Regaring change in vbeln field length to 15

Hi all ,
I need suggestion on changing VBLEN size to 15
In the Ztable i have changed filed length of vbeln to 15 and iam maintaining same conversion routine ALPHA.
Now problem is when iam selecting entry from Ztable with existing Vebln its not picking up the entry i tried with appending 0's also
If i remove conversion exit i has to give vbeln exactly same as it present in database .

did u try converting the 15 digit length to 10 digit when writeing the select .. you can user covnversionexitalphainput / covnversionexitalphaouput to achieve the same.
I dont know the data types of ur new zdataelement hope they are same..

Hi Syed,
If you want to change the task field length, it is not possible. It is a native field which is predefined in the system.
But if you want to change the length of the task name itself (for example "design" by "system design"), then it it possible since what matters is the task UID and not the task name.

GL Account Field length

Hi,
My client wants to change the account field length in the doc entry. Standard account field is length is 16 or 17 digits. Its length has to be reduced to 10 digits.
How can i do this ? Can I do this in the configuration (or) customisation ? If it is customisation what are the tables I need to touch ?

Use Transaction code OB13 to maintain maiximum length of GL account length as 10 apart from this you can also write validation so that if any gl account with more that 10 digits is entered system gives error.

Idoc segment field length changes

Hi friends,,
I am new to idoc.
My requirement is in my segment
i am having 5 fields and also this segment is already realeased one.
i wnat to change the field length from 10 to 20 . how to do this ?
actually what i did is
1. i cancel the release for that segment.
2. in that field inside the dataelement i changed the field length from 10 to 20.
3. data elemnt get chaged from 10 to 20 but Export length for that field in Idoc segment still retain the 10 only

The way you used is right. ( cancel release or create a new segment )
After you cancel release, try delete that field, and insert a new one.
If it isn't valid still, create a new segment instead.

If the only solution is to change the sap standard program, simply change the program, it will prompt for an access key. This key can be retrieved in the SAP support portal (service.sap.com) at keys and requests, sccr keys, register object.
Sometimes these actions are outsourced to a competence center, so maybe youre not entitled to do this, in any case ask a resident senior developer for support.

Custom IDOC type Segment-field length change

Hello,
We have a custom segment developed for triggering Outbouds. I'm tring to change the Field length of a deta element used for one of the fields in the segment.
But after chaning the data element and activating it also, the changes are not effecting in WE31/ in the structure of the segment.
Process I'm following:
we31 <segment>
......cancel release
Change data element and activate
....set release.
Please suggest if something else can be done

No, re-importing in XI is different from reloading the metadata into ABAP stack of XI using IDX2 transaction. So if you have not done this, then this could be the main reason of truncating the length.

Field length was changed in R/3 was this effect in BW

Field length of one Field was incresed in the data source.
the same data source/table is used for extracting the data from R/3 to BW.
will it effect these changes in BW side.

It Affects 100%.for the Data.
If the field in the data source is suppose 15 and if the Info Object In BW is 12 the there are chances of missing 3 characters which might be crucial for the client.
But there will not be any effect on Transfer Rules mapping or data load.

We are on ECC 604 and had implemented HR & Travel Management. Reporting on these applications is done in BI. We use ESS and & Mobile Travel for time, travel expenses, etc and use PCLn clusters.
There is business need to change the length of a field from 20 to 40 for the data structure PTK** of cluster table PCL1.
We are exploring various options to avoid core modifications.
We are also assessing the risks associated with changing the field length.
I am asking you for your opinion about the risks associated with changing the field length of a data structure of cluster table.

Recently, we came across the same situation where we had to change the length of a field. Let me explain you what precautions we had taken during that time.
1. Apply the where use list of that table/ Field and check whether it has been used in some program and FM or not. If yes then check one more thing that check the TYPE of another variables on which system has populating data (move, write or in FM parameters). if you will not consider this then you can land you in big trouble. (Conversion dump)
2. Ask the basis to take a dump of the production, quality and data for the safer side if something does not go right.
Now, you can do the changes in your development system and then adjust the database and see the impact of it.
Hopefully, you will not come across any difficult situation in this changes.

We are using SAP MDM Web Dynpro Components - Configuration Manager (NW7.3) to develop the UI. One of the issue while disply field is, Though field maintained in MDM has only 2 charaters UI that displays a full-screen-width field.
I would like to display actual field length maintained in reposiroy for each field. Is it possible??

Change field length via Admin Personalization?

As part of our ESS/MSS config, I have a requirement where I have to change the allowable number of characters for a number of input fields. Using Administrative Personalization, I can change the display field width, but I can't change the number of allowable characters.
Is this possible with configuration, or do I have to open up the code and change that (most likely dictionary changes)?
We're trying to shorten the field, so making this change should not cause any issues...but I need to know how to do it.

Sql*loader field length issue

so I'm loading a file and it's rejected a record where "field in data file exceeds maximum length" the record it's failing on has data length of 625 characters. I'm loading it into a table with a field type of varchar2(1024).
for the life of me, I can't figure out why it's failing. I've even gone and manually copy and pasted the rogue record into the table (via Toad) and it works fine, but I need it to load via SQL*loader.
there is no white space that i'm not counting. Can anyone suggest where to look next?

I build an ALV report using the Factory method. But I can't set the field length.
When I set the field length in a column attributes it doesn't change nothing
What is the problem?

APPEND x_fieldcat TO it_fieldcat.

Field length in af:query

I am using jdev11g R2 and ADF BC,
I drag and drop my VO view criteria as af:query, in side view criteria, all four criteria fields are used LOV to enter value, some field LOV will be dependent on previous fields value selected, My question is due to the dependent LOV used, so the fileds length will be dynamicly changed. Can I fixed all the fields length ? Thanks!
