Regarding look and feel

Hi Experts,
       We are building our front end interface for Integrated planning solution using webtemplate ..can somebody give me some General suggestion to improve look and feel (ofcourse without hitting performance). Our BI reports are on Xcelsius(It does not allow input query), so obviously there is a comparison between these two tools..
Thanks in advance

We actually took a copy of the SAP standard reporting template to use as it already has a good suite of options.  However, there are certain aspects that are not as relevent for planning (navigation pane since data is already presented at desired level of detail) and other things that are only necessary for a planning query (buttons for planning functions, save, etc.)
We inserted a few XPATH commands into the standard template that determine if the query is in change mode or not.  With that, we can logically drop the navigation pane or insert extra buttons.  In our case, for planning queries, we create a web template with the same name as the planning query and that template contains nothing more than the buttons that are relevant for that query.
This way, all queries in our system retain the same look and feel across all applications, and effectively we don't do any web template creation which saves development time.

  • Delay in applying Look and feel on jDialog

    I am working with java1.4 / OS as windows Xp.
    Recently i came across an interesting problem regarding look and feel.
    Actually my syatem llok and feel was windows and i set swing application Look and feel as Metal. Now whenever i am launching any dialog on my awing application , The dialog appears in windows LAF for few nenoseconds and then changes to Metal.
    Even if if check the llok and feel just before launcing the dialog i am getting Metal as result
    Can any one help me out about what might be going wrong ?

    I've never noticed this before. (I guiess my eyes aren't good enought to spot something for a few nanoseconds)
    If you need further help then you need to create a [url http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html]Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE) that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.

  • Windows look and feel instead, in InternalFrameDemo.java

    Hi all, I am learning swing and I am trying to modify the
    InternalFrameDemo.java source from
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/examples/components/index.html#InternalFrameDemo
    My idea is to add the line
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true); in the constructor, but it doesn't work
    and I don't understand why.
    Could somebody please help me?
    Kindest regards,
    Lasse
    public InternalFrameDemo() {
    super("InternalFrameDemo");
    //Make the big window be indented 50 pixels from each edge
    //of the screen.
    int inset = 50;
    Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
    setBounds(inset, inset,
    screenSize.width - inset*2,
    screenSize.height - inset*2);
    //FDoesn't work
    JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
    //Set up the GUI.
    desktop = new JDesktopPane(); //a specialized layered pane
    createFrame(); //create first "window"
    setContentPane(desktop);
    setJMenuBar(createMenuBar());
    //Make dragging a little faster but perhaps uglier.
    desktop.setDragMode(JDesktopPane.OUTLINE_DRAG_MODE);
    }

    Uh I think you're mistaken. Whenever in doubt or something doesn't work as expected, check the javadocs. The link to the javadocs can usually be found really easily by typing "java 6 classname". In this case:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/JFrame.html
    If you want to set the Windows look & feel as your thread title suggests, this was not the method you were looking for as the javadocs will tell you. That method controls if a frame is decorated or not (as the name suggests), which it is by default. Setting it to true will not change anything.
    So what then? You type into Google "java swing windows look and feel". Without quotes of course.

  • How to change the default look and feel

    Hi.
    Does anyone knows how to change the default Caspian look and feel to, for example, Nimbus ?
    Or the skin feature turns look and feel setting, as We know in java, unnecessary in javafx ?
    I´m using javafx 1.2.
    Cheers

    Canspian is not a look&feel, it's a skin.
    Look&feel only change the SwingComponent,

  • How does one goes on building an Icon with the 'Look and Feel' of an Icon?

    Hello everybody, I work as a Graphic Designer for a company that is asking me to create an Icon for a software that we own, I am having trouble as to how do i go building one, I use Illustrator and Photoshop but I am not sure how to give the Icon the 'Look and Feel' of an Icon, the colors look a bit different and so the 'texture' of my vector image. If anyone can explain me or point me to a good website that explains how should I go on building an icon so it looks like an Icon that will be great. I thank you in advance for any reply that you can give me regarding the subject.

    don't know what you mean by "look and fell of an icon". You could go to vectortuts.com - it has lots of tutorials on the creation of different icons. Also check hicksdesign.co.uk for their presentations on icon concepts

  • Change of Layout/Look and Feel in BI 7 Reports.

    Hi,
    This is Prem from NetWeaver Portals.
    Currently we have a couple of BI 7.0 reports integrated into portal.
    We have also used Portal Themes to alter the Look and Feel of the BI reports with respect to Heading colors, alternate row colors etc. But the scope of changing the Look and feel of BI reports from the Portal theme is very limited.
    Is there a way to modify it further from BI's CSS?
    Where is this functionality provided in SAP BI 7.0?
    We are also interested in changing the Layout of the reports in BI. i.e. unlike the standard BI format of reports as generated from the Web Application designer, we would like to change the layout as well.
    How is this layout change carried out? Web Templates?
    Kindly spell out a solution for me as I'm not aware of BI
    Thanks and Regards,
    Prem

    Could yo please explain little detial. how do you changed the look and feel of reports through the portal themes. We are trying to change the colors of the execptions and text box and some more.  we have created a custom theme  in which we changed the  complex formatted table  crictal, bad, good colors. when we assigned this theme through personalization to the user, custom theme colors are not seen in the BW report.
    Please let us know

  • Look and Feel Issues from NWDS 7.0.9 on Windows 7

    Dear Experts,
    I have successfully installed a new NWDS 7.0.9 on my 18' inch laptop:
      Windows 7 (64Bit)
      JDK 1.4.18 (32Bit)
    The NWDS starts without any problems however, i am begining to experience some erratic behavior from the projects i have created.
    For instance, when i attempt to Edit the Application  Properties for a WDJ project, the neccessary fields (and tabs) are not displayed hence i am unable to edit properties like the 'ExpirationTime' or create new one for that matter.
    In some cases,i am unable to embed a View into a Window because the neccessary fields to aid my selection of the view i want to embed are not visible for interaction.
    The same challenge occurs with EAR project; i am unable to edit 'application-j2ee-engine.xml' fields because they are not visible.
    After some troubleshooting,i discovered that the screen resolution may be affecting the 'Look and Feel' of the NWDS itself,
    If i reduced the resolution from 1024*768 to a value much more lower, some of these controls are displayed but with the desktop completely messed up.
    Does anybody have a solution to my problem because this challenge is affecting my productivity?
    Could my issue be as a result of my laptop screen size (i am using an 18'inch laptop)?

    Hi Vishal,
    first go to the download section in SMP.
    Roughly follow this path (translated from german ;-):
    SAP Software Distribution Center -> Download -> Further Download-Infos -> SAP Support Package Stacks -> SP Stack Download
    From list select SP Stack SAP NetWeaver 2004s
    A new window will pop up:
    1. Select your stack
    2. Usage Selection: Application Server Java
    3. Next Step
    4. Under SAP Kernel xx bit select your DB and OS
    5. Next Step
    6. You get a list of all components of you selected items.
    Here you'll find NWDS with a filename like JIDE09P_1-10003480.SAR
    You know the rest, right?

  • How can I include a JSP, Maximized, and retain look and feel(WSRP)

    I have created a page group and defined a root page with a certain look and feel. There are two portlets on the page. Once the user clicks on a submit button, the portlet performs some action and includes a jsp included in the EAR file. The portlet needs to maximize the UI to display the jsp correctly.
    Once control returns back to the screen, the look and feel is lost and uses Oracle's default style. I have two questions:
    1. From the portlet, how can I retain the look and feel of the page group when referencing "external" jsp (i.e JSPs in the deployed portal EAR file).
    2. How can I "redirect" the user to the home page in a standard way? If there is not a standard way, how do I use the Oracle specific utilities to do it?
    All of my JSPs are developed externally out of the scope of the Oracle Portal.
    Environment - Oracle Portal 10.1.4 on Release 2 using WSRP to contact Oracle Release 3, hosted EAR file (WSRP Producer).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi José,
    I don't think that is possible. But you can import the css files that ep uses for its look and feel and try to give your web pages similar look and feel. The tables and other controls used in EP are totally different and are done through complex JavaScript coding instead of simple HTML tags. If you want exact lok and feel then i thin you must go for a Webdynpro based application rather then a J2EE application with JSPs.

    Guru.

  • Themed look and feel broken in sub-site

    We have several site collections in a farm using SP2013 + SP1 under a common web application that use a custom theme for the look and feel. After upgrading to SP2013 December 2014 CU, one of the site collections' custom theme is broken. Furthermore,
    the same site collection cannot use most of the OOTB themes. I have only successfully gotten the theme "Office" to work correctly. (I have not tested all the OOTB theme choices)
    Immediately after the CU was applied the CSS and JS on this site collection was not working. After changing the theme to "Office" I was able to test out other troubleshooting options. If I select another theme choice, the "try it out"
    page returns with an error "A cobalt error was thrown." This is not a helpful error for me and I could not find much on the internet regarding it. Another error I have received was "file not found", or yet another error "The
    URL
    '_catalogs/theme/Themed/4F147962/likefull.11x11x32-F47391E9.themedpng' is
    invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file
    or folder that is not in the current Web." I have not been able to fix the issue.
    I have found that under 'Site Settings' -> 'Web Designer Galleries' -> 'Themes' -> 'Themed' is a library of folders. My thought is that these folders are created dynamically when a new theme is applied. I have several folders, but all are empty
    except one. I am now trying to determine why these folders are empty.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Please try to update the latest CU for SharePoint 2013(April 2015 CU for SharePoint 2013), then check whether the issue still exists or not.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2015/04/14/april-2015-cu-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-released.aspx
    In my test environment, the 'Themed' all folders are not empty.

  • JFileChooser & XP look and feel

    Hello!
    I'm changing an exiting applet to have a local look & feel by simply doing this:
    UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName()); When the JFileChooser shows with the "metal" (java default) Look&Feel all is good but when it shows with
    XP (or windows) L&F it has added a "panel" on the left side with icons for "My Recent Document" , "Desktop" , "My Documents", "My Computer" and " My Network places".
    I really don't want them showing since it looks weird on the HTML page.
    Does somebody know if and how I can get rid of that "panel" and still have the rest of the L&F intact?
    Regards Calle

    Check out skin look and feel. They have all sorts of look and feels including windows XP.

  • Stefankrause XP look and feel

    Hi
    I m posting this thread again. Can anyone show the way to get rid of SecretLoader class in Stefankrause look and feel. SerectLoader Code is not available on net , but this is used in Stefankrause XP look and feel.I have tried default icons but does not exactly serve the purpose.
    I've downloded code from
    http://www.stefan-krause.com/java/
    Or if u've info regarding where is icon file for Microsoft Windows XP on Computer that are used in Java, like icons for plus ,minus, or question mark etc.
    Thanx.

    Hi there, I've used this package and u can use DJ - the java decompiler or jad to decomile it. Or event u can use Gel(a Java IDE written in Java) to just double click the class file to view it's source. Gel can be found at http://www.gexperts.com/.
    note the code
    abyte0[l] ^= 0x2a;
    is what the author exactual encode the resource. u can alse use this method to get the original images, in fact, i've done this, hehe. Since abyte ^ 0x2a ^ 0x2a = abyte, this is just a bitwise operation equals.

    Ok,
    is it a bad looking look and feel, i mean do you think this look and feel contains error or is kind of bugged ?
    what i am trying to know, is if this new look and feel cames from a portal desktop change or if it is really a bug.
