Reg: Solution Identifier generator & License Manager

Hi Friends,
Can anybody tell me what is the exact use of
1. Solution Identify
2. How can I implement Lincese manager service through SDK.
3. How to add our own license manager service in SAP Service manager. It contains some services like backup service, license manager , event manager etc...
Thanks & Regards
Manish

Hi Manish,
I'll try to give you a general explanation but for more detail I would say you can contact your local SAP field organisation and there should be someone there who can help you.
1: The solution identifier is used so that you can code an add-on identifier into your add-on. Any user trying to use this add-on will need to have requested a license off the service marketplace to use it.
e.g.
- you apply for a BASIS License for your add-on
- you then use this BASIS license to generate an add-on identifier in Business One
- Then you code this add-on identifier into your add-on
- If a user wants to use this add-on, they must add the BASIS license to their license file when requesting it from the service marketplace
2: As above. You request a BASIS license, generate an add-on identifier and code this into your add-on.
3: I don't know of a way to add your own service to the SAP server tools, I do not think it is possible. You can implement your own standalone license service, but it would be more straightforward to implement the SAP BASIS model.
Hope this helps clarify things,
Regards,
Niall

Welcome to the Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions about Single Sign-On (SSO) with Cisco WebEx Meetings Server (Cisco WMS), Internet Reverse Proxy (IRP), and Enterprise License Manager (ELM) solutions.
SSO standards such as Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0 provide secure mechanisms for passing credentials and related information between different websites that have their own authorization and authentication systems. SSO enables simplified user authentication and management.
IRP provides public access, enabling users to host or attend meetings from the Internet and mobile devices. Although IRP is optional, Cisco encourages its use because it provides a better user experience for your mobile workforce.

  • What could change the Computer ID used for the licenses in NI License Manager?

at our customer site we originally set up our software which uses the Vision Run-Time and Vision Acquisition Software.    We purchased a license for the PC and it was installed. It has been running since July.   but today the customer started getting errors asking for the license. using NI license manager we see "Status: Activated for a different computer"
looking further we now see a different "Computer ID" code   I have original screen shots of when I originally applied the license so I know the Computer ID was not a typo.
The customer says no one has swapped out the PC's,  but is currently looking to see if any other work was done.
    Has anyone expirenced this before?

I hope your problem was solved by now.
If not, is your customer using any VPN software?
VPN software creates virtual MAC address, and somehow NI License Manager will use that for computer ID.
A known case is that VPN software by Juniper Networks will randomly create a virtual MAC address
every time the computer reboots. This will screw up NI License Manager because the computer ID will be different every time
    computer reboots.
A workaround is to ask NI for an activation code based on computer ID that is generated from your hard drive.
With this, unless you change your harddriver or format it, it will keep the same computer ID.
That is exactly what my problem was.  I ended up getting a computer ID based on the harddrive.  The thing is that when performing the "automated" activation, it uses the computer ID from the MAC address.  So I have to activate over email, change the file so that it uses my harddrive based computer ID, send it, apply the received codes.  It is kind of a pain, but not that bad.

  • SAP B1 License Manager not starting automatcially

    Dear All
    SAP Version : SAP 9.0 PL12
    Issue :
1)SAP B1 License manager is not starting automatically even when the status is automatic in the Services.msc
2)Also when logged from the client system its asks for the IP address/server name every time.
3)Some times it connects with the Server name and sometimes with the IP address.
And at cases it doesn't even connect at all throwing the error message "Connection to the license server failed" .
and then when we replace the config files of SAP B1 to DI API it works fine at cases.
This issue occurs on a random basis and at almost in all the systems(System connected in the morning is facing issue at afternoon).
And it becomes an activity on a daily basis.
So kindly let us know the exact cause for this issue and also a permanent solution for the same.

  • Quantity Depreciation in GTS License Management

    Hello Friends,
We want to define License management in GTS with quantity depreciation functionality.
We have set up all the relevant configuration and master data for License determination and it works fine.
But the quantity depreciation is not happening.
Below configurations are made in GTS for quantity depreciation.
    1. License type is marked for "Quantity Update" , Basis for quantity update is defined as "QUAITM Document Item Quantity" and value assignment level is "A"
    2. Item Category is assigned to Depreciation Group and Quantity Depreciation is "-".
    3. License is maintained with a highest quantity and UOM.
When we create document license gets determined successfully and the log shows message "Quantities were written off completely". In license at Assigned Document level we can see the document assigned to license and Quantity Depreciated column shows correct quantity. But we check at the quantities level in license and quantity depreciated column shows zero quantity and Remaining Quantity = Highest Quantity of the license.
And also If I create the next document with quantity more than the highest quantity of the license it does not get blocked in GTS.
Can you anyone help me resolve this issue.
    With Regards,

  • Can the license manager load the computer-based license first, instead of the user-based license?

We have several machines in the lab with computer-based licenses on them and a number of techs with user-based licenses. When a tech needs to occassionally sign in as themselves, instead of the generic service account, the license manager attaches the machine to their user account. Not a problem until they try logging in to LabVIEW from their own PC again and they get the 14 day trial period notice.
Is there a way to have the license manager look for the computer license first instead of the user license?
    Thanks for any help.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Joe,
In the license file hosted on the license server, you may be able to manually change the "sort" tag in the file to modify the order in which VLM checks out licenses. Licenses are checked out in descending order (2, then 3, then 4, etc.). Typically, your license file is set up in a default order, but in special cases such as this, it may be beneficial to alter the order. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Open the license file with a text editor (such as Notepad)
    2. Search for the "sort" tag. For instance, the "VLM_Core" entry will have a sort tag value will appear as "sort=first". Do not alter this value. VLM_Core should always be first.
    3. Change the sort tag value for the named-computer license to a value that is lower than the sort tag value for the named-user license. (e.g. "sort=2" for named-computer and "sort=3" for named-user).
    4. Save the file and reinstall the license.
Let me know if you have any questions!

  • Auto License Management in solman causing Issues

    Hi Team,
I was trying to schedule auto-license ON in solman.
    I have scheduled everything :
As a result of this :
The maintenance licenses were able to reach from service market place to solman.
Although the satellite system license going to expire within 30 days (yellow status) still the new one there in solman is not getting applied to satellite system.
    FYI:
Satellite system    Maintenance license status   Received License
    SID                                      Yellow                          Green
I have checked SDCCN maintenance task : there also I couldn't see any errors.
Let me know what is the job that applies this license in target system

  • Develope license management

Want to develope a license management software module for my LV application.
Just somehow like LV license activation.
    1. User generate a code and email to me.
    2. I generate a code and send back.
    3. User uses the new code to activate the software.
    The concern is
    1. What should be inside the user's code? CPU id or others, better can use for embedded system also.
    2. After activation, where should I save the OK info.
I am totally new for this.
    Any suggestion, thanks.

Close but not quite.  Not to say your scheme won't work, but if you're trying to understand mine, here's what I do:
Every software comes with a Serial Number.
--- No, every copy is the same when starting out.  There is no serial number yet.
    1. When do activation at the client side, it will get hardisk volume number and Serial Number, then encrypt with
key1(string1) by AES256, and send to server.
--- I get the HardDisk VSN and USERNAME / COMPANY NAME along with a PRODUCT ID and encrypt those.  PRODUCT ID is in case you have two separate programs, PROGRAM A = Product ID 101, PROGRAM B = Product ID 102.
    2. When server receive it, decode with key1(string1) by AES256, and check if the serial number is in the list, but not activated before, if so, it will encrypt volumn number with key1(string2) by AES and send back to client.
--- When the server receives the request, THEN it assigns a serial number and sends that to the requester.  The server enters the HardDisk VSN and USERNAME / COMPANY NAME, PRODUCT ID, and serial number into a database.
When the software has a serial number, but not a key, it's in the PENDING state, and won't ask for registration again.
The serial number is saved into a license file, along with the VSN. There is only one key for the software.
--- The server at this point does whatever is necessary to verify credit cards, purchase orders, whatever.  When the server side is satisfied that the bill is paid, it uses the VSN, SERIAL NUMBER and PRODUCT ID to compute a key, and puts that into the database.
--- The client checks periodically with the server to see if a key is available yet.  If no key is available, the client stays in the PENDING state (demo mode).
    3. When client receive it, it will save it in a file. Every time runup, it will decode the file by key2(String2) and compare with the one get by kernell.dll, if they are the same, then go on.
--- Exactly.  It decodes the key in the license file.  The decoded VSN has to match the actual VSN from the hard disk to enable everything; otherwise, stay in demo mode.
Is there any weak points in the procedure, thanks.
    Yes.
1... If a user replaces or reformats their hard disk, the registration is lost.  The new VSN will not be the same as the old.  They have to go thru the whole process again.  They will have to call the central office and explain things - if the people there believe the story, they get a new key.
2... If a user replaces their computer, same thing.
3... The VSN is theoretically unique. But some companies use tools to duplicate disk images onto all computers in the company.  That means the VSN is duplicated, and a license for one of those computers will work on all of them.
4... There are hacker's tools that will allow you to diddle with the VSN.  If they figure out that it's VSN based, those tools will crack it.
It's not bulletproof, as I said.  It will deter casual piracy. It will not stop a determined hacker (nothing will).

  • Licence error: 100000006 No Licence  (addon identifier generator - dev )

before popping this to SAP as a support question I thought of using the forum,
we have the Developer version of SDK and I have it installed on the PC.
I tried (for the first time) to create the Add On Identifier for the use of my new add-on I am writing.
as this is not a real issue yet, I understand that after end of this year I need an add-on identifier, so I was planning to set the addon identifier property with the generated string.)
    Administration | License | Add-on identifier generator
then selected "Development" and cliked "Generate" only to get the error below.
    "Licence error: 100000006 No License"
    what is the problem?
I have upgraded SAP a few times with patches available since the install of the Developer SDK, and I upgraded the SDK that came with them as well, could this have done something to my SDK? If that is so, how do I obtain Developer SDK upgraes?
I tried uninstalling the SDK and re-installing with same result.
    Thanks in advance,
    Indika.
Message was edited by: Indika Dekumpitiya

    Hi Indika,
To know if you have the development license you should have a look to the Administration -> License -> LicenseAdministration menu and then go to the Components folder. There you should have a "Software Development Kit - Development Version" line with the numbers of licenses you have and the start/expiration date. You can also have a look to your license.txt file.
If everything is ok regarding your development license, I think it s if you were able to develop and test your addon using DI and UI API, then you must create a message into SAP support.
    Regards

  • Licensing management - Volume Licensing / Small Business / ...

    Hi Microsoft,
So, when you click on support / contact us "For your Business" you have a magnificent section named License Management. And I was like... finally a place where I can manage ALL my licences... and that pointed me to the Volume Licensing site.
And I got oh great, this also works for non Open / Volume contracts now ?
I log in... and no where can I enter the licences I have.
It would have been so great if I could manage every type of licences my business has at the moment in one single place. At the moment I have some on paper, on the cardboards provided by Microsoft for the no disk installs, in the office store, the Microsoft
    store.......
So the question is, where is the forum for Microsoft Licensing Management ? And is there a way for me to write to ONE unique Microsoft system to manage ALL the licences the company owns whatever the type they are. OEM/Open/... (yes OEM too as if a hard drive
crashes well, always good to have another place to store the key since some don't put the sticker on the metal)

  • Identifying Which License is on Which Machine?

I have two licenses for CS3 Design Premium and I have each license installed on two Macs--one each on one desktop and one MB Pro--four machines in all.
Now I have ordered an upgrade to CS5 DP to replace two of those installations, but I cannot find the record that I thought I had kept to show which licenses are on which machines. I had also thought that there was a way to display a partial serial number--sufficient to determine what I need to know--but I cannot find it.
All four Macs are on the same network. I thought it would be easy enough to at least learn which pair of machines has the same license by opening one of the applications on computer A and then going to computers B, C, and D to see where the application would not launch because an instance was already running on another machine on the network. That didn't work; I can run any of the CS3 applications on all four Macs simultaneously. Disabling the license check is not something that I would do even if I knew how to do it, so I cannot explain why this is the case.
Part 2 of my question. After one of you kind souls tells me how to identify which licenses are on which machines: Suppose that license 1 is running on machines A and B and license 2 is running on machines C and D. But I want to install the CS5 update on machines A and C. Can I swap licenses between machines before I install the CS5 upgrade, possibly by deactivating the licenses and reactivating with the appropriate serial numbers?
I hope to resolve this quickly for a hassle-free installation of the upgrade. I had an experience with Adobe some years ago that left a bad taste in my mouth. I could not activate a CS3 DP license after buying the software in a box at retail. It took countless hours on the phone over a period of months to persuade Adobe to help me, even though I had a longish (for a non-pro user) list of licensed Adobe software that I had bought at retail, and it was my opinion that Adobe could have guessed from a glance at that list that I am not a likely software pirate. A lingering fear of a repetition of that very unpleasant experience is why it has taken me so long to upgrade. My wife and I need to run this software on two Macs simultaneously and if this upgrade goes well I will upgrade my other CS3 license with greater confidence.
    Thanks!
    David Illig

Since no one else answered my question I had to do it the hard way and answer for myself. In an on-line chat with Adobe Customer Service I learned that what I wanted to do could not be done; there was no way to determine which license is on which machine. The ACS rep did say something that led me to the solution, which is really quite simple.
This works for CS3, but I cannot say whether it would work for other versions of CS.
I deactivated all four installations of CS3. In so doing I checked the box which asks if one wants to erase the serial number from that computer.
Then I re-activated CS3 on all four Macs, entering the serial numbers as I wanted them to be, and noting which serial number I put in which Mac.
Done. The CS5 is now installing nicely, thank you.
    Regards,
    David Illig

  • SignalExpress Tektronix license manager

I'm still the site administrator for LabVIEW SignalExpress Tektronix Edition licenses (used by the Tektronix sales force to sell SignalExpress TE) and I still have the same computer, but IT is about to move me from XP to Win7. Will the same license manager software still work, or am I going to need an upgrade? A new license for the license manager?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello scottdavidson,
What version of Volume License Manager are you using? Are you upgrading the server OS or client OS? If you are just upgrading client machines, you need to install your software on the new OS and point it at the server.
