001'. We can put this difference amount in one of the fields of FEBEP table by using this exit.
But the point I don't know is how to post this difeerence amount 8 or 7 USD to a specific G/l account ? I could not locate in the above program 'RFEBBU00' where the posting happens ?
    Thanks for any help.
    Vinod.

    Hi Sharaad & Naga,
Thanks for the replies. One more doubt, Will I have to use these function modules inside the exit or do I need to change the sap standard program to incorporate these FM calls ?
    Thanks
    Vinod.

  • Thomson Treasura - replace with Electronic Bank Statement

    Hi All,
We are planning to implement EBS in our co and replace an external Software called Thomson treasura. I would like to know what sort of reports are availble through the EBS in SAP. Thomson treasura gives the ability to generate several reports, so I was just curious to know if we replace this with EBS, will we be able to get the desired reports.
    Thanks in advance
    Krishna

    Hi,
This link would provide the complete information about the setting up of EBS
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a97fa590-0201-0010-04ba-beed13d6cc7e?overridelayout=true

    http://srilogix.com/casesWhitepapers/Electronic%20Bank%20Statement.pdf
SAP has provided several reports for the EBS. the EBS report can be accessed through FF.6. As the data gets stored in at table level, there is an option to create custom specific reports as per the user requirements.

    Thanks for your time
    gerard

Hi Gerard, have you switched from using the built-in PDF viewer to the Adobe Acrobat viewer? This article has the steps for that if you haven't tried it, and also shows where you can confirm which ones is being used: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
When saving a PDF using the ''built-in viewer'', use the Download button on the toolbar above the PDF (looks like a downward pointing arrow). This may be more reliable than the Save Page As command.
When saving a PDF using the ''Adobe Acrobat viewer'', as you move the mouse pointer down the document, a floating toolbar should appear with a disk icon. (Or if you press the Esc key, a toolbar should appear above the document.) Use the disk icon on the Adobe Acrobat toolbar to save the document.

  • TR-EBS  SwiftMT940 mapping to an IDOC message FINSTA01 - Bank Statements

For Treasury, we are going to move to the PI platform. We are currently using EDI.
We start the process by requesting Citibank(GXS operations team) to put a sample file into the outbound mailbox to let our company pick up.  The output of the file will be XML.
We will them map and create an IDOC with the FINSTA message.
However, we are only beginning the IDOC mapping process.
Does anyone have a sample crosswalk which will allow us to see how the SwiftMT940 from Citibank can be mapped to an SAP Idoc?
If so, may we see how you mapped the segments?
Also, how do you test the loading of the IDOC created? with the RFEBKA00 program?
    Please advise.

    Hello,
I am really not sure how you map to IDOC.
But, the following information may be useful to you.
Hello, You can configure the electronic bank statement at the following path: IMG => Financial Accounting => Bank Accounting => Business Transactions => Payment Transactions => Electronic Bank Statement => Make Global Settings for Electronic Bank Statement. All the settings will be done at this path only. 1. Create Account Symbols 2. Assign Accounts to Account Symbols 3. Create keys for posting rules 4. Define posting rules 5. Create transaction type Assign external transaction types to posting rules 6. Assign bank accounts to transaction types. There are different programs to upload electronic bank statement. FF.5 or FF_5. I think your case Multicash format you are using. You need have three files in FF.5 and two files in FF_5 You can prepare a Z program in order to truncate the electronic bank statement into two or three part files and save them on the application server. 1. Take all the external codes list from bank. 2. Take any available documentation from the Bank describing the relevance of the external codes. 3. Make sure that your Chart of Accounts (Bank Accounts) last digits logic is appropriate to meet the requirements. 4. Based on this decide the Account Symbols that are required to be created. 5. Make sure that the masking rules are configured properly. 6. Decide the posting rules that needs to be created. 7. Link up your external symbols provided by the bank with Posting rules and give proper algorithms for posting and clearing logic. 6. Concentrate on the posting areas to be posted while uploading the bank statement. Further explanation would help you to understand the functionality when uploaded the electronic bank statement. Main purpose of uploading the bank statement into SAP is to make your Bank Main Account and physical bank statement balance in sync. You do not have any traditional Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS) report in SAP. SAP is normally you maintain bank main account and bank sub account. Whenever you make a payment through F-53 or F-58 or F110, the entry would be: Vendor Account Dr To Bank Sub Account The ending digits of the sub-account would be important in configuring the masking rule. Based on this masking rule when you upload the bank statement the entry the system would pass is: Bank Sub Account Dr To Bank Main Account It depends on the configuration, either the sub account will be cleared by the system automatically or you need to run F.13 to clear the sub accounts. At the time of receipts, you have different accounting entries unlike payments. It needs to post to two posting areas. 1. GL Accounting 2. Sub-Ledger Accounting The entries would system itself pass is: Bank Main Account Dr To Bank Sub Account Bank Sub Account Dr To Cutomer account. Clearing logic mentioned for your posting rules and the alogrithm used for your external bank symbols will also play pivotal role in clearing the accounts. Ideally you will use FF67 / FF.5 / FF_5 for uploading manual or electronic bank statement FEBA / FEBA_BANK_STATEMENT is used for furthe rprocessing. GO THROUGH SAP NOTE 48854 Please go through SAP Note. 48854. You will get an idea regarding the functionality of the algorithms. Though this note is in relevant to GB specific, you will find this very useful. description follows below regarding the normal procedure for maintaining table T028G. Due to the different bank codes and posting rules, pre-Customizing is not possible at this point. The following processing types are available - unless stated otherwise, you should use the interpretation algorithm: '000 - No interpretation' in each case. 1. '00': There is no processing. The entry line is ignored. 2. '01': A validation is made whether an entry exists for the transferred check number in the check table (PAYR). The check number and payment document number are transferred for further processing. Interpretation algorithm: outgoing check processing '011'-'013'; the update in the check file is via the interpretation algorithm. 3. '02': Transfer of the ending balance to the electronic bank statement 4. '03': Transfer of the opening balance to the electronic bank statement 5. '04': Clearing via the allocation number which is delivered with the bank statement. No interpretation algorithm. 6. '05': Clearing of BACS payments or BACS bank collection. The reference text field is first read to ascertain whether it involves payments initiated by users or bank collection via BACS. Providing it does involve a cash transaction initiated by the user, the payment document numbers concerned are determined via the reference number and transferred as a reference to further processing. Interpretation algorithm: '000 - No interpretation' or '019 - Reference number DME'. Note To differentiate between the two procedures in table T028G, you have to maintain two separate entries. Example: the bank uses bank code '62' for cash receipts and for BACS bank collection. Ext. Transaction +/- sign Posting rule Int. Algorithm Processing type 62 + GB62 001 5 62 SAPBACS + GB63 000 5 7. '06': Bank costs or interest revenues Recommended interpretation algorithm: '000 - No interpretation' 8. '07': Total amount of cash disbursements 9. '08': Total amount of cash receipts 10. '09': Items not paid Recommended interpretation algorithm: '000 - No interpretation' Regards, Ravi

  • Bank statement delete

    Hi,
if we delete bank statements usinf program RFEBKA96, which table does it gets deleted from..?
when i check FEBEP, I can see that documents are posted against this statement no.
so deleting bank statement, does it have any impacts on documents posted ..?
Also if we run RFEBKA00 (FF.5) , which tables gets loaded and what exactly gets processed..?
    thanks
    Neha

    Hi Neha,
It delete the bank statement and don't do any thing with the posting that where created with that bank statement!
Only when you are know for 100% that there are no posting you can use this program. Other wise you have to complete them manual.
Normal you use the deletion program only in the development system when you are doing tests

  • Bank statement for Irish AIB bank

    Hello,
Does anybody have experience with uploading bank statement in AIB bank. They have such a strange format what does not looks like any SAP supported format. Is similar to BAI with labels in the first columns but the contant is different.
    Regards,

Its better you clarify with them if their format conforms to any standard international formats.  That is the easiest way to proceed.  This is because most banks support more than one format but normally hand out a format of their choice to customers.  They tell about other formats only when customer enquires them.
If they confirm that they do not follow any international format, you can write your own routines for interpretation.
    Ravi.

  • Incorrect GL account manual bank statement ff67

    Dear all gurys,
I have the following problem: I have never work with manual bank statement before. I am a consultant and my customer wants to change the GL account seen on the screen when doing manual bank statement. I enter the bank accont number end press ENTER. In the field GL account I see account 1931, but I want the GL account to be 1930. How do I configure that change?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi:
In FF67 bank account  GL  is picked from the Account ID you give in, which is assigned in FS00 to it and is configured in FI12 for your house bank. I do not have access to SAP right now but i do not think you can do the change while executing FF67.. After posting one clearing accounts gets debit or credit and main bank account as maintained in FI12 for your account ID and House bank gets updated accordingly. However if they want to change the clearing account then they can do that in FEBAN...select the red item which means they need to be posted and could not be posted through FF67 and right click it...post item..it will take you to new screen where the default clearing account belonging to the House bank and account will appear , there you have the option to change it...Main Bank GL account to which clearing accounts gets posted as soon as BRS is executed can not be changed in FF67. Hope this will help you.

  • Manual Bank statement-batch input session

    Hi experts,
I have done manual bank statement settings and tried entries in Dev server.
Once i post the entries from FF67, I was able to see a session created in SM35.
Once we started using the Prd Server the batch input session is not getting created automatically.
I have checked the Specifications settings where I have already mentioned further processing as a batch in the baground (generate as batch). The Prd server is accessed through VPN.
Once I posted the statement in FF67 in Prd Server, I am not able to see any session created in SM35.
Please help me in resolving this problem.Does it needs any BASIS settings or any thing else?
Points will be awarder for the best.

Thanks for your replies my friends,
Let me clarify few more things..There is no problem with Manual bank statement configuration.
The server is not with the client at the moment. Client is accessing the Prd Server through VPN access.
In the initial screen of FF67, while chosing the Varinat for manual bank statement I have mentioned Run as a Batch in the back ground which is option number 2.
After doing all entries in manual bank statement, the client has saved it and posted. The status in overview says Manually entered only.
But on the next day when I went to my workplace (where Prd server is physically present) I accessed the same posting of the statement and it was successful. A batch got created and the next day I went to clients place and made them process the batch. Again they posted another statement and the again the same problem. (no batch got generated).
Now I feel that  the option 2 I have opted (gerate as a batch in the back ground) could be the problem.
Coz the client accessed the server through VPN and was unsucessful in creating batch & I accessed the server through LAN in the office and was successful in generating a batch. Now I am confused whether to change the option 2 to Option 1 which is  gerate as a batch-generate online. Please advice me regarding this. Coz I dont want to take risk of changing it without confirmation.
    Thanks

  • Bank Statements (in-house cash)

    Hi,
I have some problems with displaying bank statements I have manually entered.
These are the steps I take to input a bank statement into the system:
    1. I use transaction FF67 to manually enter a bank statement.
    2. I post the statement
    3. I use transaction FF_6 to display the statements I have posted.
While doing the last step the following is displayed: List contains no data
This is quite impossible because I just posted a bank statement.
What is the cause of this problem? (I already tried SM35 and even after processing I still get the same message while displaying the bank statements)

    Hi M. Naveen Kumar,
This behavior could be caused by a bug identified and correct by SAP Note 1561448. You can implement it in your system and perform a new test. After applying it, non-Geman countries, as NL, should work as expected and the idoc should go through.
    Kind Regards,
    Carolina
