Record/Field Audit - however field on page is DERIVED record

Hi,
We are on HCM/Campus Solutions 9.0, running PT 8.49.08.
We had a record/field audit in 8.0 on PERSONAL_DATA.VA_BENEFIT. Once we upgraded to 9, we lost that audit because PERSONAL_DATA was no longer used in the same fashion.
We tried to put a record/field audit on PERSON_SA.VA_BENEFIT; this is not capturing the changes.
I looked at one of the Bio Demo pages (Campus Community, Personal Information, Add/Update a Person) where VA_BENEFIT can be updated.
The page is SCC_PERS_USA_SBP, the field is actually DERIVED_PERDATA.VA_BENEFIT. I tried adding a Field Audit on this record/field combination, but this doesn’t work.
Has anyone audited a record/fields that the online pages references a different record, like a DERIVED work record, that is different from the real peoplesoft table where the data is stored?
Is there a way that I can track changes to this field?
Thanks
Pam

Pam,
Auditing will only work on Table type record definitions. I'm not sure why it isn't working on the PERSON_SA table, but there are definitely some limitations to the record/field auditing capabilities. You will probably have to use Database Level Auditing, which is documented in the Data Management peoplebook.

  • How to display multiple records in smart forms in new page for each record

    Hi,
How to display the data from a internal table in a smart form.
I want each record to be displayed in seperate page.
    please tell me with example.
    thank u,
    Sarath

    Do this ,
in the main window - open a loop on your internal table ,
within the loop open the text and give the output fields,
after this text  use the Command node and in this set the next page as page1,
so when the loop gets executed its first record will be on the first page and the second record will be on the next page and so on ..

  • Field Symbols, Field String, and Field Group.

    Hi,
Can you differentiate between filed symbols, field strings and field groups,
    With regards,
    Bharath Mohan B

    Hi,
    Field Symbols
Field symbols are placeholders or symbolic names for other fields. They do not physically reserve space for a field, but point to its contents. A field symbol cam point to any data object. The data object to which a field symbol points is assigned to it after it has been declared in the program.
Whenever you address a field symbol in a program, you are addressing the field that is assigned to the field symbol. After successful assignment, there is no difference in ABAP whether you reference the field symbol or the field itself. You must assign a field to each field symbol before you can address the latter in programs.
Field symbols are similar to dereferenced pointers in C (that is, pointers to which the content operator * is applied). However, the only real equivalent of pointers in ABAP, that is, variables that contain a memory address (reference) and that can be used without the contents operator, are reference variables in ABAP Objects.
All operations programmed with field symbols are applied to the field assigned to it. For example, a MOVE statement between two field symbols moves the contents of the field assigned to the first field symbol to the field assigned to the second field symbol. The field symbols themselves point to the same fields after the MOVE statement as they did before.
You can create field symbols either without or with type specifications. If you do not specify a type, the field symbol inherits all of the technical attributes of the field assigned to it. If you do specify a type, the system checks the compatibility of the field symbol and the field you are assigning to it during the ASSIGN statement.
Field symbols provide greater flexibility when you address data objects:
If you want to process sections of fields, you can specify the offset and length of the field dynamically.
You can assign one field symbol to another, which allows you to address parts of fields.
Assignments to field symbols may extend beyond field boundaries. This allows you to address regular sequences of fields in memory efficiently.
You can also force a field symbol to take different technical attributes from those of the field assigned to it.
The flexibility of field symbols provides elegant solutions to certain problems. On the other hand, it does mean that errors can easily occur. Since fields are not assigned to field symbols until runtime, the effectiveness of syntax and security checks is very limited for operations involving field symbols. This can lead to runtime errors or incorrect data assignments.
While runtime errors indicate an obvious problem, incorrect data assignments are dangerous because they can be very difficult to detect. For this reason, you should only use field symbols if you cannot achieve the same result using other ABAP statements.
For example, you may want to process part of a string where the offset and length depend on the contents of the field. You could use field symbols in this case. However, since the MOVE statement also supports variable offset and length specifications, you should use it instead. The MOVE statement (with your own auxiliary variables if required) is much safer than using field symbols, since it cannot address memory beyond the boundary of a field. However, field symbols may improve performance in some cases.

The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Cannot Use Untyped Field Symbols ad Cannot Use Field Symbols as Components of Classes.
    Effect
This statement declares a symbolic field called <fs>. At runtime, you can assign a concrete field to the field symbol using ASSIGN. All operations performed with the field symbol then directly affect the field assigned to it.
You can only use one of the additions.
    Example
Output aircraft type from the table SFLIGHT using a field symbol:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <PT> TYPE ANY.
    DATA SFLIGHT_WA TYPE SFLIGHT.
    ASSIGN SFLIGHT_WA-PLANETYPE TO <PT>.

    Addition 6
    ... LIKE LINE OF s
    Addition 7
    ... TYPE tabkind
    Effect
You can define the type of the field symbol using additions 2 to 7 (just as you can for FORM parameters (compare Defining the Type of Subroutine Parameters). When you use the ASSIGN statement, the system carries out the same type checks as for USING parameters of FORMs.
This addition is not allowed in an ABAP Objects context. See Cannot Use Obsolete Casting for FIELD SYMBOLS.
In some cases, the syntax rules that apply to Unicode programs are different than those for non-Unicode programs. See Defining Types Using STRUCTURE.
    Effect
Assigns any (internal) field string or structure to the field symbol from the ABAP Dictionary (s). All fields of the structure can be addressed by name: <fs>-fieldname. The structured field symbol points initially to the work area wa specified after DEFAULT.
The work area wa must be at least as long as the structure s. If s contains fields of the type I or F, wa should have the structure s or at least begin in that way, since otherwise alignment problems may occur.
    Example
Address components of the flight bookings table SBOOK using a field symbol:
    DATA SBOOK_WA LIKE SBOOK.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <SB> STRUCTURE SBOOK
    DEFAULT SBOOK_WA.
    WRITE: <SB>-BOOKID, <SB>-FLDATE.

  • How to access dynamic fields in a field symbol

    hi
how do i access the dynamic fields created in side a field-symbol....
wht i mean is i have a table, whose workarea i assign to field symbol. but this table is runtime, altough i have debugged and found the values in this table, I want to accees the field symbol in a generic way.
say the table has 3 fields now fld1 fld2 and fld3 so i want to access the field symbol <fs> as <fs>-(name) where name can be anything fld1 or fld2 whichever i assign....
thanks. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Field symbols are placeholders or symbolic names for other fields. They do not physically reserve space for a field, but point to its contents. A field symbol cam point to any data object. The data object to which a field symbol points is assigned to it after it has been declared in the program.

After successful assignment, there is no difference in ABAP whether you reference the field symbol or the field itself. You must assign a field to a field symbol before you can address it in a program.
Field symbols are similar to de-referenced pointers in the C programming language (that is, pointers to which the content operator * is applied). In ABAP, data references represent a real equivalent to pointers in the sense of variables that contain a memory address and can be used without the contents operator.
All operations programmed with field symbols are applied to the field assigned to it. A MOVE statement between two field symbols, for example, assigns the contents of the field assigned to another source field symbol to the field assigned to the target field symbol. The field symbols themselves point to the same fields after the MOVE statement as they did before the MOVEstatement.
You can create field symbols either without or with type specifications. If you do not specify a type, the field symbol inherits all of the technical attributes of the field assigned to it. If you do specify a type, the system checks during the field assignment whether the assigned field matches the type of field symbol.
Field symbols provide greater flexibility when you address data objects:
    ·        You can assign one field symbol to another, which allows you to address subfields.
    ·        Assignments to field symbols may extend beyond field boundaries. This allows you to address regular sequences of fields in memory efficiently.
    ·        You can also force a field symbol to take different technical properties than those of the field assigned to it (casting).

To declare a field symbol, use the statement

For field symbols, the angle brackets are part of the syntax. They identify field symbols in the program code.

  • When to reset fields in a custom insert page?

    Hi
In Apex 3 I have a page with fields to insert a new record. The first time the page is loaded (clicking a button in another page) I reset all the fields using a Before Header process (so the user doesn't see the previously entered data). The user can then insert data in the fields and click the "Add record" button.
Using conditional branches, on submit I control if the page branches to the calling page or to itself, depending on the success of the operation.
The problem is that, if the operation fails, when the page reloads all the data the user entered is cleared, instead of remaining there to be corrected!
This must be something stupidly basic but I have no idea how to handle it. What is the standard/recommended way to achieve this? Any suggestions will be welcome!
    Thanks
    Luis

    Hi Denes
Yes, the setting is "Only when current value in session state is null".
However, none of both available options for that property is what I need. When the user navigates to that page from another page I want the items to be reset. However, if the page reloads because the processing failed (i.e. the page branches to itself), I want the items to keep their previous values so the user may correct them.
To solve it, I created a page variable called "reset" that indicates that the page variables must be reset and should be set to Y by the calling page. I set it to N in a Before Header process so if the page reloads the variables will not be reset.
But I am not sure if this is the correct way to implement this or if there is a simpler way, because I am sure this must be something very common and trivial for web applications (to which I am quite new).
    Thanks
    Luis

  • Copy a record with URL - Address Fields

    Hi All,
Is it possible when using a weblink to copy a record to copy the address fields also? I'm copying a contact record and my URL is as follows:
    https://secure-ausomx###.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/DefContactInsert?
    OMTGT=ContactEditForm&OMTHD=ContactNewNav&OMRET0=ContactHomePage&OCTYPE=&ContactEditForm.Primary Account Name=%%%Primary_Account_Name%%%&ContactEditForm.Account Id=%%%Account_Id%%%&ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal Country=%%%Personal_COUNTRY_Country%%%
This works and the contact country copies as expected. However when I try and add the other contact address fields which I believe are as follows it wont copy:
    ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal Street Address
    ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal Street Address 2
    ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal Street Address 3
    ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal City
    ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal County
    ContactEditForm.Parent Alternate Address.Personal State
    ContactEditForm.Parent Primary Address.Primary Province
    %%%Personal_ADDR_Address1%%%
    %%%Personal_ADDR2_Address2%%%
    %%%Personal_ADDR3_Address3%%%
    %%%Personal_CITY_City%%%
    %%%PERSONAL_LIST_COUNTY%%%
    %%%PERSONAL_LIST_USSTATE%%%
    %%%Personal_PROVINCE_Province%%%
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks Venky,
We've been playing and this is possible, for example... In this scenario the user is on the Account Record and they wish to create a Contact for this account. The account and it's corresponding address details should be populated through into the new record, this will include the contact address and account address. You need to ensure the weblink is setup to open in the current window:
    javascript:openQuickCreatePopup('https://secure-ausomxdsa.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/ContactQuickCreate?OMTHD=New&OMTGT=PopupNewForm&OCTYPE=&ophpd=2&OMCR0=%%%Row_Id%%%&OMCBO=Account&OCPRF=AlternateCountry:%%%Ship_To_COUNTRY_Country%%%|AlternateAddress1:%%%Ship_To_ADDR_Address1%%%|AlternateAddress2:%%%Ship_To_ADDR2_Address2%%%|AlternateAddress3:%%%Ship_To_ADDR3_Address3%%%|AlternateCity:%%%Ship_To_CITY_City%%%|AlternateZipCode:%%%SHIP_LIST_ZIP%%%|AlternateCounty:%%%SHIP_LIST_COUNTY%%%|AlternateStateProvince:%%%SHIP_LIST_USSTATE%%%|AlternateProvince:%%%Ship_To_PROVINCE_Province%%%',0,0)
The field names "AlternateCountry" etc come from the WSDL, the destination field names come from the HTML page source. Give it a try.. I will get around to documenting this as I have seen many different techniques and documents based on copying records, this seems to be the better of them all though.

How To Print Field Value in TOP-OF-PAGE During Line Selection when double click on field.

(If my memory serves me well (not used for long time ago)
Assign values to system fields sy-tvar0 - sy-tvar9, they will replace the placeholders "&0" through "&9" in the list headers and column headers.

  • Vendor Master Record: Tax Number 1 Field

    Hi Everyone,
For some reason, when you enter XK01 or XK02 for creation or change of vendor master record, Tax Number 1 within the Control Tab is visible and able to be input.  However, when displaying the vendor master record through XK03, the field is not visible.  Reviewing the field options for vendor master record did not reveal anything to me.  Any ideas why?
    Thanks,
    Pete

  • Adding Fields to People Search Results Page

    Hi
Working in SharePoint Online, I've been able to add a few fields to the People Search results page successfully:
    Organization
    Office Locator
    Office Location
    Work Phone
    Mobile Phone
    Home Phone
    Work Email
All of the above fields are working and display on the People search results page.
I tried to add these and they simply do not display.  There is no error:
    University Email
    Assistant
    Calendar/Scheduling
I set them up the same way.  I created the Property in the User Profile area.  I then populated the data for each user.  I then added the property as a Managed property (search schema) linked to the Crawled property from the People category.
Made sure that they were query able, retrievable, searchable, etc.  Then I edited the People Search code and then I waited over the weekend for the search to pick them up.  I came into work this morning and they still do not display.  Here is
my code, just in case I missed something.  Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about adding fields in people search results page.
Per my knowledge, there is no issue in your steps, and the issue may be related to the search crawl in SharePoint online.
For SharePoint server on-premise, we can start the search full crawl, however, for SharePoint online, we could not start the search full crawl manually.
You can wait for some time to complete the search full crawl in SharePoint online, then check whether it works.
As this is the forum for SharePoint server on-premise, I’m not familiar with the SharePoint online search crawl, for this issue, I recommend you can post a new question in the forum for Office 365/SharePoint online.
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/154.aspx
More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SharePoint Online.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Field descriptions not showing in page layout

I have custom content types with custom fields. The field types vary - text, image, user and so forth. I am building an intranet so this is a publishing site with workflow and I am using custom page layouts with a custom master page.
The issue I have is that the field controls, whilst all having descriptions, rarely show the description in the custom page layout. They are all shown correctly in EditForm.aspx so I know that they are there. However when editing a page using a custom page
layout it seems that only UserField types show the description. Below is an extract from a page layout:
    <SharePointWebControls:UserField FieldName="ContentOwner" runat="server"></SharePointWebControls:UserField>
    <SharePointWebControls:TextField FieldName="ContentOwnerRemark" runat="server"></SharePointWebControls:TextField>
The first field ContentOwner shows the field description. The second does not. I have tried deleting and re-adding, making fields mandatory and optional, but to no avail. If it's not a UserField it doesn't show the description.

Showing names of Site Columns on a Page Layout
Thanks. That allows me to do this:
    <SharePointWebControls:FieldProperty FieldName="ContentOwnerRemark" PropertyName="Description" runat="server" />
However the original question is why is it that the OOTB control only displays the description for UserField and not for other types of field in a custom page layout, whereas it shows all descriptions in EditForm.aspx. I could do what you have suggested but
it's a lot of work as I have many fields and custom page layouts, and it seems to me that having the OOTB field control on the page should display the description for all field types not just user field types.

  • Databse of 1888 Byte Per Record with 259 Fixed Fields Stumped CR?!?

My Database of  15 million records/rows at 1888 Byte Per Record with 259 Fixed Fields STUMPED CR?!
    Executive Summary :
I have lots of data. There are 15 million of records in some of my database files. But I need to drill into the data and get counts for each field.
I need to know how many times each data field (row) is populated in a database file. For example,  how many of my records have last name? how many have first name? date of birth? etc.  I need a simple report made using SAP "Crystal Reports 2011" Workstation type edition that SUMS each data  row into a single column output like csv.
My database sizes can range from 1,000 to 18 million records that are in fixed field asci format with 1888 bytes and 256 rows per record!  The report  needs to SUM each data field or, in the case of a data field with a minimum of twelve tables, SUM each value of a table.
My contracted CR programmer is an expert although she was new to data files this humongous. Can anyone here help us get CR to work on my data? Here was her conclusion, Crystal Reports Fail:
My file is 14.1 gb  as well. However, when run through Crystal Reports, it
only returns 2,274,876 records. Therefore, I am going to assume that there
is a Record Limit for Text files of this. I searched through all the
registry settings and there is nothing that appears to be limiting it. I
went online for a while to see if there was any information on it, and just
like when I used to work there, there was nothing concrete. Business Objects
does not physically test this large of data retrieval, therefore they don't
    know the exact record limits.
I'm not sure what to suggest, but I don't think Crystal Reports is going to
work for you and I wouldn't have known that from the beginning without
testing your data. I'm 99% sure there is a refund policy on the software, so
you shouldn't have any issues returning it.
Since I only specialize in Crystal Reports, I'm not sure what other software
can handle this amount of data. Possibly Cognos, but you may want to find
out from them or do some research.
If your data were in a database that can run stored procedures (like SQL
Server or Oracle) then you could write SQL to only return the counts. Then
when Crystal connected to the stored procedure, it should work, but I can't
say for sure without testing it. And I don't have SQL Server or Oracle
installed on my machine. I believe MYSQL (the free version) has a limit to
the number of records it can hold and I'm sure 8 million would be over the
limit. Also, I'm not sure if it supports stored procedures. I have used it
once before and found it extremely cumbersome and limited. I think SQL
Server and Oracle are quite pricey, so I don't think that this will even be
    an option for you.

    Hi Shawn,
I actually contacted the same person you did also. Summer was a Report Designer Resource here and knows her stuff and the Report Designer as much as our Developer who wrote it do.
As I suggested in my first reply is to get all that data into a real database, one that can run Stored Procedures to do all the crunching unfortunately is the only way I can see this ever working.
Windows 7 and 8 CPU's doesn't help, 64 bit may but the problem is CR Designer is a 32 bit application so it can't take advantage of the 64 bit memory addressing space.
What you could so is post your question to the forum:
    [Business Decision Making with BI|Marketing Library;
This is a forum for managers or anyone who wants to have a non-technical discussion about making informed decisions with analytics tools. Ask questions and share your experiences on how to effectively utilize data to address real business problems. Experts from inside and outside SAP will be monitoring these conversations and offering their knowledge along with the broader community.
Someone in there may have another SAP product that might be able to load your flat file into a data tool that CR can report off of.
I still think a copy of MS SQL 2008 Express is your best and likely cheapest solution and then you can simply import the data into it which it has an Import Wizard that makes it relatively easy to do... Although you may have to break your file into pieces for it to be able to process also.
You need to be flexible on that data source, I doubt you'll find anything that can report off of that huge of text file.
    Good luck
    Don

  • Getting a field from a derived record

I have been asked to put a value on a page that seems to be part of a PS-supplied derived record in Campus Solutions, derived_cs. My understanding is that derived records are built on the fly. I can see in App Designer what table is used for a prompt for the field I care about but since the field is part of a derived record, I don't see anything in the PeopleCode for the field for where its value gets written to. How do I figure out where the values entered on a page in fields of a derived record go? I need to get the real value. I don't want to try to reconstruct the derived record in my custom app. Thanks.
    Ken

Derived/work records allow you to display the values of variables on pages. As you noted, they don't have database compliments. In other words, Derived/Work record field values are not persisted. This makes it difficult to determine where the values come from and, if they are data entry fields, where the values go. The movement of the data to and from a Derived/Work record is all done in PeopleCode. To find where the values come from, I usually start with an SQL trace level of 7. You can also use an SQL trace to determine where the values go. The nice thing about Derived/Work values that are persisted is that you will see values in the SQL insert bind variables. Unfortunately, when reading data from the database, you only see bind variables, you don't see the values that were selected. This makes finding where data comes from very difficult.
