Release Management fails to locate log file

Hi,
I'm using Visual Studio Release Management to deploy MSI packages.
When I try to "View Log" I get the following error:
There was an error while reading the log: Could not find file 'C:\Users\zzzzzz\AppData\Local\Temp\RM\T\RM\xxxxxx\201503051135578722385-6\__Installer__.log'.
And the step reports Success when it should have reported an error (The MSI returns an error).
Any idea why the log is not generated?
Thanks,
Gilad

Hi Gilad,
You can check whether you can find the log in the path. If the log not exist, you can do a new release and check the log after doployment.
I'd like to know the error details about MSI. If the deployment succeed, then the release can be taken as successful.

  • Java.io.IOException: Failed to rename log file on attempt to rotate logs

    Hello.
    I'm currently using Weblogic 5.1 SP6 on WinNT Server 4.0 SP6.
I set the weblogic.properties file like this so that the "access.log" will
be rotated every day at midnight.
    -- weblogic.properties --
    weblogic.httpd.enableLogFile=true
    weblogic.httpd.logFileName=D:/WLSlog/access.log
    weblogic.httpd.logFileFlushSecs=60
    weblogic.httpd.logRotationType=date
    weblogic.httpd.logRotationPeriodMins=1440
    weblogic.httpd.logRotationBeginTime=11-01-2000-00:00:00
    -- weblogic.properties <end>--
The rotation has been working well, but one day when I checked my
weblogic.log, I was getting some errors.
I found out that my "access.log" wasn't being rotated (nor being written,
flushed) after this error came out.
After rebooting WebLogic, this problem went away.
Has anyone clues about why WebLogic failed to "rename log file?"

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control log file location

Any one knows where the log file is for Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control. I am trying to set up EUS proxy authentication and running into issues when trying to search proxy user in my DB. The search returns no results and I am not sure where to look for. Please not my setup does work for EUS with shared or exclusive schema. I need to use Oracle DB proxy authentication for my application and that would need a setup of EUS with proxy permissions so please advice if you know where the log file is for Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control or if there is any logging I can turn on to see what search parameters are passed from Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control to my DB by using DB audit etc.
    Thanks,

    Be patient...wait for report.

  • Reader 10.1 update fails, creates huge log files

Last night I saw the little icon in the system tray saying an update to Adobe Reader was ready to be installed.
I clicked it to allow the install.
Things seemed to go OK (on my Windows XP Pro system), although very slowly, and it finally got to copying files.
It seemed to still be doing something and was showing that it was copying file icudt40.dll.  It still displayed the same thing ten minutes later.
I went to bed, and this morning it still showed that it was copying icutdt40.dll.
There is no "Cancel" button, so this morning I had to stop the install through Task Manager.
Now, in my "Local Settings\TEMP" directory, I have a file called AdobeARM.log that is 2,350,686 KB in size and a file MSI38934.LOG that is 4,194,304 KB in size.
They are so big I can't even look at them to see what's in them.  (Too big for Notepad.  When I tried to open the smaller log file, AdobeARM.log, with Wordpad it was taking forever and showing only 1% loaded, so after five minutes, I terminated the Wordpad process so I could actually do something useful with my computer.)
You would think the installer would be smart enough to stop at some point when the log files begin to get enormous.
There doesn't seem to be much point to creating log files that are too big to be read.
The update did manage to remove the Adobe Reader X that was working on my machine, so now I can no longer read PDF files.
Maybe I should go back Adobe Reader 9.
Reader X never worked very well.
Sometimes the menu bar showed up, sometimes it didn't.
PDF files at the physics e-print archive always loaded with page 2 displayed first.  And if you forgot to disable the look-ahead capability, you could get banned from the e-print archive site altogether.
And I liked the user interface for the search function a lot better in version 9 anyway.  Who wants to have to pop up a little box for your search phrase when you want to search?  Searching is about the most important and routine activity one does, other than going from page to page and setting the zoom.

    Hi Ankit,
    Thank you for your e-mail.
Yesterday afternoon I deleted the > 2 GB AdobeARM.log file and the > 4.194 GB
    MSI38934.LOG file.
So I can't upload them.  I expect I would have had a hard time doing so
    anyway.
It would be nice if the install program checked the size of the log files
before writing to them and gave up if the size was, say, three times larger
    than some maximum expected size.
The install program must have some section that permits infinite retries or
some other way of getting into an endless loop.  So another solution would be
to count the number of retries and terminate after some reasonable number of
    attempts.
Something had clearly gone wrong and there was no way to stop it, except by
going into the Task Manager and terminating the process.
If the install program can't terminate when the log files get too big, or if
it can't get out of a loop some other way, there might at least be a "Cancel"
button so the poor user has an obvious way of stopping the process.
As it was, the install program kept on writing to the log files all night
    long.
Immediately after deleting the two huge log files, I downloaded and installed
    Adobe Reader 10.1 manually.
I was going to turn off Norton 360 during the install and expected there
would be some user input requested between the download and the install, but
    there wasn't.
The window showed that the process was going automatically from download to
    install.
When I noticed that it was installing, I did temporarily disable Norton 360
    while the install continued.
    The manual install went OK.
I don't know if temporarily disabling Norton 360 was what made the difference
    or not.
I was happy to see that Reader 10.1 had kept my previous preference settings.
By the way, one of the default settings in "Web Browser Options" can be a
    problem.
I think it is the "Allow speculative downloading in the background" setting.
When I upgraded from Reader 9 to Reader 10.0.x in April, I ran into a
    problem.
I routinely read the physics e-prints at arXiv.org (maintained by the Cornell
University Library) and I got banned from the site because "speculative
downloading in the background" was on.
[One gets an "Access denied" HTTP response after being banned.]
I think the default value for "speculative downloading" should be unchecked
and users should be warned that one can lose the ability to access some sites
    by turning it on.
I had to figure out why I was automatically banned from arXiv.org, change my
preference setting in Adobe Reader X, go to another machine and find out who
to contact at arXiv.org [I couldn't find out from my machine, since I was
banned], and then exchange e-mails with the site administrator to regain
access to the physics e-print archive.
The arXiv.org site has followed the standard for robot exclusion since 1994
(http://arxiv.org/help/robots), and I certainly didn't intend to violate the
rule against "rapid-fire requests," so it would be nice if the default
settings for Adobe Reader didn't result in an unintentional violation.

  • Adobe Application Manager failed during update and fils to reinstall

    G'day All,
I put this up in November last year in a Creative Suites discussion thread (sse blow the line), and though the original post has been viewed more than 280 times, I have received no responses. I simply cannot update my CS6 software. I have just reposted the information below there, and figured I should try here, also.
Details : CS6 design and web premium, HP Pavilion quad-core i7,  now running Windows 8.1
Essentially my application manager failed while it was upgrading itself as I was attempting to fix a problem with Acrobat/the Adobe PDF printer constantly failing after printing only one PDF. The updater/application manager then simply disappeared from my system altogether.
At the time of the original problem I had downloaded ApplicationManager7.0_all.exe; if I attempt to run it I get a pop-up window 2/3rds of the way through the installation and the following message 'Installer failed to initialise. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem'.
Adobe Support Advisor no longer exists.
So I tried the latest version - ApplicationManager8.0_all.exe. This installed just fine, but seems to be entirely oriented around CC applications, so I haven't tried it on my CS6 programs. Should I just uninstall it? I rather wonder why it says 'This patch will install the Adobe Application Manager that is included with Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Creative Suite 6, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 products' if, in fact, it's just for CC products.
So, any suggestions on what to do now? I'd really like to be able to update my applications via a Manager that will actually function.
    regards,
    Bill
    G'day All,
(CS6 design and web premium, Windows 8. HP Pavilion quad-core i7)
    Frankly, this is ridiculous.
Having been driven nuts by the 'Acrobat manager is not activated' message which persisted in popping up if I made any attempts beyond one to create a PDF - that is, I could print one, and then no others without a reboot, nor having done so could I read any PDFs - I searched online and got a discouraging, tangled mess of suggestions, including the fairly obvious one of checking that all programs had been updated by the Application Manager.
'Ah,' I thought, 'maybe if I ensure everything's up-to-date this thing where Acrobat failing to start because it thinks it's not 'activated' means I can neither read nor print PDFs will be miraculously fixed without my having to install magical patches or deregister and reregister the entire suite in order to appease a program I don't even use or want!'
Poor naive fool that I am!
So I tried to run the Application Manager.
It momentarily flashed a message claiming (I believe - it was only there for a second) another instance of itself was running, then proceeded to run an update process for the application itself, then threw up an administration window seeking to allow the program to modify the system about 2/3rds of the way through, and then announced via a little window with one of those horrible little red 'fail' symbols that the application manager had failed to install.
    It sure had!
That's it - I now have no Application Manager to attempt to manage updates through! No shortcut - that disappeared too! Nothing in the hideous Windows 8 start menu! No search will reveal it! It's simply gone. Yes, I've rebooted.
All I can find online suggests installing a new instance of the Application Manager, which is, of course, the CC version, and I'm not a subscriber. OK, maybe that will work, but, quite frankly, with two strikes against Adobe already I'm going to ask if anyody actually knows whether this approach, or any other, is likely to solve the problem.
    regards,
    Bill

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. Sure am! But that's not the main problem.
However, it appears the main problem has been fixed - via the installation of AAM 8 - a mere 9 months later! CS6 updates - woohoo!
This didn't fix the Adobe PDF printing thing - in fact, I just lost everything I'd previously typed in response to you testing this hadn't been fixed by AAM 8's updates (it hasn't!).
However, during the 9 month fallow period I've discovered that if I keep process explorer open and kill the splwow64.exe/acrotray.exe process tree after every single PDF printing  I don't get bizarre messages telling me the Adobe PDF printer isn't 'activated' or have my system go into a tizzy and need rebooting. So it still doesn't really work, but I do have a work-around...
    regards,
    Bill

  • More details about message with code 31 (DNS update failed) in DHCP log file.

    Hello,
Is there any way in Windows Server 2008 R2 to identify which exactly update has failed in DNS when code 31 is encountered.
It is for "A" record or "PTR" record of DNS ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Steven,
Thanks for your answer. I will look at DNS event logs.
I am asking about it because in DHCP server log time to time I can see blocks of following records:
    30  04/14/15  16:19:02
    DNS Update Request     10.1.10.5
    PC1.domain.local  0

For this VLAN DHCP is about to update both „A” and „PTR” RRs. Besides that I can that transactionID (2255794051) is the same.
Does it mean that first 3 records are about let’s say “A” RR for which update has failed and last 3 records are for “PTR” RR for which update succeeded?
Or, does it mean that these are two consecutive attempts to update both RRs where first attempt failed but second one succeeded?

  • Location of file sites.log

    Dear Forum Users:
Please, i need to know where is located log file sites.log. I know that this file is located in logs folder. But i don't know which is the complete path. I work with a server that contains an OWCS plattform.
Thanks in advance and excuse for my english (This language is not my native language).

Basically the path can be selected at installation time.  The parent folder you're looking for is the "Sites home folder".
The sites.log file is located in the <wcshome>/logs folder.  The <wcshome> folder is the folder corresponding to the "inipath" context parameter in the web.xml file.  It's usually located in the home folder of the user who is running your instance of Sites.

    PURPOSE
    Customer에게 Oralce Processing Manufacturing(OPM)/Order Management(OM)
    Explanation
Order process
    예를 들면;
    a) Order pad에 문제가 있다면 사용자는 Tools > Debug을 'On'으로 setting
    c) 만약 Transact process move order form(manual allocation screen)의

    from v$parameter
    where name like 'utl_file_dir';
    2. OM: Debug Directory profile option 값으로 step1의 결과값이 setting
    되어져 있는지 확인한다.
    3. Order pad에서 log file 생성:
    1) OM: Debug level profile을 '5'로 setting
    2) Order pad에서 Tools > Debug를 ON, lof file name을 적어 놓는다.
    3) Issue를 재현하고 step1 결과로 나온 경로에서 log file을 검색한다.
    4. Pick release concurrent log file을 생성하기 위해서는 profile option
OM: Debug level을 '5' setting 후 pick release를 concurrent manager
    2) Manual allocation
    $Profiles/db_session_id 위에서 찾을 수 있다.

  • Text log file Monitor

    Hi Team,
i have a task to create a log file example SCOM.log, the log has all text entries and the pattern is like below
"[0014 20140724 094527069 SCOM E] ProcessDeposits(), DMGATEWAY internal error in plugin: An exception occurred while processing terminal transaction with HostTransactionID: '4143', tracking fact Id: '3' in the Deposit Gateway Processor task 7. The transaction
    will be NOT be re-queued. // "
we need to monitor anything which has "DMGATEWAY internal error in plugin:" string.
sometimes we have greater then 10 entries with in few seconds.
once the log file reaches 10MB all the entries are moved to an archive log file that means the present SCOM.log file is empty and start from line one again.
any suggestions \ solution will be a great help and also let me know if you need any further information

    Hi Raj,
Have a read through this post it highlights issues with log monitoring:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/827464fd-ff06-495d-8ac6-4a6e337314d3/bug-in-scom-log-file-monitor?forum=operationsmanagergeneral
Have a look at creating a script monitor to monitor the log file:
    http://www.opsmanager.se/2012/11/06/text-log-monitoring-part-1/
    http://www.opsmanager.se/2012/12/17/text-log-monitoring-in-operations-manager-part-2/
The issue you are experiencing is a limitation of scom which is documented here:
     http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2691973/en-us
    Snippet  from KB:
    Additional Information
When monitoring a log file, Operations Manager remembers the last line read within the file (a 'high water mark'). It will not re-read data before
this point unless the file is deleted and recreated, or renamed and recreated, which will reset the high water mark.
If a logfile is deleted and recreated with the same name within the same minute, the high water mark will not be reset, and log entries will
be ignored until the high water mark is exceeded.
An implication of this is that log files that are cleared periodically without being renamed and recreated, or deleted and recreated, will not have entries in them processed until the high water mark from before the log is cleared is exceeded.
Operations Manager cannot monitor 'circular log files' (i.e. log files that get to a certain size or line count, then start writing the newest entries at the beginning of the log) for the same reason. The log file must be deleted or renamed and then recreated,
or the application configured to write to a new log once the current log is filled.
    Cheers,
    Martin
