Refresh Excel data/charts reports in sharepoint

Hi all,
I created an Excel report with some Pivot Charts, starting from a
Sharepoint list data.
The Excel is saved in a document library of the site.
The aim is to keep Excel data/charts updated with the values of the corresponding
list.
When I open the Excel with Excel Online and click on "Data" - "Refresh all", I see no updates.
Anyway, if I export the Excel on my pc and click on refresh data, I can see the updates.
Any solutions? Thanks in advance

You can't refresh the SharePoint List data in Excel this way. I thought you are using SharePoint server then you need to configure power pivot for your form after that you can get the Odata feed from the SharePoint list using the Odata source you can refresh
the data in excel online.

  • Excel Workbook with Excel Data Model stored on SharePoint - daily refresh

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right forum but I'm hoping that someone here can either answer or point me in the right direction.
I have an Excel Workbook with an Excel Data Model.
The Excel Data Model uses SQL to contact our data warehouse and pull through data into tables.
We are storing the Workbook on a SharePoint site and viewing it using Excel Services.
The data in our data warehouse is updated daily and so I would like to refresh the workbook daily and remove the option to refresh the data in the browser.
Is this possible with a workbook that has an Excel Data Model (I've seen lots of posts that relate to workbooks with connections to tabular models).
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I have answered this issue in this thread that you posted in SQL Server PowerPivot for SharePoint forum, please see:

  • Refresh Excel Data in OfficeControl

    Hey,
I have seen a few posts about loading SAP data from an internal table and downloading to Excel.  But is there a way to refresh the Excel data without downloading?
Scenario:  User uploads Excel sheet into WD4A app.  A button is pushed on the Web Dynpro application and the data is refreshed in the Excel sheet.
    Thanks,
    Kenneth

The OLE2 functions in ABAP (which would allow this tight integration) seem to use the GUI to serve the OLE2 requests -
    [ABAP/4 OLE Automation Controller|http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/print46c/en/data/pdf/bcfesde6/bcfesde6.pdf]
so I don't think you could use these.
However, the OfficeControl UI element should allow you some sort of control.  Check the doco there - looks like you could do some pretty interesting things if you had a macro in your spreadsheet to allow you to do them!
Although from your question you seem more to want to be able to parse an Excel spreadsheet  from a download and then regenerate it with some fields changed - probably more a question to throw open to the ABAP forum

  • How to import MS Excel data into an exisiting SharePoint List?

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to import an excel list or excel data into a SharePoint List that has already been created? Not create a new list.
I know you can import a spreadsheet which will create a new list, but I don't want that because I have created columns already  that do calculations and such and I don't want to recreate them....
It can be either an excel or access list, but I want to make sure the pre-existing columns in still my SharePoint list.

    Sure,
Go to list datasheet view in IE
Open excel and copy the range
    Paste in datasheet view
If column range match and validation overcome, data will start pasting as expected.

  • Cross Tab export : Excel Data Only - Row headings are *bottom* aligned?

    Hi All,
Having a problem with Crystal 11 / BOXI.
I have a Cross Tab working fine that has four Row groupings (labels on the left).
In Preview mode, it looks as expected. Row #1 label appears on line 1. Row #1 label shows blank on line 2,3,4 etc until it is ready to change.
The organization of the Row group is further made clear by a nice box that spans multiple rows. The Row label appears at the TOP of this box as you might expect.
In Excel-Data Only format, there is a problem. (I saved, scheduled, and ran on BO XI Enterprise CMC console.) The Excel file shows the Row 1 labels without any box (that's OK as it is "data only") however the text is bottom aligned. So the first label does not appear until the final row of the grouping.
Same thing is happening with Row 2, 3 groupings, they are all bottom aligned.
It's confusing for the users who would expect the Row grouping labels to be all top-aligned.
I have searched the forums and support site and read all technotes. I also tried several things including:
Format Field for Row#1 Name, choosing Left/Right/Center horizontal alignment (where is the same for vertical??)
Within BO Enterprise, try combinations of options under Excel - Data Only : export formatting, maintain relative object position, maintain column alignment, use options saved with report, etc.
Any ideas? Is there a way to force a top-alignment programmatically, for Excel Data Only output?
    Help appreciated !

I found the answer to this question with help from SAP Support.
In the Cross-Tab Expert, Customize Style tab, click "Column Totals on Top".
Then, the Excel Data Only report will show the row titles Top-aligned for the row group.

    Hi,
From your description, I know when you open excel document and it pops up some error message regarding refresh data for a data connection in a library within SharePoint Foundation 2010.
For Excel workbooks that contain PowerPivot data, Excel Services returns this error if it submits a connection request to a PowerPivot server and the request fails. Excel Services cannot connect to or load the PowerPivot data. You could refer to this article:

  • How create animated power view reports using sharepoint list as a data source in sharepoint 2010?

    Hi All,
I got a client requirement to create reports using SharePoint List as data source. The report should show reflection depends on values changed (I mean animation).
I have heard about the power view/power pivot which does this kind of animations in reports.
Can someone please guide me on creating reports which shows animations
In power view/power pivot using SharePoint List as data source in SharePoint 2010.
    Thanks in advance.
    MercuryMan

    Hi MercuryMan,
Yes, Power View, a feature of SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition, is an interactive data exploration, visualization, and presentation experience.
It provides multiple views featuring tiles, slicers, a chart filter, and a number of visualizations, including cards, small multiples, and a bubble chart. So, we can use Power View to do intuitive ad-hoc reporting for business users such as data analysts, business
    decision makers, and information workers.
Currently, Power View report only supports two types of data models: PowerPivot Worksheet, and data models based on Analysis Services Tabular Model or Multidimensional Cube.
In your scenario, you can create PowerPivot worksheets using SharePoint List as data source, deploy the PowerPivot worksheet to a SharePoint Library or PowerPivot Gallery, and then generate Power View reports based on the PowerPivot worksheets on the SharePoint
    site.
To use SharePoint List as data source in Excel PowerPivot, you can refer to the following resource:

  • Need to export data from reporting server to SharePoint List

I have built a rudimentary dashboard using Excel and PowerPivot Gallery on SharePoint 2010.  I successfully exported the first dataset to a SharePoint List that I can access from my dashhboard, making it fairly portable. (Whoop!)  I've also found
that I can create a bunch of new lists.  But I have not figured out how to update these lists daily.
The most critical is an existing Odata connection:
DataFeed_2_teams-company-com IMData.  I am trying to update that list from the new report (.xls format).  After saving it as .xlsx then closing and reopening, Odata and the existing connection are now enabled.  But when I try to connect,
Excel tells me, "We can't use the data from this feed.  Make sure the external data feed server is available and that your connection information is correct."  The connection is available and I'm using the "authenticated user's account".
I really don't mind if the data is deleted every day.
    Any ideas?
    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Another thing I've tried is exporting the data through the Table menu.  But since the list already exists, I can't do anything with it.
    Adios, Clay Harryman

    Hi,
Do you have your Odata connection stored in a sharepoint list zo you can reference to that point?

  • Error When Refresh Formatted Data inside Excel Analyzer

I have build a Excel template and load up this to the BI Publisher Server. When I call this template after the log in works fine. When I refresh the data normal it works also fine, but when I try to refresh formatted Data I get the error "Error: This report does not support HTML as an output format." I will not use html output inside Excel, I will use the original Excel template with refreshed data.

    Hi Tim,
The Refresh Formatted Data works on MS Excel 2003.
May need to check if its really supported on MS Office 2002.
Btw another question, is it possible to create an excel template without using Excel Analyzer?
Also when I used the generated excel file of Excel Analyzer as template, when the report is generated the data sheet sometimes is not filled with correct data or sometimes there is no data at all, even if the parameters used is the same as the one used in generating the original excel file using Excel Analyzer. This happens most of the time for reports with Concatenated Queries or SQL Queries using "CURSOR" to group a set of data. Note that on initial generation of excel file using Excel Analyzer, correct set of data is displayed. It is only when it is used as template and viewed/exported in Excel format that data is not properly loaded.
    Please advise.
    Thanks!

  • Not having to refresh the data in the main report but only in the subreport

    Hi SAP,
I have a report that uses a stored procedure in the main report and uses regular database tables in the subreport.  The data returned from the stored procedure reports information from the month-end database (a cutoff point from the previous month's numbers) while the subreport reports information from the live database.  This report gets run everyday to show the changes in numbers from the live database.  Obviously the numbers from the month-end database remainds static until the next month's cutoff database is created.
My problem is that everyday when I run the report, the data needs to refresh from both the stored procedure in the main report and the live database tables in the subreport.  How can I leave the data returned from the stored procedure static or as is without refreshing the stored procedure returned data and just have the subreport data refresh itself?  The stored procedure really puts a strain on the database and I would like to cut-out the time to process the report as well.  Does anyone have any ideas?
    Zack

    Hi Zack,
Try the following under Report options.
    1. Clear the check box of "Verify Stored Procedures on First Refresh" in the Main report.
    2. Select the check box of "Verify on First Refresh" in  the sub report.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to refresh the data in sharepoint online

    Hi,
I have an Office365 PowerBI Preview site and I have uploaded a excel sheet with a using power query connecting the

while adding more condition fields and data fields, i feel its not showing meaningfull data.
can anyone explain how the condition fields and data fileds are manipulated by crystal report.
i am using CR XI R2 Server.
    Thanks
    Padmanaban V

i am using Crystal Report XI R2 RAS Embedded in my server.
as we can add any number condition fields programatically using the method
ConditionField.Add(FieldObj), i would like to know how these fields are manipulated internally by the RAS server.
that means, what is the significance of condition fieldobject 1, condition fieldobject 2,condition fieldobject 3 etc...
if i add more than two condition fields , RAS Chart Report always returns 0 as legend value for all legends.
    Thanks in advance

  • Excel Spreadsheet as Data Source & Copying that Data to an Existing SharePoint List

    Hello,
I have an Excel spreadsheet that I get daily and cut and paste into an existing SharePoint list. Is there a way to make that Excel spreadsheet a data source and copy the data to an existing SharePoint list with less manual involvement?
Tools at my disposal include: SharePoint 2010 Designer, InfoPath, and Access.
I thought there might be a REST method I could use via InfoPath but I'm not aware of any offhand.
Goal is to have a method to upload/overwrite an Excel file (stored in a SharePoint library), every day, and then automate the process of copy it to a SharePoint list (actually overwriting the old data in the SharePoint list).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
We can create a console application and use C# code to read the data from the Excel file and using SharePoint .Net Client Object Model to add the data into a SharePoint list, then create a windows job to execute the console application.

  • Upload Excel data to Sharepoint list VIA infopath form

    Hi,
I'll try to explain the process of what I want to do first.
    1. In Excel
I have an exceldocument (XLS, XLSX or XLSM) with 4 named columns and a named worksheet saved locally on my computer.
I want to upload this data into preferably a custom list in sharepoint but it needs to run via a infopath template first.
    2. In Infopath
The Infopath template will prompt the user to specify values in 2 additional fields.
After giving input to these fields user may browse for the locally stored excel document and upload the document.
In the same infopath template a dynamic array should be visible containing 6 columns (4 from excel + 2 from headerlevel of template) and the amount of rows based on the number of rows from excelsheet.
At the end of template a submit button is found for uploading the entire array into sharepoint custom list.
Is this possible to do at all?
NOTE! End user should not have to save the excelsheet as XML file nor do a XML mapping.
Infopath should, perhaps with help of VBA read excelsheet and transfer data to correct destination in sharepoint on it self.
    Looking forward to your reply

    Hi Jonas,
You can attach your Excel doucment into InfoPath form and send InfoPath form to a custom web service. Then you can parse the Excel data and combine the Excel data and additional fields into SharePoint list in the customized  web service.
