Regarding Versions

Our WebDynpro applications on  J2ee version 6.4 and EP server 6  is not  being supported by  IE 7.0 .Can please suggest us how can we make it run on IE 7.0 also?

Hi,
You must upgrade your EP 6.0 to EP 7.0 (atleast WAS)(<u>Check the compatible SPS also</u>). You cannot run your EP 6.x WD applications  in IE 7.0.

    Hi All,
I have one issue regarding version checking in diffrent systems!
<b>I want to know has version been checked in the different systems, if an existing object is being changed / enhanced?</b>
I need to know the above when i am using one program name from other.
Suppose <b>X</b> is my main program for version checking in diffrent systems.
I will be calling <b>X</b> Program from <b>Y</b> Program and <b>i need to know has version been checked in the different systems, if an existing object is being changed / enhanced?</b>
    Can anybody solve this issue!
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Deep.

    Hi Deep,
             Try these FM "FM_AUTH_CHECK_VERSION", "/SDF/CMO_COMP_VERSION"  and "DBSYCHK_COMPARE_VERSION".
             Hope this might help you.

    Hi,
Have a look at SAP NOte No-
Note 853963 - DO 313 or RSAR 274 when activating transfer rules
here is the text of it -
    >>>>>>>>
    Summary
    Symptom
When you activate transfer rules, the system issues error message DO 313'ParameterID & is not contained in table TPARA' or error message RSAR 274 'Data element for InfoObject & could not be created'.
    Reason and Prerequisites
This is caused by a program error.
This error occurs only if you have assigned a parameter ID to the affecteddataelement but it is not contained in the TPARA table. You can check this on the 'Additional attributes' tab in TransactionSE11.

  • Regarding version

    Hello,
Do we have XI 7.0 version ?
If we have what is the difference between the XI 3.0 and XI 7.0
    Thank you

    Hi,
you can go to system -> status
    and look for component version.
    2004 -> XI 3.0
    2004s -> PI 7.0
Difference is only the application server (6.4 or 7.0) and some minor changes.

  • Regarding version control

    Hi,
Could u please help me out in giving some ideas of version control in sap?
First let me give some example as follows:
First if i develop something in the developement server then later when i transfer to the QA server and later to production server then is there any change in version.
Please give me a details of this issue????
    Thanks,
    Batista....

    hi priya,
    Version Control
Version control is a mechanism that helps maintaining the revision history of a development resource and tracking the changes done to it. It defines a set of constraints on how a development resource can be changed. A development resource that complies with the constraints defined by the version control is called a versioned resource. When a versioned resource is modified or deleted, a new version is created for the resource. A unique sequence number is associated with each version of the resource created in a particular workspace. This sequence number identifies the order in which the versions were created in that workspace. The DTR graphically represents the relationship between the different versions of a versioned resource in the form of a version graph.
For the representation of version graphs, this document follows the conventions shown in this figure.
The figure shows the meaning of the symbols in the version graph.
The following changes are tracked by the version control mechanism of the DTR:
    ·        Addition of the resource to the repository
    ·        Modification of the resource in the repository
    ·        Deletion of the resource from the repository
In all the above cases, a new version of the resource is created.
    Production Delivery
    Packaging
To deliver your product, you have first to package it. There are different packages you can use for shipping your product to your customers:
&#9679;      Software Component Archives (SCAs) – this is the standard way to deliver software for the SAP NetWeaver platform.
&#9679;      Software Deployment Archives (SDAs) – for top-level applications you can deliver only the executable part of the software. You can directly deploy the SDA file.
&#9679;      Public Part Archives (PPAs) in Development Component Interface Archives (DCIAs) – for reusable components (Java EE server libraries, Web Dynpro components, Visual Composer components and so on). You can deliver only the metadata of the components. DCIA can be included in SCA file too.
    How to do that?
Using the command line tool provided with the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment you can:
&#9679;      package a collection of components into an SCA including only the deployable archives. This is required if you do not want others to reuse the delivered components.
&#9679;      package a collection of components into an SCA including the deployable archives and the corresponding interface archives. This allows customers to develop against these components. Those customers can directly import the SCA into their own SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI) or into an SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio local installation.
&#9679;      package the public parts of a component together with the required metadata into a DCIA (and further into an SCA).
&#9679;      include source code into an SCA.
&#9679;      unpack a deliverable archive and drop the result into an existing version control system for example, or directly import them into an existing Design Time Repository (DTR).
Delivery of Source Code for Further Customization
In addition, you can deliver source code to your customers to allow further customizing or add-on development. The deliverable archive may contain sources for:
    &#9679;      individual development components (DCs).
&#9679;      a collection of development components, for example a whole software component (SC).
    Example
A customer can add a new source compartment to an existing configuration, and then locate that compartment in the file system where it is accessible by the version control system in charge. Then he or she extracts the sources with the command line tool to the compartments root directory and refreshes the configuration in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. The compartment tree is populated with components from the archive. Afterwards, the customer may put those components under version control. Deliverables that contain only individual components may be treated accordingly.
This mechanism may also be used for other purposes, for example for setting up a simple backup and restore mechanism for components in Developer Studio, or sharing DC sources without having a central version control system: a developer may pack a compartment and store the resulting SCA on a central share or backup system. Another developer may take that SCA and import it.
    Limitations
Note the following limitations connected with this kind of source code delivery:
&#9679;      There is no support for handling conflicts when different actors in a delivery chain develop independently in the same source code. You cannot prevent the customer from modifying delivered sources. When you ship a new version of the sources, there is no special support for updating and no support for merging the update with modifications done by the customer. You and the customer have to agree on a process how those conflicts are handled. For example, the customer can decide not to import the update you deliver directly into the active development line, but to unpack the delivered sources to some unconnected sandbox system and perform the required merges manually.
&#9679;      When you deliver source code to customers, it is important that you also deliver the required libraries and generators that are needed to build these sources. For example, it may be necessary to ship some archive compartments that contain used components.
&#9679;      There is no support for delivering deletions in a new version. If a source file was deleted, the customer has to manually ensure that the file is also deleted in the Developer Studio or source code management system.
&#9679;      If a customer prefers to work with the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI), this customer cannot directly import the source delivery package into the NWDI landscape. Between NWDI landscapes at different places, sources usually are exchanged through a more sophisticated export format that contains not only the pure source code, but also the versioning meta information of the exporting DTRs. This ensures that the importing repository can detect conflicts that arise due to modifications. If this versioning information is not available, the only way to import source deliveries is to unpack them to a file system and manually put them under version control with the Design Time Repository perspective of the Developer Studio. In case of an update, the customer would have to check out all affected files, merge them with the new versions from the source delivery, and finally check them in as a new version.

  • Two questions regarding versions 1.5 and 2.0

I am going back a few years I know, but can any subject matter expert coach me on two questions related to version 1.5 or 2.0?
First, may I use these versions to place subtitles/captions into videos?
Second, may I also either import prerecorded voiceovers (say as .wav files or other formats) and put them into my videos or record voiceovers natively within 1.5 or 2.0 into my videos?
    Many thanks.

Premiere 1.5/2 does not do captions but yes you can use the Titler to add subtitles or even Encore.
Yes you can import wave or record your own voice over.
You probably need to read this first.

  • Need Info regarding versions in XI

    Hi experts,
How many versions are there in SAP XI..
currently i am working on SAP XI 3.0.
what is the difference between new 3.0 and new versions...
    Thanks,
    Swetha reddy

Now the latest version is PI7.1 which contains below features,
JDBC and RFC Lookup possible through Graphical design. so no need to write java coding for jdbc and rfc lookup.
PI 7.1 consists of advanced adapter engine   which bypasses  to process messages & hence improves performance.
Integration Repository (IR) is called Enterprise Service Repository(ESR)
Introduced feature called Direct Connections, if you want to send some message with out mapping to some receiver.
Introduced Function Library to reuse Java objects in other namespaces.
Introduced MDM adapter with new features.
    etc.

  • Regarding Versioning of Project Code

    Hi,
We are facing one issue. Please try to provide some resolution for the same.
We deployed one .exp on Oracle BPM Server for Weblogic and then created new instances which have reached to certain interactive activity. Now, we increased the project version from 1.0 to 2.0 during deployment after modifying the code. Again, we created new instances for the latest version of the .exp. The issue we are facing is that the old instances are getting executed on the old version of the .exp instead of latest version of the .exp because of which we are getting exceptions but for new instances, if the same code is executed, the exceptions are not occurring. This is coming very frequently.
Please provide some resolution for the same so that the old instances can be executed on the latest version of the .exp
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhishek

This was answered in a thread just recently. I'll repeat it here for your reference:
If there is a minor version change, BPM will automatically use the new process version for in-flight instance. Minor version changes are noted when the version number changes something like 2.3.0 to 2.3.1
A major version change will be something like 2.3.1 to 2.4.0 or 2.3.1 to 3.0. BPM will continue using the old process for infligt instance and the new process for new instances. Note that BPM will force a major version change under the following conditions:
•Deleting an activity from a business process.
    • Changing the type of an instance variable in a business process; the
change in the variable type may make existing values for business
process instances incompatible with the current type
    • Changing business process activity types; for example, changing from an
interactive to an automatic activity type.
    • Moving an activity from a Role to a different one.
These changes will NOT force a major version change.
    • Adding a Role to a business process
    • Deleting an empty Role (one with no activities in it) from a business
    process
    • Adding an activity to a business process
    • Adding a Global or Grab activity to a Role in a business process for a
    project
    • Deleting a Global activity from a role in a business process
    • Changing Process Business Language (PBL) business rules in a business
    process activity
    • Changing Conditions or Due Intervals for an existing business process
    transition
    • Adding any kind of transition to a business process
    • Deleting a transition from a business process
    • Adding an instance variable to a business process
    • Deleting an instance variable from a business process
    • Adding a variable to an argument mapping for a business process
    • Deleting a variable from an argument mapping for a business process
    • Changing the implementation type for a business process activity.
    • Modifying a Screenflow (Adding to, deleting from or modifying its
    flow or activities)
Don't forget that when you deploy a process, you can always force a major version change. This will ensure all in flight instance will continue working with the old process and screen-flows

  • Question regarding versions

I've looked around and can't seem to find the answer to my question, so I'm wondering if anyone out here has the answer or could direct me. I'm using A3 and am really happy with it. No problems, quirks maybe... but no real issues. I'll run through my workflow and ask my question:
    1. Give the images I like a star (I don't compare versions at this point. It's just real quick and is based on my first impression)
    2. Filter for unrated images and mark them all as rejects
    3. Create a smart album based on a one start rating
    4. Go through a second time and pick the best images from the bursts or stacks (The images that didn't make the cut are unrated and filtered out)
    5. Make any adjustments needed to the images that remain in the smart folder
    Here is my issue:
I now have two images in a stack, the original and the version with changes
I have no use for the first version, so I extract the adjusted version and mark that with a star, the original is unrated and filtered out
All of my visible images have a star are batch changed (rename sequentially, rename masters...) and that becomes the gallery for the client
Here's my question: I delete anything the client isn't going to see, be it rejects or unrated images. If I delete the original unrated version after I extracted the adjusted version, am I jepordizing the extracted version? Are they dependent on eachother?
I'd like to empty my rejects and zero's but I don't want to affect the adjusted version.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Kevin

To answer your question - yes the version are independent of each other you can get rid of one without affecting the other but...
You may just want to shut off "new version when making adjustments" in preferences. Then you will not need to go through your convoluted work-flow. You can always choose to make new versions explicitly - most people turn off the preference.

I see that the layout for various versions of PrP have changed yet again. I think that we'll see some confusion on which is the proper forum to post into now. People were getting used to the PrP2 (the closed PrP1 and earlier), then the CS3 and the CS4 fora.
