Record keyboard strokes and apply actions across Premiere sequence?

Hello!
I have a laborious task that needs to be completed thousands of times. To get around this torture, I would like to try recording my keyboard strokes and then apply the actions to other clips and projects. There are many automation applications out there but has anyone found something they would recommend to use within Premiere? Perhaps this already exists? The function is available inside Photoshop and AE is strong with macro scripts too - If it isn't inside PP I'll do a feature request.
Please let me know if I am missing the obvious or if you have any suggestions...
Thanks all

Some of the gaming mice let you record macros to their multiple keys, I use a Contour Shuttle that does the same.

  • How can i create a text template, or apply styles across a sequence

    I am making an instructional video with a lot of text overlaying my video.  Is there a way to create a set of text styles that I apply to all text in the sequence (i am thinking font, shadow, and size, alignment).  Sort of how you make a video filter...

    There are a few ways to do this.  One would be to create a text generator clip with the style you want, then just copy that and paste it where needed ... then alter the text in the new copy.
    But I'd recommend using the Boris Title 3D text generator that came bundled with FCE.  It allows you to save styles that can be loaded at any time.

  • How do I copy frame width & height and apply to all other frames in Indesign CS5?

    I design albums using lots of photos. I often find myself copying a particular frame's width and height then pasting it individually across other frames. Is there a way to copy and paste a frames width and height and apply it across numerous frames? I'm not changing the content dimensions (photo) just the frame dimensions.
    Thanks in advance for all your time and understanding. It's much much appreciated.

    This would be a good question for the InDesign forum.

  • How to apply different keyboard shortcuts to an actions with the same name but in different menus within one application?

    Hi,
    Hopefully someone can help. I have the application "djay" and in two different menus there is the action "Eject". I was wondering if it's possible to apply different keyboard shortcuts to those actions with the same name? I can't see how to do it as it seems you can only write the action but as there are two it doesn't seem to work for me.
    For example:
    djay>Table-1>Eject - ⌘⇧1
    djay>Table-2>Eject - ⌘⇧0
    Thanks in advance for any help!!

    A NodeList doesn't only contain 1 element. In your example it contains ALL <Data> elements inside the document.
    NodeList nodes = document.getElementsByTagName("Data");
    System.out.println(nodes.getLength() + " \"Data\"-elements found");
    for(int i=0; i<nodes.getLength(); i++) {
       Node node = nodes.item(i);
    }

  • Moving selected objects up and down with keyboard is automaticly applying a colour fill.

    Hi,
    My InDesign is strangely applying a colour fill when i move an objects up or down using the directional arrow in my keyboard. If the colour pallet is open. Nudging an object up makes the pallet disappear on the first press. It then reappears on the second press while filling the object (text frame) with black. This is instensly frustrating. How can I stop this? Suggestions would be very appreciated.
    I have already reset the preferences.
    Cheers,

    Thanks for your reply.
    I fixed the problem by replacing the keyboard!

    I have to ask if you reset the prefs uing one of the methods in this thread: Replace Your Preferences If not, there's a good chance you left out one of the files, so please try again using one of the listed methods. And please tell us the OS and your version of ID, including the patch level. Obviously this is not normal behavior. It sounds as if the Swatches panel has focus when you are pressing the arrow keys.

  • Deliverable Actions - Save and Apply buttons.

    Hi,
    Is there a difference in the functionality between the Save and Apply buttons on the Project Super User "Update Deliverable Actions" html screen, in regards to what information gets saved and where?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    We are using elements of Project Management in conjunction with Project Billing and as I understand it when a deliverable action is created, of type billing, a billing event is created in the PA_EVENTS table or at least that I believe is what I'm seeing.
    During the creation of the deliverable action if the action is flagged as completed and saved via the Save button the event details are created in the PA_EVENTS table MINUS the completion date that was entered.
    For the completion date to be saved in the PA_EVENTS table it appears the Apply button needs clicked.
    Was just wondering if anyone else has come across this or if anyone is aware if this is designed functionality?
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Find a window in XMonad and apply some actions to it

    Hi everyone, I think this should be really easy for someone who's good at Haskell but I just couldn't figure it out as I'm bad at it.
    Basically I want to search through the list of windows in the current workspace, find one matching some condition and apply some action to it; if not found then create this window.
    I had a skeleton code like this
    import qualified XMonad.StackSet as W
    import XMonad.Actions.WindowGo
    findWindow condition actionIfFound actionIfNotFound =
    ifWindow (condition <&&> member W.current) windowFound actionIfNotFound
    where windowFound = ask >>= w -> do actionIfFound w

  • Having problems finding and importing actions I recorded in CS5 :(

    Hi. I've recently upgraded from CS5 to CC but I'm now having problems finding and importing actions that I previously had recorded in CS5. Where do I need to look to locate these actions, as they are still in CS5 when I open it.

    You export them using the flyout menu in the top right corner of the actions palette. Conversely, you load them the same way in the new version.

  • Error message after recording and running Action In PS CS3

    I have recorded an action to create a transparent image on a batch of photos. Next I ran the image processor using the File/Scripts/image processor. When running the action the error message occurs no matter how many ways I attempt to modify the action. Error: The object "Style "Shape Style"" is not currently available.
    I then look in the action window to check and under the steps Make Fill Layer: Style: Shape, Style 1 appears but I can't delete it.
    This one error message makes it impossible for me to image process a batch of photos with a watermark on them.
    Thank You In Advance for your Help.

    can you save them into a new action set then save that?
    ex. create a new set, icon bottom of action palette, then create a new action in that set, then save that set via the flyout menu in the action palette and save action set
    what i'm getting at is maybe you have the action palette file locked.
    the main file is called "Actions Palette.psp" and lives in: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings
    make sure you have full access to that folder.
    another thing to maybe try... copy out that whole folder to a new location. then delete everything in it. then restart photoshop. then try to save the action again. at worst you can always copy the old files back in, at best, you'll clear out a disturbing error...

  • Can existing images be opened in AI and "strokes" & "paths" applied to images?

    An animator conferred with a client who asked that I create 20 custom cartoons for a project. The animator asked if I can illustrate using Adobe Illustrator using "strokes" and "paths". I assume I can apply strokes and paths to existing single panel black & white images that I open using AI, correct?

    Bob,
    What you need to understand is this:
    Autotracing is a cheap trick; a down & dirty workaround; a last resort. It is a sub-standard practice.
    All autotracing does is try to detect edges between regions of differently colored pixels and then draw a path around the regions of contiguous same or similar color.
    Yes, you can run an autotrace routine on an imported raster image. That's what the feature is for. But you could train a monkey to do that. There will be no object-based inteligence in the process, and the result will quite likely be entirely unsuitable for animation purposes. For example:
    Consider your sketch of an old guy waving at Monika. Now, if you were going to animate that, what would be the most obvious piece of animation? You'd want to make the hand wave, right?
    Well, in the autotraced result, that hand or forearm will not automatically be a separate object, as it needs to be in order to make that it move independent of the body.
    That's just one very simple example. Your sketches are going to involve many many such instances. It's not just a matter of drawing any old paths around black regions of pixels, so long as they're vector. It's about thinking through what actually needs to be done with the vector graphic, and building it in such a way as to facilitate that.
    There is no instant-gratification trick or one-click feature that is going to make a scan of a marker drawing into a properly useable vector-based graphic. It's just like anything else; you don't get something for nothing. Sorry, but you just can't go too far saying "I draw with markers on paper, and can't be bothered with having to do anything technical." If you want to provide proper vector-based drawings, you need to learn how to do it right. Otherwise, you're going to just be doing the concept art and people who do know how to turn it into something useable will have to re-create it.
    If you're in such demand that you've got the steady work to proceed with that kind of head-in-the-sand mindset, more power to you. But it doesn't sound like it.
    The animator could probably stick your sketches into a scanner and run an autotrace on them if that were really all he needed. He's probably rasing the question of whether you know how to rework the cartoons as vector graphics not merely so they will consist of vector paths; but so they will be vector paths that are suitable for the downstream animation purposes. Or, he may be gently breaking the news to the client that he's working with a cartoonist who isn't really up with the times, and that's going to cost time and money in the projects somewhere downstream.

  • Eyedropper, select stroke, and click on a fill to apply colour to stroke

    I`m choosing  a stroke, selecting eyedropper and clicking on a fill colour elsewhere, it doesnt apply it to the stroke, this would be simple, how can I choose a stroke and change the stroke colour to match a fill on another object in the quickest possible way?
    trying to make a swatch from the fill, then applying it to stroke doesn`t work either,, but thats a long way anyway, has to be a way to apply a fill colour to a selected stroke..
    quickest way I know is to use eyedropper to select the fill colour on other object, this fills the fillbox on tool palette, then hover over this fill swatch and drag it onto the stroke swatch on tool palette, then drag the stroke swatch onto the stroked path you want to recolour,
    so 3 steps there,anything quicker?

    I find that when selecting a colour from another stroke to apply to just the stroke of my selected object, I have to hover over the center spline of the stroke I`m colour picking from, when doing this from blends, there is no center line for the blend pieces generated, you have to guess where the center of the stroke is, if you don`t get the center of the stroke, the selected objects stroke becomes white..
    just thought it would be easier if you could click anywhere within the stroke boundaries of a blend piece, I could always expand the blend, but not simply to use its colours generated for strokes elsewhere, but its a work around,
    still love it anyway, thanks for showing,

  • Lines and title flashing across the program monitor and in final export

    I'm seeing very thin lines flashing across the program monitor when playing a complex sequence with 7 video tracks. They draw at various angles and span the entire screen. There can be one or more showing at any time. They are colored and each line appears to be only one color, but different lines can be different colors. Some lines are solid, others are dashed. There is also a ghosty-white representation of one of my titles flashing around the screen for only a frame or two, then it flashes somewhere else.
    Sequences and Tracks:
    Base Sequence: AVCHD with disolves and color correction
    Next Sequence Layer: Base Sequence placed on tracks 1 and 2. Motion is applied to both tracks. LInearWipe and Opacity are applied to Track 2.
    (This creates an image in the center of the screen with a reflection.)
    Next Sequence Layer (1st track of the final 7): Animates Basic3D and Motion (position, scaling)
    2nd, 3rd and 4th of the seven are just like the1st. So there are 4 video screens flying around with reflections and perspective. Kind of like the iTunes album art widget - screen flies in, goes center stage, then flies back.
    Layers 5 to 7 are titles. They are also nested sequences having reflections and Basic3D, but their positions are not animated.
    My system:
    Phenom II x6 1055T
    8 Gb DDR3 1333
    3 Drives 7200 rpm (one program, one preview/conforming, one video)
    nVidia GeForce GTX 260 (3 fans attached)
    3 Case fans plus the side is open - running very cool
    MSI 890GXM-G65 Mobo
    My Project:
    Originated as a CS4 project, opened with CS5 and converted (did not import). Fixed all the title screwups, missing fonts, graphics, hooked up the off-line media etc etc. There are a couple of 1.5 hour nested AVCHD multi-camera sequences which look and play great. Then there are 2 of these monster sequences which are actually used as DVD menus and are about 44 seconds each. When I render these 7 layer menu sequences and play them back, these lines start flashing across the screen.
    Of course the GTX 260 has the GPU unlocked and that works great for the 1.5 hour programs. But if I attempt to render the 44 second monsters Premier stops responding and I have to EndTask it (all CPUs drop to idle while not responding). These monster sequences might test the power of the Quadro CX. So when I work with the menu sequences, I set Premiere to use software GPU and not MPE. Then I can render (2 hours render time to preview 44 seconds with six cores at near 100%). So it does render, slowly.
    I'm exporting an mpeg2 file now and will let you know if the lines show up in the final rendering. I can see the lines showing up on the MediaEncoder's small preview screen as it renders. Doesn't give me comfort.
    OK worst case scenario. The lines ARE in the final mpeg2 file. Makes the file unusable garbage...
    Is anyone else seeing flashing lines and titles?
    Here's a link to a still from the export to illustrate the artifacts.(face and name were blanked out by me)
    http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/5051/premierecs5lineandtitle.jpg
    Thanks

    The crop workaround was successful for removing the lines - worked great. There was the issue of the ghost text which you can see in the screenshot link provided above. This was not removed by crop. Crop removed the lines, but not the ghost. Thankfully, the 4 point garbage mask did work on the ghost and I was able to eliminate it. I had to apply the garbage mask on the sequence where Basic3D was applied not its parent sequence where VerticalFlip was used. The most important thing is that I've successfully migrated this CS4 project to CS5 and can now take advantage of 64bit processing (more RAM) to tame the beast. I'm using this sequence as a menu for a series of DVDs so my time expended will pay me back again and again.
    The asset generating the ghost was built like this...
    In the titler: Text was placed over a logo (.tiff file for logo and it was scaled and moved)
    Base Sequence: Title was brought to two, stacked tracks. VerticalFlip, and LinearWipe were applied to one which was then moved to look like a reflection of the other
    Next Sequence: Layed the Base Sequence down. Applied Basic 3D and moved it's XY position. (This is where I applied the GarbageMask to remove the ghost)
    I tried separating the logo from the text thinking that the logo feature of the titler might be the problem. So I used a separate video track and pulled in the .tiff file directly. It didn't eliminate the ghost. Applying the GarbageMask to the base sequence also didn't help. It was only after Basic3D was applied that the ghost would appear. And since I have Basic3D applied to other reflected text-only layers which do not exhibit the ghost artifact, the bug has something to do with the text/graphic combination with VerticalFlip and Basic3D.
    To top it all off, I can no longer recreate the problem. I've turned off the garbage mask and it's not showing up. While I was testing, the ghost was easy to recreate, but now I can't do it. So I don't appear to be able to drill down deeper. Perhaps it will come back at some point and I can test it further and update this thread.

  • Custom keyboard shortcuts and editing multiple layers in Flash CS4

    Hi, all -
    CS3 -> CS4 transition newb here who's getting increasingly frustrated with the new motion tweens; however, for this project, I'm working in a 3D space and require using them, so I'm dealing with this bit by painful bit. I found the tip about Split Motion, but first question: how do you apply Split Motion across several layers at the same time? I have six different tweens, and in CS3, I used to be able to shift-click or click-drag across frames and apply a command to all of them (for example, hit F5 to add frames), but Split Motion is requiring me to right-click on each and every layer. This is really laborious, and I worry about future animations that might be more complex.
    Similarly, I tend to add custom keyboard shortcuts to each of my Flash versions for commands I use frequently and don't want to right-click a menu for (such as "add motion tween") - however, I can't seem to find where to create a custom shortcut for either that, or Split Motion.
    Any and all help would be appreciated as I muddle through this. Honestly, guys, I WANT to like the new version and there's so many added features, but it's hampering my workflow so bad I want to pummel it with sticks.

    Hey there,
    I definitely hear you about Split Motion. There is an enhancement request for supporting multiple layers, and adding it as a keyboard shortcut. The first one is tricky, but the second one is not. I think there was hope that splitting motions wouldn't be necessary much (especially since you have to be careful when doing so when eases are involved), which is why the eventual need for more functionality related to split motion was realized a bit late in the schedule.
    Now regarding other operations, such as you mentioned F5 to insert frames - that and other operations (inserting certain types of property keyframes, F6, and so on) work just fine.
    You can apply a shortcut to Create Motion Tween in the custom keyboard shortcut dialog.  Not all operations in the program are available though (most context menu items aren't), which is why unfortunately why we don't see Split Motion yet.
    It might be possible to avoid Split Motion though with another workflow. What are you using the feature for?  Just curious in case I can help.
    Jen.

  • Why doesn't Photoshop CS5 automatically scale strokes and effects?

    I am looking everywhere for why Photoshop CS5 doesn't automatically scale strokes and effects. I could've sworn there was a preference in CS4 but there's nothing resembling this in CS5. Driving me crazy!
    Whenever I do a Free Transform, the effects are completely out of whack and force me to waste time resetting them individually, layer by layer. I used to be able to grab any object or group of objects, do a transformation and Photoshop automatically recalculated. If anyone has a tip on how to avoid the annoyance of having to go layer by layer and forcibly adjusting that would be great.

    Layer style effect setting are in absolute pixel size values so if you change the scale of a layer the style size remains the same. You can edit the layers style effects after tou do a transform on the layer and change the absolute setting. If the layer has been rastersized or flattened you can not. I have request that Adobe add support for relative settings like inches, cm, mm etc which is relative to the documents dpi resolution. This would be very helpful for recording actions.
    However photoshop can scale existing layer style for you when you use Image Size there is a check box.  If you need to scale a single layer and have its style scaled you need to do it in a round about way. Convert the layer to a smart object. Then instead of using transform double click on the layser smart object icon in the layers palette.  Photoshop will open that layer embedded smart object in Photoshop for you to work on it.. Use Image Size to resize the layer up or down in size and check resample constrain and the scale style check box.  Then use menu File>Save.  Photoshop will then update the embedded smart object in the smart object layer and you can close the document Photoshop opened for you to work on the smart object.

  • Default Stroke and Fill

    I would like to remove the keyboard shortcut for default stroke and fill
    With object selected, if I type D it changes fill to none and stroke to black. I just want to get rid of this shortcut. I can't find it listed in the keyboard shortcuts

    In the Keyboard Shortcuts it's under
