Field descriptions not showing in page layout

I have custom content types with custom fields. The field types vary - text, image, user and so forth. I am building an intranet so this is a publishing site with workflow and I am using custom page layouts with a custom master page.
The issue I have is that the field controls, whilst all having descriptions, rarely show the description in the custom page layout. They are all shown correctly in EditForm.aspx so I know that they are there. However when editing a page using a custom page
layout it seems that only UserField types show the description. Below is an extract from a page layout:

The first field ContentOwner shows the field description. The second does not. I have tried deleting and re-adding, making fields mandatory and optional, but to no avail. If it's not a UserField it doesn't show the description.

However the original question is why is it that the OOTB control only displays the description for UserField and not for other types of field in a custom page layout, whereas it shows all descriptions in EditForm.aspx. I could do what you have suggested but
it's a lot of work as I have many fields and custom page layouts, and it seems to me that having the OOTB field control on the page should display the description for all field types not just user field types.

That's the robots.txt file telling search engine spiders "you can spider everything here EXCEPT the /cgi-bin folder". It has nothing to do with site description.

Additional fields not showing in FS10N layout

Hi ,
1) appended new fields into RFPOS and RFPOSX structures and run the program RFPOSXEXTEND
2) created BTE to get values for additional fields added
it was fine working in DEV , once it move to QAS additional fields are not showing in the FS10N layout
same steps are processed as in QAS as i din in DEV, sturcture as got fields and BTE is fine
Why the additional fields are not showing up ...

How come i would be posting here without checking the layout , new fields are not in the layout even though it shows in the structure RPOSXEXT.
FS10N layout - added new fields in dev using structure and run the program to extend the structure , new fields and data show in DEV , same process i did but it doesnt show in QAS .
Would be any configuration issue or any other i need to check ....

Will not show web page on windows high contrast

Hi,
Am running Windows 7 64bit
my problem is as follows.
I normally run Windows in high contrast mode and would prefer all web sites to be on the dark side.
Occasionally I need to be able to see a web page as its designers intended it to be.
So I want to have the text white and background black and then the ability to toggle between that and the web page's own colour scheme.
Thought I'd found exactly what I needed in the add-on "Toggle Document Colors 1.0"
Am presuming it toggles the status of the "Allow pages to choose their own colours..." tick box.
This setting seems to get lost when FF closes. Even if I set the tick box myself and then close FF it is gone when I reopen FF.
If the box is ticked and a page refreshed it still does not show web page colours ?
Without any addons at all after a reset and only using the colours dialog I cannot get it to behave.
If you start in Windows white mode (normal) things are better even after FF close. Change to Windows black mode (high contrast) things start off ok then after you close FF it will not work
If there is a solution I would love to know it.
Will settle for a workaround.
Considered using old version of FF, but this is not really a good idea.
Really don't want to go back to IE

iTunes does not yet support Windows 8, so there may not be a fix until such time as Apple releases a version of iTunes that does support 8. You can search this forum for "windows 8", though, and perhaps you'll find a suggestion in one of the other threads on the issue.

first activate your database table .
if any error occurs better you go to
se14(database utility) -
>give table name in object and select the table check box and click the edit push button.
and then click activate and adjust pushbutton.
surely you ll get some idea.

Not showing web pages

Firefox is not showing any page; all the content is in absolute white; the source code is the same. The Antivirus and the spyware is not detecting any issue in the machine. The others browsers are working normally. I tried to unnistall the software, reinstall, update and nothings solve the problem.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Dont use the quantity field same as that it come from interface Fm declare one field for quantity in the global settings and write the logic to pass the value to that field and pass that global value to the particular texts...same is the case with currency fields also.

Narrative is not showing up in Layout View

Narrative is not showing up in layout view when I'm creating a custom report. In Step 2, Creating Layout. I am hovering over add view, then down to advanced. Narrative is not showing up. How do I get this to work??? Static text and Legend is not showing either.

You need to have the privilege Analytics Scripting in step 4 for the narrative report to work. Only then would you HTML and javascript you apply on the Narrative report would show up.
Please update if this works or not.

New field will not show in the Datasource

Hello Experts,
I enhanced a datasource by adding a new field in the append structure and when I saved and activated and when into RSA5 or RSA6 then double clicked on the datasource my ZZ field does not show at the end. Anyone know why this is?

Once you have appended the structure .
In RSA6 you need to go to the purticular datasource (In change Mode) and need to uncheck the option *HIDE field for the field you have appended .
After you Uncheck that field save and exit.

Input Screen fields are not showing the description

I have copied a program, generated using SQVI, to a Zprogram, say Ztest, and when I execute this Ztest the description of the fields on selection screen are coming as SP$00001, SP$00002 and so on.
however if I execute the query made using SQVI the field description are the field descriptions.
Can anybody help me resolve this, to show the field description in ZTest also.

Hi khanna_rahul,
since quite a long time (10+ years) I do not use SE38 any longer - partly to avoid such errors as you are confronting now. In SE80 object tree, right mouse click on report, copy, in the popup mark everything, give new name(s) and that was it.
For you it will be easier to just copy and paste between two sessions of report texts. Don't worry, system will ask for transport.

Field Descriptions without TOP OF PAGE

Hi Experts,
I have one Z report and this was written somebody long back.
This report was normal standard report i.e just writing the table values to screen using WRITE statement.
Eventhogh there is no TOP OF PAGE event in the report, field names were displaying in the screen output with highlighted color.
As soon as WITE statement calling, program is displaying fieldnames automatically? how it possible?
Now, I modified my program by adding another field values to the screen output.
The field which I added it's not showing field name.
How can I display my field description to that output. (without adding TOP OF PAGE)
As I told you report doesn't have TOP OF PAGE event. Please help me.

Raghu,
I'm guessing that your report is organized in a tabular form and by field description you mean column headings. There are two ways to display column headings 1) by explicitely writing the WRITE statements to output to the column headings, 2) by maintaining the standard list & column headings. (in ABAP editor follow menu path GOTO>Text Elements>List Headings.
You can disable the display of standard headings by using addition in NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING as below.
REPORT YTEST NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING
              LINE-SIZE 120
              LINE-COUNT 65
              MESSAGE ZMSG.

Field in Field Catalog Not Showing

Hi,
I have added one field in the copied function module 'zzFI_DOCUMENT_LIST_DISPLAY'.
The field 'Cost center description' is there in the field catalog as well as the internal table.
But it does not show up in the alv columns on output.

All photos in album not showing in page view

i read in one of the iweb support pages that you can only add 99 photos per album...however, i have an album that has 155 photos. so i thought, what the heck? keep loading them if it'll take it.
however, in the page layout, not all 155 photos are showing up even though they extend to a second page. if you watch the slideshow of the photos, you do see all 155 of the pics.
is there a setting i should be using to make all 155 photos viewable on the page layout?
