Recording Audio through/with Flash

Hello,
We are working with a client who has a project that they need
a customer to record audio from their computer. We want to do the
designs in Flash. Does anybody have an idea or suggestion on how to
record audio through flash (swf) or what software would be useful
in conjunction with?
Thanks!

You can capture audio from a microphone quite easily in
Flash:
var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone();
mic.setLoopBack(); //Routes audio to speakers
However saving audio has always been a problem in Flash. It
is a tricky work-around process. You can only send to a server
running Flash Media Server and then convert the audio using a tool
like the one used for this project:
http://blog.andrewpaulsimmons.com/2007/05/recording-audio-with-flash-player-to.html#links
Recorded audio in Flash uses the NellyMoser codec, which is a
low quality mono only audio codec designed for voice only. I found
a decoder here as well as the one listed at the link above:

Hopefully Flash will improve in this field in the
future.

  • Slow motion recording and playback with Flash Player with web browers

    Hi,
    I am using a MacBook, have installed Flash Player 10, and everything was great until a couple of days ago. Then, my audio playback with Flash seems to be in slow motion. I record my voice in this program call Voicethread using either Safari or Firefox and what it should be a 3 seconf audio track seems to be elongated to 9, streching my voice like it is on slow motion. I have tried everything that it is recommended (restaring, uninstallins, reinstalling, etc) and NOTHING... I have spent hours already trying to fix this issue that came from nowhere... 36 hours ago was working just perfectly!
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Luis

    Adobe Flash Player has also been crashing periodically on 2 of my computers, I'm still running XP, one of them a powerful HTPC, Dell Optiplex 755 SFF over a new Cable Internet Connection. Buffering, Lagging, crashing when streaming video for Catchup TV (Freeview) via Firefox Adobe Flash Player Add-On, does not happen on Youtube though. Lagging & Crashing does NOT occur AT ALL in Google Chrome, but I hate that browser.
    Have tried the usual disabling Flash Hardware Acceleration + Protected Mode, setting storage to Unlimited, disabling FF Ad Blockers + Hardware Acceleration, cleaning Caches, updating program versions, everything bar reinstalling programs. It's not happening in Chrome, why in Firefox?

  • Record audio through Mic on web site and send it to other place

    Hi There,
    I 'd like to record audio through mic using Flash on a web
    site and send the audio clip to other people or to the server. Is
    it possible without FMS?
    Thanks!
    Nick

    No, without FMS you can't save the audio from a mic.

  • RECORDING AUDIO through ROLAND FANTOM G8 on LOGIC PRO

    Guys, I have been struggling for days, with such a ridiculously simple issue. I need to be able to record audio through my mic which is connected through my Roland Fantom G8 on one audio track in Logic, while simultaneously hearing the beat on another audio track through my computer's built-in output. Garageband does this automatically.
    When I set the core audio input to the Roland Fantom, I can record just fine, but then I cannot hear the beat play through the computer's output. If I set the core audio input to built-in input, then I can hear the beat through the computer, but Logic does not detect my mic.
    The program detects the Roland without me setting the core audio input to Roland Fantom, as I can record sounds on a midi track while simultaneously hearing the beat on an audio track. So why can I not record my vocals through the Roland on one audio track and simultaneously hear the beat on another audio track through the computer's output?
    Somebody please let me know ASAP because I need to get this album of mine under way. It would be GREATLY appreciated.

    It's quite common - people who are used to using entry-level tools don't necessarily realise that the software is designed to do a certain amount of hand-holding.
    When moving to a professional program, people somehow think that the new program will do everything the entry-level one did and more, but everything will be even easier.
    However, professional software is designed specifically to not do any hand-holding. It's assumed that people using professional software have a certain amount of skills. The software is designed to help them realise what they want, rather than constrain them in "easy-mode".
    In short, it doesn't hold your hand, it doesn't tell you when to go to bed, and it won't look all dissapproving when you turn up the following morning with a hangover and half your clothes missing.
    The trouble with having the pro stuff so accessible is a lot of people who are really at the level of using entry-level programs are using the pro stuff simply because they can - and then they get frustrated because these programs require some knowledge to use effectively.
    Sit someone in front of Maya or After Effects (as an example) who has very little knowledge or experience, and they won't get far. And the software is not going to try to educate them.
    And we see this with Logic Pro 8 like never before, as a lot of new users have come on board, whether because the price point or value is so attractive, or because LP8 is accessible in a way LP7 and before wasn't.
    (Note, this is a general thing, not necessarily applied to the OP here...)

  • Record audio through jack input

    Hi,
    does anbody know if and how it is possible to record audio through my Q5's jack audio input (not through mic!)?
    In case it's not supported via existing apps, can it be programmed via some API?

  • Cannot adjust record audio level with I-Mic as audio in

    Hi,
    I would like to record audio from my stereo through my Griffin Technologies I-Mic connection using Audacity audio software. I cannot adjust input recording audio down even though I have completely turned off the input audio on Audicity. The recording audio is pegging red and the recorded playback audio is completely overmodulated. The audicity help techs believe the problem lies with my sound card, which happens to be the Sound Blaster 24 bit.
    Months ago, I was able to do it, but this time around had no success. Is there something that I can click on the soundblaster that will allow audicity to properly adjust the input audio?
    Karl

    Wow, here I go again.....  I found out how I locked up the audio track of my video file.
    After I re-imported my original video recording, and had adjusted the volume level, I had to expand my video image to fill my "canvas".  When I went to transform this layer, I was told I must first convert this to a smart object.  As soon as I did that, the track turned from blue to purple!
    I would hope that if I edit my original video track in such a simple way, that I would NOT loose access to adjusting the volume of my video track......  But that is the odd way that this works.............

  • I record audio MPEG with MP3 extension

    BACKGROUND
    I record short sound audio MPEG clips , that generate a file with extension “MP3”. The bit rate is 128 kbps, which I understand must be increased to  >1’200 kbps
    BIT RATES
    I did increase this to “total bit rate” of 192’000 but am not sure if that‘s the same as kbps.
    CONVERSION
    I use an app from Apple called “MP3-Converter”
    I then convert the “MP3” file & then find the files in a “My Music” folder, with file extensions : “mp3”,  “m4a” “MP3”.
    ITUNES
    Itunes will play each file.
    GARAGEBAND
    I can’t drag these files in2 a Garageband project, either via iTunes  or thru Garageband’s media browser.
    WORK AROUND
    I downloaded a program called   “Audacity”, which has since disappeared from my Apple Mac. I was able to upload to this program, which converted the file to “.wav”, which I then found in iTunes. I could then move it to a Garageband project to manipulate.
    EASIER WAY
    There must be an easier way to do this.
    SOLUTION
    Any suggestions to make this an easier process would be GR8.

    Does anyone ever do the same thing before?
    What i want is to make sure there is a way that one can
    specify a audio codec with which flash player will use to record
    the audio data come from the microphone .
    thanks

  • Problems recording audio through garageband

    Hello Mac world, I'm completely new to the Mac computers, and just purchased my MacBook Pro with a 2.3 ghz quad-core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB SSD, so I don't think specs are the problem to my issue. I purchased the Mac to record audio, and also purchased an audio interface to record through (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2). I have downloaded the most recent drivers for that. I connected my guitar through the instrument input, connected the interface through USB, and connected headphones into the headphone jack. I can hear the audio playback while I play through the headphones, but my problem relates to the actual recording process, as well as the audio playback.
    When recording, I get the following error: "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI - Sample rate 41068 recognized. Check conflict between GarageBand and external device". I read that GarageBand requires a sample rate of 41000, but I don't know how to check/change that. I also can't hear the metronome or the count in while I play/record. My input source is Mono 1 (Scarlett 2i2 USB), instead of Stereo (Scarlett 2i2 USB) in both my GarageBand preferences and my System Preferences.
    Next, I have a problem hearing the audio playback after recording. Again, I can hear the guitar while I play, but not after I record. Also, like I mentioned above, I can't hear any metronome or count in.
    I also successfully recorded using a MIDI controller when connecting directly from the controller to computer using USB. Again, I don't think that my system specs are an issue, but I am completely new to the Mac side of things, and am not sure where I am going wrong with this.
    Does anyone have any clues as to what the issue may be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Adam

  • Recorded audio through iSight is fuzzy on playback

    Not my own iMac, but that of a friend. When she records a video with the iSight the audio playback has become a bit "fuzzy". It doesn't sound too bad, but sometimes it's hard to understand some of her words. Previous videos created have very clear audio.
    What can I do to help her?

    Hello littlezilla.
    Diablorist offers a good suggestion to check System Preferences > Sound (both "Input" and "Output") settings. If you friend uses external speakers, also check whether those settings might need adjustment.
    Built-in iSight has no mic. Those iMacs use the mic built into the iMac.
    Your friend should verify that playing ONLY those things that she records NOW sounds bad. For instance, does a commercial audio CD also sound bad? Does one of those old recording that sounded good in the past still sound good? If all audio now coming out of your friend's iMac is "fuzzy", your friend's speakers (not the mic) may be damaged or your friend's sound card may be failing.
    If your friend's old recording still sound good when played back, there is nothing wrong with your friend's system's sound output components.
    Your friend should next try recording sound with a different application. If playback of a file recorded with a different app sounds good, the software for the app she initially used may be damaged. Try reinstalling that application.
    If playback of files recorded with any app that uses the iMac's built-in mic also sounds "fuzzy", the mic or audio processing components may be damaged. You can test that by using a different mic. If your friend does not have access to another mic, try playing back something recorded with a camcorder or digital camera. You may even want to buy an external mic like the Logitech USB Desktop Microphone for this test. If your friend's problem really IS the mic, using the desktop Mic will likely be cheaper than repairing your friend's iMac unless it is still covered by warranty.
    If you cannot fix the problem with software or an add-on mic, your friend should contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for professional service.

  • Streaming audio problems with flash 11

    Win XP Pro, 32 bit, IE 8 and Chrome 19: Flash 10 would stop (iheart radio) 4-5 times with a "streaming error".  Iheart suggested upgrading flash to version 11.  Since then, audio quality has gone down - echos, reverbs, slows, skips - sounds like an old 8 track tape!  Attempts to remove flash 11 have failed - it just comes back.  I followed the steps at adobe help, it still comes back.  Tried updating audio drivers (intel 82801AA) - no change.  Tried installing archived version 10 - flash still reports version 11.  This thing is stickier than peanut butter on a hot day in a glue factory!  Can anyone help - this is driving me craaazzzzyyyy.

    I'm sorry you've run into this audio bug.  Please see this FAQ for instructions on reverting to a previous version of Flash Player.
    How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

  • Are plug-ins applied in the recorded audio file with GB2?

    I have a very basic question and I think I know the answer but I just want to have a confirmation. I am using the ChannelStrip plug-in from Metric Halo, which is great by the way, I am wondering if the process is applied directly in the audio file when I am recording a track or if it will only be when I export the track to iTunes? For example when you process a file with a software like PEAK you must indicate that you want the plug in to be applied to the audio file unless it will leave the original audio file unchanged.
    Thanks in advance!

    If I can remember rightly, a sound recordist friend of mine had one of these units and there was a problem importing the audio from it into pro-tools and avid. I do remember though it was a firmware update that eventually fixed it.
    Also does this thing record dual stereo channels onto one .wav file, or two seperate .wavs?

  • Recording audio portion with two headsets

    I would like to use two people/two headsets to record the
    audio portion of my captivate software demo. We are using two
    digital headset microphones, each with a USB connection
    (Plantronics Gamecom | Pro 1) within a VMware session. The visual
    portion records just fine, but only one headset picks up the audio
    portion. The second headset doesn't pick up anything.
    Ideas on how to get BOTH headsets working while recording?
    (We just spent money on the headsets and would prefer not having to
    spend more money on a single, but shared, microphone that sits on a
    desk; plus we're under a tight schedule :-)

    Sorry I don't have an answer for you - directly, anyway. I do
    understand why you might want to do the dual-mic thing, but I don't
    believe Captivate can handle the double-source audio.
    I would recommend (unless someone here has a better answer)
    that you use your dual microphones and take your script outside
    Captivate to do the recording, then use the Audio Import function
    to bring your saved MP3 or WAV audio into the project that way.
    Best of luck, and welcome to the User Community!

  • Recording audio through firewire in GarageBand, possible?

    If I hook up my XLR mic to my Sony PD150, then hook the camera to my MacBook Pro through firewire, I can record in Quicktime fine. However when I try the same thing in Garageband it doesn't work (in Preferences, the only 2 options are "in-built mic" and "in-built line in"; in Quicktime I get a "DV Audio" option which is my firewire input).
    Does Garageband just not support Firewire audio at all, or is it just my particular setup that is confusing it?

  • Reading and Recording audio waveforms with SoundBlas

    Does any of the Soundblaster hardware or software have the ability to record an audio waveform. Specifically, if I put an audio input into the soundblaster, can it read and recored the waveform's voltage value?

    Just in case some one might need it, I solved my problem:
    I simply needed to initialize the AudioSession before playing/recording. I did so with the following code:
    OSStatus err;
    AudioSessionInitialize(NULL, NULL, MyInterruptionListener, self);
    UInt32 sessionCategory = kAudioSessionCategory_PlayAndRecord;
    err = AudioSessionSetProperty (kAudioSessionProperty_AudioCategory,
    sizeof (sessionCategory),
    &sessionCategory);
    AudioSessionSetActive(TRUE);

  • Recording audio through a changing tempo curve...

    I'm trying to record an audio track in one of my projects, and i have the tempo curve set to gradually slow down over a few bars, then pick back up. After I had set all this, I tried to record a guitar track over it. Whenever the playback gets to the tempo change, it "analyzes the audio file", and then completely screws it over in that section, pushing everything else on the other end so nothing syncs up anymore. Is there a way to get it to not do this?

    I have a Keystation 49-e. I don't know how to use the "internal" sound synths for which it is supposed to be set. However, I have learned that I can input "notes" into a track only AFTER I have applied a "MIDI" instrument to it from the list of those within Logic or from other MIDI instruments external to Logic.
