Regarding field exit

hi guru
my requirement is that i want to change a predefined field lenth 9 character. to 12 character. how can i do it.
please help me.

Field Exits:
     Field exits take you from a screen field with a data element reference to a function module. Field exits can be either global or local.
Field exit function modules adhere to the following naming convention:
prefix:     FIELD_EXIT_
name:     <data element name>_
suffix (optional):     0 to 9, A to Z
Global field exits are not limited to a particular screen. If a global field exit's data element is used on multiple screens, you will branch to a function module from all of these screens once the exit has been activated. Here you can, for example, edit the contents, force a new entry to be made by outputting an error message, or prohibit certain users from proceeding further.
Local field exits are valid for one screen only. If you assign a screen from a specific program to the data element, then you will only branch to a function module from this screen once the exit has been activated. To be able to allow different functionality on different screens referring to the same data element, you can assign exit numbers to data elements. Each exit number refers to a different function module.

   Field Exits It is triggered at field level.
      It is attached at data element
     Specific to one screen only or to all the screen where field appears.
     Field exit is not allowed in SAP version 4.7 and above .

     plz. send me the step-by-step procedure to create Field and Screen exit.

Screen Exits:
Screen exits are provided by SAP to allow the programmer to add his own sub screen in the already available standard SAP screen. The standard screen will have a sub screen area defined especially for this purpose. The call to this sub screen will also be present already in the standard code.
For example, there is an enhancement RVEXAKK1 available for foreign trade transactions.
As you see in the above screen in screen areas block the calling screen, its number, sub screen area and the called screen with its number are defined. Here the main screen 101 in program SAPMV86E is having a sub screen area ZUSATZ and the screen 100 from program SAPLXAKK will be the sub screen for that area.
It is mandatory for the called screen to be in a function group that starts with X. Here the function group is XAKK.
Also, if you see the above enhancement, it also has two FM exits. These two FM exits will be used to pass data to & from the sub screen. These FM calls will be in PBO & PAI modules of the main screen. These FMs are also part of the above said function group.
And the function group will not have that sub screen 100 defined. The programmer can create his own screen with the number 100(or whatever is called).
Calling of the sub screen.

Sub screen call in PAI block of main screen          this module has FM exit call
Create the screen 101 in program SAPLXAKK from transaction CMOD.
Double click here to create the screen
Once screen creation is done, use the two FM exits present in the enhancement to pass data to the sub screen and get data from the sub screen.
Field Exits
1. Field exit was created with CMOD, but is not processed when calling the screen.
   o Since the field exit is not processed until PAI, an action must be
      triggered on the screen (Return, Save, ...).
   o Set profile parameter abap/fieldexit to YES and restart the
      system. Setting the profile can be done by a BASIS person.
o     To check if the parameter is set or not use transaction RZ10.
   o After activating the function module FIELD_EXIT... and the field
      exit, leave the transaction on whose screen the field exit is to
      be executed. The screen is not generated until the transaction is
      started.
   o Do not work on different application servers since there may be
      some delay before the field exit is activated.
   o The profile parameter must be set on all or none of the
      application servers.
   o If the field exit is to only be active on specific screens, check
      whether you chose the correct program and the correct screen
      number (take care with subscreens).
   o Using SE51 -> Field list, check that the screen field does have a
      reference to a data element. In the name of the field exit use the
      name of the data element and not the field name.
   o After transport, field exits are marked as active but will not be
      processed. Tip: First try deactivating the field exit once more
      and then afterwards, activate it again.

Query on Field exits in ECC 6.0

Hi All,
We have implemented field exits in SAP R/3 4.6c and now we have upgraded to ECC 6.0.
I need to know the following information:
Are field exits obsolete in ECC6.0?
Can we create new field exits in ECC 6.0 ?
Going forward, what is the alternative technology/concept to be used - enhancement sports, BADIs etc for field validations(or instead of field exits)?

Hi,
Though it is obsolete, SAP does not say dont you field exit. You can still use field exit. You can still create field exits.
Whatever is already existing will definitely work. Creating a field exit is much more simpler and easy than the BADIs or Enhancement points.
Yes you are right, going forward, you will have to use BADIs or Enhancement points.

Field Exit with DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE

Hello, I am trying to develop a validation in a SAP transaction (XD01) to check some field values and if them are right then fill automatically the rest of the field in the screen, using a Function Modulo and the FM DYNP_VALUES_READ I am able to retrieve the field values correctly, my problem is when a try to fill the rest of the screen's fields with FM DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE it doesn't work. Does anybody have used this FM? is possible what I am trying to do?

Using Field exit we can't populate multiple fileds, One filed exit is applicable for only one input filed.If you want to implement the
filed exit for multiple fileds you have to implement the one exit for one filed.

Not getting field value in Input field of field exit

I am using field exit for data element GWLDT in transaction code IE02. But in this field exit I am not getting the value entered in the field "Begin guarantee date(GWLDT)" in the INPUT field of field exit.How I can get the value in the INPUT field of field exit?

PR creation for 'F" in ME51N, ME52n, the cost center field exit getactivate

Dear Gurus,
We have a Cost center Field exit activation, meaning when a PR is generated, the system will validate only for his department cost center. Its working fine
The issue, when we create PR through ME51n or me52n for Acct Assign "F" here we are going to enter only Work order number and GL number, not cost center. Still this field exit has activation, here the same error message popup, which suppose not to be.
So in MM configuration, i have disabled Cost center field for acct assignment "F".
Now when i create a PR for F, for single account assignment, the system will alllow, but if i want to distribute the qty to different work order, the system goes for validation for cost center field exit.
How to resolve for multiple assignment, how to deactivate the Cost center field exit for this case, its woking fine of Single account assignment (after disable the cost center field for Account Assignment "F")
Please help me out or any way to do this?

Hi,
Cross check you have Cost Center field is Hidden for Account Assignment Category A (Asset) in t.code:OME9. Now change Cost Center field as Display for Account Assignment Category A and save.
Now create a new PO with Account Assignment Category A and find the difference how Cost Center appearing in your PO in “Account Assignment” TAB.

How to fetch values at runtime in field exit function module

Hi all,
I am creating a field exit for delivery date in Purchase requisition.
For that I need to capture Delivery Date and Sale Order entered in purchase requisition and pass this to Function module and validate this data.
I am using import and export parameters but it is giving runtime error.
please tell me how to solve it.

Use of field exit for validation of KNTTP in ME51N

Hi All,
I've a client who is still running on SAP 4.6C. There is a requirement to validate the Account Assignment Field KNTTP based on the document type, and if the validation fails, to raise an error message. As there is no standard user exit that I've been able to find for this field, and we don't want to modify standard screens, I've created a field exit against the KNTTP field and generated the FM FIELD_EXIT_KNTTP, and activated it, but it doesn't work.
As this is the first Field Exit I've coded could someone please assist me with understanding the following: in the parameters list is the value of INPUT the value of, in this instance, the KNTTP field and also is it possible to read other screen data within this FM, for example, if the KNTTP value eq 9, can I read the BSART field of the current transaction, and if so, how do I reference it (BSART, EKKO-BSART, MEREQ_TOPLINE-BSART, parameter id BSA, etc)?
Any suggestions on how to debug the process would be greatly appreciated as well.

Help required regarding user exit for STPSHH01 IDOC

Need help regarding user exit.
I append the structure of VTTP and add one field with the name of ZDELCST i.e Delivery cost so i want to update that table once the idoc will post.
I have to write the user exit for this but i have no idea how to do this so kindly requesting someone to please write the code for me and i will be very grateful to him/her.

How to write the code for IMPORT and export in Field exit

Hi,
Using the FB01 tcode with condition as document type (ZF) and company code
i want to substitute values should come in the next screen.
i am passin the document type and the company code in the FB01 initial screen (100) and added field exit for Cost centre.
if the Doc type ZF and company code is 0245 then the field exit shoul trigger and give the defaul cost centre value if it contain any cost centre valu it over write the existing if it is empty i will write the defauls cost centre value.

As i have understood, if ur doc type is ZF and company code is 0245, then you want to pass the value to cost centre field in next screen.
You can use program RSMODPRF. here enter the data element of cost centre field and assign the screen no and program name (for FI docs prg name would be SAPMF05A).
After assigning program and screen no , Create the function module where u have to write an 'if' statement for assigning value to cost centre (i.e export field in FM)
the values for company code and document type can be fetched from their respective parameter ids i.e. BUK and BAR.

Alternatives to Field Exit for executing a transaction?

Hello,
i'm looking for a way to add code to an existing dynpro, so that a double-click on a field executes a different transaction. As far as i know this is not allowed in a field exist. If there's also no BADI-method defined, what else can be used? Is there any other way than changing the current code of the application itself?

The alternative for field exits after R/3 4.6C has been the enhancement Points...
Check in debugging if there exists an implicit enhancement point in the PAI of the screen,
If so you can add your code to call a new transaction...

The first screen for transaction IFCU, shows two fields: The equipment we are trying to record a consumption for and a GasStation field.
The Gas Stations we have configured have this mask: XNN, in which X: is a letter which stands for the company, for example "A" and a number NN for the GasStation belonging to the company in which we will consume fuel, for example 22.
So the GasStation´s name is "A22".
We wish to develop a field in which the user will only have to input the number (for example: "22"), and the system, depending on the company code of the equipment input in the first field, will concatenate the first letter of the company with the number input by the user.
Example:
1.User inputs Equipment that belongs to company "A". <<Enter>>
(System reads Equipment company code, in this case "A")
2.User only inputs "22".
(System concatenates A+22 internally for the GasStation entry)
3.User goes into the next screen to fuel an equipment with the A22 GasStation.
We are trying to find a field/user exit that will do this concatenation internally in the first screen.
I hope I gave you a good idea of what we ´re trying to do.

I need to perform some validations over a field and I am doing it on a field exit. The requirement is that I have to inform the user if, after the validation, the exit changes the value of the field.

Well, I have changed the strategy because it was too difficult and complicated because I had to perform several other validations using other fields, and in case those other fields were changed, validate everything again.
After all, I have put al the required validations in a user exit and issued an error message proposing a new value for the field so the user will have to change it manually.
This is, by far, the simplest solution I found.

Debugging field-exit with the new debugger

Hi everyone,
I could debug a field-exit with the new debugger, but I cannot do it anymore. I chose the options "system debug" and "update debug" in the configuration menu that time but it's not working now.
Before you answer "<b>FIELD-EXIT CANNOT BE DEBUG!</b>", take a look first at the The New ABAP Debugger 7.00 Presentation where it mentions that's possible.
And also I saw a post: Re: activation of field exit for particular sereen
where Ramesh Kashigari said that it's possible too.
Anyone knows How can I configurate the new debbuger for this?

I agree that it should now be possible. I saw this on a SAP Java Development Day at the start of '04 when NetWeaver 04 was launched.
I saw it being used in the NetWeaver Development Studio.
It seemed very clever indeed. You could debug the Java code then jump to the ABAP debugger when the BAPI is called then jump back into the Java code when the BAPI call is completed. It seemed to work very well and did not have any issues.
