Regex: qualifying by not matching a pattern

I have this pattern:
(.[^(?<=d)(?=d)t].*error.*|.{0,2}error.*)and these Strings to match:
1 "dtd validation error"
2 "dtd error"
3 "error"
4 "foobar error"
5 "dt derror"The pattern fails to match #1 and #2, which is good. It succeeds in matching #3 and #4, which is also good. However, it fails to match #5, which is not what I expected.
According to me, the second half of the pattern means find 0, 1 or 2 chars of any type, followed by the word 'error', followed by 0 or more chars of any type. I don't expect #5 to be matched by this one, so that's okay.
However, the first half of the pattern seems to say find one char of any type, followed by a char that is not 't' if prefixed and suffixed with 'd', followed by 0 or more chars of any type, followed by the word 'error', followed by 0 or more chars of any type.
The 't' in #5 is prefixed with a 'd' alright, but it obviously isn't suffixed with a 'd' (as I see it, it's suffixed with a whitespace). How come that the first half of the pattern seems to recognize that it is? Or is there another problem with my expression?

Why not create the opposite pattern? It's easier..
     String pattern = ".*dtd.*error.*";
     String t1 = "dtd validation error";
     String t2 = "dtd error";
     String t3 = "error";
     String t4 = "foobar error";
     String t5 = "dt derror";
     System.out.println(!Pattern.matches(pattern, t1));
     System.out.println(!Pattern.matches(pattern, t2));
     System.out.println(!Pattern.matches(pattern, t3));
     System.out.println(!Pattern.matches(pattern, t4));
     System.out.println(!Pattern.matches(pattern, t5));/Kaj

  • String.matches vs Pattern and Matcher object

    Hi,
    I was trying to match some regex using String.matches but for me it is not working (probably I am not using it the way it should be used).
    Here is a simple example:
    /* This does not work */
    String patternStr = "a";
    String inputStr = "abc";
    if(inputStr.matches( "a" ))
    System.out.println("String matched");
    /* This works */
    Pattern p = Pattern.compile( "a" );
    Matcher m = p.matcher( "abc" );
    boolean found = false;
    while(m.find())
    System.out.println("Matched using Pattern and Matcher");
    found = true;
    if(!found)
    System.out.println("Not matching with Pattern and Matcher");
    Am I not matches method of String class properly?
    Please throw some lights on this.
    Thank you.

    String.matches looks at the whole string.
    bsh % "abc".matches("a");
    <false>
    bsh % "abc".matches("a.*");
    <true>

  • Match Regular Expression does not match what Match Pattern does

    I have read through a lot of posts about how Match Pattern does not match what Match Regular Expression will due to not processing some characters.
    However, I found a problem with the other way. A simple Reg-Ex that works in Match Pattern but not Match Regular Expression.
    What I have here is just an example. I want to use Match Regular Expression so I can specify some sub-matches.
    The reg-ex is for: one or more non-numeric characters, a space, one or more numeric characters. At the start of the string.
    How can I get this working in Match Regular Expression? I am working in LabVIEW 2010f2 32 bit. Here is the code snippet and the results:

    I think I prefer the ~ for negation since ^ is also used for beginning of the string. But we work with what we have.
    Let me offer you a tip and perhaps defend the honor of the regex a little bit.  One of my favorite features of regexes is the ability to specify character classes (and their negation).  One of the reasons I have to think about the ~ versus ^ is that I rarely use ^ in a regex alternative.
    Some examples:
    [0-9] = \d (digit)
    [^0-9] = \D (not a digit)
    The equivalent regex for your case is: \D+ \d+

  • Regex: How do I match only when a string is not entirely numeric?

    Hi,
    I'm using java regular expression pattern matching. I want to receive a successful pattern-match ONLY when a string is NOT comprised entirely of numeric digits [0-9].
    So, for example, when pattern-matching on the following 3 strings,
    "abcdef" would return match = true and
    "abc123" would return match = true and
    "123456" would return match = falseI have tried using the regex pattern [^0-9] but this only seems to work for strings that are one character long. The pattern [^0-9]+ didn't work either.
    What I need is the equivalent pattern to [^\d+] (which is an invalid pattern).
    Please note that I have to solve this one using regular expressions, even though it would be trivial to solve using straight java code!
    Any help much appreciated.

    What I need is the equivalent pattern to
    [^\d+] (which is an invalid pattern).Well as its an invalid pattern, how exactly do you expect us to know what you mean by it?!?
    Based on your textual description of what you want, and on the basis that you seem not to want to negate theopposite, how's this (I assume we're talking core Java regex's?):
    myString.matches(".*[^\\d].*");

  • Why is Vanishing Point filter in the latest Photoshop CC creating PNGs that do not match the planes?

    Hi Everyone,
    I've scoured the forums, as well as external sites, but not finding a solution.
    Tried tech support, their ideas didn't pan out. Would greatly appreciate some guidance.
    Every time I try to use VPE, the resulting mesh is fine (the dxf), but the PNGs
    do not match the drawn planes at all.
    For example, I'll use a file from wikimedia. (all images re-compressed for the forum)
    I draw the right wall, make sure it is blue, then pull the floor.
    Pull the floor and the left wall.
    Pull the back ground (hard to see in the compressed image, but it is there).
    Pull the ceiling.
    The completed planes.  Right wall was drawn, remaining were each
    pulled out the of the previous plane.  All blue.  Entire image is covered.
    Importing the VPE into After Effects CC.  Note the wonky textures.
    Here are the actual textures (original PNGs compressed into JPEG for posting).
    This is the background piece, note how the section of the image doesn't align at
    all with the plane I drew.
    Hope this issue is clear to all.  The mesh looks fine to me, just the PNGs are off.
    I've successfully used the Vanishing Point filter extensively in previous versions of Photoshop.
    I'm currently using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.8.4 running on a 15" PowerBook Retina.
    I've tried the following to no avail:
    differing JPEGs
    drawing the floor first
    drawing the first surface counter-clockwise and clockwise : )
    ensured all planes are blue
    disabled graphics acceleration under prefererences
    completed uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled with clean performance/preference settings (did not import any previous settings).removed the "Adobe Photoshop CC Settings" folder as well.
    Tried exporting a DXF, again mesh looks great, textures are wrong.
    Ideas are appreciated because right now, I'm stuck : )

    GOT IT!!!!
    After we eliminated Adobe settings, and the software, I started wondering what's outside that could be affecting VPE.
    It's the resolution of the screen!  I have a MBP Retina.
    Using SetResX, I cranked the resolution of my screen from the default retina 1440 x 900 to the hardware's native res of 2880 x 1800.
    THIS FIXED IT.
    The resulting PNGs from the export perfectly match the planes (DXF Mesh).
    So, I'm asserting that there may be a bug in the current release of PS CC where it is not compatible with the default retina resolution on the MacBook Pro.

    I think the installer finds some remenance of the old SMS_MP. When looking i found some remains in IIS . I tried to remove the remains but still have the same error when installing the client. I uninstalled IIS completly. Can someone tell me where the client
    installer looks for the MP version? Would it help if i installed an SCCM MP on that server and the uninstalled it (Upgrade the MP)?

    Dear Customer,
    Thank you for reaching the Small Business Support Community.
    The RADIUS configuration settings are intended to authenticate the wireless clients attempting to connect through a SSID and if this is the problem you have, I first suggest you to check on the RADIUS server IP address (Security>RADIUS Server), make sure it is reachable, and the authentication port number used by this server to send traffic and the shared key used to authenticate to the server which must match on both sides.  If all that is good, try using WAP Enterprise as the wireless security method and not WAP2 Enterprise.
    If the problem persits I then first suggest to to make sure you run the latest firmware release version 1.0.5.6;
    http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=282981372&flowid=796&softwareid=282487380&release=1.0.5.6&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
    Then contact support if the problem persists; (the "dial-in medium" part error I just don't understand what it has to do with the RADIUS wireless client authentication);
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/small-business/sbcountrysupport
    Please do not hesitate to reach me back if there is any further assistance I may assist you with in the meantime.
    Kind regards,

  • In CSM map, can we configure a url not match?

    Hello! Expert,
    Seems we can only configure the url match by "match protocol http url /a/b/*" in CSM, but wonderring if we can configure "not match protocol http url /a/b/*"? checked the docs, could not find the Regular Expression in CSM has "not match" or "!" pattern. However, in our J2EE env. we really need this kind of configuration. Thans, Q.Xie

    Thx Gilles for your feedback, but I don't think this 2 policies method will work for us. The 2nd policy "match any" just likes our default serverfarm. Seems it's hard for me to describe what exactly the issue we have. Could you or some one tell me directly if there is a "not match pattern" in CSM map implementation?
    Thx, Q.Xie

  • ORA-19007: Schema - does not match expected T0090.xsd for non xsd owner

    I have registered an xsd in /home/divload/xsd/T0090.xsd. User "prmt" is the owner of this resource. User prmt can schemavalidate xml against this xsd just as it is now. However, I have package code in "prmt_app" user account that will actually do the schemavalidate - not prmt user. When I run the exact same code using the exact same xml with the T0090.xsd above I am getting ORA-19007: Schema - does not match expected T0090.xsd. prmt_app has "all" privs on "/home", "/home/divload", "/home/divload/xsd", and "/home/divload/xsd/T0090.xsd". What am I missing?

    I did all that before posting the orignial post..
    declare
      v_schema_exists varchar2(1) := 'N';
      res             boolean;
      schemaURL       varchar2(100) := 'T0090.xsd';
      schemaPath      varchar2(100) :=  '/prmt/xsd/T0090.xsd'; --'/public/T0090.xsd';
      xmlSchema xmlType := XMLTYPE(bfilename('DIR_PRMT_OUT_CVIEW','T0090.xsd'),NLS_CHARSET_ID('AL32UTF8'));
    begin
      begin
        select 'Y'
          into v_schema_exists
          from sys.all_xml_schemas  -- changed from user_xml_schemas
         where schema_url = schemaURL;
        dbms_xmlSchema.deleteSchema(schemaURL,4);
        exception
          when NO_DATA_FOUND then
            null;
      end;
      if (dbms_xdb.existsResource(schemaPath)) then
        dbms_xdb.deleteResource(schemaPath);
      end if;
      res := dbms_xdb.createResource(schemaPath,xmlSchema);
      dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema ( schemaURL, xdbURIType(schemaPath).getClob(), TRUE, TRUE, FALSE, TRUE );
    end;
    / I guess my understanding was that I could grant another oracle user access to my registered schema just like I can grant a single user access to a table. Evidently I only have two options. Only the schema owner can use the schema or everyone can use the schema and I cannot grant access to a single user other than myself.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    I found this in the Servlet API specification:
     A string beginning with a / character and ending with a /* postfix is used
    for path mapping.
     A string beginning with a *. prefix is used as an extension mapping.
     A string containing only the / character indicates the "default" servlet of the
    application. In this case the servlet path is the request URI minus the context
    path and the path info is null.
     All other strings are used for exact matches only.
    According to this, your third one should work if you remove the / and just have *.txt.

  • JAXR.UDDI.027: Multiple Schemes matching name pattern

    What does that error mean?
    I'm trying to browse a UDDI repository using JAXR and I when I execute this line:
    ClassificationScheme scheme = bqm.findClassificationSchemeByName(null, "naics");
    I get the error identified in the subject.
    I think the problem is in the UDDI repository because when I execute the same code on http://uddi.ibm.com/testregistry/inquiryapi the error does not occur.
    My problem is, I don't even know what the error means in order to fix the repository. Can someone point me towards an explanation?

    Studying Monson-Haefel J2EE Webservices, I encountered the same issue multiple times with the IBM test UDDI. The message is accurate: there are multiple schemes with the exact same name in the IBM test UDDI. You can verify this with the following code:
               * ClassificationScheme uddi_types = queryMngr
               * .findClassificationSchemeByName(null, "uddi-org:types"); gives

    I have seen this before after a upgrade of the EDK, found I had to remove the reference in the C# project to the old EDK dll and re add it to the new EDK dll.
    Also noticed that you are using the System.Web.HttpContext.Current fully qualified namespace in the CreatePortletContext() call instead of the usual way of PortletContextFactory.CreatePortletContext(Request, Response) this uses the System.Web.HttpRequest.Page namespace by default.

  • Why my XML is not loading ?? (ORA-19007: Schema - does not match expected )

    Hi,
    I want to load a XML document in structured XMLType. You can run my code on your database if you have a directory object called LOG_DIR. I am on Oracle 10.1 .
    The schema is a simple example which describe a database table(like it will have 1 or more columns and 0 or more indexes). My schema looks like,
    <xs:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="unqualified" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xs:element name="Tables" type="Table">
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:documentation>Table defination</xs:documentation>
    </xs:annotation>
    </xs:element>
    <xs:element name="table_name" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:complexType name="Table">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="Column" type="Column" minOccurs="1"/>
    <xs:element name="Index" type="Index" minOccurs="0"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    <xs:complexType name="Column">
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:documentation>Column of the table</xs:documentation>
    </xs:annotation>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="Name" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1"/>
    <xs:element name="Type" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1"/>
    <xs:element name="Capacity" type="xs:decimal" minOccurs="1"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    <xs:complexType name="Index">
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:documentation>Index on the table</xs:documentation>
    </xs:annotation>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="Name" type="xs:string" minOccurs="1"/>
    <xs:element name="Type" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:schema>
    I registered the schema,
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema(
    SCHEMAURL => 'tables.xsd',
    SCHEMADOC => bfilename('LOG_DIR','tables.xsd'),
    CSID => nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')
    END;
    This was successfull, also the following create table was ok,
    CREATE TABLE TMP_XML_TABLES
    file_name VARCHAR2(2000),
    load_date DATE,
    xml_document XMLType
    XMLType COLUMN xml_document
    XMLSchema "http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/schemas/TDB/tables.xsd"
    ELEMENT "Tables";
    Now I have a XML document,
    <Tables xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/schemas/TDB/tables.xsd">
    <table_name>trades</table_name>
    <Column><Name>trade_id</Name><Type>varchar2</Type><Capacity>50</Capacity></Column>
    <Column><Name>source</Name><Type>varchar2</Type><Capacity>100</Capacity></Column>
    <Column><Name>trade_date</Name><Type>date</Type></Column>
    <Column><Name>trader</Name><Type>varchar2</Type><Capacity>200</Capacity></Column>
    <Index><Name>trades_pk</Name><Type>btree</Type></Index>
    <Index><Name>trades_idx1</Name><Type>bitmap</Type></Index>
    </Tables>
    When I am trying to load this, I get the error,
    SQL> INSERT INTO TMP_XML_TABLES
    2 VALUES
    3 ('tables1.xml',
    4 sysdate,
    5 XMLType
    6 (
    7 bfilename('LOG_DIR','tables1.xml'),
    8 nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')
    9 )
    10 );
    INSERT INTO TMP_XML_TABLES
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-19007: Schema - does not match expected tables.xsd.
    Can somebody please explain the cause ???
    Thanks and Regards

    A quick search of the forum for ORA-19007 should have allowed you to find the answer to your problem. Since you XML Schema does not declare a target namespace you need to use the xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation tag rather than the schemaLocation tag..
    Also please do not use URLs starting http://xmlns.oracle.com for your schemaLocation hint. If you do no own your own domain I'd suggest example.org...
    Finally please make sure that your XML Instance is valid per your XML Schema before posting. You can do this using tools like JDeveloper or XMLSpy. What should have been a 5 min repsonse took me over 20 mins to work through due to the errors in the XML Schema...
    Anyway here's a working example for you

    </Tables>Since you are tracking metadata about the documents (name, date loaded) you might want to consider using the XDB repository to load the documents. The folllowing shows how you can do this from SQL and then create a view which contains the metadata and document content. The advantage of this approach is you can now load the documents using FTP or WebDAV.
