Do you still have access to the old MacBook Pro? If so, you can transfer the license by copying the com.apple.iwork.plist from Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences to the same location on the new Mac. Note that this IS the main HD Library, not your user library. I have found that these files are not moved during setup or migration.
Are you really running Tiger 10.4.7? If so, you should update to 10.4.11. You can find the updater here. You also might consider buying the retail disk of iWork '09 from a third-party such as Amazon.com or eBay. It will add a lot of features for you. iWork '09 does require Tiger 10.4.11 at a minimum.

I have an old iPod nano which I think is from the second generation (model number A1199 if that helps) with software at the latest version it can accept, 1.1.3. I wish to make a playlist out of the songs currently on the iPod, but I can't see any easy way to do that from the iPod itself. The next logical thought is to do it through iTunes, but the iTunes that was originally synced to the iPod died several years ago now, so I can't access that to make a playlist through (it's a very old iPod). I do have iTunes currently on this computer, but that's synced with my iPhone and stores different songs which I don't want to be mixed with those from the old iPod (due to the mostly nostalgic nature of the iPod songs). Is there any way I can either create a new playlist from the iPod itself, or through iTunes without having to sync? Also note that most of the songs on the old iPod were uploaded to iTunes from CDs and so aren't connected with any iTunes Login.
Thanks for any help you can give. Also, I sorta need to create this playlist ASAP so any advice you could give would be much appreciated
~ImamadmadThe old iTunes library was lost with the old PC. However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

The Windows computer that I activated my copy of Lightroom 4 Student and Teacher edition died. I deactivated the program but now I do not know how to re-activate the program on the new computer. What can I do?
Tjdaiv Lightroom 4 does not utilize activation technology. You can install the software on your new computer without being concerned about de-activating the software on your previous computer.

I wish to transfer the library on my iPod classic to the library on my pc held on iTunes. I have tried to set home sharing but this does not seem to be working. The original pclibrary was held on my previous pc if that makes any difference. My iPod has over 200songs in its library and the library on my pc shows 3 songs which I purchased from iTunes. Works fine in Windows - copy your entire iTunes library to an external USB drive, plug this into your laptop, start iTunes while holding down the shift key and then select the iTunes library on the external drive. Alternatively you can can repeat the copy process from the external drive to your laptop. Once you have the duplicated libraries Microsoft's SyncToy tool does a good job of keeping the content of the different libraries in sync. You can also copy over a network but unless your library is small this can be very slow. I've used this method for years so that I can have the same library content at home (master), at work, and on the road. One point to note is that this only works if you set iTunes (via Edit > Preferences > Advanced) to keep iTunes media folder organized and copy files to iTunes folder. Other thing is to make sure you exit from iTunes before copying/synchronizing the library, as otherwise the iTunes library files (.itl and .xml in Windows) may be inconsistent with content (everything in iTunes\iTunes Media).

Pages died today. Just downloaded the latest update 2 days ago. Last night shutting down my very new MacBook Pro Retina, Pages stopped shut down. Today Pages will not open, all my Pages docs cannot open. Help please! Anybody have a fix?
You probably have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 in your Applications folder, will open Pages '09 files but will alter/damage them. It can not open Pages '08 files.
Pages '08/'09 in your Applications/iWork folder which can not open Pages 5 files.
When you were shutting down you probably had an unsaved document open.
You probably are opening the wrong versions of Pages to open the wrong document format.
Pages 5 has had over 90+ features removed.
Most users are going back to Pages 09 whilst Apple sorts this out.

If your iTunes library is on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not recognizing the library, first make sure the right library is selected.
You can use these steps to make sure iTunes is opening the library on your external drive:
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:
Pick Choose Library and locate the library on your external hard drive.

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!We're sorry.

My circa 2007 iMac freezes up, and rainbow wheel appears when this happens. I know the computer is starting to get old but I can't afford a new one at this time and would love to continue using my Mac, but it's frustrating. Most of the time I ONLY have 1 thing open at a time, and keep my tabs down to a minimum. I bought this to do film editing on but with it acting like this I cannot do that. I know I need a ram upgrade (currently running 2 gb) and my OS is old, 10.5.8, but I think even with it being a bit outdated it should run better than this. Would a fresh install or OS upgrade resolve this? Or any other suggestions to keep this clunker chugging along for a little while longer?
How full is the hard drive?
Do you run any virus software or hard drive "cleaner" software like MacKeeper?
If your model is from 2007 you can install up to 6 GBs of RAM.
2 GBs is the barest of minimum RAM for OS X to run on.
Especially if doing video work. You simply do not have sufficient RAM.
Also OS X 10.5.8 Leopard support ended around 2009.
You could update to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, at least.
It is available on disc from the Apple store for U.S. $19.99.
I Would seriously upgrade your iMac's RAM to the max. 6 GBs before doing this.

about a month ago, Mavericks had an automatic update. I have a Windows 7 partition bootcamped on my macbook pro. Before the update, everything was fine. Now, when I attempt to start Windows partition, as soon as I touch the keyboard or mouse the screen goes black and I can't go any further. I have tried to re-load the bootcamp drivers and try again. It does the same thing. Any help would be great.

When i go to send a new text, the text field isn't blank. There is already text entered in the message body that I have to go in and delete before typing my new text. this prevents me from forwarding anything through text because if I get something I wish to forward, selecting forward as an option always brings up the same junk just like when trying to send a new message. How can i remedy this?
Here it goes -
1) Download iBackupBot: http://download.cnet.com/iBackupBot/3000-2141_4-10969873.html
2) Plug phone into computer and run backup
3) Use "Explorer" box to find Messages: HomeDomain/Library/SMS/Drafts/(null).draft/
4) In "Null Drafts" there is a file "message.plist"
5) Double click to open, (cancel the popup if you did not purchase the iBackupBot) and you will see the prepopulating message on the <string> line 6
6) Delete the offending text, leave all code
7) Close text editor
8) Right click on message.plist file and select "Restore selected item(s) to device"
9) File will be restored to your phone and it will restart itself.
10) Voila! Now it is time to consider that Windows phone....:) -
