Regarding the Report's Default Value
Now the default value of the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine is empty which is a problem clarified by both Luke and Don Williams. Don provided a good tips for code, referring Don's reply at Jan 10, 2014 and Jul 31, 2012, I’ve tested this and it is worked, and I got a default value. However, the other sever problem has been occurred. Since the unmanaged code (COM) can't construct (casting) to the managed code directly, since it is a interface. Otherwise the original all Crystal Document objects will be wiped out, and become null value. Here is my analysis referred Don’s code:
foreach (CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ParameterField rasParamfield in myReport.ReportClientDocument.DataDefController.DataDefinition.ParameterFields)
Here myReport is coming from CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument, so this code will not be useful if you want to keep myReport active. From this point, I do not know what another alternatives could be used to achieve this or using Reflection , and how?
Any responses would be so appreciated.
J. Huang
Hi Johnson,
Correct, but mostly it works without having to set the viewer to the RAS Report Object but just in case you do then I use a flag id RAS has modified the report and set the viewer accordingly:
You still need to open the report by the Engine but then assign it to the RAS client Doc:
add these assemblies:
using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine;
using CrystalDecisions.Shared;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.CommonControls;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.CommLayer;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.CommonObjectModel;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ObjectFactory;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Prompting;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataSetConversion;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel;
using CrystalDecisions.ReportSource;
Global flag:
bool IsRpt = true;
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument rpt = new CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument();
CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ISCDReportClientDocument rptClientDoc;
In the routine to you update the values add IsRpt = false;
In your open method use this:
rptClientDoc = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ReportClientDocument();
rpt.Load(rptName.ToString(), OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByTempCopy);
rptClientDoc = rpt.ReportClientDocument;
Then in the view report button use this:
try
if (!IsRpt)
crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rptClientDoc.ReportSource;
else
crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rpt;
catch (Exception ex)
btnSQLStatement.Text = "ERROR: " + ex.Message;

Need to run the report for All Values when Null is passed in parameter
Hi All,
In my BIP report, I am using a parameter :asset with Type as Text, which means user will type the values for the parameter in the text box.
Now, this parameter can take multiple comma separated values. I have a requirement to run the report for All Values when user doesn't enter any value in the parameter text box and if user enters any value(s) then the report will run for those values . The way, I tried to handle that in the query using couple of ways was :
IMP : My Database is SQL Server
where
(table.asset = isnull((:asset), table.asset) or table.asset in (:asset))
Now this works fine when I give a single asset number but when I give multiple values separated by comma like 123, 345 in the text box, then the statement fails saying 'encountered ,'
I also tried simply
table.asset in isnull((:asset),table.asset) -- but this doesn't work as it doesn't allow me to use in operater while using isnull and if i will use = operater then it won't work in case of multiple values
Any suggestions on how can I handle this? Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ronnythanks for replying, but i tried this option too, it did not work for me, neither isnull nor coalesce. I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1
also please share the SR number, so i can also check the same.
can there be any other work around to this?
thanks,

Report parameter default value do not default correctly
Hello Experts, I have a cascading parameters in my report.
The first parameter called "Project" will allow to select a single Project Name from the list and based on the Project Name, the second parameters which is a "Date" parameter will give out list Months and Year in the Format 'Nov-14'.
For this Second parameter I defaulted the parameter to show First Month in the retrieved list of Months. But the problem is it will display the default Date correctly only certain times (there is a refresh problem). If i select a different project and it
has a month that was retrieved in the first project it will still show the that Month but not the actual default month (Start Month) for that particular Project.
Example: If I select Brisk from Project parameter, It will give me 18 months of Dates in the Date parameter. In that 18 month range first month is Sep-13 it will default to Sep-13 correctly. Then if I select a different project like "Creek" (example)
as Project , the Date parameter retrieves some dates corresponding to Creek Project and in the retrieved months if Date parameter has Sep-13 it will still show Sep-13 even though the
Start Date for Creek project is Jun-12.
1. Project Brisk: Defaulted correctly to Sep-13
2. Creek Project : Should default to Jul-12 but still shows Sep-13
Just for default value I created a separate dataset and used it to populate the default value and the SQL I used just for default value is as below:
SELECT DISTINCT TRUNC(DATE_KY, 'MM') AS DEFUALT_DATE
FROM DATE_D D
WHERE (DATE_KY = ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DT, - 6))
Date parameter datatype is Date/Time,
Available Values Tab: label field is a String but the Value field and the default field (Default Values tab) are Dates
Thanks in advanceThanks Vicky for reply.
Yes you are right but I did not use First function as the query above retrieves only one date.
I used your suggestion but it did not fix it.
In this report I have three parameters.
1. Project Code (Visible)
SELECT DISTINCT PROJECT_CODE
FROM DIM.PROJECT
ORDER BY PROJECT_CODE
2. Project Date (Invisible)
SELECT
MAX(CASENA.MILESTONE
WHEN'ABCD'THENTRUNC(PROJECT_DATE,'MM')ELSENULLEND)PROJECT_DATE
FROM
DIM.PROJECTNA
WHERE(NA.PROJECT_CODE
=:PROJECT_CODE
or'ALL'=:PROJECT_CODE)
3. Start Date (Visible):
Available Values Query:
SELECT DISTINCT
--DER_DATE is "Value Field"
TRUNC(D.DATE_KY, 'MM') DER_DATE
--Display_date is "Label Field"
, TO_CHAR(D.DATE_KY, 'Mon-YY') Display_Date
FROM DATE_D D
WHERE DATE_KY BETWEEN ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DATE, -6) AND ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DATE, 6)
ORDER BY 1
Default Values Query:
SELECT DISTINCT TRUNC(DATE_KY, 'MM') AS DEFUALT_DATE
FROM DATE_D D
WHERE (DATE_KY = ADD_MONTHS(:PROJECT_DATE, - 6))
When you select a Project from "Project Code", it will give a "Project Date" and based on the "Project Date" it will give a date range in "Start Date". That is why I am using "Project Date" parameter in my
query. I even tried using Project code as you suggested but I still got the same result.
Thanks a lot for your reply. -
Report Parameter Default Value at runtime
Post Author: DMiller
CA Forum: .NET
Hi,
I need to be able to create new parameters at runtime and have been somewhat successful in this endeavor. I have one remaining issue that I am hoping that somebody can help me with. Let me explain.
When you create a parameter from within the Crystal XI designer, you are able to specify a number of default values that will display as a list box at runtime. Eg. ParameterName is MaritalStatus and default values are ("Married", "Single", "Divorced" etc). There is also the ability to specify the Default Value in the Value Options area of the screen. This value could be set to any one of the default values above - let's say that I set it to "Single". By setting the Default Value, this causes the Parameter Fields screen, at runtime, to "Select" the specific default value set above - in this case "Single", instead of showing "..." as the parameter value.
The default value setting in the Value Options is beneficial when you have reports that are usually run with certain parameter values and only occasionally these need to change. Instead of having to specify every parameter value, the user only has to set the ones that have not been defaulted or they want to change.
So, I have been successful in creating the parameters at runtime and successfully running the report. I have been unsuccessful in setting the "Default Value" as seen in the Value Options area. I have tried a number of properties on the report parameter object and have not found anything to set this.
Does anybody know how to set the "Default Value" as seen in the Value Options area in the designer at runtime?
Thanks for any help.Post Author: JerryB
CA Forum: .NET
You have described my scnario to a tee. Did you ever figure out how to get the single default value that is available in the "value options" area when working within the Crystal Reports development environment. I am using VB.Net and have a nice report menu form and viewer but recently a user ask me to set the default value in one of my combo boxes and I have been unsuccessful in finding the correct property to use. -
hi,
in a report i want to display defualt value instead of null or blank.
Actually in my report one column contains null values, on this column i put a link,
if the value is null then on a report it display blank space without box.
it doesn't look good, so i want to display some default value if it is null say('-')
Can anyone give solution, how to do this?Hi,
You could try using the empty-cells style on the table.
For example, if you are using theme 12's Standard report template, you could add the following into the page's HTML Header setting:
<style type="text/css">
.t12standard {empty-cells:show}
</style>Alternatively, on the Report Attributes for your report's region, there is a setting "Show Null Values as" - you could put your - in there

Crystal Report Parameter Default Value
Hi All,
I have one issues regarding the parameter in the report.
I have two parameter field in the report. The scenario will be as below:
In my report, i have mobile no & passport no parameter selection. Currently in my report, the selection was like below:
{pax.mobile} = {?mobile} and
{pax.passport} = {?passport}
Formula above was placed in report's select expert. Each time user need to select or enter the two parameter above in order to select the entered data to be reflected into the report. However, my report REQUIRED to allowed null value from the parameter selection. I can enter mobile no but leave passport null, however with the formula above was unable to proceed to refresh the report. I have the formula as below, however it could not be able to work.
(if(hasValue({?mobile}) = true) then {pax.mobile} = '*ALL'
else {pax.mobile} = {?mobile} ) and
(if(hasValue({?patssport}) = true) then {pax.passport} = '*ALL'
else {pax.passport} = {?passport} )
The formula above will display all of the records and sometimes it will b hung.
Appreciated anyone who knows this able to advice.
Thanks.
Regards,
CKhi,
Thanks for your feedback.
I have try one of the example below:
if(hasValue({?Country})=false) then true
else {Customer.Country} like '*'&{?Country}
If country parameter is null, it will retrun all country. But i would like to return Country = 'USA' if my parameter value is null.
Is this possible to do it in the formula above? I tried something like below, but if has parameter value it will return the USA as well.
if(hasValue({?Country})=false) then {Customer.Country} = "USA"
else {Customer.Country} like '*'&{?Country} -
Removing # sign in the Report for Blank Value
Guys,
I was trying to use the below code VB, but i am getting error like Expected: End of statement.
I am new to VB, do anyone have step by step guide to implement the below macro for Excel and remove the # from BEx analyzer.
Do i need write this macro for each query? I totally dont understand the link.
Kindly guide to run the macro and avoid # in reporting.
Do I need to implement this macro on each end user client server ?
Removing '#' in Analyzer (Report)
In ODS, there are records having a value BLANK/EMPTY for some of the fields. EX: Field: `Creation Date' and there is no value for some of the records.
For the same, when I execute the query in Analyzer, the value `#' is displaying in place of `BLANK' value for DATE and other Characteristic fields. Here, I want to show it as `BLANK/SPACE' instead of `#'. How to do this?
I had a similar problem and our client didn't want to see # signs in the report. And this is what I did. I created a marco in Workbook as SAPBEXonRefresh and run my code in Visual Basic editor. You can run same code in query also as when you will refresh query this # sign will be taken care. You can see similar code in SAP market place.
I will still suggest not to take out # sign as this represent no value in DataMart. And this is SAP standard. I did convince my client for this and later they were OK with it.
The codes are below:
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
If queryID = "SAPBEXq0001" Then
resultArea.Select
'Remove '#'
Selection.Cells.Replace What:="#", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, _ SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, MatchByte:=True
'Remove 'Not assigned'
Selection.Cells.Replace What:="Not assigned", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, _ SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, MatchByte:=True
End If
' Set focus back to top of results
resultArea(1, 1).Select
End Sub

This is what I have used in the past and works just fine
Sub HashRemoval()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Cells.Replace What:="#", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, SearchOrder:= _
xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False, ReplaceFormat:=False
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
But I have this as a separate macro that can be called any time.

Help Regarding the Reports in BI
Hi Everyone ,
I have a question from BI Answers.
So in 11g we can find all the recently viewed reports in the Most Recently viewed tabs in Home page ri8.
We have a report with a Report Prompt on date and also we have this same Report on the dashboard .This Dashboard also contains a Dashboard prompt on date .
We have a requirement .
When the user opens the report from recently viewed tab .He need to get the date from the particular Report date prompt But When the user tries to open the report from Dashboard ,the dashboard date should pass to the report and the date which is in the report should be negated .
Ex: Dashboard prompt has a date with june 13th and report has a date with may31. when the user tries to open the report from Recently viewed tab he need to see the data with MAY 31 and when he tries to open the same report from the dashboard then the JUNE 13th should pass to the Report and the report date MAY 31 should be negated .
IS this possible with creating the repository variables and session variables for the dates .
Any help is very Appreciated
Thanks
SamHi Sunny
You can acheive something like your requirement by using a presentation variable and its default value.
In your dashboard prompt, have it set a presentation variable called, say, v_date
In your report put a filter on the date column and set it to "is equal to / is in". Click "Add More Options" and choose "Presentation Variable". In variable expr put: v_date and in the default type your report date in the correct format.

However the customer would like to have a report in which we can see the stock provided to vendor ' Vendorwise or PO wise" .

The stock monitoring for SC stocks at vendor can be done uswing ME2O report.
If you want to see the total stocks available at vendor then use report MBLB -
Using the currentdate as default value for a DateField
I read the chapter about DataBinding to fill a textField with a default value; for example the currentdate.
I don't know how to exactly do this....
I can create a java class that returns the currentdate but I miss how to connect it to the textField.

Hi,
This report BTCTRNS1 transfers all jobs with the status 'Released' to the status 'Rescheduled due to upgrade'.
The Active jobs which are currently running, are not effected by this report.
Hope this helps.

Deploytool "expose the bean as the service endpoint" default value
I use deploytool to package a stateless session bean, it seems to be OK utill "Expose as service endpoint" screen. This screen on my deploytool always has "YES" selected (i.e., "NO" is always grayed out). Any idea to configure the deploytool or the environment variables to allow me make a choice here? Thanks much in advance. By the way, my appserver is SJSAS 8.
YangHi Yang,
Make sure you have added a remote and/or local interface of the the stateless session bean. Otherwise, the wizard will assume that you are exposing the ejb as a web service.

SSRS 2008 R2 Report parameters have default values and report not to auto run
Hi, I am using SSRS 2008 R2 one of my requirements for a Report is all the parameters have default value and I do not want this report to auto run when users open this report. I can create a dummy hidden parameter to break the auto run for this
report. But I am looking for solutions other than that.
Thanks in advance..........
IoneHi lone,
According to your description, you have a report with parameters. Now you want you report not to run automatically with your parameters default values. Right?
In Reporting Service, if you have parameters with default values in your report, your report will always auto run with these default values. We can say these default values are used for report running initially. So for your requirement, if you really need
to see your default value before the report running, the best workaround is set one more parameter to break the auto run like you have done. If you just want your report not to auto run, your can achieve it by removing those default values.

Problem using default value of report parameter 1 to validate parameter 2 passed in to report
I am having a problem with an SSRS report using the default value of report parameter 1 to validate parameter 2 passed in to report (via C#) instead of using the value of parameter 1 that is also passed into the report. Here are the
simplified details:
Using SSDT, SQL Server 2008 R2
SSRS report has 2 parameters:
P1 -- text, hidden, default value 'R1', ... front-end C# code can pass 'R2' or 'R1'
P2 -- text, allows multiple values, list of available values provided by stored procedure (sproc_list) that takes P1 value as a parameter. Hence, sproc_list either provides a list for P1 = 'R1' or P1 = 'R2'.
List for P1 = 'R1' is 'A', 'B', 'C'
List for P1 = 'R2' is 'A', 'B', 'D'
Values for P1 and P2 can be passed in via C# to the report.
The C# front-end displays 2 report choices to the user, R1 and R2, where both choices call the same RDL; but choice R1 passes in 'R1' for P1, and the choice R2 passes in 'R2' for P1.
Upon a users 1st time use of the report no parameters are passed in. Then when the user exits the report, the parameter value for P2 that was chosen is saved off to a file for R1 or R2, and used the next time the user selects the report.
Everything always works fine for report R1 since the default value for P1 is 'R1'.
When R2 is chosen and the user selects 'D' as the value for P2, runs the report, then exits, the P2 value of 'D' for R2 is saved to a file. When the user returns the next day to run report R2, 'R2' is passed for P1, and 'D' is passed for P2.
This is when the problem occurs. The value of 'D' for P2 is validated against a list generated for P2 based on the default value of 'R1' for parameter P1. Hence, SSRS considers 'D' an invalid value for P2 and blanks out the P2 parameter.
The user can then use the drop down list for P2 and choose 'D', but this defeats the purpose of saving the parameter values to be used the next time.
Why is the stored procedure that provides a list of available values for parameter P2 using the default value of 'R1' for parameter P1 instead of using the value of 'R2' passed into the report for parameter P1?Hi Tom,
Sorry for my delay.
If I understand correctly, you have two parameter in your report. It is a couple of cascading parameter. If we have choose ‘R1’ of P1, the P2 values is A, B, C. ‘R2’ of P1, corresponding P2 values is A, B, D. What your requirement is to save the end use
select option of these two parameters.
In SSRS, if we have configure the parameter with default value. When we run the report, the parameter will fill with the default value to filter data. If we want to save the last status we are render the report, we need to update the default value of P1.
If we are query the default value from database, if possible, we can
update the database try to resolve the issue. Alternatively, we can set the dynamic default value for the parameter.
Hope this helps.
