Redraw Masks Every Frame in Motion 3

I am trying to roto out a guy in a shot but, as you know, it takes a long time to move the point every shot. I can't use the track points feature because the guy is turning so the points keep disappearing. However, it seems to be really fast every time I redraw the mask (it's easier to just click points rather than find click and drag old ones). Is there any way to make it so I can just click to recenter the tracking points and then jump to the next one? Or maybe is there a way to redraw the mask every frame easily?
Thanks in advance!

Not much to suggest without seeing what you're up to other than add 1 pixel of blur to the dropzone objects.

  • Faster H.264 QT export without recompressing every frame?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a faster HDSLR workflow.
Is it possible to export H.264 .MOV without recompressing every frame?
On my HV30 I would export my HDV footage with File: Export: QuickTime movie with 'Current settings' selected. The export would take 1-5 minutes and give me fantastic quality because it would only render the edits and effects..
Now with footage from any DSLR if I do the same thing it completely messes up the exported movie. So I have to use File: Export: Using QuickTime conversion and select the appropriate setings. FCP then renders every frame which gives a perfect image but also takes about 40-60 mins of render time per 5 minutes of final video.
This is the problem - the render time.
Anyone know of any workflow that would eliminate the need to render every frame using canon DSLR's H.264 MOV files?
The best solutions and workflows will be posted in a tutorial my blog nitsantv.wordpress.com as well as nextwavedv.com (I'm a guest writer there) so any help here will be a huge help to lots of other DSLR filmmakers too. (Contributor's will get a link to their site/portfolio)
Please note that i'm trying to make a really fast workflow, so converting to ProRes before editing is not suitable.
I don't think the Epic I software will do anything to help with the matter because from what it says on the website FCP still renders from the original H.264 files when using this software.

  • How can I check the locV of a sprite on every frame?

I'd like to know how can I tell Director, in Lingo, to check
the position of a sprite in every frame in order to use that
position to set the value of a global variable. I want to avoid
having an on enterFrame script on every frame as I will need to do
this with various sprites all the time. I tried an on enterFrame
movie script but when I check the value of the variable with the
message window it's always 1 (I initialized the variable with that
value), regardless of wether the condition is being met on that
specific frame or not. I also placed an on enterFrame script on the
sprite and it would not work either. According to the
documentation, on beginSprite only works if the sprite was not on
the stage previous, and this sprite will always be on the stage,
just in a different locV when I need it to be.
    Any suggestions please?

Here's how you could create a single list containing all the
    locV values that you want:
    global gLocVList
    on enterFrame
    if ilk(gLocVList) <> #propList then
    gLocVList = [:]
    end if
    vSpriteList = [2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19] -- or other
    spriteNums
    repeat with vSpriteNum in vSpriteList
    vLocV = sprite(vSpriteNum).locV
    gLocVList.setaProp(vSpriteNum, vLocV)
    end repeat
    end enterFrame
However, it seems rather pointless to do this, as it checks
the locV of every sprite on every frame whether you need that
information or not. Since the sprite references are globally
available anyway, you would use fewer CPU cycles if you just asked
    for...
    sprite(x).locV
... (where x is a sprite name or spriteNum, or a variable
holding such information ) whenever you actually require the value
    of the locV.

  • How to view every frame, full res, in Viewer... settings?

Hi, We use a strobe flash to sync multiple cameras on a live shoot (DV, NTSC, SD footage). Since I began using FCP and multi-cam, I can not always find the frame where the strobe pulses. Is there a way to increase the viewer settings to view every frame in full res? I would only need this to find the sync point then adjust back to normal editing settings. Thanks.

In my ongoing HDV to SD investigations, I needed a view that was 1:1, and showed both fields of interlacing, and 100% seemed to be it - I think I just happened upon it, by trial and error.
Glad to be able to share though.
Some nice 100% view screen shots on my HDV page (shameless plug again)
    http://www3.telus.net/bonsai/Step-by-Step.html scroll to the end.
While on that subject, MPEG StreamClip is the only viewer I know of that does the same thing for the playback of interlaced MPEG's, you set the window zoom to match the frame size, and you get 1:1 interlaced viewing, aspect corrected on the horizontal, not the vertical.
FCP, for the longest time, used to aspect correct on the vertical (scale the height, while keeping the width 1:1) but this is not what you want for seeing fields at 1:1. I'm glad to report FCP5 now scales the horizontal to correct aspect ratio (when view as square pixels is ticked) and keeps the vertical, and therefore the fields, at 1:1.
Quicktime, and VLC both do field blending when viewing interlaced mpeg's, so you don't see the real interlaced footage. I actually prefer to see interlacing in computer monitors, especially if it is updated, one field at a time, at 60 updated fields per second - I think MPEG Streamclip does this - it might not though - its hard to fully see, but it looks smoother than the canvas / viewer playback, which is 30 frames per second.

  • How do I see every frame of a clip on the timeline in Premier ?

There are of course times when I need to see every frame of a clip to synchronize two clips. Imagine for example that you have a two camera shoot and both cameras were looking at a clapstick, or at a strobe. I want to put both clips on the timeline and zoom in to see every frame. Now I can align the two clips fo that one specific frame of each clip is over/under each other. However, when I have zoomed into the timeline it seems I can never zoom quite enough to see every frame What do I do to be able to zoome all the way in to the timeline so I can see every frame of the clips ? I haven't actually tried this yet with CC, but did with CS6 and it wouldn't do it.

I'm not knocking the idea of using the program monitor to place markers on sync points and using that to synchronize clips. It should be a very good solution.
What I am saying is that there are times when it would be advantageous to be able to see every frame of multiple clips on the timeline. When i first tried to do that I zoomed in and it looked as if it would display all the frames. I was dissappointed to find it wouldn't. As an editor who has done a lot of resynchronizing multiple camera shoots where there is no intentional visual sync cue, i can tell you it can be a big help to be able to see the frames as if we had a strip of film on each timeline. Sometimes we need to see several frames of each clip at the same time to make a decision about which frame represents the sync point, or to make the quickest possible decision about where to start and end a dissolve, or to chose which camera to use. In a scene shot with only one camera, there is no actual sync point. The action may have progressed slightly differently between shots. Being able to see 10 or 15 frames from each shot can help to make the quickest decision about how to line up the shots and where to do the transition. Would anyone out there say it would be a bad thing if Premier Pro could display every frame when we zoom all the way in ? It seems to me that it could only help. So i request Adobe consider it as a possible future improvement.
Here is an example, the last time i tried to see every frame in Premier. I had a scene I used Maya to create, series of Tiffs. This scene shows an object appearing as if arriving through a time or dimensional portal. The scene includes plasma popping and flashing. There are two different shots of the same moment in time. The shots are frame numbered. So if I could see the frame numbers from the original tiffs on the timeline I could align the shots that way. But of course I lose the frame numbers. The overall scene is too long, and rendering time too long, especially for 3-D 1080, to render each shot from the beginning of the scene, which would make synchronizing very easy. So i needed to sync to the flashing plasma in the scene. I though I had the shots lined up using a flash. It turned out they were not the same flash. So if i did a slow dissolve between shots, the flashes form each shot would not line up in time. What I needed to do is line up several flashes happening over a couple of seconds, so I coud verify the flashes were the same flashes. There are different numbers of frames between each flash, so if I got three to line up they would have to be the same flashes. I spent a lot of time trying to get these shots lined up. If I could zoom into the time line and see evry frame I could synchronize several clips by lining up the flashes, in just a couple of minutes. To do this with markers, marking say five flashes from each of four shots, it would take several minutes to do it before being ready to do the synchronizing. It's a workable solution, but is not ideal, a compromise.

  • Add 'channel' logo to every frame

    Hi,
is there a way to add a tranparent background image to every frame of my movie, as if it was a channel logo ?
I could build a transparent image of the right resolution with the logo on the bottom right. But how do I add it ? Ideas ?
    Erik

I have QTPro... How would you do that?
    1) Create logo in graphic application like Photoshop with transparent background
    2) Export as "Transparent Image" (e.g., with alpha-channel as in a PNG file)
    3) Open your edited movie in QT Pro
    4) Open the "logo" file using the "Open File" QT Pro option
    5) Press Command-A to select the "single frame" logo
    6) Press Command-C to store the logo in memory
    7) Activate the edited movie player (i.e., mouse click on it)
    8) Use the "Add to Selection & Scale" option to add the logo in memory to the edited movie and match the length of the added track to the length of your edited movie
    9) Select the "logo" track in the upper half of the properties window and the "Visual Settings" tab in the lower half of the window
    10) Set the "Tansparency" pop-up to "Straight Alpha" (Since the logo was the last track added it should be visible, but if it isn't, adjust "Layer" to a "lower" number to place it over your edited movie)
    11) I usually reset playhead to beginning of the movie, press Command-B to deselect in/out points and save the file as a "Standalone" MOV file.
And that's all there is to it...

  • I am unable to purchase my ibook as it says i don't have pictures on certain frames, but have pics on every frame how do i move forward to buy?

  • Time Lapse import creates new clip for every frame!

I shot a time lapse film - five hours reduced to 4 minutes ie one frame every 4 seconds. The iMovie Import wizard created a separate 'Clip' for every frame, (which is unusable), and then crashes the program every time I try to open it, I guess because there are too many 'Clips' to handle.
Is there a way to import these discontinuous shots as a single clip? If iMovie can't do it, any ideas on a better way? I couldn't get Quicktime Pro to do any better - it opened thousands of separate windows on the desktop.
Fortunately, the original is on DV, though each frame has a different time stamp on it.
    Thanks for any ideas!

    FYI
I found that iMovie 6 was able to handle the multiple files and I could export them as an MPEG4 file. iMovie 08 bombed big time.

My problem with Premiere Pro is that when I edit my projects the video skips all the time making it where i cant edit that good. I really need to be able to see what I may doing in real time without it skiping every frame. What can I do to stop the skiping or not least make it not so bad?

Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work

A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • Purging every frame whilst rendering After Effects project with Media Encoder?

    SOOOOO.
I am rendering with ACCURATE anti-aliasing on Vector files.
This causes rendering to crash if I do not purge every frame.
    IF
I want to render in background using Media Encoder,
    CAN
I get IT to purge every frame also?
Does it follow the project settings?
Or is this a different preference in Media Encoder?
    Thanks
    Tris

    > I never saw the point in multiprocessing either, why not just use all processors to do one frame at a time rather than splitting RAM and threads.
That is done, too. Different compositions benefit from different allocation of resources.

  • How to re align a layer to a composition every frame using a script?

I have a text layer in a composition. The text on the layer changes every frame. What I want to do is write a script that aligns that layer to the composition every frame.
If you need further info, just tell me. I need your help in this one.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but I think you are looking for a monospaced font. No script I know of will be able to determine the differences between kerning on a metric or optically kerned font to keep the characters all in the same position, but a monospaced font does this automatically. Try changing the font to courier and see if that solves your problem. If it doesn't then explain in detail and provide examples or screenshots that include everything you are having problems with.

  • Can you freeze a frame in motion?

Can you freeze a frame in motion so that I can use it FCP?

just as an add on the shortcut is Shift+N if you are going to use it alot. Also, when you make the freeze frame, the default duration will be whatever you have specified in your "User Preferences" Window under the "Editing" tab. I think 2 or 3 seconds is the default. If you're doing this alot you might want to be aware that you can change the setting so you don't have to fuss with trimming or expanding each freeze frame.
