Recovering last good BE

I am using the latest Solaris release and my configuration is mirrored zfs drives. I created a new BE for patching, I applied patches to that BE, I then activated the new BE, this is the message I got:
The target boot environment has been activated. It will be used when you
reboot. NOTE: You MUST NOT USE the reboot, halt, or uadmin commands. You
MUST USE either the init or the shutdown command when you reboot. If you
do not use either init or shutdown, the system will not boot using the
target BE.
In case of a failure while booting to the target BE, the following process
needs to be followed to fallback to the currently working boot environment:
1. Boot from Solaris failsafe or boot in single user mode from the Solaris
Install CD or Network.
2. Mount the Parent boot environment root slice to some directory (like /mnt). You can use the following command to mount:
mount -Fzfs /dev/dsk/c0d0s0 /mnt
3. Run utility with out any arguments from the Parent boot
environment root slice, as shown below:
/mnt/sbin/luactivate
4. luactivate, activates the previous working boot environment and
indicates the result.
5. Exit Single User mode and reboot the machine.
I ran into problems booting off of the patched BE, so I followed the steps above to get to the last good BE, but I got the following message:
cannot open ‘/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0′: invalid dataset name

That message is a known bug, you can not mount your ZFS filesystem with a normal 'mount' command. The correct output for point 2 is:
zpool import rpool
zfs inherit -r mountpoint rpool/ROOT/<last good BE>
zfs set mountpoint=<mountpointName> rpool/ROOT/<last good BE>
zfs mount rpool/ROOT/<last good BE>
.. this is fixed in the live upgrade patch.

  • The difference between system restore and last good known configuration

    hi,
what is the difference between system restore  and last good known configuration.
in which situation you use system restore ,and in which situation you use last good known configuration.
very short answer wil be enough.
    thanks
    johan
    h.david

Last Known Good Configuration deals only with Starting Windows eg. a bad registry or incorrect driver is preventing Windows to start. It recovers the registry settings of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet
While System Restore uses restore points to return your system files and settings to an earlier point in time without affecting personal files. Restore points are created automatically every week, and just before significant system events, such as the installation
of a program or device driver. You can also create a restore point manually. You can undone system restore but there is no such option in Last Known Good Configuration.
Last Known Good Configuration is disabled in Windows 8 or,Windows 8.1 by default.
Try using Last Known Good Configuration if you can't start Windows, but it started correctly the last time you turned on the computer.
Try using System Restore to return the system to an earlier point in time when things worked correctly.

  • Batch classification "Date of last goods receipt" is "00.00.0000"

    Dear all,
I have configured all steps for batch determination for FIFO.
It worked fine for IM (stock transfer - mov.type 301) on last friday, however, get the issue today:
    - After I do GR (mov.type 101), the batch is auto created, batch classification is created,
I use MSC2N to view batch classification:
the value of "Date of last goods receipt" is "00.00.0000"
What is wrong with my configuration?
Could you pls help me to fix this?
Thanl you very much for you help!

System Updates Batch Data in the Batch Master Record in the Following ways :
    1)  If the batch does not yet exist for the plant, it is automatically created.
    2)  If the batch already exists for the plant, the new quantity is simply posted as a receipt in the specified storage location.
When posting a goods receipt with reference to Purchase order, the system updates Posting date as the goods receipt date in general data of the batch.

    Hi Experts!!
is there any table/info structure where I have the last goods receipt material document number, last goods issue material document number and last purchase order number? I want to extract this information to Business Warehouse.

Are you looking for a report similar to MB51?

All Movement Details are in the below tables.
    MKPF- Material Document Header,
MSEG - Material Document Detail -( you can put your material, plant for selection)
Last PO  - you can get it from Info-record (EINE- EBELN, EINE-EBELP).

  • Just emigrated from the UK to Canada, changed mobile provider and synced to itunes as final step (on my daughters laptop) and lost 3000 songs!!  Can I recover them?  My main PC is in the UK in my sisters loft.  Last good back up early Nov.  Help!

This issue is also complicated I suspect by me changing emails prior to emigration and not great use of my additional icloud storage.  I am sure I had itunes on my icloud but cannot see it for the life of me now.
Having read a few posts what has happenend is I have stuck the USB cable into my daughters laptop with her own itunes on there.  I didnt realise this until after the dreaded event!
Is it possible to back up remotely?  What other options are there?

If you still have your files on your iPod, you can recover them from there see this post from Zevoneer:

If not, there are Windows undelete utilities which you can find with Google, but it is a chancy business and you should use your PC as little as possible if you are going to try it. Windows doesn't actually remove a deleted file, but it makes its space available for reuse.
Typing Windows XP undelete into Google finds as fair bit, but I haven't used one of these programs myself so I can't recommend one.

  • Database restore; database recover; Last step?

Ok, this is my first try with rman to restore and recover from tape.
My restore database finished successfully...no errors.
My recover database finished successfully...no errors.
    Now...what is my last step?
Do I shut down and open back up normally, or, do I need to do something like shut down, then open with reset logs?
I'm guessing a full database backup after this re-opening would be a good idea too, no?
    Thank you,

  • Making a small change to an old project - How do I know what versions of Drivers and RIO etc was used for the last good build?

If I want to make a small change to a legacy project of years ago, I want to limit my risk by using the exact same versions of LabVIEW, NI-RIO etc.  So I check out the project from the repo, but I don't know how to check what versions were used when the last know good build was made.  I don't want to introduce issues by mass-recompiling to the latest version.
What is best practice in this case?  I could, before every repo commit, take a screenshot of MAX's software tree and save this in the project folder.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The report is a great idea!  I store both a max technical report and a project.NCE (HW config export) with each of my projects for this exact reason.  Those files have sure come in handy!
Also- its a good idea to make an image of the target as accepted and archive it somewhere.  ESPECIALLY for PXI based systems from NI.  (When the customer comes back for a "duplicate" just send the image with the PO and the system arrives fully configured)

  • How to recover last session/lost tabs on Safari 5.0.5?

Okay so I own a Macbook Air, and I always charge it no matter what, it's always charging and it always has battery. I keep open LOTS of things such as text-edit, safari w/ tabs, and pages. So today after I closed it, (didn't turn it off or anything) I came back and hour later to find it turned off, I turned it on again. And it clearly still had 27% of battery left. And ALL of my WORK was GONE!! I got so frustrated, I read there's no way I can recover lost textedit stuff if I didn't save it, I don't really mind what happened to pages. But I had important stuff in textedit I'm trying to remember and jot down now, and I also had important tabs opened in Safari. Is there any way to recover these tabs from the previous session? I read you can go to History > Reopen tabs from last session. But I don't see that option anywhere, I can't right-click on History nor does History have a drop down option.... Please help! =\ I'm very frustrated... thanks.

    well, it's meant to
"  To have TextEdit automatically save (or “autosave”) a backup of documents while you’re working, choose how often you want to autosave from the “Autosave modified documents” pop-up menu below Autosaving. If TextEdit unexpectedly quits, it opens the backup copy of your document the next time you open TextEdit. "
If you'd previously saved it, there ought to be a  filename (autosaved) file in the same folder as the saved one.
If never saved - look in
    Home/Library/Autosave Information/

  • The last good mouse Apple made? Re:  Apple BlueTooth mouse on a MacBook?

    Hi.
I am interested in buying an Apple BT wireless mouse (the full sized clear plastic with white base) off eBay or other site since I want an Apple mouse for my MacBook but I don't care for the Mighty Mouse.
I was speaking with another Mac user recently and he said it is not likely to work with my MacBook. Were these mice reliable with the PPC Macs? Will they work with my MacBook?
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all who reply.

Question not answered but I want to get rid of the post in my list.

  • Can´t uninstall swide drivers

     i cant uninstall ide drivers.
They aren´t in add/remove programs -> nvidia drivers
when i change it into device manager to standard microsoft and reboot i get a bsod and i have to recover the last good configuration to boot.
    Can you help me?

Ok about the scsi comment. I pushed F6 during XP installation in order to get the driver installed for future changes in my system. But now i haven´t anything except two single ATA disks in my first controller and two optical in the secondary one as you can see in my signature
    Repeating the problem...
Into the Add and remove programs, under nvidia drivers i can´t find an entry for ide driver, so i can´t uninstall it from there
Into the device manager, under IDE Controller i have the Nforce3 250 Parallel ATA controller (no controllers under it as the MS driver...), i change it to the Microsoft IDE Pci dual etc, etc, ok to reboot, bsod, restart, recover last good configuration or dead.
I have no raid active either the bios, either the system, either, either, either.
I have configured my system for no reboot when it gets a bsod but it reboots when i change this evil driver.
The reason to change this driver is because i get machine check errors, system hanged when access hd´s ocasionally, etc and i want to test with microsoft drivers
How change this driver to microsoft one!!!!!!! Please answer anybody!!!!!
