Wow a lot of hate going on !!

i've just came in to see if theres a new driver out and check out the forums again and there seems to be a lot
of hate going on at the moment. just to add my fifty cents i've had creative cards right from the sb6 through the pci 28,audigy,audigy2 and now im using a x-fi extreme music i had an issue with popping at first but rma,d it and not had an issue since im running 4 gig of memory etc and intel chipset. i've got no trouble wotsoever. i must either be a lucky owner or doing something different but i never really had a problem with creative even from the times of the first dvd dri've and decoder card i had when i had a cyrix instead lol now thats a few years ago. anyways i enjoy the sound experience i get from x-fi ingame and playing music etc, i dont work for creative nor a fanboy im sorry to the people having problems as this is a great card...

  • Hi! everyone, I'm here to say : Wow! my battery is going down a lot fast.

    , and I though it was my device , but recently i made a research and i could find some other people than have the same problem .
    I have the problem with my Iphone 4s , and I beg apple could fix that problem out please maybe in a new update with the ios or something .

    first, chrome is using up most of your battery life.
    second, open activity monitor, under all processes, see what's using up most of your CPU's resources. highlight the ones using the highest % CPU and hit quit process.
    also see what you have loading in your login items - delete the ones you don't need.
    optional - open disk uitility and verify disk permissions - repair if needed - this might take an hour or two depending on the amount of errors found.
    as for your battery, you can leave it plugged in all the time if you want to.  this will not hurt your battery since it will stop charging once it's fully charged.
    also, once in a while, use your battery under it's own power and when it's down to 80%, plug it back in and charge it back to 100%.  This will keep your battery in optimal condition.
    once a month, let it run down to 20% and charge it back up.
    never let your battery run all the way down to 0.  this can do more harm than good to your macbook.

    I have a problem with my computer and i want to solve it.
    I have lots of lags playing wow. And may be it would be ok spending 2500$ without any chance playing games as smooth as u want, but on some sites and on videos on youtube i saw ppl with the same computers playing this game on "Ultra" configs (+recording video) and there wasnt any lags. So heres my q - how come i can't? whats the difference? mb i should run some programm or smthing? or my computer is deffective?

    Hi. This may not be a popular answer here, but is there any chance you could try WoW using Windows and Bootcamp? Your i7 MB Pro will run Windows great in a separate partition. Install WoW and see how it goes. Maybe it will run better.
    Games still run more smoothly under Windows than on the Mac OS. A sad fact but true, at least in my experience. Perhaps someone will chime in with some rebuttal that will help you figure out your issue.

  • HOW can I get my iTunes Libray MAIN WINDOW to show in LIST form (like before). NOW only shows an IMAGE GRID. HATE it. HELP please! THANKS!!

    For the last 2 (maybe 3) updates iTunes has been showing my MUSIC LIBARY in a GRID of IMAGES with small caption below each image (usually an empty grey box, but occasionally tje front cover of album). It is a BIG waste of time to look at, go through and find any of my many hundreds of items.
    I want / NEED "LIST VIEW" (or whatever it is called) back.
    I have looked in SUPPORT / iTunes HELP / Preferences / ALL my menus - for ANY info on getting my LIST VIEW back.
    Somebody PLEASE share with me HOW to get a LIST VIEW in the iTunes MAIN WINDOW (NOT the sidebar ...which is in a nice LIST foerm still thank God).
    Going out of my mind on this one - and wasting LOTS of time, going through it.
    Sure it's ALPHABETICAL (in an arbitrary fashion), but do they REALLY expect me to "REMEMBER" - or already know my choice - of what I am" looking for"?? Come on! I open iTunes, SEARCH through my (where'd it GO?) list and choose something that feels right for the moment. Most people do.
    This IMAGE GRID just throws unnecessary obstruction into the experience and takes massive amounts of time to arrive at a selection (especially if it is not one of my first 40 albums (less than 10% of my libary). I want it gone - and a simple LIST VIEW back. ANY help VASTLY appreciated.

  • [SOLVED] errors with fdisk and cryptsetup; is my drive going bad?

    I'm having issues with re-formatting an external hard drive using dm-crypt. It was previously formatted with TrueCrypt/NTFS, which I used as a shared backup drive between Windows and Arch. At some point, it stopped being able to mount, which I attributed to allowing Windows to "fix" it after improper dismount (e.g. a hard kill).
    I decided to re-format with ext4 and only use it from Arch, but now I'm wondering if I may have a hardware issue with the drive. I've tried a lot more (like going through the full zero write after mounting the drive as a temporary dm-crypt device), but here's the condensed version to illustrate the problem.

    This is on a fresh boot. Just adding that as I've had issues with kernel modules after updating if a new kernel comes through. A fresh boot removes that potential issue.

    Things also tend to hang with respect to the drive at this point. For example, fdisk -l spits out /dev/sda partitions immediately and then just hangs instead of printing out /dev/sdb info, then eventually quits (without ever writing it).
    Any suggestions on where to look/how to troubleshoot? I found some possibly related posts, but nothing that looks promising:
    - Impossible to crypt the drive using cryptsetup (fixed by rebooting)
    - cryptsetup fails to open Udev cookie 0xd4d94f5 (semid 0) waiting for z (no responses; the hang after seems similar)
    There's a couple odds and ends references to cryptsetup 1.6.6 having issues. I downloaded 1.6.4-1 and 1.6.5-1 and -2 from ARM to try, but wanted to post this in the meantime in case something stuck out.

    @qinohe I thought of that and the other day started formatting with mkfs.ext4; unfortunately, it was at work and I had to leave before I could let it finish. It had been chugging along a good few hours, and I was surprised it would take that long. I was able to format it with ext4 using Windows 7 (I dual boot) with the MiniTool Partition Wizard but I didn't use it like that before trying to solve the cryptsetup issue again.
    This last time around, I was getting unresponsive behavior. I think I need to reboot each time I try something with cryptsetup, as any commands related to that drive seem to hang afterwards (fdisk, umount, eject, mkfs, or trying crypsetup again). Perhaps I'll just let it cook overnight with mkfs and see if I can at least have an unencrypted, but functional drive.
    One interesting tidbit is that even though cryptsetup fails, when I've tried to issue mkfs afterward, it asks me to confirm that I want to format the disk since it has a LUKS header... so something appears to have been written. Is it possible the header is causing some issues? I don't know much about the structure of a disk (like what range the MBR resides in, what constitutes a header, etc.) but have been wondering if there's some way to start really, really clean with the disk. Like I'd just bought it -- something appears to be lingering around from previous efforts?
    @frostschutz I'll check tomorrow. That's a good question. Just checked journalctl and here are some of the errors that appear; unfortunately, I wasn't watching so I can't tell you what matches up with what command:

    I paged down quite a ways and those seem like the unique messages when I search the journal for "sdb". Anything stand out? I will say that the same sector numbers appeared in multiple blocks of the third error type listed, so that makes me wonder if something is genuinely wrong with the disk. I'll post the output of the full smartctl scan when I hopefully run it tomorrow.

  • Is working in 4:3 Aspect Ratio going the way of the dinosaur?

    It seems to me that all the new flat screen TVs being sold are designed for 16:9 Aspect Ratio. (I know they can play 4:3, but that requires the user to push extra buttons to set that up.) Therefore, am I correct in thinking that it makes little sense to continue to shoot footage and edit in FCE in 4:3 ?
    If so, can previously 4:3 DV be converted to 16:9 within FCE? (How?)

    Over time, yes, I believe 4:3 is headed out. It's clear that the manufacturers are all pushing 16:9 in their product lines. How else will they maintain their revenue stream into the future? People don't go out and buy a new TV just for the heck of it. TVs were a very mature market until 16:9 format came along and breathed new life into it. The format change is certainly a more compelling reason to buy than just getting a bigger screen. And the industry has effectively lobbied the FCC to help them push sales via the switch to DTV in February. There is a lot of advertising going on and a lot of people will decide they should just buy a new TV for Christmas this year because of the switchover coming in Feb.
    However, I do think the transition will take a very long time. Years. There are still millions of 4:3 TVs in use and they work perfectly fine and a lot of owners are not going to switch until their TV gives up the ghost.
    I've not made the move to 16:9. The reason is the cost of going there. New camera, new TV/monitors, and they're not cheap. At least not if you want something better than middling. None of my customers or friends are banging down the doors to have me do 16:9 instead of 4:3.

  • WoW + Airport = unstable connection

    I play WoW a lot and recently have experienced an issue with my wireless connection dropping during play. WoW will stutter and freeze (cursor still moves, nothing else responsive) for anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes. Eventually it will unfreeze but my wireless connection will be dead. I have to turn off the airport and turn it back on.
    Also, this seems to usually only happen while flying or traveling on a mount. Seems many others with Macs are having this problem on the WoW forums. The Blizzard people have investigated and seem to think the problem is the airport driver rather than WoW itself.
    Anyone else play WoW and have this problem?

    Although i have not experienced that,the connection is really bad and unstable via Airport(always 3 red bars).......

  • Got charged for going over in Texts even though I only used 3000/5000

    At the end of last month, I started texting a lot more than normal.  Knowing that I had the 500 text plan I figured it would be a good idea to bump it up to the 5000 text plan on 7/31 figuring that they would just charge the extra $10 to my bill and I would be OK since when I got this phone the sales lady said that if I noticed that I was going to exceed the limit I could just change to the higher plans whenever I want.
    Turns out that while I can switch to the new plan, instead of charging me $10 more they refunded me $2.90, from the 500 text plan, and charged me $5.80 for the new plan at a Pro-rated price.  Normally this would be OK but when I looked at the bill it went from normally $90-100 for the 700 Family Share Plan with 500 texts on the main line and an extra line to around $225.  They had, by Pro-rating both the return and the new plan, caused me to go over in texts adding an additional $91 to my account.
    Since they Pro-rated the 500 text plan via the return and still applied that texting limit through 7/30 I was given 371 texts for that period which I ended up using 623, going over by 252 charging me $25.20. Also with the pro-rated 5000 text plan I was given 1452 used 2110 going over by 658 charging me $65.80 for a total of $91 in charges that should have been $10 for the upgrade for the entire month from 500 to 5000 texts.
    I have emailed Verizon and in a few minutes I am planning on calling and filing a complaint to try and get this rectified, any ideas would be helpful.

    In the future, either change your plan on the date that your billing cycle begins or call into CS and ask them to either A) schedule the change for the first day of your billing cycle or B) backdate the plan to the start of the current billing cycle.  Those are the only methods to avoid pro-rated charges.  If you complain, Verizon may refund up to 50% of the overages you incurred, but since you made the plan change without asking for backdating, you agreed to the pro-rating.  There's really not a whole lot Verizon is going to do for you.

  • Zen 4GB player freezing/screen going black

    I have a Zen 4GB, and recently it's been freezing up a lot; the screen goes black, or sometimes white, or sometimes streaks the background colors, like vertical blinds, and I have to reset it. It usually happens when I press any button, but sometimes just when it's jostled.
    I already tried upgrading/reloading the firmware, and then I tried formatting the whole thing, and neither of those have helped. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Could it be a hardware problem? Thanks.

    We have three family members on different mobile numbers, all using the same account. We're on 600 minutes - and this usually does for all of us. I'm on the HTC s620; my wife is on an old vanilla Nokia (don't ask) and my daughter is getting our new HTC Hero ("free") upgrade.
    We all try to make calls to other mobiles from our mobiles (to make the best use of the included minutes from the 600 minute monthly allowance). 
    We also have a BT Broadband Talk account on our land-line, so when at home we tend to make calls to other landlines from our landline in the "free" periods. I assume that BTBBT is cheaper than standard BT Option 1 for land-line calls out of the free period, but I really don't know for sure!
    Even in the Broadband Talk free periods we make calls to other mobiles on our own mobiles as we assume that - even if we go over our 600-minute allowance, these inter-mobile calls will still be cheaper from a mobile than via BTBBT. Is that correct?
    I often link my s620 to the wi-fi network at home for casual (slow) web browsing, and then find that - on the odd occasion that someone calls us on our Broadband Talk number, my mobile will ring as well! I can live with that!
    As a previous BT Fusion user I was used to the idea that I could multiply my free minutes by calling on my mobile through the hub, but that's old hat now. I'm given to understand that the new benefit is that I can make calls via BT Openzone, but I don't know if these cost me or not? And what about BT Fon - if I can find a FON connection and make a call, does that cost, or not?
    If we don't use our 600 minutes in any one month I assume that the surplus rolls over. All of them, or is there a roll-over cap? If I roll over 100 minutes after month 1, and then have 150 minutes unused at the end of month 2, how many minutes will be rolled over to month 3?
    Texts:
    We have a big family text allowance, although having added some text blocks I'm a bit confused about the total allowance as the bill is so complicated to read. It seems we have 400 free texts included in the 600 minute bundle. To that I've added one or two blocks of texts; there's a bill entry for BT Mobile: 200 texts, and also a bill entry for BT Mobile: 300 Texts as well as an entry for the 400 Free Texts. However I'm only being billed for a BT Mobile: 200 Texts Bundle. Not complaining! Of course this could be because I upgraded part way through a month from 200 to 300 extra - but I'm thoroughly confused!
    Data:
    We've been super cautious about data. I switched to my current s620 (unused by my wife who didn't like the form factor) when my s710 started to fall apart. When I tried to activate this phone its software needed to be completely updated (not surprising as it had sat unused in its box for 16 months). A very patient lady from BT remotely connected to my PC to assist in getting the correct software on to the s620. However, she omitted to tell me that the default state would mean that all my emails would be flooding on to the s620 and I'd incur a whopping data bill as we only have the bundled free 10MB of Data. BT Customer Service have since done two credits - spanning two bills - for over £60 + VAT for erroneous data charges resulting from my software upgrade. For that I am very thankful!!
    Now that the HTC Hero is about to arrive I've decided to subscribe to the £5 Data charge for an  extra 500MB per month. I s that correct  - total allowance will now be 510MB?
    From what I've heard it is not easy to monitor your own account's data use. Is there an App for the Hero? Can I check anywhere from the HTC s620?
    What is the best strategy for getting free Data on the Hero? I'm assuming that the following is free - (a) connecting via WiFi on your own BT Home Hub (or someone else's BT Hub with their PIN/permission); (b) connecting via BT FON (c) using one's free monthly allowance on BT Openzone - how much data or time is this, and is it cost-effective to add to this data allowance, compared with overshooting on the BTBBA 500MB allowance?
    Other tips:
    As well as providing some responses and/or confirmation for the above, does anyone have some more tips for how to get the best value for money out of BT, with a mix of:
    BT land line
    BT Home Hub 2.0
    BT Broadband Talk account
    BT BBA To Go Mobile account

    Broadband (we're on Option 3)
    Mobile Data via BT BBA To Go (Also, would a mobile dongle be a worthwhile/cost-eeffective back-up if you were about to go over the 500MB limit?     I pay a lot to BT every month and I still don't regard myself as anywhere near expert enough in how to use/combine the services for the best value for our money.

    I'm not going to be of much use regarding answers but I sure am going to watching this post like a hawk for any replies. My package is a slightly diluted version of this and I do find the BBtalk and data limits hard to make the most of as well.
    If nothing else this totally highlights how complicated BT have managed to make their packages.
    A cynic would assume that they are trying to catch us out at every step and for us to either be overspending or not really getting the moneys worth.

    Recently I have encountered a problem on my MBP (mid 2010).  So, I know that a computer can only operate in a high temperature for so long.  I understand that. 
    I play WOW a lot.  I know for a fact that my computer's temperature goes from a normal temperature range of around 35 Celsius to about 45 to a higher temperature range of 55 to at its highest 80 Celsius. 
    I use smcfancontrol and I keep my MBP on top of a cooling fan. The cooling fan I use is Antec Unbeatable Notebook Cooler 200. I like this cooling fan. The numbers above were estimated off of smcfancontrol’s interface.  
    Yesterday, after I stop playing WOW, my screen goes black complete randomly.  I was using my computer immediately before this screen went black, so the screen should not have shut off from inactivity to sleep.  My computer has full battery life and was on charge.  I also know that my computer’s battery is about 90% health based on istat nano widget. 
    I previously had a PC laptop that had its monitor shut off and never come back, so that’s why I bought my current MBP.  I was selling my PC lapto for its parts.  But I accidently found that the computer screen still worked probably because a wire wiggled the out of place.  But MBP are more integrated with the hardware than a PC laptop is. 
    Has anyone else have this happen to them or has something similar happened?

    I have a vortex by LG. I got it in feb.2011. I have had trouble with it since that day. Turning off all the time , screen locking up,  sending txt to someone different ,SD card not working ,which I have handled all these problems myself  by resetting/swiping it clean often (which is a pain) taking the battery out ,  turning it off for a few hours , blah blah blah ,you know all the stuff you do to have a phone on the go. I asked around & most other people who had this phone was pleased.  I only know off 3 other people who have this phone.  then about a 3wks ago the SD card wouldn't mount or just wouldn't read @ all. I tried everything I knew to do . I go to the Verizon store waited my entire lunch break ( 1 hour) finally someone tried to help me I told him my problem he said well your going have to buy a new SD card which was about 60$ . I felt I waited for nothing. I spent over an hour for him too hold my phone & tell me pay more money. he still couldn't tell me why it did this or how to fix it . Just pay more money . Well I had a extra SD card from my camera it worked then few day later starts the same thing , good thing I didn't buy one cause looks like I would have had to spend it again anyways ,  but I could @ least call out & get calls. Finally a few days later my screened locked up completely I tried all the blah blah blah stuff again. This time it was no fixing it . I go to a different Verizon store hoping to get better/faster help I walk in & tell the lady my problem again on my lunch break she picks up the phone dials customer service & hands me the phone. I think really I could have did this myself why are you people even here! So the guy on the phone says your still under warranty we will send you a new phone or u can upgrade & get a new phone I asked for what kind of price he said the price of the phone , I said no thanks I just paid 200$ for this phone & haven't even got to enjoy it , just send me a new phone he said it could take up to 5 days!!! What I said can , u get it here any faster he replied yes for 13$ I can ship it overnight but it would take 2 days uh, just thought he said overnight!!! I guess over night doesn't mean what it says but I said I don't feel I should pay it since I really didn't break my phone he said there was nothing he could do but it probably wouldn't take the full 5 days they just have to say that  ... Wow OK so 5 days goes by without any phone to use . I finally get the phone but it take the full 5 days,plus the 2 days I tried to fix it to avoid the stores I follow the instruction to activate it thought it was fine but then the next morning  I get a call @ work from my babysitter stating my phone still didn't work!! After work I go back to the 1st Verizon store (which I dreaded so much I would have rather shot myself in the foot , but I'm a nurse who needs my foot & phone) since I had no help from either stores guess it didn't matter which one I went too. After waiting a good 45 MINUTES for help they finally look @ my phone they were stumped on what was wrong cause it said it was activated but not working they finally call someone & the guy finally tell me its is activated under someone else's # ! OK so what do I do ?? The guy hands me the phone says they needs to  verify my address ( which I thought to make sure I account  holder )  I gave the phone back to the guy @ the store they talk for a few more MINUTES. & he said OK , I was like OK what ! Oh he didn't tell you we are going have to send you  NEW phone again!!! Really I have to go another 6 days without a phone!! He offered if I brought an old phone  back in(which I live 20 MINUTES away) he could activate that one till I get the new phone in... 1st off I don't keep old phones I recycle them ( thought that was a good thing)& even if I did have one it wouldn't be a smartphone & that's what I pay dearly for...  ( a phone store who can't lend you a phone while they are fixing your phone that you didn't break even thou you are still paying them for a phone)  MESSED UP RIGHT! He said it shouldn't be that long they are going to overnight it for free but it was Saturday So he said I should get it TUESDAY.**lol overnight what !! Do I not know what overnight means***  I was like yeah yeah YOU ALL say that ! I left the store in tears I depend on my phone I have a 1 yr old child & my job depends on my phone as well . I go home from work Tuesday no phone image that , Wednesday I get a letter from fedx stating I was not home to sign for this device ! Really cause the last one was just put in my mailbox , didn't have to sigh anything the 1st time. I finally get the phone on THURSDAY. It was late so I waited till Friday to activate since I have already been without a phone for 12 days now. Today is Saturday. Guess what??? My phone is saying to mount the SD card again ! OK really I just been thru 3 phone in 13 days!! I DON'T FEEL I HAVE DONE ANYTHING WRONG TO MY PHONE . I KNOW NEW TECHNOLOGY IS GOING  TO HAVE ITS MISTAKES SOMETIMES !! BUT NOT @ MY COST!!!   • I don't understand why Symbian has been killed off...

    I recently posted my impressions of the 808 http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=374416 and it has it's problems which means I will not be keeping the phone for very long. However if Nokia continued with Symbian which has far more potential than Windows Phone I'd have been happy with it and would have stuck with the phone knowing there will be more updates. 
    Now I've never used Symbian before, unless the 3310 run it, though that was a vastly different experience that you cannot compare. I decided just to give it a chance as the 808 was mega cheap on ebay and I thought what the hell, my upgrade comes in April and I can sell it then if I don't like it. I broke my phone so I needed to buy a new one and it's a bit of fun trying something other than Android or IOS for once. 
    I have to say now I'm not a fan of Windows Phone and IOS being closed systems, I think you can remain open like Android while offering a great selection of apps on the store. Developers really need to get over piracy, especially platform owners and the makers of Operating Systems. I feel like there is this trend to go towards a closed OS as an easy way to combat that, rather than offering a great open experience but having a service worth paying for over piracy. For example Steam has really defeated Piracy on the PC, people still do it, they always will and it isn't always a bad thing anyways. A lot of the time people will torrent stuff and then later buy it on Steam when they know it is a product they like. If that person goes on to tell other people about it then it creates more sales. 
    From what I've read Symbian has this bad image of piracy but I really think that is due to a lackluster service on Nokia's end more than anything. The store needs a lot of work, while it is functioning, it does need a bit of a UI tweak which obviously wont be happening. I also feel like you have to get your apps elsewhere to test them first as there is no protection from Nokia like you get with Android where you can get a refund within a certain time in case the app doesn't work. I've bought a few apps now which just plain don't work and it has put me off buying anything else.
    Back to the topic though, I've never used Symbian before or had a Nokia since the 3310 and I'm really surprised at how good it is. I said in that thread it feels like a mix between IOS and Android and it even has good functionality of it's own. Belle FP2 is either a massive step up far too late or Symbian has gotten a lot of hate for no reason, I don't know as It's the only version I've used. The core functionality is good, it is fast, it doesn't drain much battery and it does everything the other platforms do. Yeah it looks a bit drab but it's so easy to just change the theme unlike IOS and while you can do it on Android it isn't anywhere near as easy as Symbian. I really Respect Nokia for a lot of things with Symbian and while I said the store needs work, it does function. I feel like it probably lacks a lot of options like more categories due to the lack of apps on it. 
    I've only really got two problems with Symbian and that is the stock browser is bad, which wouldn't be a problem if Nokia was continuing development of Symbian because they could easily fix it in the future. I have switched to Opera which fixes most of those issues, though I do wish Symbian supported Flash 11 because of my next point. The second issue is lack of apps, really this is what has lead me to selling the phone come my upgrade in April. You cannot do much on the phone compared to the others because of the lack of apps, if there was Flash 11 it would be less of an issue, however not being able to watch stuff like ITV Player or TVcatchup is a big downer. The lack of games is also another depressing thing and really the lack of development on Symbian is depressing. 
    From what I've seen of Belle FP2, Symbian is a great starting point for Nokia's Smart Phone future, sadly it looks like it has come too late and they've always ditched it for Windows Phone, which I think is a shame. The other biggest issue Nokia had is they never really made good hardware compared to the rest in the past. They've just started making competitive Smart Phone hardware just as they killed off Symbian. If the Lumia 920 came in 2010 for example I feel like more people would have taken notice of Symbian, sadly it came to Windows Phone and not Symbian. Sadly like I said it looks like it took too long for Symbian to get good... though I'm only guessing on that as I've never used it before Belle FP2. 
    I do like it though and really wish'd Nokia stuck with it.

    See I don't think Symbian is the problem, Belle is really nice and what Nokia have done is make it function like IOS and Android. I've used both in the past, I left IOS because I found it too restrictive and used Android ever since. Making the jump to Symbian Belle, it's pretty much the same experience but with no apps, though the core Belle experience feels more refined than Android. It probably just came too late for Nokia....
    I also think Nokia hasn't made a Smart Phone to get excited for until the 920. Everything else they made was sub par, poor specs, poor screen and just very clunky and I'm guessing from reviews, Symbian wasn't good before Belle. Like I said though if they released the 920 last year on Symbian Belle instead of Windows Phone 8, I think Symbian could have survived. Really all Belle needed was the hardware and it just never got it, the 808 is great for a camera but the hardware isn't mainstream like the 920 is. 
    I just find it weird how Nokia handled the whole situation, it took years for them to get going and once they did they retired Symbian and never released it on a relevant Smart Phone to give it a chance.
    The 808 has opened my eyes to Nokia Hardware though, it is good and well made. I'll wait to see if they release a refreshed 808 with better specs and screen this year before I upgrade as I've just seen rumours about it. I'm just not convinced about Microsoft making good on Windows Phone, I don't like the experience it currently offers and Microsoft have never delivered on anything worth while in the past apart from Windows 7. If I look at all their software, I don't remember any of it being good and now with Windows Phone being a closed experience, you're stuck with Microsoft's software. 
    I just think it is a shame, I really like Belle, it just needs apps and Nokia to revive development for it. 

  • My InDesign Crashes In Leopard 10.5.1

    Program: InDesign 5.0 and Photoshop 10.0 from CS3 Design Premium
    Computer: Mac OSX leopard Version 10.5.1., Intel core 2 Duo.
    Problem: When I launch Photoshop I get this message: "Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the 'Get Info' command in the Finder to unlock the file.
    Well, I select the program icon (which is what the message is referring to as "the file") then I go to the 'Get Info' window it shows that program is not locked. I have uninstalled the program, and even the whole suite and reinstalled it a number of times, but nothing works. HELP!
    All the other programs open fine except for the InDesign which will open, but not for long before it quits. No error message pops up with the InDesign.

    Well, I have spent a lot of time going back and forth between Adobe and Apple techs for days, and it comes down to this:
    I was told by both that I could do a clean install of the Leopard and chance that the Adobe Photoshop and InDesign will still have the same problems, or I can wait for Adobe to work on fixes for the software.
    When I originally installed the Leopard it was installed over the original Tiger operating system. I have loads of software on the computer, Quark, MS Office, CS3 Design Premium, and much more and other than some issues with my AOL everything works perfectly except the problem mentioned above with Photoshop and InDesign. AOL is working on a new software for Leopard which should come out soon. It seems that Adobe needs to do the same with Photoshop and InDesign, or make fixes for the many problem, which from I read they are trying to do.
    I would really hate to do a clean install on my computer, with all the work that comes with it reinstalling software, printer drivers, etc., just to find that Photoshop and InDesign will still have problems.
    From some of what I read from others on this string, and in other areas of the forum, it looks like people are often having problems with Photoshop and InDesign even if they did a clean install.
    If anyone had done a clean install and are still having problems, please mention it on this string.
