Refill safety stock based on a certain leadtime

Hello,
is there a way to refill / replenish your safety stock based on a certain leadtime ?
as now MRP requests to get in components today or in a week , while they have a leadtime of several weeks.
for example :
i have put a fixed safety stock of 300 pcs on a component.
This component has a leadtime of 5 weeks
i received an order for 50 pcs to be delivered in 1 week.
So we ship this from our safety stock.
Now MRP is creating demand to get 50 new pieces of this component to be delivered in 1 week ( to fill up again the safety to 300 pcs )
But i would like that MRP asks to order this component on the leadtime of 5 weeks
As it will not be possible to get this component in on 1 week.
best regards

Thanks Avinash for your reply,
i also noticed that safety stock gets the highest priority demand and that's probably why i couldn't find a solution using safety stock.
Is there an other way how i should handle this?
Is there a way where a replenishment in oracle is done based on leadtime?
as i mentioned before, i want to get my stock automaticly replenished based on a component/product leadtime when i get under a certain stock level.
I'm currently thinking to change the planning to min-max planning or reorderpoint planning and as soon as my stock comes under the minimum level,  oracle will propose to refill the stock. But also here i don't know if oracle will use the leadtime to create new demand.
i still need to test this.

  • Forecasting Based Planning with Dynamic Safety stock Calculation?

    Hi Guys:
Based on the client requirement we are going with forecast based planning i.e based on Sales historical data , rather then buyer determining how much amount of safety stock need to be maintained ,
Can system calculate/propose safety stock based on lead time and service levels set for that particular material?.
how to load historical sales data into the system before go Live , so when they run MRP Run ( using forecast based Planning ) -> Planning orders>PO are triggered? or is there any alternative ?

    Hi.
Range of coverage profile in material master MRP2 view
The range of coverage profile contains the parameters for calculating the dynamic safety stock. This is a statistical calculation on the basis of average daily requirements.
    Use
The dynamic safety stock is calculated depending on the requirements within a specified period and the range of coverage.
    Dependencies
The range of coverage profiles (period length for calculating the average consumption, range of coverage, and so on) are maintained in Customizing in the MRP screen.
SPRO>MM>CBP>MRP CALCULATION>Define rage of coverage profile
    or
Production>MRP>MRP Calculation>Define rage of coverage profile

  • Dynamic Safety stock calculation based on Future Requirements

    Dear All PP experts
Our company wants to calculate the Dynamic Safety stock based on requirements in future period. Based on Standard SAP, it calculates dynamic stock based on current period only. So is there any way to do that. We are using MRP type PD.

Use MRP type VM(Automatic reorder point plng) for Dynamic safety stock calculation.
Also you can use coverage profile calculating dynamic safety stock.
Use Tcode OMIA to define the coverage profile.
For example if you  have defined a minimum range of coverage of 3 days, a maximum range of coverage
of 7 days and a target range of coverage of 5 days.
    The system calculates the following:
    Minimum stock level = 3 x 15 pieces = 45 pieces
    Maximum stock level = 7 x 15 pieces = 105 pieces
    Target stock level = 5 x 15 pieces = 75 pieces
The available quantity is 40 pieces and is therefore less than the minimum stock level. Therefore, the system creates a procurement proposal for 35 pieces (= target stock level 75 pieces u2013 actual quantity of 40 pieces) during the planning run.

  • Safety stock and safety period

Can anybody help me in understanding the effect of safety period in MRP..
CAn anybody give me an explanation with numbers so that i could test and understand..
    Please help me out..

    Dear
There are plenty of earlier posting on Safety stock and safety periods .
Safety Stock : This is one kind of Un-restricted stock which will be used to full fill the un-expected damand for any material apart from the normal stock .Safety Stock calcuation depends on requireiment .It can be pre-defined ( manual safety stock -MRP3 view-Safety Stock ) or Automatic Safety Stock based on the MRP Type set up in OMDQ.If you want automatic safety stock , then it will calcuated based on Forecasting view parametrs , forcast model , MAD, BASIC value calcualted wheil excuting Forecasting collectively or individually .
Safety Stock Calcualtion happend based on following CONDITION :
1.MRP type should be Forecast Base MRP -VV,VB,VS,V1,V2.Here MRP type calculates the Automatic Safety stock based on the Forcasting View Maintained in MM02 with proper Consumption History .( 261,501 etc update control in MMR through OMJJ set up --Please check MMR Forcasting View -Cosnumption Histry at least 6 months are there or not ?)
2.In MRP Type -SPRO-MRP-Check MRP Type -Select any one of the MRP Type like VV , you will find that Calcualtion of Reo-Order Point and Safety Stock Check Box Ticked .Based this set up and above Forcasting view , safety Stock will be calcualted with certain formaul .Here in the Material Master MRP3 view u need to maintain Service Level Percentage of that Material whcih will be consideredr as Service level factor to calcvualte the Safety Stock automatically based on the MAD and Basic Values calcualtion in Forcating View Individually (MM02) or collectively in MP38 .
Hope this above facts will help you to understand the calcualtrion of Safety Stock .
    Formula : Safety Stock = R x Sq.rt. W x MAD
    Safety Stock = R x W x MAD

  • Dynamic Safety Stock and Calculate based on past consumption

    Hello experts,
I have set up my coverage profile in configuration for dynamic safety stock.  However, the value is going off of the current net requirements in the system.  How do I set it up so that the target stock level (DSS) is determined by 30 days of our past consumption and so many days of near future requirements?
I assume I need to set up the MRP 3 tab in a specific way.  These materials that will be using dynamic safety stock are not forecasted, therefore, the material master had PD as MRP type (not VM or VV as discussed for setting DSS with forecasted materials), lot size of DY, and the coverage profile.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Hi the configuration should be like this..
First Create range of actual coverage profile SPRO and enter the following data.
    Period Indicator - M
    Number of Periods - 2
Type of Period length - Working days
Number of days per period - 30
Range of coverage in the first period - target - 30
Then assign this profile to the material in MRP3 screen in the field range of coverage profile field.

  • How to make MRP run based on Target Safety stock

    Dear Experts,
For our MRP-planned materials with safety stock we would like MRP run to take into account  target stock level defined for each month.
    for example: we know the target stock level values will be for M1 = 1000, M2 = 0, M+3 = 5000 etc.
MRP should then propose orders to replenish up to the target stock level at the end of each month:
needs for current month = (target stock level defined for current month  minus safety stock)
needs for M1 = (target stock level defined M1 minus safety stock)
needs for M2 = (target stock level defined for M2 minus safety stock)
    etc
Do you know if there is any simple way to achieve this?
    Thanks you!
    Elynn

    Dear Experts,
in my company, we are facing exactly the same issue,  we would like the MRP to consider a target stock exaclty as described by Elynn.     To be more clear, if we could reproduce the TDSS like in SNP in MRP, we'll be happy !.
We imagine already to manage the target stock level in APO DP and released into ECC6 as a different MRP element than Forecast.  this target stock should not be considered as forecast neither consumed by any sales order.   Only to force the MRP to generate planned orders to increase the final stock when needed.  This is only an idea, we have nothing tested yet.
someone have an idea if there's a standard solution for make this ?  I mean, why this fonctionality exist in SNP but not in MRP?
    thanks for any help

  • Dynamic Safety Stock - Custom logic

    Hi,
Are there any exits / enhancements where we can build customer specific logic to periodically update Safety Stock values in the Material Master (MRP Area)?
    Thanks.
    Raj

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
We want to maintain a Minimum Stock Level at various Storage Locations periodically. However the value is computed based on certain historical values (and not mere consumption). There is an industry logic which will compute this figure.
We need to find a solution to compute this figure as per logic and use it in MRP for planning along with other requirements (such as Reservations, Customer Orders, Forecast etc.,). Since the count of parts and associated historical values are quite high, computing this offline is tedious.
Is there a better way to address this without Z - Devpt.?
I can provide any other info if reqd.
    Thanks.

  • Automatic Safety Stock

    Hi Experts,
Currently MRP type is PD & Planning is make to order for finished goods.
I have requirement, wanted system to calculate safety stock automatically based on consumption value for Raw material.
Material should be further Planned in the same way, But if stock falls below safety stock , it creates a Purchase requistion.
System should calculate the safety stock rather than Manually entered.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vivek Kumar

    Hi Robert,
I don't know whether this will suffice your requirements, but actually it sounds like "Dynamic Range of Coverage".
It is like you want to keep the stock of certain materials as safety stock (coverage of requirements in exigencies) for certain number of days, weeks etc.
For example, one material has got average consumption (depenedent on main requirement of parent materials) requirements of 50 pc. per day and you want to keep a supply of 3 days in hand to cover unforeseen reqmnts, then based on this consumption pattern system will automatically calculate 50 * 3 = 150 pc. extra as safety stock, often called Dynamic Safety Stock.
As & when the main requirements change for parent materials, the depenedent requirement also changes, and hence the dynamic safety stock. For example, if the demand has increased such that average consumption per day comes out to be 80 pc., then calculation of safety stock will be 80 * 3 = 240 pc. extra (as you always want to cover 3 days requirements).
If this is your requirement, then try configuring this feature by creating suitable profiles for Range of coverage (depending on certain groups of materials, like for some you want to get coverage for 2 days, some for 5 days, some for 1 day and so on). And assign the suitable profile to corresponding material master. This will work with normal PD type of MRP without any tweaking.
Reply whether it worked for you.

  • Deployment - Safety stock

    Hi expert,
I wanted to know How ATD( available to deploy) will be caluclated. Is there any settings which we have to make to consider ATD = Stock on Hnade - Safety stock.
    Ex :  Stock is 110
    Safety stock : 10
    Result i want is
    ATD = 100.
When we run deployment it should take 100 has input to deployment( Excluding Safety stock).
Please suggest any solution, This is Urgent requirement
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
ATD quantity is calculated based on the category group defined at location or product location level in the ATD Receipts field in the ATP or SNP2 tab respectively, product location will overwrite value defined at location level. If you dont define any category group it will take default category group ATR to calculate the ATD quantinty.
If you want specific categories only to be available for deployment you should create a custom category group with the required categories and populate it either at location or product location level as per your requirement.
The Macro reads this category group and populates the ATD Receipts field in Planning book (this quantity is used for deployment) depending on the category and quantity available.
Their is no standard setting by which you can reduce the Safety stock quantity from the ATD quantity directly, you need to do certain customizations to modify the ATD quantity.
You can either reduce the Safety stock directly from the ATD quantity using the Macro functionality which I think is very difficult or you can put the quantity equivalent to Safety stock in the ATD Issues using development in Macro which i think should be the correct way to achieve your objective as this is the standard behavior in SAP.
Once you put the quantity equivalant to safety stock in ATD Issues it will reduce the ATD quantity by corresponding value.
Only check I think you need to build is that the ATD quantity is greater than Safety Stock before reducing the ATD.
    Thanks,
    Sanjog

  • Safety stock Warning message ?

    Hello Friends,
Need some help in creating a new functionality,Currently our customers can order a large quantity for any given material.  There is no check in place that warns the customer service rep (CSR) that this will stock us out or that this order is 1-2 times our safety stock.  I would like to get a function in SAP so that at order entry, if a CSR enters a quantity that is more than 50% of our safety stock, they will receive a warning stating that this could wipe out the inventory for other customers.
I would like to be able to set-up this functionality for a certain set of materials that have safety stock and that are active and high-volume materials.
Please advice what configuration changes needs to be done in order to fullfill this requirement.
    Thanks in advance.
    MO

    Hi Mohammed
there are no configuration changes. I hope the following would work.
    1. How do you identify high volume materials.
    2. How do you identify Active materials.
You must find a way to do these or choose some field in the material master for which this check needs to be performed.
Once this is done you can write code in MV45AFZB to perform the check at VBAP level.
    Thanks

  • Maintain plant specific safety stock

How to maintain plant specific safety stock for the same material.

    Hi swetha
    First Go to T : code : MM02 : change Material
Enter plant number for which u want to enter Safety stock
    Goto MRP-2
    Net Requirement calculation
    enter safety stock
    Use of safety stock :
    Safety stock
Specifies the quantity whose purpose is to satisfy unexpectedly high demand in the coverage period.
The risk of shortfalls is reduced by having a safety stock.
    Procedure:
With manual reorder point planning, you can enter a value in the material master record. However, it is merely for information.
With automatic reorder point planning and forecast-based planning, the system determines and adjusts the value automatically for forecasting purposes.
    Hope ths solve ur problem
    please reward points

  • Issue with -ve safety stock not allowing items of smaller demand to be isue

We have a material with  a safety stock value of 300 with only 119 available in inventory.  Looking at MD04 the available qty immediately goes negative (-181). We have requirement of 30 but was prevented by the system from ussing the material - no iventory available message.  The workaround, which is not acceptable, was to reduice the safety stock to zero, create the delivery and then re-instate the safety stock level back to 300.
So the issue is that  material could not be issued to PrdOrds.  Is there a possibilty that we have some missing config / master data settings that are preventing the issuing of material when safety stock is factored in and available quantity is less than zero?

From planning perspective, there are two options available for your scenario.
You may try if the dynamic safety stock works for you. You may have to configure the minimum, maximum  and target stock levels. The system calculates the average daily requirements of the material and determines the proposals.
If your business process demands only static ss, you can configure the % share of ss that can be used for smaller requirements. Check the config node Production >> MRP >> Planning >> MRP calculation >> Stocks >> Define SS availability. This way the smaller requirements would be considered for use from SS by planning. You will have to define the % share of SS that can be used by planning based on MRP groups.

  • Dynamic Safety Stock Calculation

    Dear All,
We have set Dynamic Safety stock for finish good.
Below is the screen snap for Coverage profile for your reference,
After MRP we have get results as shown in below screen,
Also find Monthly results for the same in below screen,
Can anybody who has worked or Dynamic Safety stock please explain the calculation in detail for this scenario.
    Thanks,
    Narresh

    Hello Naresh
Regarding the coverage profile calculation, I'd like to ask you to go through the following notes, which explain the range of coverage usage in MRP in detail:
217144  - Range of covrage calc. w/ range of coverage profile
217080  - Documentation: range of coverage in MRP
Let me explain to you in more detail the range of coverage calculation during the MRP run.
Calculating the range of coverage serves to determine a dynamic safety stock level based on current requirements. Statistical, in this context, means it is not the actual requirements that are taken into account, but the average daily requirements within a defined period that are calculated by the system.
MRP will execute the following procedure:
The system calculates the average daily requirements using theparameters defined in the range of coverage profile
The system reads the defined ranges of coverage in the range of coverage profile and calculates the minimum, maximum and target range of  coverage (see Calculating the Minimum, Maximum and Target Stock Level and Values of the Statistical Range of Coverage Calculation). Thetarget  stock level represents the safety stock level.
System checks for every MRP element whether the available quantity is below the minimum stock level. If stock falls below the minimum stock level due to a requirement, the system creates a procurement proposal and thus calculates the procurement quantity, so that the available quantity is replenished up to the target stock level.

  • Safety stock alert

If total stock of a material goes below safety stock user can get a message at inbox as an safety stock alert...
How can be the scenario configured????????
    Please suggest mmmmmme.......

    Dear Subhjit,
You can get a mail whenever you stock goes below a defined limit with the help of Early Earning system.
Here you can define certain characterstics with predefined conditions like Stock < 1000 Kg, and whenever those conditions comes automatically a mail goes to Id given in follow up section.

  • Independent requirements within dynamic safety stock policy

    Hi Community,
I was wondering if we can setup a dynamic safety stock (coverage profile) without using consumption based forecasting? Our forecast is provided through the SCM DP. If yes, which MRP type should we use?
    Many thanks for any feedback,
    Noël

    Hi Noel
Yes, it is possible to use a coverage profile without consumption based forecasting. You can use an MRP type with MRP procedure, such as PD.
See my answer on the following thread for more details about the coverage profile logic on MRP:
