Reg: Issue adding remote Instances in Br tools Studio.....

Hai,
Br tools studio is Installed successfully and able to login to the server, but when trying to add remote Instance it ends up with the below NullPointerException.
We have used ocj4 according to the SAP Note 1224432, also not using https (as per [SAP] First experience with SAP BR*Tools Studio for Oracle)
Please let me know is there any work around possible.

Hi,
To avoid this error, Just install JDK 6.0 and OC4J 9.0.4.1.0
Try accessing thru web.
If you get an error on accessing javac.exe file, then do the following changes...
go to the home directory of brtools studio, --> config ---> Edit the file server.xml
add this line as per below, save and then try to access thru web.
<global-application name="global" path="application.xml"/>

This should solve your problem.

Hello All,
Those of you who are trying out / playing with the new SAP DBA tool (BR*Tools Studio), please place your experience in the forum.
I have installed BR*Tools Studio on a development instance in a dedicated server mode and trying to get hang of it. The product looks good but it is taking a while to get used to its functionality. The documentation provided is just basic to get started.
Issues I have are:
1. 500 Internal Server Error - java.lang.NullPointerException (logged frequently) - It has disappeared, not crashed for a while now, It could be related to memory resources on the server. relogging to it continues from the point it failed.
2. I have configured the instance to run as database user SYSTEM, but when I goto BR*Toos Wizard tab -> Database -> Tablespace, Datafiles, Control Files, Redolog Files. I am not able to view any of them. User SYSTEM has DBA and SAPDBA assigned.
All assistance will be useful.

please let me take the opportunity and address the two points you mentioned:
It is indeed common for BR*Tools Studio to occasionally hit a 500 Internal Server Error: java.lang.NullPointerException. Up to now, we were not able to determine the root cause of this issue, yet we feel that it must have to do with paging and asynchronous memory calls, as the exception often shows up after longer idle periods. In particular, it does not reproduce, and cannot be addressed properly by the Studio. A side effect of the exception is that, while you need to close the browser window, the client is not proprely logged off from the Studio, so that it is still visible in the client overview of the server administration, until the next Studio server restart. I hope that we can still find a solution for this issue, but it has been around for a long time yet also in development.
It is also correct that there is a little design flaw when adding an instance to BR*Tools Studio. When you add an instance, the Studio will synchronize with the instance dictionary not before the next full sync point in time, so that you cannot see the instance tablespaces, data files etc. immediately. Depending on the settings, this might take up to 20 minutes. A work-around, at least for a dedicated server, is to restart the Studio server, as a full sync gets carried out immediately after server restart. This is also a point we will try to address in one of the upcoming patches.
I, too, would like to propose to keep this thread open to share common experience with the Studio. This will give you the chance to provide feedback, and I will try to keep on and share some insight into the Studio structure and behavior. Still, please post individual, hard installation or runtime issues in separate posts or open an OSS support call. — Thanks,

Adding instances to a dedicated installation of BR*TOOLS Studio 7.1

Hi all,
I created a dedicated installation of BRTOOLS Studio 7.1 on one of my systems. It sees the local Oracle instance fine and is working. The instructions said I CAN add additional remote instances (I know about the additional load, and it is not an issue for me)
My problem is that the remote instances will not connect even after giving the system time to sync (gave it a day)
I am creating the new instance and entering the following information.
I am running AIX 5.3L and Oracle 10g in my landscape.
name: SID
(Remote) shell: sh -c
Administrator User
Name: "my user"
Role: "BR*Tools Studio Administrator"
Password: xxxxxxxx
Database User Name: oraSID
password: xxxxxxxx
BR*Tools Default Profile: initSID.sap
The instance creates successfully but then doesn't connect. I'm not sure whether this is due to me entering an incorrect value, or whether the documentation was incorrect and I need to completely reinstall Studio as a "multi-instance server" instead of a "dedicated server".

CF 10 Load-Balancing with Remote Instances

I was reading an article on Clustering/LB/HA using CF8, but have not found any updates for CF10.
Using VM VirtualBox to setup a few virtual servers, I am looking to setup a load balancing of ColdFusion 10 on 2 remote instances. The goal would be have ColdFusion Cluster Manager be able to point http request to one of the two servers based on load/availability. Not really having a hardware cluster/failover setup, just managing resources on two CF instances instead of a standalone.
The servers are Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS7.5 and ColdFusion 10 Enterprise on installed on 3 of these machines. Let's call them CF-LBManager, CF-Web1, and CF-Web 2. In the CF Docs, they show the Cluster Manager adding the local CF instance and "if you want" a remote instance. However, this scenario would require the main instance to be running and not fail for it to direct to the other instance.
I am trying to set this up now with CF-LBManager as just a manager of the requests coming in. In the Enterprise Manager >> Instance Manager, the local instance is shown and I add the two remote instances with the correct Remote Port, JVM Route, etc. I also made sure the <Cluster>...</Cluster> block was added to the two remote instances (CF-Web1 and CF-Web2) \runtime\conf\server.xml file too, Jetty Services also is running. Now under the Enterprise Manager >> Cluster Manager I add the two remote instances to the cluster, not the local instance on CF-LBManager with Multicast Port and Sticky Sessions enabled. On Submit, I get a green message "You must restart all the server instances and any configured webservers for these changes to take effect.". I go ahead and reboot the servers and come back.
I now browse to the ColdFusion page as a test on CF-Web1 and CF-Web2 to make sure CF is running properly, they do. I then browse the IP of the CF-LBManager, however it only returns the local IIS web site and not redirect to one of the two cluster members. I am not seeing any message on the coldfusion-out.log on the remote instances. Am I not setting this up correctly or not enabling the Cluster Manager to take over and pass along the requests to those in the cluster?

Unfortunatley I don't have a lot of experience with CF10 on Windows, but if you are running CF behind IIS I think you will need to update the Tomcat connector configuraiton to do load balancing. I'm not sure if re-running the wsconfig tool on all of the servers will do this or not, but that is what I would suggest trying first. If that doesn't work you will need to update the Tomcat connector configuraiton manually. Unable to add remote instance to a cluster

Hello,
I’m having an issue with setting up Cold Fusion 8 as a
remote instance cluster. I’m unable to get the remote
instance shown in the Cluster Manager.
I have registered the remote instance with the appropriate
instance name. It picks up the C:\JRun4/servers/cfusion
but it does not show the restart remote CF service button or
pause the remote CF instance or stop.

When I click on the Coldfusion administrator to open the
remote instance CF Administrator the ‘404 error’
message was shown.

I have since copied the CFIDE into this location

When I click on the Coldfusion administrator on the remote
instance this will now display a listing of the remote CFIDE
directory but not the CF Administrator page!
When I change the CFIDE directory to CFIDE1 and change the
URL for the CF Administrator it will show; very strange.
I have restarted both Coldfusion instances but I cannot get
the remote instance to appear in the Cluster Manager so I can
configure this as a Load Balancing Cluster
I have looked at the security properties in this file:
although both servers are on the same subnet.
In the ColdFusion8/runtime/lib/security.properties file by
default, the jrun.subnet.restriction property is set to the value
255.255.255.0, which limits JNDI access to the 255.255.255.0
subnet. You can use jrun.trusted.hosts on its own or in combination
with jrun.subnet.restriction to allow JNDI access to a
comma-separated list of IP addresses (recommended) or host names.
Any help in problem solving this issue, advise and pointers
would be great.

I'm having exactly the same problem on multiple machines, both Intel octocore and G5 quadcore. I'm running 10.5.4 with all the latest updates on all machines. Everything was working, now we can't drag any of the machines into a cluster to make a new one. Like you say, they only appear if Managed is unchecked (on the machine providing the QMaster service), and then are still greyed out, and not draggable. And you can't save a cluster without specifying the cluster controller, which you can't because nothing can be dragged in. The nodes appear to be unlocked (although the icon isn't very obvious), but even if they're locked, there is no password entry that pops up when clicked, and none have a password set in their QMaster System Preferences.
To test, I did a totally 100% fresh pristine Leopard install and a dual G5, ran all OS upgrades, then did a fresh FCP Studio 2 install, and ran upgrades again and repaired permissions just for good measure. No dice. Exactly the same problem as on the other machines. This is a brand new install and it doesn't work!
Very frustrating problem and I can't believe more people aren't seeing it. Totally fresh install, what else can be done? Well, time to call AppleCare, I guess.

Time Zone issues in Global Instance

Hi,
Can someone give best practice in addressing issues in Global instance due to change in date & time.
Say
1) A user is in America and system time zone is GMT
2) Order screen: sched ship date shown based on user preference as GMT-5hrs. Say it is 30-Jun-2008 7:30 pm
3) However, in the back end the data is stored as 1-Jul-2008 12:30 AM
4) This certainly seems to have an impact to standard date fields.
5) This also seems to have impact on effectivity dates which don't have timestamp. Eg, pricelist effectivity end date = 30-Jun-2008. The pricelist becomes ineffective at 7 PM EST because of system time zone being GMT.
Any pointers to address such issues, would be of great help.

'timezlrg.dat' rather than the 'timezone.dat' file
3 The database must be started in the standard corporate time zone
4 Profile 'Server Timezone' (SERVER_TIMEZONE_ID) must be set at the Site
level, and must be set to the same standard corporate time zone as the
database
5 Profile 'Client Timezone' (CLIENT_TIMEZONE_ID) must be set at the user
level
6 Profile 'Enable Timezone Conversions' (ENABLE_TIMEZONE_CONVERSIONS)
must be set to 'Yes' ('Y') at the Site level.
7 Profile 'Concurrent: Multiple Time Zones' (CONC_MULTI_TZ) should be
set to 'No' (N) at the Site level

Problem: Adding subform instances

Hello,
I'm trying to add some instances of a subform.
Therefor I added the Instance Control Button to my form.
I customized it to my form and tested it.
But when I click the Button, nothing happened. After 5 times, a message opened, that I have reached the limit of instances. But no instance is visible.
What could be the problem?
Alternative: Can I programmatically change the minimum count of repeats of the subform? It's possible that I could calculate, how much lines I need. So that is the second chance.

I solved my problem.
The reason that instances that were added did not show is because there were positioned subforms below where I was adding instances and they covered up new instances because they did not move.
I solved the problem by re-organizing the form.
1. All objects were put in a positioned sub-form. Some of them were in a subform by themselves.
2. Each positioned subform was wrapped in a flowed subform with flow direction Western Text. The flow direction probably doesn't matter here because the flowed subform has only one object in it.
3. The page-level subform was made flowed, direction western text.
4. The form must be saved as a dynamic form.
When I added instances, everything moved down correctly.
You can probably not wrap everything in positioned subforms first, but you have to account for LiveCycle left-justifying everything in flowed subforms by putting blank text boxes to act as spacers to keep fields in place.

Instance not connected at BR*Tools Studio

I've setup BR*Tools Studio as Dedicated Server Mode. I'm using latest

We've encountered the following issues: The remote server is not responding in a proper manner

I have never downloaded Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite/Photoshop basically anything for myself before and have just bought the Creative suite (£15.88/month) and am trying to install it to my computer (Windows 8). I have downloaded the Creative Cloud Set-Up but am unable to get any further than this. When I click on the download, it looks like it is going to download (Adobe Installer, Downloading Creative Cloud desktop and a loading bar) but then it tells me it has encountered the following issues: The remote server is not responding in a proper manner.
Now, I have been looking online for a solution and I saw something about changing an OOBE file in Program Files x86>Common Files>Adobe and at first there was no OOBE file so after more looking I thought I might have to download the Adobe Application Manager, which I did, but that doesn't work either, it just says unable to Reach Adobe servers, check internet connectivity (don't think there is anything wrong with this, I've not had any ther problems with internet connectivity) and firewall settings (i disabled the firewalls).
So I really have no idea what to do, the forums and help sites are confusing and none of the suggestions appear to work?!

[Webrtc] [mozilla 26] Getting unhanded state type: 1 after adding remote stream

Hi,
I am working on a webRTC application. So far, I am able to make call b/w Chrome to Chrome and mozilla to mozilla. But sometimes mozilla to mozilla and almost everytime mozilla to chrome or vice-versa not working.
I see that there is connection being made but audio/video stream are not being played.
The onaddstream callback get triggered, but just after that "Unhandled state type: 1" warning get appeared.
Please help.

Spry Tabbed Pannels issue: adding new divs disrupting widget

I am having issues adding divs to the existing html framework of the .TabbedPannel div. Once I add additional divs, the content for each individual tab is displayed in one long pannel. I think once I added the new divs, the javascript was messed up. I'm a newb when it comes to javascript. does someone have advice for this issue?
Note, once I added the ".b" ".l" ".r" class divs, the pannels got all messed up.

If you want to assign different CSS rules to your content-panel, then why not apply those rules as follows:

How can I connect the TestStand 30 UI controls to a remote instance?

I have been playing with the TestStand 30 UI controls (which I love), and I can't see a way to connect them to a remote instance of the TestStand engine. My observation has been that they always connect to the local instance of the Application manager.
Just to be clear, I want to run TestStand on computer A, then create some UI controls (sequence view file manager, sequence view, some combo boxes, etc) on computer B, and have them connect to the engine on computer A.
I noticed that you can set the sequence file context on the SequenceFileViewMgr object, but not the applicaiton manager context (the property is read only). When I try to set the ISequenceFileViewMgr:equenceFile property to a remote inst
ance of a sequence file object, the control doesn't seem to connect. I can only connect to sequence file objects that have been created locally through the application manager.

The controls don't support that scenario, and if they did, I would expect that the resulting tracing performance would be unacceptable. It is an interesting idea though and it would be nice to try it without tracing to see if it was fast and robust enough to be useful. I'd need to investigate whether the controls use any non-remotable internal APIs before attempting to enable this. I'll add this idea to our suggestion list.
I don't know if it is appropriate for your use case, but if you can instead connect to the remote machine via RemoteDesktop, you should be able to remotely run an OI application with decent performance.

Issues adding friends to iChat, please help!!

I am having issues adding friends on ichat. I can enter their emails but it doesn't notify them on their computer that I added them. How do I fix this?

iChat uses Screen Names (with AIM and can be email in style)
Jabber Names/IDs look like emails as well but with Googletalk, FaceBook and Jabber Australia being the few exceptions I know of.
AIM Names when registered look like an email ([email protected]) but you do not need the @AIM.com suffix when adding them as a Buddy.
(Apple IDs of @mac.com and @me.com do need the relevant suffix)
It would help if we knew what type of Buddy List you were adding these to and what sort of "Email address" they are.
