Aloha, all!
Heirloom biography typed by my Grandfather in 1913 on ltr-sized paper almost-to-the-edges is too wide to duplicate same-size for printing on 8 1/2 X 11 paper fror binding in a book. The text block must be reduced about 88 % to yield reasonable margins. Kinko's advises that best results will derive from my providing a CD for them to print on acid-free paper to give to the bookbinder.
As a newby, I have spent days searching how to do this, with either my Canon MP-500 or my dear Mac, with no success. I'm snowed, and in need of help, and would dearly appreciate some advice. Marchant

My task is to scan a 26-page biography which was typed virtually to the edges of 8 1/2 X 11 paper; resize the text block to about 88% when burned to a CD to provide attractive margins, and print the result on nice 8 1/2 X 11 paper for bookbinding.
I will pursue each of your suggestions for my education, but now conclude that the non-tech solution is to scan at 100% to a PDF folder, burn the CD, and have Kinko's use larger paper for a larger book. The type will thus not be smaller and less-readable.
I became immersed in details, when all I really want is five books containing my grandfathers life story, 10-4? I find that bookbinders will make any size cover one needs. Best regards and many thanks. Marchant

If it wasn't OCRed in Acrobat then you can only use the non-text commenting tools, like the Square or Polygon. Press Ctrl+E to open the Properties bad and you could make it look like a text highlight annotation.

If that doesn't fix your problem, try saving that "text" to a file and then viewing it in a Text program like Notepad or Wordpad that has ''' "wrap" ''' enabled. I would suspect that something with "wrap coding" in that file isn't completely with Firefox's ability to display text files and "wrap" when it needs to "wrap" to keep the text on the "page".

Document scanning in APEX

I'm working on an CRM/accounting application. One of my wishes is to use OCR or document scanning in the app. The idea is that a user is able to take a picture of a quote (using her mobile phone). The picture should be uploaded to the database and relevant data, such as quote number, amount- and account details, should be interpreted and stored in the database. The application will be designed for desktop primarly, but parts will be available for tablet/mobile as well.
What I want to know for now is:
- Does anyone have hands one experience with such a requirement and can you please give me some pointers/warnings for pitfalls?
- Can anyone recommend a proper OCR sdk? Open source is a must. I've read some mixed reviews about Tesseract.
- My first idea would be to convert the image to xml so I can use xmlDB for further implementation and storage. Is that a necessity, or isn't it that important?

Oracle 12c DBFS exposes a database table as a filesystem which can be "exported" as WebDAV or FTP.
Most MFPs can be configured to "scan to ftp". This works
an actual FTP client seems to not work, but if you PUT the file directly "PUT local /mnt/ftp1/dir/place/filename.pdf", that will work.
WebDAV is problematic due to Win7+ "secure link only" requirements. I haven't tried setting up a secure-WebDAV (secure XDB) yet.

You'll need to test making the call-out to see how long it takes.
You may have to do it as a background job.
Only other idea is to investigate how to integrate that process with Oracle Text Indexing.
I'm aware Oracle Text has an API to add your own "proprietary document format to series of text to be used for indexing".
In your case, this process would be the callout to the OCR.
I haven't tried any of that, but the theory sounds good.

nope. two different data types.
However, you can attach XML data to Image. DICOM (orddicom) is one standard.
You would be better off storing all the data in a table and using Oracle Text (with your add-on) to index the blob column

I have the following task: I need to translate a document into another language using ExtendScript. So, as "input" I have a document with a text/graphics/tables/etc. in Language_1 and a "somehow-separated file", which will contain data about translation into the Language_2. E.g.:
Some_text_in_language_1     Some_text_in_language_2
Some_other_text_in_language_1     Some_other_text_in_language_2
To get the source text from the document, I've tried to use this:

There is another way to loop through ALL paragraphs in a document, regardless whether they are in a table or in the main text flow. You can use the FirstPgfInDoc property of the document and loop through all Pgf objects using the NextPgfInDoc property of the Pgf until you reach an invalid object. Note that this also includes all paragraphs in the master and reference pages, so it might be useful to check where the Pgf is located (on a body page or not). There is a script on this forum that does that - I believe it was created and posted by Rick Quatro.
Working your way through the main text flow does not guarantee that you have all the visible text in the doc. There may be multiple flows and there may also be text frames that are placed inside anchored frames. Those text frames are not contained directly in the main flow of the document.

My client want the vendor invoice line item text(BSIK-SGTXT) to be captured in the corresponding clearing document line item text field(BSAK-SGTXT).
(i.e) The vendor invoice and its payment clearing document should have the same text in the document line item text filed.
According to me i can use a substition rule and a user exit to assign the values. but here comes a problem* i have one clearing document against 3 to 4 vendor invoice documents* so my programming logic has got stucked here? like which vendor invoice line item text the clearing document should pick up?
is there any other enhancements possible or can some one help me with the programming logic to be applied here.

Why don't you discuss the issue with your client? As you said, if you pay 5 invoices in a single run, the payment document item text can't carry all of those texts unless you use the long text. What is the reason for the requirement? Perhaps there's another solution.

What I am trying to do is link text at the bottom of a document to a page at the beginning of the document. I can't find a bookmark option adn when I clink insert link it only provides an options to link to a web page. Help! thanks

Bookmarks are missing (sadly) and with them, the ability to create an in document link.
I was looking for this feature in a Table of Contents. When you assign a 'style' to text in a document, you can Insert > Table of Contents. Then Pages will keep the TOC updated and you'll be able to 'link' from the page number in the TOC. (Not much help though, for the OP)

When you installed Pages v5, it automatically moved the older Pages ’09 v4.3 into /Applications/iWork '09 folder. If you want normal comment interoperability, you are advised to resume using the older version of Pages. Newer, is certainly not better with Pages v5.

In application area FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING , go for node LINE ITEM. Here create a step & maintain the prerequisite as per your requirement & in the check you can mention the code or you can direct it to a custom program like ZFI_RGGBR000.
Here while maintaining the check you will get structures BKPF & BSEG in which you will get the desired field you are looking for.
Just try to explore in your system how the other validations are maintained.
After you are done with all your code, you have to run the regeneration program RGUGBR00.
Here utmost care should be taken while running regeneration program, you should select all the checkboxes in the selection screen except GENERATE SETS, GEN SUBSTN ROUTNS IN ALL CLNTS & TRACE PROG. GENERATE CALLS .

Hi Friends,
We are configuring text determination sales document to sales document (ZOR to ZLR).
We have done following configuration:
1. text type - Z122 ( invoice text header)
2.) test determination procedure Z1. In text determination procedure Z1 is copy button is enabled. and access seguence 9122 is assigned.
3. text determination Z1 is assigened to text type Z122.
4.) text determination is assigned to document type - ZOR.
let me know what configruation we are missing here.
While creating sales order we are giving some description in header text invoice header but the same is not copied to subsequent document ZLR. ( debit memo request).
We are using this in Resource related billing.( RRB).
Document flow is
sales order ( zor)-internal order ( ko01)- Accounting document( fb01)- Resource relating billing doc ( DP91) we generate debit memo request from DP91.
We need the invoice text entered in sales order (va01) to copied in debit memo request ( ZLR.)
We need this at both header and item level.

Text in the document line item

Hi,
In COI, I am doing reclassification using document type.
System has posting the documents correctly, but strange thing is in the document header text, it was giving some text by itself.
Example of the actual text in the document header is as below:
"3B586AF9C74AF958DC4EFAB080B180B6D2E90F25"

You are correct. The text is coming by itself while doing Reclassification for dividend at PL 30.
Still confused why it is throwing some text in the document header..

Adobe photoshop cc crashes/ work area goes black when i try to insert text to a document ?

EBS - Auto posting not working if text behind the document number

Hi,
When the document number is at the end of the payment reference, there is no problem.
    However, when there is text behind the document number, the posting rule doesn't work anymore.
    The autoposting also fails when there is a seperator (like a comma) directly added to the document number.
-   In the posting rule for invoice numbers (BE51), it is able to find multiple invoice numbers and clear these together.
    We were expecting this posting rule will behave the same, so when a customer mentions more than 1 document number,
    it is able to find them all and clear if they fulfill the criteria (total amount of the documents matches the amount received).
    But because of 1st mentioned problem, system doesn't clear anything because of additional text present.
I am look help to solve this issue
