Redirecting the DAD entry to a different Portal Repository.

Hi All,
I want to edit the DAD entry to point to a diffent Server. What all things should I do for this? Our Portal environment is as follows:
Server1 : Is Single Sign on Server and had Portal Repository which contains portal applications, content area and pages.
Server2 : Portal Repository which contains portal applications, content area and pages.
There is DAD entry on server1 which points to server2 and the applications on server2 are accessed through this DAD link.
Now I have a full backup of server2 on a different machine(server3). And want the existing DAD (which is pointing from server1 to server2) to point to server3.What all chages should i do for making this work, other than editing the connect string for the corresponding DAD entry. Also I would like to know the DAD entry settings are updated into what all files on the server or tables in the database.It is found that DAD Entries are updated into wdbsvr.app file on Apps server. Does it get updated into any other file on the server. We have Oravle Portal Version 3.0.9.8.3 on AIX.Pls help.

Hi Tom,
in effect you have just replicated your database with the portal instance onto server 3.
As such you should only have to update the dad connect string in Server 1 where I presume you are running your only mid tier so that it now has a connect credential pointing to server 3.
I am not too familiar with the 3.0.9.8.3 modplsql, in 9.0.2 you would have to restart the HTTP Server to pick up the DAD edit, in 3.0.9 this may not be necessary.
After doing this you ought to be able to shutdown server 2 and so verify that server 3 is being used.

    As far as I know the desktop can't be assigned elsewhere. The others can be directed with the respective programs. I always keep my documents on another drive. I do it by using the saves as command and point to that directory. Then everything after that I can use there. For Downloads you just change it in preferences in Safari. Switch it in the *Save downloaded files to:* command.

    Due to a certain requirement from the client, I need to redirect the logon page, immediately after the user authentication in portal.
    At present once the user key in the credentials, it is taken to the portal home page http://...../irj/portal.
    Now because of the requirement, instead of the initial home page, i want to redirect user to another page.
    e.g http://..../irj/KMdocument/....  .  I would be storing the new page location in KM of portal.
    Please suggest me a solution to redirect the initial start page in portal.

    Also a little more explaintion on the issue for all:
    User would you the link http://someadd/irj/portal... he would get the normal login screen, where he would enter the username and password.Once he has entered his credentials, he needs to be redirected to another html page or if we can change the initial screen windows features it should be fine.
    Please help me on this...

  • Multiple entries in the DAD file but one physical server

    Can someone confirm (point me in the right direction for documentation) that we can have multiple DADs on the same physical server. A typical situation is where there are separate LIVE and TEST database installations of APEX but the one apache server. So, how do I get the TEST and LIVE to have different DAD configurations, in particular the location of the images file ie the alais '/i/'.
    Our situation is a great deal more complex than my example above, as we could have in excess of 6 different APEX installations on the same physical server with each having to have a different location for the image files etc.

    Each dads.conf file can include several, unique, <Location> directives, according to your needs.
    As the aliases are being defined outside a specific directive, it seems that you'll need to use different alias to each APEX instance.

  • Error when redirecting the portal logoff page

    Hello,
    we have a problem in redirecting the portal logoff page.
    Our production system is a cluster environment -windows 2003.
    we have developed customizing page for portal logoff.
    when the cluster is in Node A the functionality of the logoff page is working fine and it is redirecting to the customized page.
    But when we shift it to Node B and logoff the portal it is not showing the customized page.
    We have referred the following note also:696294.
    We have added the portal logoff page is IIS services also.
    But when we shift the server from NodeA-NodeB the functionality of the redirecting is not happening and it gives a message
    you are not authorized.
    I appreciate any one response.

    What my error is "iam getting the logoff page redirected when the cluster resources are in Node1 but iam not getting the same logoff page when the cluster is nodeB"
    Ie we have developed a customising logoff page and set the page.When the services are in Node A the fucntionality is working fine.But when the resources move to NodeB iam not getting the customized logoff page".It says no authentication.

  • Songs for the same album are in different entries on my iPod

    First of all, this problem isn't caused by album name misspelling(or unknown spacing in album names).
    In iTunes, all the songs on the album "Black Holes and Revelations" are displayed together in one entry.
    However, in my iPod, the songs get separated to different entries. Some entries have 2 or 3 songs in them, some have 1.
    The entries for the songs have two different names. Some are listed as "Black Holes And Revelations" (a of and is capitalized), some are listed as "Black Holes and Revelations". However in iTunes, they are all listed as "Black Holes and Revelations" (no capitalization on the "and"). Syncing does not fix the problem, the songs of this album are omitted through the process (iTunes/iPod thinks that the album names are identical during the sync even though some of the "and"s are different.).
    There are a total of 8 entries for the same album. All of the album artworks of the songs are accurate.
    The iPod in question is a 160 GB iPod Classic

    The requirement is  to restrict the timesheet entry period (2 weeks) in the portal. ie the user should be allowed to edit previous or  next two weeks timesheet only.
    The r/ 3 configuration is done and in it is working fine in r/3. Please let me know if any settings to be done in portal

    @Siddharth: I remember we went over this a while ago but am posting it here for the benefit of a renewed discussion.
    The validation in the CATS User exit will kick in only when the user clicks on the Check & Refresh button, which I believe isn't user friendly. What if the user enters a bunch of entries only to realize that he/she shouldn't be doing so, wouldn't it be frustrating? I would rather expect the restriction to occur at a higher level, i.e. the user should not be allowed to pick a date that the business logic decides (could be 'n' pay periods going back from system date). As you we know, there are at least 3/4 ways a user can pick a date in the past on the Record Working Time Application.

  • Is it possible to incorporate a "Manual Over-ride" feature in FIM 2010? i.e. during a target sync, skip the MV entry.

    We are stuck on a FIM design.
    We have a column in our SQL feed table to FIM MV named "ManualAction"
    What we want to happen is that if this column has the value "YES" then FIM will not synchronize the MV entry to attached sources e.g. AD and FIM Portal.
    If we try connector filter-ing on column ManualAction equals YES we either disconnect and preserve the MV attributes provided or disconnect and nullify those MV attributes. This is not what we want.
    We want somehow to instruct FIM not to synchronize this MV entry if MV.ManualAction == YES
    Could this be do via a Rule extension somehow??
    The point of the Manual flag is that an Administrator may set one or more attributes in an AD account deliberately and does NOT want them overwritten by FIM even though the usual authoritative source value differs...
    What we are thinking is ... is it possible to instruct FIM to 'skip' this MV entry at target resource(s) sync time.
    I admit, I am not optimistic but I thought I could ask the FIM experts.

    you can do this for normal MA in some more and maybe granular ways.
    consider to sync the ManualAction also to MV and use this in manual precedence code of attribute flows in combination with lastwriter/contirbutor of the attribute.
    With this you have the manual attribute values from ex. AD also in MV and so in Portal.
    This is more granular because you can only have a override on the attributes you need while flowing other attributes by normal sync.
    Portal is a bit restricted as you can not control the provisioning and attribute flows with code. Whats in your MV will be providioned and exported to Portal 1:1 (if there are flows of cource).
    To have advanced flows on Portal MA you can implement a solution called replay MA.

  • Redirecting the message Max User Limit Reached to page

    Hi Gurus,
    We have set a user limit parameter in portal to limit the no of users logging into portal at a time...This parameter was set for each server node.
    Now as soon as the limit reached on any of the sap server, then that triggers the message to the new user that "MAX_USER_LIMIT_REACHED".
    We wanted to redirect this message/page to a different page where we say that user has to try after 15 minutes as the system is loaded now....
    Can Anyone help me in knowing how to get this message/page redirected.

    HI All,
    We have a requirement where we need to hide/disable certain areas from the "Overview" page of ESS in portal.
    In Overview page, we have certain links like Employee search,Life and work events,
    Purchasing and travel and expenses.
    I m not able to find these pages under overview workset also.
    We have to hide 'Purchasing' and 'life and work events' areas from the overview page as the customer dosent want to use this sap standard impl.
    Is the customiztion to be done from portal side or do we need to do it from the IMG??
    Can someone pls tell us in detail how to do it?

    It sounds like first you need to understand the Overview page and how it gets built. This all comes from the Homepage Framework configuration in the BACKEND (ECC box). Look in the IMG under "Cross Application Components" (or in the ESS section as will which actually has the same section) to find the configuration area. The Homepage Framework configuration however is also tightly coupled to the portal content (ie. objects in a portal role PCD path are tied to configuration "resources" in the Homepage Framework configuration). I won't get into all that, as there is plenty of material in these forums and documentation (help.sap.com) that describes the details of how all of this works. However, to answer your immediate question....
    Ok....so the "lazy man's approach" is fairly simple....in the IMG where you assign the Areas to the Area Group, you can simply change the display order number of the ones you want hidden to 0 (zero)....this will at least keep your standard entries in place....or you can just delete them from the assignment to the Area Group in the "change" step.
    Sooooo....that gets them off the Overview (Area Group) page. However, they will still be in the standard delivered portal role (for example, the worksets will still show up in the second line of the top level navigation). So you need to remove the worksets from there.
    Now, I call the above the "lazy man's approach" because in actuality, you should build your own custom Homepage Framework to your needs. This way it is safer, customized and you are not touching the standard, delivered entries so you can use them as reference later. Also, you should be doing the same on the portal side....ie. build you own custom role based on delta-linked copies of the standard objects (worksets, pages, and iViews). This might seem like a lot of work, but it is way more flexible....for example, if you need several different ESS "versions" to accomodate different types of users.

  • Can you have the same song on 2 different albums ?

    I would like to use the same track on 2 different albums.
    For example, one track on the original album and the same track on my own compilation album.
    One way would be to make two copies of the track and call them different names.
    e.g. UseSomebody1.mp3 and UseSomebody2.mp3, then these two tracks can be added to the library.
    But this seems a waste of space.
    I have an existing compilation album with odds and sods of my own tracks. But I want to pick and choose a few tracks from other albums and add to my existing compilation album.
    I know about playlists but this isnt the ideal solution either, because I have an existing compilation album already and I want the album to be in the main library (i.e. not have to go thru the playlist menu on the iPod).
    I just wondered if there was a way of having 2 seperate tracks in iTunes that point to the same file.

    Hi Momdipa,
    ABAP Table View does not support dynamic arithmetic operations. So, you can't achieve this business logic in the view. There are no operators in the view which can help you to do this.
    If you need this functionality, you need to create a ABAP Report to calculate the sum on the execution of the Report. And then you can update the View based on your own business logic.

    Please always post your System details when you have a query. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
    Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
