Refurbished MacBook Pro Mail app sends email responses to the previous owner

I bought my MacBook Pro refurbished about two years ago, and noticed recently that when I send emails through the Mail app, I don't get the responses. I quickly found out that, when I send emails through Mail, it sends under the email of my MacBook's previous owner, and so when people respond to these emails, they get sent to her.
I tried looking it up and I can't find anyone who's had a similar problem.
Also, just to rule out one option, when I go to edit the accounts in Mail, I have the mailbox under my email address. Could it be something with my Apple ID?Has this happened to anyone else?

I doubt you want just a pig-pile in your inbox.
Create categories like Taxes, Services, Friendly correspondence, Online Orders, Apple Discussions. Move the emails into the folders and they survive on your Mac.

  • Mountain Lion Mail.app Sends Email Several Times While Drafting Reply

Using Mail.app in Mountain Lion and the default configuration of Gmail via IMAP (as configured by Mail.app) when I reply to an existing message, Mail.app sends the partially completed email message several times while I am drafting the message, without me hitting the send button. This does not occur when composing new messages. I have not yet determined what is causing the message to send. My working theory is that it is sending the message each time a draft is saved to the server. Any insight on what is happening (or confirmation that other people are experiencing the same behavior) would be appreciated.

I have 4 accounts running, 2 POP and 2 IMAP, after doing some checking today with a mac engineer online, it appears that it is incoming mail only affected and only on the POP accounts. I had previously tried recreating the accounts but as from today even just quitting Mail and reopening no longer works... the engineer has had to exculate my call to a specialist who in turn has now had to send it off to a specialist team to work on. When I get results, I will post them in case it helps someone else.

  • Duplicate MIME headers when Mail.app sends email

Looks like Mail.app is sending two MIME headers:
    Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v928.1)
    Mime-Version: 1.0
Is there anyway to stop this?
I think it is what is breaking the DKIM signing for me. (Thunderbird, webmail etc works find sending DKIM signed mails, but Mail.app and my iPhone mangle the signature somehow).
    Thanks,
    James.

    Hi Tom,
Do you see those long headers when you initially receive the message?
If you do, then you can change that by going to Mail/Preferences/Viewing and change "Show header detail" to "Default" or "None". You can also customize what is seen in headers.

  • My Macbook Pro Mail App won't display badges

I have a mid-2010 13" MacBook Pro, running on OSX Mavericks. About a week ago, I noticed that my emails were coming in but my mail app wasn't displaying notification badges. I would have to actually reopen the app to see if I had messages. The app is currently running on the dock. I've tried restarting the app, checked the notification preferences, etc. I can't seem to find the solution. Maybe someone out there can help me?

Do you have System Preferences,Software Update set to automatically down load updates?

  • Mail app sends emails with headers in body.

I use Mail.app to access my MS Exchange account. When replying to the end of a long email thread, the people I send the email end up seeing the headers after references. I know it's possible it's on the other users end, but if there any way to fix this problem on my end?
An example of what is seen in the body of one of my emails:

  • Mail.app sends emails too soon

For the past six months or so, Mail.app has been sending emails while I'm halfway through composing them. I'm not accidentally hitting the Send button, or typing the keyboard shortcut. So I've no idea what's actually doing it. Is anyone else noticing the same bug?

I haven't seen it mentioned here.
Are your mails plain text or RTF? Are you using any apps or widgets that interface with mail (eg new mail announcers)? Does it always happen or only sometimes? What happens if you disconnect from the internet while composing?

  • Mail.app sending sent items to the wrong folder on server

In Mail.app, I have the following checked:
"Store sent messages on the server" (which copies messages to "Sent Messages" on the server)
"Store deleted messages on the server" checked (which copies messages to "Deleted Messages" on the server)
But when I use my webmail, it uses "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items" for sent and deleted files.
How do I set Mail.app to use the correct folders?

this is because Mail creates its own Sent and Trash folders on the server by default. they are called "Sent Messages" and "Deleted messages". a webmail server might have different default mailboxes for that. yours apparently uses "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items". You can tell Mail to use the same mailboxes as Webmail does as follows. select "Sent Items' mailbox in the imap section of your email account in the lower part of the sidebar in Mail. then go to Mailbox menu->use this mailbox for->Sent. do the same with "Deleted Items".

  • Syncing macbook pro mail 4.2 with Imac 3.6mail

I have trouble with macbook pro mail in that once I read the mail on it, the mail no longer shows up on my Imac. I am able to read mail on the Imac first, and it shows up on the macbook pro. The mail programs are different versions: macbook pro is 4.2, and Imac is 3.6. All settings are set up the same on both computers.
I'd like to have access to all the mail on both computers -- is this possible?

Who is your email provider? It depends upon how they are setup to deliver email to you. If you are using a provider that supports IMAP, then both Macs can synchronize email easily. What one mail client does when connected to the mail server, the other will see once they connect and pick up changes.
If your provider uses POP3 then it's more difficult. Mail clients using POP3 to get their email don't sync very easily. The reason is that when one mail client downloads email from the mail server using POP3, it then deletes the email that it just downloaded off the server. The other mail client connects later and doesn't see the emails because the first email client deleted them after downloading them.
The main difference between IMAP and POP3 is that mail clients using IMAP leave the mail on the server, even after you've read it. The only time it's deleted is when you choose to delete it.
Now, if you're using an email service using something other than IMAP or POP3 to deliver email, then you should say so in a reply.

  • I have bought a second hand ipod 4, but it has the previous owners details all over it, for example it has her email address when trying to update facebook.  How do I update it with my email address?

I have just purchased a second hand ipod touch 4.  The previous owners details are still in it, so for example when I try to update the facebook app it asks me for the previous owners password, and shows the previous owners email address.  How do I change it all to my details?  I have already synced it with itunes and all of my music is now in it, and it's also renamed on the itunes page when I attach the ipod to my PC.  I've also been in to the 'info' page, 'Advanced' and then 'Replace information on this ipod with mail accounts from this computer' then finally 'apply', but it still has the other persons ID.

I've answered my own question!  I now understand that you can't use apps as they are always going to be linked to the original owner.  I've since deleted the app and downloaded it again, and all is now well!

  • I've updated my Macbook Pro and my iMac with Maverick, updating the various apps. On my Macbook, everything functions perfectly. On my iMac, I get the Your System has Run out of Application Memory, and it's based our Mail, the only app not updated. Ideas?

    Maverick and Your System message
I've updated my Macbook Pro and my iMac with Maverick, updating the various apps (Pages, Aperture, iPhoto, Numbers & iMovie, too) in the process.
On my Macbook, everything functions perfectly. On my iMac, I get the Your System has Run out of Application Memory message. But it's not Calendar, it's Mail that not only won't open, but when it does now, it takes the entire system out with it.
I open Safari, and it works. I open Firefox, and it works and Safari still works. I open Calendar and it works, Safari and Firefox continue to work. I open Reminders, and everything still works.
I open Aperture, and it opens Finder instead, showing the 3.5 update that was installed two days ago (and Aperture has functioned), but doesn't seem to update the app; after about 20 seconds the update disappears and I can now open Aperture and it shows I'm now opening the updated Aperture, which it didn't show before.
I click on Mail, and the cursor spins for ten minutes. The mail window finally opens, but the cursor spins and does not connect to upload new mail, and I finally Force Quit Mail. Since the Maverick update, even though Mail was not updated (and maybe because Mail was not updated), I have been able to receive emails twice, and then the program crashed.
Besides the Aperture app, Pages didn't fully update on the iMac, and I had to remove the old Pages icon from the dock after the new program loaded up from Applications.
    Any ideas?

  • My MacBook Pro can't send mail since Yosemite upgrade. I keep getting a message that the certificate is invalid, and it says that my account is "offline." This never happened before, very upset.

I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday afternoon on my MacBook Pro. It was an upgrade from the most recent Maverick version. I had already sent out several emails that day, but once the installation was complete, I couldn't send any mail at all. I kept getting this strange dialogue box that said the certificate for the server was invalid, and might be something "pretending" to be my server. It also keeps telling me that my email account is offline. The only account it shows as active is a Verizon POP account, but that doesn't work. I've tried using the Edit functions and the "doctor" functions, but they seem useless. I tried Help, but the instructions it gave included onscreen items I don't seem to have. This is awful, I've already missed deadlines and am desperate.

I have the same issue. My computer has also slowed down. I hope this isn't a malware. I haven't input my password into it, and dont know what I did to turn this on.
Hope someone else can give some insight

  • Macbook pro Mail "Send & Receive"

when i send an email using Macbook pro Mail OS X Mavericks a second copy is created (a duplicate) and both emails are filed in the sent folder.
The second copy is identical to the first one except sometimes is a bit bigger in size. (like for example 10KB and 11KB).
But the recipient only receives one copy. Thank you for the support.

What were the results of taking the steps under the heading "Mail Connection Doctor shows all green dots in the Status column" in the support article?

  • Refurbished Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) Trackpad Jumpy/Non Responsive

Just purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) from the Apple Online Store.  It worked fine for the first few days and then I noticed the cursor would occasionally go absolutely berserk and open up windows and fight against what I was doing.
Ended up chatting with Apple Care, and we reset a few things which did not work.  Have tried almost everything I've read in the Apple forums and nothing is working.  It seems to work for a while sometimes and then out of nowhere it randomly goes crazy again.
Am I just going to have to take this to an authorized Apple service location?

    Hi bapesta94,

  • Refurbished MacBook Pro Owners: Post your experiences with "Refurbs" here.

Hello Everyone. For the past few months I've been seriously thinking about getting a Mac notebook. When I get my Mac, I plan to run Final Cut Express HD for a few years, and If I decide to get a MacBook Pro then after a few more years I'll upgrade to Final Cut Studio. During my research of Macs I've stumbled upon something that really seemed to catch my eye; Refurbished MacBook Pro's for 41% Off Original Price. As far as I know, according to a few refurbished MBP owner's comments and Apple's brief description of it's "Stringement Refurbishing Process," it seems like a good deal to me, but of course it's always good to ask those who have already purchased a Refurbished MacBook Pro to see just how good of a job Apple does on refurbishing their products. That's why I've come here. For your comments. For all of you who have previously purchased a Refurbished MacBook Pro or other related item, please tell me about your experiences with your refurbished products. Was it a good experience? Or was it a bad experience, and feel free to go into as much detail as you need because I'll read your entire comment no matter how long. As you can see I'm pretty desperate for some owner's opinions so I will very much appreciate any comments that you give me. Thanks in advance for all your help and comments!

I received my refurbished 2.16GHz Macbook Pro on Tuesday and had a similar instance to Ty-Guy. My shipping box wasn't visibly damaged but the Macbook Pro was warped in the center which caused the case to buckle out, right above the lid latch. I called Apple Care and they offered a full refund or an exchange. I opted for the exchange. After the call, I decided I might be able to live with the Macbook Pro as-is with maybe a little "tweaking". After a few hours of use I realized it also suffered from the glitchy DVD drive issue - some would read, some wouldn't, some that would read were ssssssllllloooowwww. So another call to Apple Care and 20 minutes later I had a Fedex return label emailed to me. 2 hours after I printed the label from the Fedex website, I received another email that my replacement Macbook Pro was already shipped Priority Overnight to me! However inconvenient it may be that I have to send a unit back for defects, Apple more than made up for it by handling it the way they did.
And as far as Apple's strict refurbishment process goes, it is more than likely that the Macbook Pro arrived warped due to the shipping/packaging and not to lack of quality control. My Macbook Pro had no support underneath the center of it in the package. Which when subjected to say, a delivery person dropping it, would result in the area without support taking the brunt of the force. At least, that's my interpretation of it.
