  • Problem redeploying war files with deployment tool

I'm going thru the j2ee tutorial(downloaded Dec 03). I can't successfully redeploy war files. After making changes to a java file and then rebuilding using asant, using the deploytool I save changes and then redeploy. I always get the old version unless I completely remove the old web module and create a new one. I've seen this problem over and over in the forum but nobody has addressed it properly. Please help.

To be more specific, I'm working on the bookstore example in the J2ee tutorial. If I just add a single web module(banner servlet) to the existing standalone war module bookstore1, The tools->update module tools->deploy works fine. If I add the rest of the modules(bookDetailsServlet, bookStoreServlet, etc). After making changes and rebuilding the .java files if I go to tools->update module the window displays nothing under the heading "the following entries have changes".
Under the heading "the following entries were not found on disk" is a list of all the files under the war module bookstore1.war. I'm don't understand why it is not recognizing the changes. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Redeploying war files for BOXIR3 on AIX!

    Hi all,
I've installed R3 on Unix-AIX 5.3.7 using Apachi/tomcat 55, but I couldn't open neither Infoview nor CMC with (The requested resource (/CmcApp) is not available.) error message,
and I discoverd that the war files have not deployed successfully, now I need to redeploy it but I cannot find those wars on the installation sources.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

War files can be found in the installation user's directory.
    ../bobje/enterprise120/java/applications/
Aside from manual deployment,  you can also use the wdeploy script.  The script is located under the installation user's directory in the deployment directory.   Check the config.tomcatt55  file to ensure the information in there is correct.

  • Redeploying WAR files

Up until now, the application that I work on is manually deployed, that is to say, we don't use a WAR file. We just create the correct WEB-INF directory structure manually. While obviously a lot more work, it allows us to 'upgrade' to a newer build by simply uploading a new jar file containing the app core, and a restart of the appserver worked.
However, the app is currently in the process of an overhaul, and as part of this, we're changing to WAR deployment. The problem I'm facing now, is that some deployments are regularly updated - When deployed, the application goes through it's 'initialisation' routine, where it asks for various bits of information, such as database connection parameters, and saves those config options in a file under WEB-INF, so on next reload, it can get those params. However, if I use WAR deployment, those parameters are lost, as the appdir is replaced. It's not going to be of any use if the person deploying has to re-enter all parameters on re-deployment. I know you could say that the web.xml could be edited, and the parameters stored there via standard param-name/value entries, but again, that makes in unpractical for deployment for various machines.
Is there some standard appserver feature that I don't know about that allows local data persistence? I've looked up various books, and sites (though, it's difficult to find, since I don't know what to search for) but I'm not having much luck, the word 'persistence' simply results in pages telling me to manually enter db params in web-inf, and storing my config there.
    Thanks in advance,
    Barry

  • How to Redeploy application in OC4J using war file

    Hi
Am new in area of 9ias and OC4J.
I have deployed and application in OC4J of 9ias 902. using enterprise manager web interface.
now i have change the contents of current jsp and added more jsp files.
do i have to recreate war file and redeploy it in oc4j? or just copy the new version of current jsp and copy new jsp in application forlder.
in case of redeploying , exterprise manager web interface asks for .ear file.
can anyone give some hint to me... it will great help
    thanks
    samir
    [email protected]

Yes you have to rebuild the WAR file. You can deploy WAR from EMWebsite by using the deploy WAR link. If you are in development and your WAR/EAR file is constantly changing you can use standalone OC4J.

  • War Files And Their Deployment and Redeployment

    Howdy
I have a WAR file that a developer gave me which I deployed on a Linux box no problem.
Now I would like to add a jsp file and custom tag to this application.
    This is what I tried:
I turned the war file into a zip file extracted the contents and then added my jsp page the class file for the custom tag modified the web.xml file for the tag and added a tld file for the tag as well.
Then I rezipped the files and renamed to a .war file and deployed it on the linux box. The previous existing files work but my new jsp page comes up with a HTTP 404 Not Found error.
Now the new jsp and custom tag work on my development machine just not on the live server when reployed into the other existing app.
What am I missing? Or am I totally off with trying to redeploy the app in this way?
    Any help appreciated.
    Adam

For deployment you need to use ant

  • JSP is not updated after redeploying new war file

    Hi
I have a simple code change in JSP in a war file. When I redeploy the war file, I do not see modified JSP. Very strange.
I am using Weblogic 8.1 and copying new war file under Admin/upload folder.
    Thank you
    RM

    Here are the steps:
    1. Modify JSP
    2. Run ant to create new war file
    3. Copy war file to Weblogic's Admin/upload/web_module_name folder
Redeploy Application from console or restarting admin and appserver does not seem to unjar modified war file into Admin/upload and Stage folders. Can someone tell me how to force weblogic to take this new war file to deploy into Stage area?

  • How to check amsilent file in Sun Access manager patch or redeploying WAR's

h1. How to check amsilent file in Sun Access manager patch or redeploying WAR's
I had a hard time getting all the passwords correct, so I wrote a shell (bash) script that uses most passwords and other parameters in searches and queries. It let's you know before you start if a value is wrong. It does not change anything, only queries.
    h2. One pitfall I found ...
during the postinstall of patch 05. I told Sun about it, but I suspect it was too late and is also an issue with patch 06:
Look at the documentation regarding amconfig and the amsilent file:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2137/adsav?l=en&q=amconfig&a=view
Two problems that are clear to me now:
    1. ADMINPASSWD in practice, this password is used for cn=puser, not amadmin as it says. Perhaps there is something that makes them the same. It was the same for me, so it probably does not matter.
    2. AS81_ADMINPASSWD is not the same as ADMINPASSWD using either my definition or the document's definition. However, in the amsilent template, it is set like this, which I found is incorrect and the cause of my recent hair loss:
    <blockquote>AS81_ADMINPASSWD="$ADMINPASSWD"</blockquote>
Also, this one if you use the web server:
    <blockquote>WL8_PASSWORD="$ADMINPASSWD"</blockquote>
Delete the $ADMINPASSWD and replace it with the password for the app/web server.
    h2. The Script.
It tests for the above problem, but I just realized it does not check $ADMINPASSWD. If that is set incorrectly in your amsilent, you'll get errors immediately from amconfig, so no big deal. If you make improvements, please post a reply!
Paste this into a file named checkamsilent. LDAP and appserver must be running. It reads /opt/SUNWam/amsilent. Run it as root or use sudo:
    sudo ./checkamsilent
    #!/usr/bin/bash
echo "This will test several important parameters of the amsilent file "
            echo "run this as root."

    In szmap.war\WEB-INF\lib, I can find spring-beans-2.0.8.jar, spring-context-2.0.8.jar, spring-core-2.0.8.jar, spring-web-2.0.8.jar.
I change weblogic.xml as follows. Then, I get new errors.

  • Customizing AM Images & Facing Problem in Update & Deploy War files

    Hey Guys!
This is Yash Bansal from Gurgaon, India. i am new to access manager. i am now customizing it and facing problem in customizing.
I have customized images which is present in directory path:
    opt/SUNWam/web-src/services/images/
and updated services.war file which is present in directory path:
    opt/SUNWam/war/
    with command
    jar -uvf services.war /opt/SUNWam/web-src/services/images/login-backimage.jpg
then deployed configuration from the web server 7.0 admin console.
after that when i open the url
    http://<hostname>/amserver/console
then Page Not Found error comes in the browser.
Just wanted to ask you guys am i doing the steps right. please help if someone know how to update and deploy war file on Sun Web server 7.0.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Yash Bansal

    Hi!
Deploying the configuration does not (re)deploy the application. Webserver stores a copy of the deployed application and all configurations in the admin instance. When you change anything in the webserver console it is first written there and only applied to the productive instance when you deploy configuration.
When you add images, jsps or something else to /opt/SUNWam/... and want it redeployed you have to use amconfig command. in /opt/SUNWam/bin there is a file called amsamplesilent. You have to fill the values in this file and then use
    ./amconfig -s amsamplesilent
I believe for a redeploy you have to set DEPLOY_LEVEL to 21, not sure here, check documentation.
I personally usually do not redeploy for images and such, I simply copy them directly the deployed location.
Why http://.../amserver/console does not work anymore, I have no idea. But at least after a redeploy it should be there again.

  • How to deploye .war files in SOA_Server1 ?

    Hi,
I was created Auto Generated Task form for Human Task in 11G.After that how to deploye .WAR files manually in
"Infra -Soa(Soa_srerver1)" .Plz help me now

When you auto-generated the UI it would have defaulted to creating a web app project in your application. When you deploy the BPMN process, there are three steps in the wizard:
    1. Deploy Configuration
    2. Task flow deployment
    3. Select Server
In step 2 you can select some of all of the UI projects in the app and deploy them as part of deploying the composite. The build/deploy process will automatically create the war(s) and ear file. Once they're deployed, you can leave them un-selected to avoid redeploying them each time you just change the process definition. If you make changes to the UI, you can just select them again during deployment and select the option to overrwrite the EAR.
