Reds too saturated

Hi,
Any ideas please? I'm thinking of buying the tablet z2, which is gorgeous (!) but have a problem. Can the saturation of the reds be turned down? I have tried adjusting the white balance and turning off the x-reality for mobile, but the reds are so strong oranges appear as red!
Thanks
Guy

The only option is through settings > display > white balance

  • RED is too saturated on my monitor. What can I do?

    Hello,
    I'm using a Apple Cinema Display HD 23". I calibrated the display with the Leopard control panel but it seams that my monitor has a reddish tone compared to the monitors in our office.
    I runed the calibration process several times but still, the red color is *way too saturated*.

    Thank you Cmaig for your reply. Yes, I probably created a bit of a confusion with my 'reddish tone'. Well, the colors are ok, the red is just way too strong. If I create a graphic on my computer I have to boost up the red saturation in Photoshop by +35, so that the graphic looks the way I want on other computers (On my computer it now looks just red). I have to do that because my monitor displays the red too strong.
    BTW, I don't use any Photoshop color correction. I also see the same effect when browsing through the internet with Firefox or Safari.
    I also have a MacBookPro with Leopard. I also calibrated the display and the colors are the way they should...

  • CS4 Color looks too saturated on Screen?

    Hi all, not sure why but my color in CS4 Photoshop look oversaturated.
    When I view them with ACDsee viewer or Canon software they both look the same. But when I use photoshop the images look too saturated. It's not easy to edit my photos, as the out put does not look the same as when I am editing.
    Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance, awaiting any messages that may help out.

    What are your colour management policies in the Color Settings panel? And do you calibrate your monitor?
    You can get increased saturation -- actually ugly colors -- if assigning a higher gammut profile to an image tagged with a lower gammut profile, e.g. assign AdobeRGB to an sRGB image.
    (Note that 'Assigning' a profile gives far different results than 'Converting to' a profile.)

  • Images in Bridge preview too red and saturated

    I have used Adobe Bridge CS3 successfully for many years. Now all of a sudden all of my images in Preview appear very red and overly saturated. Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong?? thanks.

    I did ALL those things and the problem remains.
    Just to be sure about ALL, you followed the KB article with removing cache
    and plist etc also?
    Strangely images look okay in
    the "content" area but overly saturated in preview.
    Could you provide more detail about the file types you are using for this
    (maybe even provide a screenshot to clarify better) and OSX you are using.
    And are you using High Quality settings for preview?
    Do you think this means my Bridge is cooked
    No, I can't think of that, it must be a setting (or rather resetting)
    problem and should be possible to solve to my opinion.
     and i'll have to upgrade?
    That's entirely up to you, I can only tell you that Adobe has a 3-version
    upgrade policy, after this you need to buy a full version to keep on track.
    But you surely benefit from CS5 Bridge that is much faster and more stable
    then the CS3 edition

  • Exported photos are too saturated (reds especially)

    I use iPhoto to store all my photos and to do occasional quick edits.
    However, exported photos look so much more saturated than they do when viewed (double-clicked) within iPhoto, especially the red colors. This is also true when the photos are viewed from directly within the iPhoto Package file, and also when viewed as a thumbnail within iPhoto - the colors are much more saturated.
    Why is this happening? After editing my photos within iPhoto I can never export them the way they are meant to look no matter what I do. It seems as if iPhoto uses its own color profiling that is useless outside the iPhoto application.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is becoming more and more bothersome.

    I have trashed the Preview pref files, but to no avail. I have also tried the following:
    - I have tried uploading the image file from the finder onto Facebook and Picasa and viewed in Safari and Firefox. The images also look consistent (mostly) with the aforementioned applications!
    - I have tried viewing the images directly within Safari and Firefox by dragging the image onto the respective browser icons in the dock and in Safari it's the same Preview Saturated look (prob because Safari uses the same rendering as Leopard Preview), but in Firefox it looks like it does in all the aforementioned applications...
    - I have tried opening them in my WindowsXP VMWare using the default Explorer application and they look consistent with the aforementioned applications.
    - I have tried creating another user account on my Mac and logging in to preview the images, but it makes no difference.
    Any further suggestions?

    I need glasses, I don't see any change.The icon in your browser's address bar. Firefox usually displays it right before the URL of the current page and in right before the page tab title.It's still showing the Sun icon for me. I got a bit of a shock when I saw the Oracle logo all over the login screen, though.

  • Cmyk icon too saturated

    Hello,
       I don't recall working in Tiger that the CMYK icon preview to be over-saturated? Lion Icon previews of CMYK files are not accurate in color. I wonder if a tweak or preferrence can be applied to make the icon preview look more like the color space of the file?

    I figured it out. In Photoshop 5 in the prefs under File Handling, I need to check the "Icon" under "File Saving Options." The Icon preview matches the CMYK color space now!

  • Why do DNGs from my 5D Mark III look too saturated in Lightroom 4?

    I'm converting the CR2 files using the ACR 6.7 beta.  The files look fine in the Canon software (DPP).  My 10D images always looked fine... I tried using my Colorchecker Passport to generate camera/lens profiles, but that didn't help.
    Thanks
    Don

    The most common cause for distress about LR's colors is the monitor's color profile.  If you have not calibrated your monitor, give that a try.  It's really worthwhile.
    Also - are you importing the CR2 files into LR4?  If you're using ACR 6.7beta, I presume you're editing your images in Photoshop after editing them in LR4.  Do they look oversaturated in LR4, or just in Photoshop?

  • Colors too saturated when exporting to web

    Howdy.
    I'm having the hardest time getting colors to appear the same on save for web output as they do when I'm working on a document in Photoshop CS5.
    Right now, everything looks great when I'm working on it in Photoshop. And it looks good in the save for web preview window. But if I drag an exported image onto Safari or Firefox the colors looks very different from what I see in Photoshop.
    Any quick fixes?
    Also, what are the best practice colors setting I should be using everywhere in Photoshop assuming I use Photoshop for 100% web graphics?
    Thanks so much!

    Why aren't you selecting your calibrated display proflle in the list for each display?
    I'll tell you why, because you don't know what calibration is and have never done it.
    Back when everything I did was print-related I always had all my monitors well-calibrated. Not so much so as I moved away from print. And oddly, I've never had these weird color shifts on export before (I can remember all the way back to Photoshop version 2.0 in the early 90s...). Only since I installed CS5 yesterday am I seeing these weird color shifts.
    I have four displays connected to my machine, each a different model. I don't even remember setting them to wide gamut. I set them all to use their native profiles yesterday, and what a difference... for the worse in my opinion. Previously my blue desktop looked consistent across all four displays but now it looks like four different blues. And whatever document I'm working on in Photoshop looks more different depending on which diplay I drag the window to - looked much more consistent previously.
    I went from CS3 to CS5. I still have CS3 installed -- and as far as I can tell I have everything set up exactly the same in both versions. CS3 was exporting/displaying as I would expect, CS5 was not (when exporting as gif).

  • How do I lower the saturation on my W520, the reds are burning into my eyes

    OK, stupid question, I know, but is there any way to lower the saturation without lowering brightness? The colors are too saturated at brightness 14 and 15.

    Windows 7 itself does indeed have system-wide color profiles. You just need to get a proper ICM file.
    If you have the Intel control panel load at startup, it overrides any ICM profiles at boot/resume for whatever reason.
    Hit Start and search for "Advanced color management". Go to the Advanced tab, hit Change System Defaults.
    First add your ICM under All profiles. Then add it under Devices. Delete all other entries in Devices, and set your desired profile to default. You should see a change instantly. If not, go to the Advanced tab and check Use Windows display calibration.

  • Nikon NEF red's show to orange as Camera Standard color profile in LR/ACR

    I am using a D4s and the red colors in my NEFs in LR 5.5 show more orange.  They are not accurate and I am using Camera Standard or Portrait.  My screens are calibrated. I see a difference (more true) comparing with Nikon's native program.  Even in Capture One the reds are more true.  Am I the only one to see this in LR?  If I leave the file in Adobe Standard its too saturated and also wrong.  Why is it that I notice this more in Nikon files than Canon files in LR/Camera Raw (using 8.5 now)?

  • Using ActionScript to specify settings in the Hue/Saturation Effect

    Hi there,
    I have been trying to write a little action script that sets up a bunch of defaults in the Hue Saturation plug-in but can only get so far.
    The syntax either falls over or I am missing something here because the same code will work when in After Affects but if I try to run a script from the script UI directory. I get a "property undefined" returned. Uusally you just call the property by name and all is well. In this particularl case though. The only way to access say the "Red channel Saturation" is to have the plug-in in the Red channel pop-up. Ok so it works but not when running an external script.
    The following does work from within AE but not from the UI scripts directory via the Window menu.
    currProj = app.project(index).layer(index):
    currEffect = currProj.Effects.addProperty("Hue/Saturation");
    currEffectProp = currProj.effect("Hue/Saturation");
    currEffectProp.masterSaturation.setValue(20);//this call works
    currEffectProp.channelControl.setValue(2);//this call works changing the plug-in pane to the Red Channel
    currEffectProp.redSaturation.setValue(-5); //this returns: "TypeError: undefined is not an object" – yet when run within AE as an expression it works fine???
    Any help would be great – thank you

    "Max thank you for solving this for me."
    I still don't know what went wrong in your original code, so it's not really "solved" I guess!
    Anyway, about layer("ADBE Effect Parade") it's the same thing as layer.Effects or layer("Effects") but I'm never sure of what will work in a non-english version of AE.
    That's why I'm adding the Hue/Saturation effect using "ADBE HUE SATURATION" instead of "Hue/Saturation"
    So a useful thing to do is to create a script in the base "Script" folder, and write something like:
    var comp = app.panel.activeItem;
    if (     comp
         && comp instanceof CompItem
         && comp.selectedLayers.length
         && comp.selectedLayers[0].selectedProperties.length)
         var prop = comp.selectedLayers[0].selectedProperties[0];
         var str = "";
         while (prop)
              str += prop.matchName + " (" + prop.numProperties + "): " + prop.name;
              prop = prop.parentProperty;
         alert(str);
    Again, typing in the browser, check the code first ;-)
    Something like that will give you:
    - the matchName of the property selected (which can be anything: effect, shape, mask ... or any property of these)
    - the number of sub-properties of the current poperty (so for the Hue/Saturation effect, that will give you the number of controls of the plugin UI, although there may be some hidden ones too)
    - the name of the property
    ... for the selected property and its parents, up to the layer it belongs to.
    I find that quite handy when you want to know the matchname of an effect for example.

  • Spyder makes the color space too small

    Hello,
    I just bought a NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXi monitor which has a fairly large color space. Then I made a monitor profile for it using the spyder2pro. There is also an original icm profile for the monitor which I downloaded on the NEC website, and this one is distinctly larger than my spyder-made profile. I was looking forward to having a monitor which can display 95% of the Adobe RGB color space, but once I calibrate the monitor the profile doesn't even cover the sRGB space, it's simply too small.
    I saw the difference on a website called iccview.de (unfortunately it's in German) where you can upload your profiles and compare them to standard profiles in form of 3D graphics.
    Without calibrating the monitor at all I could see a lot of amazing colors, but it was also definitely too saturated and unbalanced, ecpecially in the reds. So does this mean you have the choice between a large color space but colors out of control on the one side - and well-balanced colors but smaller color space on the other? Is the spyder to blame?
    I use Windows XP Home and a GeForce 6600 GT.
    Thanks in advance for your time

    The color matrix for that device probably doesn't expect to be looking at a wide gamut display and producing issues in measurements. Also, NEC doesn't recommend this instrument (yes I know, the software supports it).

  • Pictures are tinted red when playing on TV

    Has anyone experienced and/or solved this issue? When playing pictures from the library (not streaming) they are all tinted with a reddish hue. This happened after a few hours of normal operation. I restarted the machine and it did nothing to help the problem. i checked all the cables, the component cables are set correctly.i checked the TV colour menu, and everything is set correctly. i set the machine back to factory standards and after syncing the library again, i still get that red tint.
    i bought this as a gift to a family member, but it's been more of a hassle than a gift...
    anyone has any ideas?

    Sounds odd.
    Do movie/video trailers look red too? If so I'd suspect a loose connection in the leads or a failure of the TV component input or AppleTV component output - can you try a DVD player or something with component output to see if it narrows it down to AppleTV?
    I assume the photos look ok on the synced computer - it is possible that the synced computer has a badly uncalibrated monitor and that the user has made the photos look good on the monitor which then causes them too look bad on a decent display. long shot that though. Is the famly member syncing from PC or Mac?
    Any chance the images are in some peculiar colour space which AppleTV isn't handling?
    Can you burn some images to a CD/DVD and display them via a DVD player - if so and they look odd it's likely to be the images.
    Any example images you can post?
