Reg: Reverse engineering from Code to Flowchart -

Hi Experts,
I'm facing problems while generating Flowchart from an existing old legacy PL/SQL code.
Is there any tool available which can generate that? Oracle SQL Developer, Toad, etc...?
I'm quite sure it'll no way be comparable to a flowchart created by a human brain, but will help in some way as the code is huge.
If it gives a basic outline (big picture), I can analyze the code and add the rest.
Any pointers is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ranit

Parsing even formatted code is tricky and usually just not worth the effort.
This might most probably include your case too as reverse means the normal thing is the other way around so you're supposed to do something someone other had not done.
To confirm the validity of never say never I admit having done something resembling parsing (from far and by night), it's not perfect, but it can do the job (at least here)

  • Reverse Engineering from .fmx file?

Is it possible to recover a corrupt .fmb file from the .fmx file? Somehow, my .fmb file got corrupted and I can no longer access it; however, the .fmx file seems to be OK. Is there any way I can get that .fmb file back?
    Thanks for your help.

Try running CHKCONS & PURGEPUS utilities on the fmb. I had a similar problem with a file in Forms 4.5 and was able to successfully recover it.
First, add the CHKCONS option to the Forms generator icon property as follows: module=<filename> userid=<username/passwd> chkcons=yes. Then, double click on the icon to generate. A dialog box appears indicating no file has been generated.
Now, add the PURGEPUS=yes option to the designer icon and try opening the fmb.

  • Reverse engineering from an existing database

just wondering if the SQL Data Modeler can reverse engineer an oracle 10g database, already in existence? If so, what are the steps/menu choices?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    menu path is File>Import>"Data Dictionary".
You need to define connection to Oracle database. If you use SQLDeveloper you can export your connections and import them at connections page of import wizard.Look at release notes [http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/datamodeler/html/ReleaseNotes.htm] for none Oracle databases.

  • DATA MODELER: reverse engineering from existing database

    After IMPORT -> Data Dictionary
Went thru dialog and Relational Model was displayed.
    Sorry,
There was not relationship shown between each entity.
Right, no Bachman lines between the boxes.
Clicked the "<<" button to create Logical Model.
Again, no lines between the boxes.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Do you have foreign keys defined in database? Is it supported database or you use generic JDBC import?
Can you check log file for errors logged there? (it's in log directory of your installation)
You need foreign keys defined in relational model in order to get relationships in logical model.

  • ANN: Reverse-engineering tool from Logic Explorers Inc.

Logic Explorers Inc. announces the beginning of the beta program for the CodeLogic
reverse-engineering and code analysis tool. CodeLogic is implemented as a plugin
for JBuilder, JDeveloper, and the standalone application. Among the major features:
    - Analyses any Java source code
    - Fully automatic generation of interactive UML Class and Sequence (sic!) diagrams
    - Unique Execution Flow diagram
    - Unique Variables Backtrack diagrams
    - Graphical Code Navigator
    - Zoom and filters
    - Intelligent Diff utility
    - Knowledge Base
To get more information, visit Logic Explorers Inc at
    http://www.logicexplorers.com

I would go with the Forms-Builder itself. If you want to analyze the code and see what action is done at which point, its best to do this in the tool where you developed the application. (You also wouldn't analyze a .Net-application using Notepad ;) )

  • Newly added column not reversed by strand  reverse engineering

    Hi Guys,
I have reverse engg a datastore from Oracle database and later I added one new columns in the same table at database level. Now when I am doing strand reverse Engineering from the model the newly added columns are not being reflected in ODI.
    please comment/advise.
I want to do this through strand reverse Engineering.
    Thanks,
    Giri

Appreciate if any one share suggestion/inputs on this issue

  • Izzit possible to do reverse engineering in java code

the program will able to read the source code and draw a class diagram from the specified source code

usually you would start off with a class diagram (during the design phase) and then write the code (during the implementation phase). But if you start off with the code and then create a class diagram, then I would call it reverse engineering.
Rational Rose and Together do just that.

  • How do I protect and embedded database from reverse engineering, hackers?

    Hello,
I have an application that needs to be shipped to the customers with an embedded database that consists of critical application dependent data. The problem is that this data is top-secret information that for no reason should get in the hands of someone else because all the company value lies in this data. So my question is:
How can I protect this data that are being shipped embedded in the application from hackers, reverse engineering etc? Is it even possible?
Or is it secure enough to have the database credentials stored in the source code? Can reverse engineering get these credentials from the compiled application?

How can I protect this data that are being shipped embedded in the application from hackers, reverse engineering etc? You can't. Regardless of the computer language being used to generate the executable it can always be reverse engineered so as to extract critical information.
    Is it even possible?No.

  • Reverse engineering tool from the uml modeling tutorial

My problem arises at the point where the tutorial wants you to generate code. I generate the code for the bankAccount.java and the accountTest.java and that works fine. I add setBalance(getBalance()+amount); to bankAccount.java. I then add the main class to the AccountTest.java and reformat the code. That all works fine. Then when I do the reverse engineering going through steps 8-10, the Model Element Overwrite Authorization dialog box, never appears, and the main() method never gets written back into the AccountTest class. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening?

What version (or build) of UML are you using? You can find out by going Tools->Module Manager, find a uml module under UML category, right click on the module and bring up Properties, build number is listed under "Expert" section. What's your system platform? JDK?
In step 9, is the target uml project selected? Do you have other uml projects open at the same time?

  • Error when Reversing metadata from HFM

    Hi,
I'm getting this error when i try to reverse metadata from HFM.
"com.hyperion.odi.common.ODIHAppException: Error occurred while loading driver."
I already try the suggestion in this forum including
    Cause
The Java Library Path of the HFMDriver.dll is missing in Wrapper configuration file.
    Solution
    1. Backup and edit the ODI_HOME\tools\wrapper\conf\snpsagent.conf and include the following entry in Java Library Path section :
    wrapper.java.library.path.2=../drivers
After adding it will look as follows:
    # Java Library Path (location of Wrapper.DLL or libwrapper.so)
    wrapper.java.library.path.1=../tools/wrapper/lib/
    wrapper.java.library.path.2=../drivers
Note: HFMDriver.dll is usually present in <odi_home>\oracledi\drivers folder. If it is located in different path, then appropriate location should be referred. Also numbering convention like wrapper.java.library.path.1, wrapper.java.library.path.2 has to be in a incremental manner and no duplicates nor gaps should exist.
    2. Save the file and recreate the ODI Agent Service with the new configuration parameters as the classes are loaded during its creation and re-test the issue.
But it still errors. Does anyone know another solution?
Btw, i'm using ODI 10.1.3.5, and the HFM's version 9.3.1
Those two are not on the same machine. And i've already installed HFM Client on ODI Machine.
    Thanks in advance.

Ok, i've solved the problem above. Looks like i forgot to define driver folder in PATH variable.
But now i got another error.
Looks like the problem lies in HFM now.
It's said that Server/Cluster incorrectly configured. But, in my HFMClient i've successfully access the application.

  • How to do reverse engineering to a sybase model?

    Hi,
I´m new with sybase ase technology and i don´t now how to create a sybase model in ODI. I´m alredy created the data server and logical schema in topology manager but when i try to do the reverse engineering on designer module i can´t see the tables. What are the requirements for do this?
    Help me please!!!
    Regards

    Hi
Pl. use Return Purchase Order process, transaction code ME21N
At the item details, look for the Return columns and tick it.
MIGO_GR - Goods Receipt for Return Purchase Order
Movement type will be 161 to deduct the stock and 162 for reversal.
During Goods Receipt for Return Purchase Order, you do not have to change the movement type from 101 to 161 as the system will automatically assign the movement type to 161 upon saving the postings.
However, before saving, check if there is a tick in the Return Column to ensure that it is a return Purchase Order.
you can also do the outbound delivery ..
Outbound delivery with VL01n and do shipment with VT01N by referencing to the Out bound delivery.
    I hope this helps,
if found usefull pl . award points
    Thanks
    Prasanna
