Hi everyone.
I just ordered my Mac Pro for video editing. I will be purchasing Final Cut Studio 2 very soon. I'm considering buying the software used. How do I transfer FCP registration from another person to myself? What benefits do I miss if I have full installation but no registration?

Mac to windows qucktime registration transfer

Hi,
I have both a mac and pc, My quicktime pro was registered with my mac. Unfortunaltely my mac died on me and I'm forced to use my pc now for everything. Can I use the same registration code on my windows quicktime or do I need to re purchase quicktime pro for my pc?

The registration is OS specific so you'll need to buy the Windows version of QuickTime Pro.

Does CS2 uninstall effect CS3?

I have CS3 installed (upgraded) on my machine and decided to reclaim some hard disk by uninstalling CS2. When I started that process I got the dialog about needing to transfer the registration if CS2 was to be installed on another PC. I hadn't thought about it, but it would be nice to put the old CS2 on my laptop so I would have it to work with when away from the desktop machine. That dialog stopped me cold though, because the last thing I need is to inadvertently deactivate my CS3 install by accepting this transfer.
Does anyone know for certain whether it would or would not effect my CS3 to perform the registration transfer step when uninstalling CS2?

Bob, Thanks. I have two internal and two external drives on the system now. Part of what is driving the reclaim issue is that I can't get a clone of my old core 120 gig C on a new 500 gig to behave. I keep getting hal.dll errors after a few days (never right after the cloning or restore) on the new drive. I've had to go back to the old drive to keep the system going (very long story)but only have 6 gig left on it, so I'm down looking for any space I can reclaim until I can solve the other problem.

Commercial Volume License product

I bought this version of Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & web Premium for a web site in Canada when I received the item I get this letter telling me that this is a Commercial Volume License Product. Then is says that it will automatically register once it's activated the Registration transfers to my name after I install it and activate the product. My question is will this cost me a fee to do this and do I have to belong to some kind of service to use this software I hope I didn't get myself into something that is going to cost me a bunch of money because the price of the package was so cheap from the vender. SO I NEED SOME HELP HERE ASAP SO IF I NEED TO SEND THIS BACK BEFORE MY TIME IS UP IF I SEND IT BACK IT WILL COST ME 20% FOR BUYERS REMORSE!!!!

It seems I have purchased a copy of CS6 from the same outfit based in Canada. I ordered the CD version, which arrived shrink-wrapped and seemingly legit, although smaller than most Adobe product boxes I have purchased in the past. It came with a note that reads:

"There is no need to register your product manually with Adobe, please note:
The product you purchased is a Commercial Volume License Product, which means; unlike a Commercial Retail product that can be registered manually, the commercial volume product registration of the product is done automatically once it's activated. Registration Transfer to your name takes place after you install the product and activate it. You will see it registered in your account automatically within 30-45 days: (transfer process time). The reason the transfer process takes this amount of time, is due to Adobe's back log and they must go through their processing queue in order to transfer client installation information with Volume Licensing.
"In addition the advantages of a Commercial Volume License product is that it can be installed and used on 2 computers simultaneousy, whereas a Retail product can only be installed and used on 1 computer simultaneously.

Well, I do have questions, a lot of them. This is all strange and garbled, and has little in common with any licensing procedure I have ever known. I have not broken the shrink wrap, and have left a message for their customer support.
Rajshree, or anyone: what do you make of this? I suspect someone may have purchased a valid Commercial Volume License but is now selling off individual disks. Can they do this legitimately? The software was somewhat inexpensive, but not excessively so.
Anything anyone can suggest would be welcome. Thanks.

Second hand license legal?

I've recently found a company willing to sell their CS3 software to me (which I'll be using for commercial use). However, they've lost their purchase records and thus will be unable to transfer the registration to my account (which is normally the way to legally transfer a license).
They however offered a written transfer of license (a document which confirms I'll now be the legal owner of the license rather than them), and have already uninstalled/deactivated all software related to this license on their systems.
My question is, if I would go with this, am I than using the software legally? Or is a correct registration transfer absolutely required to operate Adobe software legally?

That may involve a lot of hocuspocus and escalating the support case up to the board of directors... *lol*. You just have to be patient about the matter. It's not impossible, but may require a lot of paperwork. I'm sure it's legit, but despite their best intentions, registering this software to your Adobe ID is something you cannot circumvent. It may not be an issue now, but it will be when you upgrade one day...

The licensing agreement allows you to activate Acrobat on up to two computers. So, if you've only activated in your old computer, you simply need to install and activate Acrobat on the second computer. FWIW, if you purchased Lion at the app store, the license is not transferable; what that means is that both your machine ID (serial number) and your Apple ID are registered to that purchase. If your family member wants to update the OS because Apple issued an update, she may not be able to unless she has access to your Apple ID - which is something you do not want to share.

You can also go on Apple's website to edit your Support Profile to delete ownership registration of your product(s).
The new user then simply registers his "new" device, also online. Once you have deleted ownership, the serial number is freed for a user (new owner) to add it. The new owner should obtain an Apple ID first.

is there a way where i can transfer all my computer files and apps to another computer without having to manually reenter all the serial numbers for the applications?

the problem isn't that i don't have something like carbon copy, (i'm using time machine), the problem is that i have to look for all my old registration numbers for my applications. one time my hard drive died and i put all my files on my computer and i didn't have to put in any registration numbers. i want to do that again. maybe if i select start the computer up for the first time it will do the trick.

I think you have to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country.
I think you will need also a confirmation from you dealer who has registered this notebook.
But the ASP should give you more details what is needed.

Can't transfer registration or buy subscription (after moving within Europe)

Hi all, hoping for some help.
I moved from Ireland to France.
My Account and store purchases are still registered as Ireland and cannot be changed online.
I contacted Adove Livechat and was told they can't help that it would have to be escalated and someone should be in contact withn me via email.
Problem is I want to take advantage of the Photoshop+Lightroom subscription deal straight away but I can't do it until my account and registered products are shown as France so I can pay with my French credit card, VAT details etc.
Fingers crossed someone can help or someone from Adobe Store has the answer.

Unfortunately we cannot change the country associated with an Adobe ID. Do you have another email address you could use to create a new ID with France as the country? We could then transfer your product registrations to the new ID & you can then sign up for the Photoshop Photography Program.

Do you still have access to the old MacBook Pro? If so, you can transfer the license by copying the com.apple.iwork.plist from Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences to the same location on the new Mac. Note that this IS the main HD Library, not your user library. I have found that these files are not moved during setup or migration.
Are you really running Tiger 10.4.7? If so, you should update to 10.4.11. You can find the updater here. You also might consider buying the retail disk of iWork '09 from a third-party such as Amazon.com or eBay. It will add a lot of features for you. iWork '09 does require Tiger 10.4.11 at a minimum.
