Refresh Iview with changed iView properties

Hi All,
There are two iviews in a page..
1) par Iview
2) transaction iview
If an event takes place in par file iview it should reflect in transaction iview also by changing the Tcode of transaction iview programmatically...
we have to display the same page with the new values....
is there any way to achieve this...

You can trigger client events to refresh iviews.

Our portal platform: HP-UX, WAS 6.40 JAVA, EP 6.0 SP14
We created an XML iview using XML iview template and configured the XML source URL with RSS feeder addresses such as"https://forums.sdn.sap.com/rss/rssmessages.jsp?forumID=41". And then select RSS to XHTMLB as the XML transformation format and save. When I try to preview the iview, I always got error "Error while using XML iview, please contact your system administrator". Here is the log and among which I found an error "java.net.UnknownHostException: news.163.com". Does this indicate that the Portal server is not able to interpret the address of the URL host?

Refresh Navigation with Appintegrator iViews

I'm currently working on migrating our existing intranet (using Lotus Notes as a content management system) into SAP portal. I'm planning to use appintegrator iviews to render the site content.
My biggest challenge appears to be to figure out how to "refresh" the navigation to keep insyc with what's displayed in the iview. For example, let's say you are viewing a news article about an upcoming company event under "News" page (in the details navigation, "News" is hightlighted). There is a link within the news article to go to a particular document with more detailed information on the event under "Event" page. When you click on the link, the particular "event" article appears, but the navigation is still highlighting "News" area.
I hope this makes sense to everyone. Does anyone have a brilliant idea how to solve this problem?

Here is one way.
If you want the navigation to "sync" when a link is clicked in one of your content pages: Create an iView to contain the content you want to link to. This creates a navigational node in the portal that you can then target. (Attach this iView to an appropriate role so that it appears in the navigation.)
From the page that you want to link to this page, change the href to the following:

Detailed navigation iview is assinged to Default framework page.
My suggestion is you duplicate the default framework page and can replace the detailed navigaiton iview with ur iview. Also assign this cutom framework page to your user id by display rules.

       You can attach your application to web Dynpro IView, for this login into portal, in the Content Management tab right click on a folder, then New --> IView. Select WD java Application. Select your application and create an Iview.

       Similarly, instead of selecting WD java Application, select iView template, you will get a list of available templates, and in this you will find template for Transaction Iview, in this template define the Tx for which you want to create the template.

      No, I dont think you can attach your application to transaction Iview. but, you can attach both IViews on single page.
4.> Can i display My application iview and transaction iview in single page ?
      Yes, you can attach both IViews on single page. Again in Content Management tab, crate a PAGE; Then right click on created IViews and select add IView to Page ßß: Delta Link.

How to set the screen size with nested Iview screen

Can someone show me how to set the screen size with nested IView screen.
at the moment i only try it with trial and error untill it looks somewhat close. Is there a property in VC to set the size for Height and width.
The same question is for the form. the form elements inside the form is easy but the actual form is still a challenge.

Call a Transaction iView with parameters

Hello,
can anyone help me with the following problem:
I'll just tried to call the transaction RECN with a transaction iView. When I test the iView it works but not with any parameters in the URL.
I'll tried the parameters fix in the iView properties but without any result.
Can someone tell me the correct syntax? I'll tried everything I can find in the SAP help and here in the forum.
Have someone a how to for calling transaction iView with dynamical parameters?

Page layout problem when using more than 3 iviews(with Tab Strip controls)

Hello Experts,
I am using MS Visual Studio 2005 and PDK 2.5 for .net.
I have created four iViews where two iViews are having TabStrip control which are dynamically added to iView.
When I add iViews to the page and view page ,I am not able to see the content of iViews having TabsStrip controls.
But I can see contents with individual iView.I am using 3 columns layout for this scenario.
I have tried all possible layouts available in EP.
How should I placed iViews in page so that contents of iviews having Tabsrtip control will be displayed.

Hi Sunil,
Try changing the isolation property of iView to URL(Isolated) from Embedded-->Save .Now assign these iViews to the page.

IView with Height Type AUTOMATIC

I have a Portal page with a 3 URL iViews. The iViews' Height Type is set to AUTOMATIC. When the page is displayed, all the iViews has the same height (150px). I've set the minium and maximum automatic height values as well, but they seem to be ignored. The iViews always have the 150px height. Any suggestions would be helpfull please.

Please check if the Fetch Mode of your iView uses the server-side fetch method. Because in this case, the iView will take the automated height size calculation. If so then change the Fetch mode to client-side method and try giving Fixed height type.
However using the server-side fetch method is advantageous for a number of reasons. Check out this link for details.

Perhaps you're looking for the Display State property of iViews:
Defines display state of iView/page in run time: Mandatory=locked in page; Visible=displayed in page; Available=hidden from page, but can be added by end user

Change iviews installed from a business package

Hi experts,
I'm working on EP 2004s and I would like to know if there is a way to change iviews installed in the portal from a business package using Visual Composer. Can I copy them into my own created package in VC?

Hi,
Usually Business Package iviews - especially the older ones - aren't based on Visual composer models but rather older IView technology. Therefore, it should be impossible to change them in VC.
I've heard that SAP may be considering releasing business packages (XSS?) as VC models but never heard any confirmation regrading this. Probbaly based on the support-related questions. I once blogged on this <a href="/people/community.user/blog/2007/01/30/enterprise-soa-explorations-fragments.

Client Eventing Problem with URL Iview

Hi,
I am new to EP and have a basic client eventing question. We are trying to integrate a URL Iview from a partner product with a standard Iview downloaded from Iviewstudio. This standard Iview is capable of handling client events from other Iviews in the standard package. We want to re-use this Iview with the same event (same functionality) to be able to handle events from the partner URL Iview.
The partner Iview and our portal are on different servers.
We are using the following Javascript but it doesnt seem to raise the event.
EPCM.storeClientData('urn:com.sap.bor:BUS0010','objid',LocId));
EPCM.storeClientData('urn:com.sap.bor:BUS0010','AllKeys','objid');
EPCM.raiseEvent('urn:com.sap.bor:BUS0010','select','','/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/...'
We were able to debug and find that the data was being stored in the Data Bag. However the event is not being raised at all. It seems that it just gets stuck somewhere in the Raise event. We even put a javascript alert after the raise event but it doesnt seem to reach there at all.
Could you give me a few pointers as to what the problem might be.

let's have a look at two quotes of the PDK documentation.
"Using the EPCF from your JavaScript, you can send messages to JavaScript code embedded in other iViews."
"Isolated iViews are iViews that are not inlined into a portal page, but referenced using an IFRAME. To make the EPCF available in such iViews, the EPCF JavaScript as well as the EPCF applet are included into each generated frame."
From my point of view, this only can work automatically with content provided by the portal.
Therefore, this can't work with isolated URL iViews generated with the wizards. Imagine a google iView, running in an iFrame. Google is called by the portal, but it's simply standard google HTML output - displayed in the portal.
To provide the capability of the EPCF, the epcf javascript file has to be included in the "partner URL iView"'s source. I tried this and it worked. However, this is not a highly sophisticated solution
If the partner iView's server is running in a different domain, there are further issues to be considered (keyword: java script origin policy)
If anybody has corrections or can provide a good solution, don't hesitate.

Extending MDM ResultSet iView with custom web dynpro

I built a MDM Result set(which is displaying fine), and a web dynpro iview to receive the events from the ResultSet and put them on to a page, added to a role and added to my userid etc.
But when I invoke the event from the MDM ResultSet Standard iView, no data is coming from the ResultSet.
Yes, I am aware that I need to make sure the namespace and name of the event should be same in the source and target iviews. I made sure of that.
The event is being invoked, for sure, but no data. (Because if I didn't catch, the target iView is throwing NullpointerException for want of parameter passed by the EPCF event)
EPCF event is reaching the target, but no data, what so ever.
I tried with different fields(Columns) of the Resultset, but no use.
I got a doubt. The client said, they used MDM 5.5 SP04 software for the Business Package, but MDM 5.5 SP03 MDM Connectors, and ofcourse the server itself is MDM 5.5 SP03. Does this have any influence in the problem I mentioned ?
Another issue is the naming of the event or the namespace. Are there any guidelines for that ? I gave the name and namespace to be "ShowItemDetails" and "urn:com.oi.ecat.mdm.epcfevent". Are these OK ?

Caching problem for iViews with URL parameters

Hi,
We have a big problem with iView caching.
Our objective is to use SAP Netweaver Portal 2004s & External Facing portal for a public Internet Portal
For performances reasons we need to activate iviews caching on the principal iviews. But the problem is that a page called with different parameters generates exactly the same html result
example --> The display of a news item:
/irj/portal/anonymous/index.htm?rid=/news_123.xml
gives the same cached result as
/irj/portal/anonymous/index.htm?rid=/news_456.xml
The caching level is "shared" because all users are anonymous !
The iview caching seems to be occuring on component (iView) level and not on URL level
Can someone help ?
At the moment we have performances of 10 seconds for a page, and with caching it's becoming less than 1 second, so we really need the caching !!!

Have you tried to put the cache level to "session" instead of "user" or "shared" at the iview level?

Integration with url iview

I have a web application and Portal and My aim is this two systems integration using url iview but I don't want to use Application Integrator.I want to use only URL iview with url parameters. My wish is to enter URL Parameter = uname(static) and Value = portaluid(This value should be get dynamically from portal).Consequently,How can I get dynamically portal userid in the url iview value.Is that possible?

Is there a reason you don't want to use application integrator? Because it is quite simple to create what you want using application integrator.
I don't think URL iView supports dynamic parameters...
