Ref import exported 8.1.7 oracle database including webtools procedures
Hello,
I was using an old 8.1.7 oracle database with pl/sql procedures with webtools.
Is it possible use them in 10g?
If yes. How?
Thank you,
Marius Darie
Hi,
One more thing: between 8.1.7 and 9i or higher, spatial index
creation has changed in the following ways:
-- in 8.1.7, scratch tables are created in user's default tablespace
-- in 9.0.1+, scratch tables are created in user-specified tablespace for spatial index.
The scratch tables are intermediate tables used in index creation.
I think the tablespace you specify as part of the index-creation may not
be having enough space to hold the scratch tables (along with the index table).
You may want to increase the size of the "tablespace101" and retry the import.
Also, check your temp space too. The documentation has guidelines for these sizes.

How to import a table from another oracle database ?
Hi all ,
i could like to use pl/sql to import one table from another oracle database server ?
is it possible to do this ?
A server B server
table: test <------------------------> table : newtest
the tns profile already configurated . the connection is ready .
thanks a lot !
Best Regards,
Carlosif i don't have TEST table on server B whether COPY command will create this table on server B with the same structure ? If you specify CREATE as a clause the table will be created:
SQL> help copy
COPY
COPY copies data from a query to a table in a local or remote
database. COPY supports CHAR, DATE, LONG, NUMBER and VARCHAR2.
COPY {FROM database | TO database | FROM database TO database}
APPENDCREATE|INSERT|REPLACE} destination_table
[(column, column, column, ...)] USING query
where database has the following syntax:
username[password]@connect_identifier -
Could I export and import my oracle database via Stored Procedure???
Hi all,
I need to export my database using stored procedure, the stored procedure will be called by java application and it works well
Now I still get the "BIG QUESTION", could I export and import database using stored procedure???
Really thanks for the response.
Regards,
KahlilHi,
I think you can use DBMS_DATAPUMP (10.1+), see [DBMS_DATAPUMP|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_datpmp.htm#i1007277], for examples see [http://www.psoug.org/reference/dbms_datapump.html]

Can one import .odarc extention file into oracle database
Hi All,
When we asked client for their production data dump, we got a file with .odarc extention. I googled to find out about this file extention and found info mostly referring to User Productivity Kit. I assume that this file cannot be imported in to oracle database. Since my knowledge about this is limited, I want to find out if it's possible to import this file to oracle database or not. If it's possible what's the work around.
Environment details
OS : Windows server 2003 sp2
Oracle version : 11.2.0.1
Please ask me if the info is insufficient.
Thanks & RegardsOracle can only process files created with :
1. Oracle exp (export tool) with imp
2. Oracle expdp (data pump export) with impdp
3. plain ASCII files with a column based format like CSV with SQL*Loader or external table
4. file containing Oracle SQL statements with SQL*Plus or similar tool.
Any other file type cannot be directly processed by Oracle.

DATA IMPORT from MS.ACCESS TO ORACLE DATABASE
I have an MS ACCESS MDB file , I to import all the Tables and Data into ORACLE DATABASE through FORMS.Because this file is on Client side, and maintain on daily basis ,so it is very hard to import manually daily through traditional ODBC method,for that our one team member busy all day with that issue.
Is it possible in our forms to import data from MS.ACCESS to ORACLE. I tried HOST command but it doesn't work.
Data structure and Table Name are same both is MS Access and Oracle.
We are Oracle 8i and Developer 6iLike i said in my previous post, the same steps that you used to do manually, you need to do it through forms, it's not that straight forward, you need to do lots of coding.
connect form to MS Access db read the data, and insert them into oracle tables.
Search the forum, there are solutions previously posted, and keep checking the online help .

Problem of Data Import/Export after migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g
We have encountered the following problem after the migration of Oracle DB 9i to 10g R1 and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3 to 9.1.
In our development server, a view was created by joining of one feature class (point feature), two attribute tables and one F table. We have to perform a process to export all the features in that particular view from the development server and then import them to the production server. In total, there should be about 60,000 points.
Form our past experience (using Oracle DB 9i and ESRI ArcSDE 8.3); we spent about 15-20 minutes to complete the import-export procedure. However, after the system migration, the speed of the import-export procedures is extremely slow, which is talking about 2 hours for ONLY EXPORTING 5MB data.
We would like to seek advice in solving the above problems. THANKS!Try to delete old stats, then gather new stats on the schema and try the export again.

Sending Long Raw Data to Oracle database through Stored Procedure
Hi,
I am trying to push data to Oracle 9i database through Stored Procedure via thin driver. It is going smoothly upto 29411 bytes. But it is not accepting for 53843 bytes and giving following error :
java.sql.SQLException: Data size bigger than max size for this type: 53843
Is it thin driver limitation? Can I solve it by using OCI driver? Or is there any other approach?
I tried creating connection pool in weblogic 7.0 through OCI driver. But I am not able to configure it. Is there any special way of configuration.
Quick response will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
SanjivIt happens to me. But I am using CMP of Weblogic 7. If you write your own jdbc code, the following link may be helpful.

Does anyone can help me to import XML string into a ORACLE database
Hi guys!
i have some problem that my friend wants me to convert XML string to Oracle relational database which means.
let's say, there is a table that a row has XML string.
so table has XML string with varchar type.
what my friend want me to do is, the string needs to be solved as a relational database.
like
A table has 'ID', 'data', 'result' rows
and Data column has XML string like <?xml version...............>
then wants to convert that data column's XML data into TABLE B with structure normally XML has.
i'm so confused and have no idea at all.. also i couldn't find any solution related to my stuff..
if someone knows how to solve the problem, just let us know
thxThe database is 10.2.0
What sort of example do u want me to give you..
i thought i give all information on the post..
i will explain it
let's say there are 3 columns ID,Name,Code
Id = normal integer
Name= varchar
Code= varchar
and i need to conver that XML in the Code column into relational databases
the code column has normal XML code which is starting from <?xml version.... and so on
so does it explain?
please help me! -
Import project into another shema (Oracle Database)
I'm going to import project which use schema of local database. Is there any quick solution to change this schema to remote database without another mapping datastore in interface?
Yes your understanding is correct. No need to touch the interface/models/datastores/logicalschemaname etc.
You just need to make sure that the table name and structure of your remote database must be same as the local database.
Thanks

Hi, After I applied the 5 patch to oracle 9201 on Win XP the export utility has started to complain about
EXP-00008: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
EXP-00024: Export views not installed, please notify your DBA
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
And after I applied catexp.sql script, it didn't fix the issue with export, the error message has become like this:
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 31600 encountered
ORA-31600: invalid input value EMIT_SCHEMA for parameter NAME in function SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 105
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA_INT", line 3926
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA_INT", line 4050
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA", line 836
ORA-06512: at line 1
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
Can someone advise, what's wrong with it? With oracle 9.2.0.1 export worked fine, after upgrade to 9.2.0.5 it fails every time it gets to the table data export stage.
Thanks in adviseIt seems that you have found an answer in other forum :

ThanksHi,
Below Anonymous block Exports the 'HR' schema:
DMPDIR -- Directory object where you want to create the dmp files
DECLARE
l_dp_handle NUMBER;
l_last_job_state VARCHAR2(30) := 'UNDEFINED';
l_job_state VARCHAR2(30) := 'UNDEFINED';
l_sts KU$_STATUS;
BEGIN
l_dp_handle := DBMS_DATAPUMP.open( operation => 'EXPORT', job_mode => 'SCHEMA', remote_link => NULL, job_name => 'SCHEMA_EXPORT', version => 'LATEST');
DBMS_DATAPUMP.add_file( handle => l_dp_handle, filename => 'SCHEMA_EXPORT.dmp', directory => 'DMPDIR');
DBMS_DATAPUMP.add_file( handle => l_dp_handle, filename => 'SCHEMA_EXPORT.log', directory => 'DMPDIR', filetype => DBMS_DATAPUMP.KU$_FILE_TYPE_LOG_FILE);
DBMS_DATAPUMP.metadata_filter( handle => l_dp_handle, name => 'SCHEMA_EXPR', value => '= ''HR''');
DBMS_DATAPUMP.start_job(l_dp_handle);
DBMS_DATAPUMP.detach(l_dp_handle);
END;
Now you can use this dmp file to import the 'HR' schema in the required database.
Below Anonymous block imports the 'HR' schema:
DECLARE
dph NUMBER;
BEGIN
dph := dbms_datapump.open(operation => 'IMPORT', job_mode =>
'SCHEMA',job_name => 'SCHEMA_IMPORT');
dbms_datapump.add_file(handle => dph,filename =>
'SCHEMA_EXPORT.dmp', directory => 'DMPDIR',filetype=>1);
dbms_datapump.add_file(handle => dph,filename =>
'SCHEMA_IMPORT.log',directory => 'DMPDIR',filetype=>3);
dbms_datapump.start_job(dph);
dbms_datapump.detach(dph);
END;
